Re: Caution 93k (89,073) (89,077)

Well she still contractually has the European leg of her tour, if you call that promotion. That's plenty for a record that all of us thought would do better than 93K over several months. Maybe she will do 100k by year end.

"[Caution] is doing far better than anyone here or at Epic ever thought it would."
Not true. I thought it would sell way over 100k. I think the album and singles underperformed. The album was only for three weeks in the Billboard 200 and none of the singles even entered the Billboard Hot 100.

Wait, how is Stella asking for anything, since she and Mariah settled their lawsuits a couple months ago. This is bananas. If Stella is making all these claims where is he evidence to begin with. God, I'm so sick of these beasts.

The Dream is back into rotation (89,074)

After five months, only GTFO and 8th Grade remain on my workout playlist. So with that being said, I have put every song The Dream wrote with MC back into rotation. I am really loving More Than Friends again. The Dream could make a 10 track album that would beat Caution any day. I am so serious.

During E=MC2 era Mariah also fought for "Touch my body" to be the lead single, she wanted to follow-up TMB with Migrate but the label and LA Reid decided that Bye Bye should be the official second single. Honestly E=MC2 was an album geared towards radio friendly songs and that was direction I believe MC was going in for this particular era to capitalize on radio embracing her music again during TEOM era.

To me, Hero is the best. I love "Can't take that away" but I don't like "Through the rain".

Wow, Caution has reached 93K in pure album sales in the US. Strange times. Mariah's next moves are going to be very interesting. Are her memoirs really the next best step?

Baby, for me it's Hero, TTR, then CTTA. Hero speaks to my mind, body, and soul. That song for me is everything and in my humble opinion it's one of Mariah's best lyrically written songs. Still to this day if I am going through something I will play Hero. TTR is a great song. Again very well written lyrics with substance/depth accompanied by a great music video that had a real story line. Miss those days. CTTA is just way too corny for me and please don't let me get started on that video.

Re: How are singles chosen? (89,048) (89,064)

It is probably a combination of artist and label decision, as well as how fans has received the song.
Mariah followed a formula for a long time, which is first release an uptempo/upbeat, followed by a ballad, examples, Emotions/Can't Let Go, Dreamlover/Hero, Fantasy/OSD, Its Like That/WBT, and a few others.
But that's the same formula that betrayed her with Touch My Body/Bye Bye, when the second single should have been Migrate. By that time, the old formula was really tired.

Boring remix. Sounds like a 1999 remix. Just let it go, the song is over, the timing is over, the A No No boat has left long ago. No one cares. She's not creative anymore.

"All in Your Mind" is about a lover reassuring her partner she's still in love, still invested, still around and part of a relationship that he apparently feels that she's checked out of. She has to actually beg him to "believe her" and it's all just misunderstandings. She wants him to look at her and she do the same (lot of eye references). While in "Alone in Love", dude is gone. Whatever her proclamations were in "Mind" did no good and he doesn't believe her and he won't even look into her eyes anymore ("You turn the other way"). She wanted to make it work, he still left.

Hello Randy. How do You feel about TAOLG? I always found great inspiration within this song's lyrics. Perhaps not as uplifting as the ones you mentioned but nevertheless with an empowering message.

Really? To me they have very noticeable differences both in theme and sound. Thematically, All In Your Mind is about reassuring a partner that you're committed, and Alone In Love is about a partner who has left you after a whirlwind romance. All In Your Mind has that brilliant faux-reggae outro that is one of the best things on the debut, and is structured in a standard verse-chorus-verse-chorus arrangement, whereas Alone In Love has a brilliant arrangement of chorus-verse-chorus-verse-bridge-chorus.

Totally agree. I love the song so much. I also think that's the ultimate Mariah sound. The real "trademark". Dreamy, powerful and softly all in one song. It has something that can't be created by other artists. Pure Mariah.

Through The Rain, CTTA and then Hero. Although, when Hero came out, I bought the cassette tape album and played it more than TTR almost everyday.

Through The Rain is definitely the best, but then I was never a fan of Hero, I can appreciate the vocals but the schmaltz factor gets me. Can't Take That Away is just clunky and doesn't work.

I can't listen to "Alone in Love" without it being doubled up with "All in Your Mind". They feel like two tracks that blend cohesively production-wise and lyrically.

Ok B, Special K and whoever else. Which of the inspirational songs are best. They all have the same message. Through The Rain in my opinion has the strongest vocal, video and lyric. This actually is a run-away win that you can't debate and yet during the Genius interview, she dogged Through The Rain and lifted up the other two. Because Through The Rain peaked at #81.
