Televised performances (92,214)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
Is it really expensive to keep performance videos up? I really liked the Jimmy Fallon one with the short pink sparkly dress when she sang The Distance. I even like the one with the huge pink dress and the men dancing around her when she sang With You. And when she sang IWTKWLI on The View. And Bye Bye in the short black dress on American Idol. It would be nice if they had those in high quality for us to watch.
What are some of your favorite televised performances?

Yeah, you're exactly right. I don't mind the vanity shot videos sometimes but when we get something different it's such a treat. Like UOMF or Obsessed. I really like the parts in With You where she's just walking down the street. I just rewatched You're Mine and some parts of that are nice too. I think my all time favorite video of hers is Fantasty though.

Rumour has it, it was young Ms. Swift. Mariah's demo album was going to be called 1989 but Taylor named her album that as well.

It's aesthetic is quite unique. Not many videos out there choose red when going for monochrome. It is practically a Target ad. Before the new AIWFCIY video came out, the UOMF video was the last that felt like a real production that at least some thought went into. Mariah and Nicki actually sound and look great as a tandem. It also seems like the last video where Mariah stepped out of her comfort zone (which isn't really saying much) and was open to making a fool of herself (just a bit) and trying a wider variety of facial expressions. All the rest that followed last decade were just a bunch of glamourous vanity shots that alternated between these looks: the sultry, sad, longing gaze, the "yeah I still got it, riiiight?" come-hither look, or the sweet wide toothy grin. It aged well.

Book plus anniversary debut album plus the demo album (92,208)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
|
|
In conjunction of the book "I Had A Vision Of Love" and the 30th anniversary of her debut album "Mariah Carey", I would suggest for the management to release M's anticipated demo album that was rumored to be released in late 2014/2015 but was cancelled because according to M someone had ripped off the idea and visual. So 2020 would be the right time to release the demo album together with the book.

Next album/era (92,207)
by B from USA

I think Mariah has at least one or two #1's in her and that she can make another comeback. Caution is an amazing album that like Charmbracelet was about damage control and if she releases an amazing collaboration with Bruno as the lead single from her next album followed by a song featuring Drake she can tie and possibly break The Beatles' record.

Mariah scored a top 1O hit on Adult Contemporary and R&B radio with With You but because Top 40 radio is ageist it failed to crossover. P!nk who is younger than Mariah said she was told: "Just be prepared, they don't play girls over 35 on Top 40 radio."

He was a character that Isaac. Six years already? I remember his exit post but I got him semi confused with the other lamb that gave Mariah the diamond necklace on Mariah's World and then started posting here. Didn't he go off on you as well Eric? I feel like it's been three zealot lambs that have done this to you at the very least. Anyway I'm sure they are all back in some form or another.

Re: Mariah and sales (92,168) (92,202)
by Andrew from the United Kingdom

Someone once said something akin to that to me. "Whatever your mood, whatever you're feeling, whatever you're going through Mariah has a song for it." And that's the beauty of having a favourite artist that was one of the few that maintained longevity - and recorded so often. The catalogue is vast and the subject matter reasonably varied and the melodies reflective of most every feeling. So I agree that the sales figures become less important as you age and the music more so. At least it should. But some people just have to launch attacks in defence of a fake narrative no matter what the simple truths are. And, well, some people just never grow up.

"Maybe the article wasn't simple enough for you because you proved my point. If they don't give a record a shot and play it for the public to decide if it's a hit or not, how can they really say that their demographic doesn't like her music? She was 50 when 4 Minutes went number 1 in the UK. I'm sure they had no problems playing her then even though she was way beyond their demographic. Didn't you say in an earlier posts that age isn't a factor to older artists getting played yet you quoted my very point from the article that age is definitely a factor. Which is it? Don't switch up now."

"Mariah outsold Eminem, nobody cares about his inflated sales that are non existing. Most sites says he sold over 170 million. Some even say 100 million since most of his sales can't even be found. Also most of them are streams or whatever. Same thing with Rihanna, she is in top 5 of best selling artists of all time. Let's not forget Mariah sold 1.6 billion units in Asia, those numbers aren't included in her counting, most of her albums haven't been certified since their releases. This year will be the year where Mariah certificate her own stuff."
Sometimes when people post a lot of bullshit I like to digest it in parts and try to understand it, debate whether it has merit then rebut it with logic if its non-factual or just plain stupid.
In this instance I can only take your entire post and simply say: "Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrm?"

Re: 1.6 billion is for total sales of M's catalogues (92,187) (92,199)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

I believe albums are more costly in Japan. At least that's what I have heard from a friend it takes quite a bit more to actually purchase music, especially physical albums and singles, out there, so high sales in Japan are never taken for granted because it's more expensive to support your favorite artist there. That explains why many artists put out special bonus tracks and other treats for the Japan releases of their albums. It's rewarding the fans for their loyalty and apparent extra effort to demonstrate that compared to the rest of the world. They're also one of the biggest music markets outside the US.
Also, If it's monetary value they're certifying then that's a weird way to go about things, but is the only way I can think of that can make the 1.6 billion plaque plausible. Even Madonna doesn't have that number, and she's obviously been around longer, earns much more when extensively touring and is more internationally successful in some ways as her albums since the late 90s have done better internationally than domestically. Plus she's the one recognised as the bestselling female artist, at least by Guinness.

He wasn't allowed back with the same account with which he committed his "crimes". He created a new account, that's why you cannot see his post history. With this new account, he hasn't committed any more crimes, at least Eric hasn't thought so. As for Isaac Ortiz, he went off on Eric, and called him all kinds of nasty stuff, I hope you remember that. Eric posted his exit post for us to have a glimpse of what he had said. I'm pretty sure if Andrew commits any more crimes, he would be banned again, don't be scared, remember he's just a dumb blonde. You can shut him off easily with just a few words.

I read my last post and felt a little bad. When I say performances I meant the televised ones because in person she does a whole lot better. I feel like the televised ones and music videos matter though because people who aren't that into her, or have never heard of her, judge her based on those. That's all I meant. I just want something captivating where we can't take my eyes off the screen. I think it would be better if there was acting and a storyline. And no lipsyncing. Only actually singing and then matching it up. Like in Forever.
