Thalia on Wendy Williams Show (82,542) by Dove from United States
I was watching Wendy Williams clips on YouTube today and came across a clip of Thalia who is Tommy Mottola's wife.
The other day when I was making my list of albums by year I had a bunch of Thalia's albums on my list but deleted them (because I didn't think I should mention her name on this board) but actually I am a big fan of hers. I was an even bigger fan before, when I was younger. My room back then was plastered with posters and pictures of her and Mariah Carey and Selena. Those were my top three. Thalia is not the greatest singer in the world but she is really likeable and I think she is so beautiful. Probably the most beautiful woman in the world, in my opinion. If I could look like any celebrity I would choose her. When I was little I used to watch her novelas with my grandma; my favorite was Marimar. I sang her songs at talent shows in elementary school. I wish I could have sung Mariah's songs but they were too hard for me and I sounded like a dying cow or Rihanna singing Hero.
I'm just saying this because I noticed Wendy was being super rude to her and everytime I see her on American TV shows the talk show hosts are always rude to her. I feel like it's because she's married to Tommy Mottola and people feel loyalty to Mariah - I know that's why I stopped being a hard core fan for a while. But Mariah left Tommy, it's not like Thalia stole him from her. Thalia was like 30 years old, already a huge star, and not employed by him. She seems happy to be married to him, maybe they have a better dynamic. My ex-husband treats his new wife way differently than he treated me according to our son. Maybe people learn something and try to be better, or maybe the dynamic is just different. I don't want to hide that I'm a Thalia fan anymore. She seems like a really sweet person and I don't like when interviewers are rude to her. In that clip she was promoting a Donna Summer play she's producing. I think all Mexicans love Donna Summer. I think it's because we love to dance.

Article: Mariah quietly sold diamond ring from ex James Packer (82,541) by Will from England
I hope that she has sold the ring. Good riddance and a little light shopping cash on the side to boot. What more could you ask for?

Re: Poo Bear (82,536) (82,540) by Dove from United States
I just got done watching the documentary you suggested (Poo Bear - Afraid of Forever/Let It Play). I really like his spirit and he gives me a good vibe. He reminds me of Mariah, they even talk similarly. When he told J Balvin "Did you just break up in your relationship? I can feel your energy." I can relate to that because I feel people's energy too. I'm going to look up some of the songs he's worked on but as a person I like him. I'm excited for what's to come.

Re: Best "Vision of Love" live performance (82,535) (82,539) by B from USA
In my opinion, Mariah's best performance of Vision of Love was at the 91 Grammy's.

Re: Whitney Houston (82,524) (82,538) by Tijl from Belgium
Respect for Whitney as a singer but she never grew on me when it concerned her as a human being. I found her to be very bitchy and unlikeable in interviews. God knows the drugs turned her into a walking nightmare but even during her early days she never came across as a warm person. She lost all credit with me when she tried to upstage Mariah during their live rendition of "When You Believe" at the Academy Awards. Throughout the entire performance there is a clear tension between the two of them and a certain moment Mariah even glances at her like "Come on, really?" Whitney was a good if not a great songstress but she comes nowhere near Mariah's versatile artistry. Okay... they both suck at acting.

Re: Whitney Houston (82,524) (82,537) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Whitney is a very talented performer. Mariah and Celine ain't got nothing on her when it comes to sheer vocal live belting power or soul, especially during her peak. But that's sadly all she is and has. We will always be doubting the artistic merit of artists who make a living singing songs of others. Sure, their talent can come through in their interpretations, but to me, if they don't write at least 30% of their entire catalog, they can't be the type of artists that Carole, Joni, Madonna, Janet, Mariah, Amy, etc. can. And yes, her latter performances were more about her bravado than actual performing. And I have never really enjoyed any interviews she did save for those she did with Mariah, and that's mostly because Mariah was in them. I don't know - when she speaks, it never really comes off sincere - you can almost see the wheels turning in her head. Of course in her latter years she loosened up more and became more candid, but often times it wasn't in a good way and she came across as bitchy. But she's in a better place now and we love still everybody, especially if everybody is someone who has helped pave the way for Mariah.

Poo Bear (82,536) by Robert-Anthony from United States
Checkout out Poo Bear's YouTube video - Afraid of Forever/Let It Play. It is almost an hour video about him creating that next hit in the studio, his work ethic, family, and overcoming his personal struggles. Great video and informative. He is a workaholic and perfectionist just like MC. Lambs, I think we are in store for something really special soon. I have never paid any attention to the name Jason Boyd in song credits until now. I feel MC could have collaborated with anybody new, but his name was possibly pitched by Jay Z and his team as a starting point for a fresh new sound. I haven't learned how to attach video links to my posts yet, so just do a Google search - Poo Bear in the studio on YouTube. Once you find it, can you attach it with your next post? It is a must see video about Poo Bear.

Best "Vision of Love" live performance (82,535) by Terna from Nigeria
Has to be the one at Proctors Theatre. There's something special about that performance that makes me watch it ever so often. Her confidence is sky high and she really kills it, with so much Swag. The way she throws her head back while sustaining towards the end of the song, breaks that vocal melismatic run down and drops it like it's hot. Lol. Then proceeds to bask in the revelling applause for almost 1 min. Just wow. It puts a big grin on my face everytime I watch it. This Mariah is the one were gonna witness this year when she returns to Caesar's (don't ask how I know, I just know). This is also one of those rare moments where I feel she sings the song better than the album version in one take. Damn.

Article: "Together" alone (82,534) by B from USA
If Rhianna does surpass Mariah record of 18 #1's she still won't technically be the woman with the most #1's since on quite a few of her#1's she's the featured artist/guest. Surely, since Billboard is a stickler for rules if she does one day surpass Mariah they'll make sure that it's noted that several of her "#1's" aren't actually her's like Love The Way You Lie that's Em's song not her's, she's just the chorus girl.

Butterfly - Butterfly and Outside - Walter A.

New album (82,532) by Robert-Anthony from United States
I read the May 22 Billboard article where Poo Bear confirmed that he is working with Mariah. I hope that he can create something special with Mariah that she hasn't already done with The Dream, Mike Will Made It, Hitboy and others. Maybe he can create several hits with her that will connect her with the younger buying public. She needs the younger buying music fans to get a radio hit. His work with Justin Beiber on Purpose really surprised me. I thought the album was going to be a flop for Justin but radio played every single released. I just hope she collaborates with Fred Ball, Pop and Oak, Babyface, Da Internz, Murderbeatz, Illangelo, and Kirk Franklin before she lets RocNation hear what she has done with Poo Bear. 7-8 songs sounds very promising for a new sound. However, no studio photos every week is not what I am used to. I want another song like Fantasy lyrically at least.

Vocals (82,531) by B from USA
The truth is that despite the years of wear and tear Mariah's put her voice through she is a freak of nature. When she's properly rested, hydrated, and well-rehearsed she's still able to glide through her vocal registers without straining or looking like the veins in her throat and face are going to burst. Like the video she uploaded of her singing the melody of Ain't No Mountain High Enough in her whistle register effortlessly after the disastrous opening night of her The Elusive Chanteuse World Tour. If Mariah's voice was as shot as some on this board claim Mariah would be unable to sing in her upper registers especially her whistle register. For an example look at what happened to Maria Callas. Maria could still sing in her lower registers, but she basically lost the ability to sing in her upper registers, some claim her vocal decline was the result of her drastic weight loss while others claim it was her hard-partying jet-setting lifestyle that took its toll. Mariah looks healthy and happy in all the recent pics and videos. She's clearly taking care of herself and I guarantee she's taking care of her voice as well. She doesn't need a vocal coach since from an early age she was receiving vocal training from her mother, an opera singer. She hasn't forgotten those lessons and the tricks of the trade her mother taught her. Mariah's problem is her voice is tied directly to her emotions which is why when she's upset or nervous her voice becomes unpredictable.

Re: Whitney Houston (82,529) (82,530) by B from USA
I've always viewed Whitney as an interpreter of lyrics/vocalist not a musician. I know Clive and Whitney claimed she was a vocal arranger but isn't that just a singer who records a song as he or she sees fit instead of singing it the way the composer composed the song, usually in a different key than the one composer composed the song in? Whitney sang in parts of her range she was unable to sing in comfortably which damaged her vocal cords. You can hear the strain in her live vocals and see the physical toll it took on her while watching her perform, especially while on she was on The Bodyguard World Tour. Adele and Sam Smith both also sing outside of their natural/normal ranges and have had to have surgeries to repair the damage doing so did to their voices. I wonder if Whitney underwent a similar surgery to repair her vocal cords and instead of salvaging parts of her voice, like Adele and Sam's doctors were able to do, her results were similar to Julie Andrews'? I'll always love and respect Whitney but after The Bodyguard World Tour she was no longer a virtuoso vocalist/performer. I do love her performance of Why Does It Hurt So Bad at the MTV (Movie?) Awards even though she was clearly high as hell.

Re: Whitney Houston (82,524) (82,529) by Todd from Sydney, Australia
I've never enjoyed her live performances, mainly because she speak-sings outside of the studio. And it's cheating. Post 2000, her interviews were fairly obnoxious. Oprah should have got all Wendy Williams on her ass and put her in her place.

New album (82,528) by Dove from United States
I know Mariah's new album is going to be a love album because all of her albums seem to coincide with what's going on in my life, and right now I'm experiencing true love. Mariah I really wish you had a new album out for this era of my life. It's been since 2014. A short 2 minute 40 second waltz in 3/4 time I can dance to at my wedding would be great - if we're taking requests.

MIAM (82,527) by Dove from United States
I've been listening to MIAM today and I think it would make a good movie. It tells a good story. I see scenes in my mind with each song. I'm sad it didn't have more of an impact. It captures so many feelings. All of the songs make me feel something.

Great list. I'd include Diane Warren as well and add in Can't Take That Away. And of course Ben Margulies and Vanishing.

Re: Best ballad collaborations list (82,521) (82,523) by B from USA
I'd add Side Effects with Scott Storch, Touch My Body with The Dream and Tricky Stewart, and #Beautiful with Miguel and Happy Perez. I hope she's writing with the same writers Bruno, Miguel, and Frank Ocean write with. #Beautiful seamlessly updated Mariah's sound because her collaborator knew Mariah's strengths and how to highlight them. It seems to help when the artist is also a fan and wants her to succeed. I believe each of these men and their collaborators love Mariah and want her to reclaim her throne. You can hear her influences on each of them when you listen to their albums.

What a nice surprise to watch. Really cute. The "violin man" with "Touch my body" and the two kids with "Hero" are fantastic. For me this is the real Mariah (the Mariah I love), her smile, her look, she's back. I don't know where "she was hiding herself", but I'm just happy to see her like that. Thumbs up for the one who had the idea for this video.
