Dreamlover (93,060) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Check the credits, it was produced by Dave Jam Hall.

I stand corrected. They all 3 share producer credit. I have to say the hip pop balance in the production works very well. Big Daddy Kane was major in the late 80's/early 90's in hip hop, the sample of his song ain't no half stepping was definitely Mariah and Dave while Walter brought the more pop feel and sound.

Bill that is most definitely a "go big or go home" line-up. I do like how you went all out with the remixes. Also, I can't believe I completely overlooked the MSG concert in HD. I'm sure they have the masters to "Make It Happen".

You could actually call it Daydream (Deluxe "[censored] the Grammys" Edition) lol.

Re: Dreamlover (93,054) (93,058) by cBerr from Canada
Yes, I've also heard that the Bam Jam Soul was the original concept for Dreamlover but the "powers that be" tapped Walter to give it a pop makeover. I'd like to be mad about it, but both versions have their merits - and I'm only about 75% confident that during the early 90's the Bam Jam Soul (or original version) would have been a #1 hit.

Re: Slipping Away on IG (93,045) (93,057) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
I have a list; all the times I have seen Mariah Carey in person:

Rainbow Tour, London 2000
Dorchester Hotel, Glitter/Greatest Hits era
G-A-Y, London 2002 (think that's when it was)
So Graham Norton Show, London 2003
Charmbracelet Tour, London 2003
Dorchester Hotel, TEOM era*
Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour, London 2016
All I Want For Christmas Is You Tour, 2017

*Fun fact. I felt really unwell waiting for her that night. And we had to go to queue up through the night for entry into HMV the next afternoon to meet Mariah and have CD's signed. It was dark and rainy and the line was massive but nothing was going to stop me meeting her one-on-one. So I waited, for hours in the dark... and felt increasingly unwell. And I almost made it. I really did. Until around 8am someone called an ambulance and I was carted off to hospital and diagnosed with meningitis and told I was a couple of hours away from death.

So there's a fun story. Either you're thinking "Wow, he really does love Mariah." Or you're thinking, "If only that guy hadn't called that ambulance..."

Re: Dreamlover (93,053) (93,054) by Bill from the UK
Yes but Walter produced it and was specifically bought in to give it the gloss and much needed sheen the original was lacking.

Dreamlover (93,053) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Dreamlover was a collaboration with Dave Jam Hall not Walter. Dave is also the co producer of Fantasy as well as Slipping Away.

Me too. I think it's one of those songs that gets stuck in your head. I will be humming Alone in Love in Costco, lol.

Re: Slipping Away on IG (93,040) (93,051) by Bill from the UK
I heard the Bam Jam Soul version was from the original mixing session (along with the Club Joint Mix), and that was what Dreamlover was originally conceived as. It didn't fit with the album and was a standalone track, so Walter came in to turn it into what we know now.

Random song (93,048) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
The random song for me at the moment is Alone In Love for some reason I woke singing a few bars of this song and I have no idea why but I guess it was meant to be.

Re: #Beautiful should have been the 19th (93,046) (93,047) by Tijl from Belgium
I quite liked the performance at the BET awards. She radiated a Marilyn Monroe-esque vibe that night. A shame it was mimed but this can be a requirement made by the production of the show.

#Beautiful needed a vintage looking video to accompany the feel of the song. She indeed looked gorgeous but those scenes on the bike are a bit too porno for my taste. Sometimes, less is a lot more.

Re: #Beautiful should have been the 19th (93,043) (93,046) by Dove from United States
I think the video had a part in it not doing as well as it should have. I remember I posted it (the video) on Facebook when it came out and people were focusing more on how it looked like she was "trying too hard" to stay young and sexy over how good the song was. Then she had super not-good televised performances that era. Like the one where she's wearing the gorgeous gown with mirrors behind her and it's super obvious she's miming #Beautiful with the Jeezy remix intro. Then the one with the ill fitting dress on top of a piano where she's singing You're Mine (Eternal). The songs are perfect, performances and videos not as flawless.

I just watched this again and it's actually not as terrible as I remember it. The dress is actually not as ill-fitting as I remember it either. I think it would have worked better if it was just her singing live with the piano instead of them pretending over the pre-recorded backing track. Like Billie Eilish and her brother at the Grammys vibe.

Funny you should say that. I don't think I've ever mentioned it but I was at London Wembley Arena in 1996 and it was one of my top ten best days of my entire life.

Re: #Beautiful should have been the 19th (93,038) (93,044) by Bill from the UK
I think it was the lack of a bridge or key change. It started off great but was then just the same line over and over until the end, like they have up halfway.

Re: #Beautiful should have been the 19th (93,027) (93,043) by Aliya from Canada
I think that knowing the kind of crap they play on the radio today, #Beautiful could have been a 19th number 1 just because they don't play good music on the radios nowadays. #Beautiful is not one of Mariah's best songs, but I still think it could have been bigger. It was short and sweet, even though it was not up to the higher standard we are used to by her.

Daydream anniversary (93,042) by cBerr from Canada
Mariah's recent #justiceforslippingaway post got me thinking about what I would like to see on a special release of Daydream (which is the direction I hope she's taking given the recent love shown for "Slipping Away").

Disc One
01. Fantasy
02. Underneath The Stars
03. One Sweet Day
04. Open Arms
05. ABMB
06. I Am Free
07. When I Saw You
08. Long Ago
09. Melt Away
10. Forever
11. Daydream Interlude
12. Looking In
13. Slipping Away
14. "The Crave Song"

Disc Two
01. Fantasy (Radio Mix) (from AUS single)
02. Fantasy (The Boss Mix)
03. ABMB (Def Classic Radio Mix)
04. ABMB (Always Club Mix)
05. ABMB (ST Dub)
06. Looking In (HaNi Remix)
07. One Sweet Day (Chucky's Remix)
08. Underneath The Stars (Drifting Remix)
09. Underneath The Stars (Drifting Remix w/o Rap)

Deluxe Packaging
01. Daydream Tour Audio - European date
02. DVD/BluRay (best quality - even if Tokyo, but ideally Rotterdam)
Bonus: If an Underneath The Stars music video exists, they are obligated to include it.

If this deluxe package ever saw the light of day I would... well let's not get into it.

Random songs (93,041) by Will from Australia
I woke up wide awake at 2am last night and Bliss started playing in my head, specifically the whistle section. The mad thing is that I've never been a fan of the song, but then maybe subconsciously I have been.

There are also 2 versions of Dreamlover that appear on a 4-trk Promo CD (CSK 5450).

Bam Jam Soul - 4:25
Def Club Mix Edit - 4:03

Bam Jam Soul is an excellent reworking IMO.

Simply put, #Beautiful is too short, like there's something missing. I love the song, it had great potential, but there was something lacking.

I wish Slipping Away was released on the B-side of the ABMB 12inch. I would love for MC to release all of her Columbia B-sides, bonus tracks, and Do You Know Where You Are Going To on a special vinyl EP. There are only about 5 songs that I am referencing, right?
1. Everything Fades Away
2. Do You Think Of Me
3. Slipping Away
4. Do You Know Where You Are Going To
5. Dreamlover (Club Joint Remix)
