Billboard Music Awards (89,447) by Giovanni from USA
Mariah looked amazing and gave a very good speech. She had a diva moment but kept it classy and was humble. There was a lot of love and respect there that night and she deserved it. She's paved the way for so many and has inspired a whole new generation of singers. In my opinion she was the highlight of the night. Nobody will ever match her voice or her music.

Article: Mariah Carey gets emotional during acceptance speech (89,446) by Betty from Canada
I didn't think that MC could top her 1999 speech for BBMA's Artist Of The Decade but she did because "she has come a long way" like she previously said and she is no where near done.

Re: Vocal texture (89,442) (89,445) by Musti from UK
I'm impressed how quickly she recovered from the crack on "feeling". She really pulled it together with those two bursts of "higher". The great Maria Callas had once said, "You are born an artist or you are not. And you stay an artist, dear, even if your voice is less of a fireworks." There are so many parallels between the careers of these two MCs. Mariah will still be an unmatched artist at 90 with only 2 notes left in her voice.

Re: Vocal texture (89,442) (89,444) by Andrew from London UK
Agreed. Mariah is never going to deliver anything spectacular anymore. But it genuinely felt like she and the crowd acknowledged that and she's moved to just being loved for being Mariah Carey and indispensable. I loved it. Love love loved it. When she threw the tissue I howled with laughter. My girl right there. I love you, Mariah. Despite being your fiercest critic. You reminded me why you're a legend and that, once upon a time, in ages passed, in 1993, I recognised your greatness. And a lifetime obsessing over you was a lifetime well spent. Well spent. So proud. You were always iconic to me.

This the best link for now. NBC takes down a lot of content.

I loved the BBMA performance and speech. I adored the opening of "Emotions". That rasp and the way she said the first "higher" is why I love her and her voice.

Does anyone know where foreign lambs can watch the full medley as it was broadcasted? There's only a fan video on YouTube.

Billboard Icon (89,440) by Terna from Nigeria
Congratulations are in order for Mariah Carey. I loved everything about the performance to the ensemble, looking very classy and seeing the other stars fangirling over this true legend made my heart smile. I still remember when I became a fan a long time ago and the very moment I chose to be unapologetic about my love for Mariah. Years later I'm still very much a Lamb, lol and boy am I so proud of this woman, proud to have come on this journey with her and still support and pray for her and be here for her years later. A true definition of a fighter and a hero. And yes her music has saved my life in so many ways than one. That acceptance speech was everything. When she said we her fans pulled her out of the depths of hell and brought her back, wow I lost it. I felt that in my soul.

I actually liked the performance, as imperfect and shaky as it was. She could easily have lipped the entire thing, but she didn't. And no, I'm not just appreciating the fact that she opted to perform 95% live just because I know she could have mimed, but because the cracks and struggles she had throughout the performance humanized her and inadvertently played really well into the narrative of her speech. For the first time in a long time, a Mariah TV appearance has been almost universally liked and even loved. Social media and various entertainment sites really lit up with praises of how much she deserves it. The general public didn't mind that it wasn't her best performance. They were just overwhelmingly positive about her appearance overall, and that, along with her best awards acceptance speech since 1999, made the moment even more special and moving, seeing how everybody was reacting. It's the most Mariah love I have witnessed in a while (worldwide) and I am just so touched that we were so lucky to experience such warm acceptance again, even if it were just for that moment.

The speech was on point. I'm happy Mariah got the Icon Award. She truly deserves it. However I hated her performance. I pretend it didn't happen.

iTunes it's good to see (89,437) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
It's good to see MC's Greatest Hits and #1 to Infinity compilations, as well as "Hero", "A No No" and "WBT" all back on the Canadian iTunes. It's fun to see how TV appearances effect music sales (and when it doesn't effect the sales, it's a bummer). Again, congrats Mimi on a stellar performance and speech that's getting praise across all media and platforms.

Wow (89,434) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
One of Mariah's toughest critics on this message board is singing her praises today. Wow it is really a good day when Andrew is happy with MC. But honestly speaking she really did herself and all of fans and supporters proud, she really showed up, and showed out and proved once again that she is truly still one of the greatest to ever do it. Once again Mariah Carey congratulations on your BBMA icon honor you have definitely earned it, and you deserve all the blessings and flowers coming your way.

Wow (89,433) by Special K from USA
Wow, that is really all I have to say is wow. Yes, the vocals were pitchy and overall just ok but that performance as a whole and wow that speech, whoa that speech was iconic. You can tell by the smiles on everyone's face in the audience that they really love them some Mariah Carey.

WBT (89,432) by RibbonB from USA
How nice, We Belong Together has re entered the hot 200 on US iTunes. The power of Mimi's speech. And very cute that CardiB was caught on camera singing it to Offset. And many have noted that Taylor poached off of Bey, but they both stole from the queen M with her iconic Up Out My Face marching band.

That BBMA speech gave me the chills. I have watched it over ten times so far yet every time it gets to me. Very, very proud of MC. Madonna was laying on the stage, Mariah owned it.

Mariah's speech was absolutely amazing. Has to be up there as one of the best she's ever done. I was moved by what she said because it was so true. Her music has been the soundtrack to my life and has got me through so much and has always been there for me. Mariah, thank you for everything. I love you so much.

Icon (89,429) by Mara from United States
So proud of Mariah right now. I cried and felt like she was talking directly to me. Yeah her voice cracked a little on the beginning of Emotions, but I feel it was totally forgivable and showed she is human and her vocals were live. We all know how nervous she gets at those shows. Her speech was one of the best I have ever heard. Right up there with her last artist of the decade speech. And how amazing was it seeing Monroe so proud of her beautiful mom on stage. Roc and his MJ aviators and the little thing he did with his mothers high whistles in Emotions. So memorable and a "moment" as MC would say. My friends were all texting me how good she did and her speech was everything and how the speech was for "me". Well, not really but the dedication she put in for her true fans/lambs since day one who have been there through all the ups and down throughout her career, sure made it feel like it was for me and each and every one of us who was on that ride with her and never turned our back. She looked beautiful too, her hair, makeup, dress. You could tell she worked hard to look good for that crowd she doesn't really associate with. Anyhow, beautiful moment for Miss Mariah, and the fans and of course her children. She literally is a walking legend and those are the people that should be acknowledged while they are here.

Mariah smashed it. She looked and sounded great. I sang, I smiled, I welled up, I laughed and then I tore up some more. All in ten minutes. Mariah Carey smashed it, y'all.

That's how an icon do (89,427) by Brad from USA
At the BBMAs Mariah showed her heart, her humor, her humility and her love. Her nerves and conditioning played a role in the execution of the medley but to anyone who accuses me of comforting myself with blind ignorance to that, I say to you "I don't know you". With actually living life and its often horrid turns, one learns perseverance and the miracle that is a continued ability to rise again and enable others to do the same, by the grace of God. And if you haven't experienced that yet, then buckle up because God shows it to us all, in different ways, and life is just about to begin for you. I am so grateful that today some of the world gets to relish in the essential Mariah that I have known since the first vision in 1990. And I thank her for showing us the grace and love last night that the world always should have shown her. Be well to yourself and to others in your life and thank you God for your miracles, mercies, graces and blessings.

First of all congratulations to the one and only Miss Mariah Carey. She should have [gotten] that award way earlier, but hey she's got a complete room full with awards.

The best thing was her speech. Watched it three times and I will watch it again today. She was really nervous. Her speech showed a humble and lovely Mariah. The one I love since I became a fan during Daydream.

Taylor Swift looked like a little fan girl, loved that too. Monroe was sweet by applauding her mum. I'm so happy that Mariah dedicated her life to music. And I truly believe every word she said came from her heart. I love that Mariah said, we helped her through the hell (we all know what it was). We fans/lambs can be so proud of her. Love you MC.

The last part of her speech that says, "To anyone who has ever told me that my music saved your life." Yes, I am one of those. Yes Mariah, your music saved me in anyway that I could be saved. So thank you so much. You have always been a part of my life and your music will always be my saving grace.

Mariah, thank you for all that you have given us, you have truly earned the right to [be] called an icon. I have to say even though she struggled in parts, she still managed to push through and bring it home. Her speech was warm, heartfelt, and honest, it was a moment for not just us as fans but to everyone who has to overcome or felt lost. Mariah truly shined and to see the younger audience embrace her the way that they did was amazing. This was a great moment and I am glad that I was able to have the experience. Also Monroe was truly proud of her mom, and Rocky was Mr. Cool. But overall I enjoyed the moment.
