Saturn is truly a great album. Even better than her debut album. Make It Out Alive, Yellow Of The Sun and Love Supreme are awesome, but its the combo of Orbit and Saturn that is truly out of this world, pun intended. Beautiful. Nao has such great range. So underrated.

Regarding my last post about Jessica Simpson. I'm not saying it's right. I don't make the rules I just observe them. If it wasn't true Meghan Trainer would be way more famous than Camilla Cabello or Selena Gomez.

Listening to her album Saturn. I'm a little sad that she lost to Lizzo at the Grammys this year, though I guess Lizzo did deserve her wins. It's a shame that so many artists like Nao who write and produce all their own material hardly get mass exposure. Wishing her all the best in her future projects. I also hope Mariah's next lead single has a beat and positive feel like this song. Still sounds so fresh despite being over a year old.

Jessica Simpson (92,757)

I think Jessica Simpson is pretty and funny, I love her clothes and shoes, I have Newlyweds on DVD and the wedding book she came out with when she got married to Nick - but I've never liked her singing. In Spanish she's what you call "mamona". Sorry to be crude but this is the only way I can think to describe it: when she sings she sounds like someone's having sex with her. It's especially bad in her Christmas songs.
About the pressure to lose 15 pounds: if you want to be that kind of famous, and popular among young people, you pretty much have to look good and be fit. You have to be a dream girl. It's what the public wants. Marilyn Monroe used to endure as many colonic irrigations as she could to stay thin. They all go through it. But you're making tons of money and this is your job so get a chef and a trainer. It was her choice to go about it in an unhealthy way.
I do think the audience grows more forgiving as they grow older with you though. If you think about people who have been super A list famous in the last 40 years, they're for the most part out of this world, breathtakingly beautiful.

And do you really compare that to "The Superbowl"? Mariah is definitely talented and has the catalog for the "The Superbowl", she just can't take two steps without help in a show that moves at lightning speed. I wouldn't personally want to see her go through something like that. I know some of you would love for her to go through that even if she falls on her ass just to prove a point. As she said it herself, that would be too stressful, her words not mine.

When Jessica Simpson came out, even though Britney and Christina where pushed as being the "new" Mariah in terms of challenging her for popularity, I really thought Jessica was going to be huge. She looked stunning, very MC-ish, and that "I Wanna Love You Forever" was like something Mariah would have recorded. Tommy Motorola actually said he thought she sounded like MC and Walter A produced two songs on her second album, "When You Told Me You Loved Me" is worth a listen for those who are still nostalgic about old Mariah.

Oh yeah. I totally forgot about that performance. This was during "The Emancipation of Mimi Era" if I'm not mistaken, dressed as a cheerleader. Damn, where did time fly to? It was just yesterday. Lol. That was a moment.

Yes she said she was up against all the Mousketeers types like Aguilera and Spears when her career began. She tried out around the same time, but didn't make it. The LA Times review gave a good snapshot of the book, which I won't be buying.

She once said that they wanted her to have a sixpack like Britney Spears, so I believe her. I guess most artists go through some sort of image control especially in the beginning. I think nobody is exempt to that.

She can do it with the right song choices and performance logistics. MC did perform a half-time set for a Thanksgiving NFL game on Fox in 2006. She performed DFABU and SIO on a float with a marching band and dancers. And it was all live. Checkout on YouTube.

When Christmas Comes (92,745)
by Malcolm from Asia
| |
|
|
Does anyone knows how YouTube Algorithm works? Because I just discovered something about WCC that can hint that Mariah and her team are boosting the song in a passive way. Whenever I watch With You, WCC automatically comes next until now that the Christmas is over. Before, it was Caution that comes next every time after With You which is understandable. If this was her teams doing, I think they planned to boost Caution before to see if it will have a momentum and WCC as their target for the next "big" Christmas song.

Superbowl (92,744)

If Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Diana Ross, Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake to name a few can do it, so can Mariah Carey. She's bringing her own brand of music and sass to the event, and the audience already knows she's not that kind of high energy performer so they won't be expecting. She's engaging in her own way plus she's got the massive hits and I'm not just talking about her number ones, both uptempo, ballads and killer remixes, undeniable hits that can get the crowd moving, playing as an energized playlist with the Dancers. Mariah's always got a trick up her sleeves testament to her versatility.

Superbowl? Really (92,743)
by Edward from USA
| |

It's so cute how some lambs keep rhapsodizing about Mariah putting up an epic performance at the Superbowl with her 19 #1's, but this event is not only about the songs, but mostly about the energy and production. If you can't take two steps without help, the Superbowl is not for you, and Mariah knows that. It's not about how big of star you are, but about how great of a show you can put on. Mariah with her goodies can't move freely anymore. I wouldn't wish that kind of stress on her because they would rip her apart. I think she should stay far far far away from the Superbowl.

That's what I thought so too. Shakira is such a breath of fresh air, people really do miss her that why her songs charted again up until now. But in the case of JLo, I don't know if it's because of the Mariah-JLo shade that I see her set as forced. She has this aura of proving something to everyone and the way she is with Shakira especially at the end, she seems have this vibe that is superior and she seems portraying as "I'm the bigger star here" based on her body language. Lol I don't know but that's my two cents.

I do still think the Superbowl performance will be criticized if there isn't some movement from her. Plus, the Honey dance is so cute. And so is the Heartbreaker dance.
Or scrap that and just have absolutely insane vocals from Mariah that shocks the world because it's just so incredible.

Superbowl set list (92,739)
by Bill from the UK

Here's how things should go at the Superbowl:
The crowd dampens down as anticipation slowly builds. After a few moments, Mariah can be heard cooing "I really hope when you hear this song, that you're happy with someone else." The lights come on and Mariah bursts into a lipped rendition of the Rainbow classic Did I Do That?
With the crowd still jumping, she effortlessly segues into a lipped version of Charmbracelet's charm offensive Boy (I Need You).
Mariah is picked up by the shirtless backing dancers and plonked onto a chaise lounge where she is spun 180 degrees in the air. With her back to the audience, a helicopter descends and out comes Rick Ross. The pair perform their iconic duet Can't Say No before a wowed audience.
Mariah is lowered back to the floor and ambled into position to lip her Songwriter's Hall of Fame inductee, Infinity. The audience sing along to this popular and infectious smash hit, and then, lo, French Montana, Justin Bieber and TI emerge from the sidelines to grace the crowd with their career defining collaboration of Why You Mad?
The song is over, the lights lowered and, whilst fiddling incessantly with her ear piece, Mariah starts purring the opening to Infamous, and with Jussie Smollet in tow, brings the house down with their critically lauded duet.
Finally, in a nod to the past, Mariah barks out AIWFCIY (Tree Lighting Edition), and asks the crowd "Y'all know this one?"
At that, she spins on her heel and is wheeled off to the Butterfly Outro, barely heard above the rapturous crowd and deafening applause.
The performance is then released to the Billboard R&B Female Over 40 but Under 50 Bubbling Under Chart, where it reaches pole position instantly.

Finally I watched it. It was a pleasure to watch Shakira. So much postive energy. Shakira looked sexy and very natural. The complete opposite from J.Lo, the custumes cheap and everything looked so forced. I also didn't like the spanish rappers. The daugther was cool and sweet. But again Shakira was so great. Never been a fan of her voice but she seems so nice and has a great aura. (What a natural beauty.) And the songs are fun to listen to and dance to. I Just read "Whenever, wherever" is at number one in US. That's cool, better than all the new stuff on the charts. I also think Mariah shouldn't do a Superbowl Show, but yes for the anthem. MC rocks the anthem like nobody. Goosebumbs guranteered.

I love your ideas Tijl, but I think to make the Superbowl performance good, there would have to have some movement at some point from Mariah. Maybe do the dance to Honey. Even though she is not a dancer, I think a dance from her would make it all come together, even if it's minimal.
