Us movie (88,777) by RibbonB from USA
I saw it and it is definitely thought provoking and worth seeing. Some creative tweeter tweeted a clip of the Mariah/Bianca fight from Heartbreaker to Jordan Peele. So perfect and trus. I hope he retweets. Mimi is a visionary, in this case lol.

Official International Fan Club Newsletter (88,776) by OGmattyICE from US
Hi I'm looking to sell my collection of Mariah's Fan Club Newsletters. I have most of them except missing a few from 2000 and on. What's the going rate for those I'd like to know thanks.

Not true, of course he can use her name. He dared her to sue him, because taking him to court would get him all the attention he craved. Her best bet was to ignore him. Just as the MJ didn't approve anyone use his name and the list goes on. Some people gain exactly what they want from a law suit. Discovery and further attention.

Re: Mariah, Damizza, the car (88,769) (88,774) by Edward from USA
Oh wow, I was just writing a post titled "Let's play the blind lamb" almost identical to yours, but you beat me to it. As much as it could hurt the herd of "the follow the leada blind lambs", whatever Damizza wrote in his book was approved by Mariah. Without her consent, he couldn't have used her name, period. And if it was approved by Mariah, she must've been Ok with it. He also talked about Tommy's obsession with Mariah and him trying to kind of recruit Damizza to spy Mariah to what he refused because it was creepy. So, before calling anybody a liar just because they say something about Mariah you might not like, remember those people, good or bad, were part of her inner circle, and while they can exaggerate and lie, they can also state the truth. The truth usually lies somewhere in the middle, and last time I checked Mariah hadn't changed her name to Mary Poppins Full of Grace.

I do believe she was suicidal at that time and I've always felt she suffered from some form of mental illness. My issue isn't the information that's being given, my issue is that it's coming from people who may not have her best interest at heart. They got paid, so now they're talking. Although I know that she will never admit to alot of stuff that's said about her, it's not their story to tell.

Because I have a little time let me address a few things I agree and disagree with.

1. I think MC is usually ahead of time with her choices so this eclectic/nostalgia R&B music she's making will have it's due soon. Think about Glitter. No one was interested and then when Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Madonna started making throwbacks to the 80s it was hot. A better example is The One which was ignored but it's the same song as WBT but that guitar/mid tempo R&B ballad wasn't hot in 2001 but after Usher's U Remind Me and a few others did it then MC got her due.

2. Remember Cher's Believe or Tina Turner's What's Love Got To Do With It? MC is just as much an icon. When she has something the public wants, she can be commercially viable despite her age.

3. A few of you have mentioned no one sells physical copies except Adele but I've made the argument several times that MC can out-Adele Adele. The lyrics to My All are ten times better than the lyrics to Someone Like You. Same slow heartbreak. MC for whatever reason doesn't want to highlight heartbreaking ballads/records which are universal across genres, formats and age groups. MC could write and record one in two hours but she apparently isn't interested which is head scratching to me.

4. I don't believe Damizza's account of what happened because he has an axe to grind. Now I will say that you are right PW that lambs attacked viciously in the past things that we've come to find out to be true later. When I said in 2006 she lip synced parts of the Grammy performance everyone, including the webmaster (I love you though Eric) got on me. Now the very same people have the attitude of she lip syncs get over it. Damizza however seems like a disgruntled ex because his producing career never took off and honestly to me Crybaby is a boring track. She threw a dog a bone in 99.

4. Finally Lainsky it's cool to see someone agree with me that Butterfly isn't just the best album of MC's career. It is the best album of all time and it's not really up for debate at this point.

Re: Music (88,765) (88,771) by jaker20 from US
"is it 100% a hobby with no care of its success or failure or is it still business?" This is assuming artists make money from music which is no longer true, especially these days. Releasing new music keeps an artists' business current in the public eye, its merely promo for ancillary activities. For example, Katy Perry's Witness album flopped, but she toured for that album and that tour made her very rich. Using Paul McCartney again, he released an album barely anyone heard of, but the release of the album provided him opportunity to reboot his merchandise, do interviews, sell new vinyl materials. New music now is just a hook for other things. If Katy Perry didn't release an album, what would she tour "in support of the album" for? If Paul McCartney didn't release new music, the press won't pick up that his "catalog has been remastered, etc, etc". Some artists release new music just to promo some new merch. Look at the big picture. Besides, Mariah is an artist, I'm pretty sure she's got a vault full of unreleased materials she wants to record or use in some way.

Mariah, Damizza, the car (88,769) by Anonymous from UK
I'm not saying Damizza's report is true or false, but before we respond with horror, judgement or call anyone a liar for suggesting that another human could be so unhappy they'd attempt suicide, especially one that first hand said she carried a bag in her car ready to be kidnapped, let's remember just a while back when some of us suggested Mariah had mental health problems/wasn't on the right medication/wasn't taking medication. The board was in uproar at the "rudeness" and "disrespect" of suggesting Mariah had mental health issues. It was true though. Also the uproar at Morgan's last reports that Mariah is ooc, detached, unstable and an alcoholic since 2001. Again, got rubbished and insulted. Now something else potentially scary is heard about Mariahs health, again we debase it. Mariah is a fragile, beautiful human, susceptible to everything all of here us are, including, possibly, the want to not be here in the dark moments. She's had a few. It was during her breakdown she discovered God. Maybe she did reach the point of suicidal thoughts. They'd never publicize/admit it, but if she did or didn't, it's a story we should maybe meet with reflection at others struggles rather than anger that someone we love but don't know could potentially feel that way. Love and respect to all, especially those hurting.

Re: Why (88,752) (88,767) by jaker20 from US
I have never heard anyone refer to SZA as having invented R&B. She is only popular because of her collabs to big names, I like her but by herself she has plenty to prove. As for Mariah, I previously used Paul McCartney as example who is decades her senior. He still releases albums and gets good reviews. I know the industry and public is less accepting of females past their prime but she can replicate that career path she will be fine. Caution is a huge step up from MIAMTEC, it was not a disaster. With the help of critical push I'm dreaming of her getting a Grammy nom for it next year but I maybe asking for too much.

Article: Mariah Carey - Butterfly (88,766) by Lainsky from Philippines
After nearly 30 years, this album remains on the top of my list and my all time favorite album in the entire history of music. Butterfly, Breakdown, Honey, and The Roof will always stand out from the rest of her singles. My All, Fourth of July, Close My Eyes were all gems that I never skipped. It was a "defining moment" album of Mariah (IMHO) in her music career.

Re: Music (88,762) (88,765) by Marissa from USA
My post was referring to Mariah the brand/business, not Mariah the woman. If Mariah feels that she needs to put out music to feel happy and whole, then by all means she should do it. Like someone on her said, her work in the studio is basically her biggest strength, so recording an album isn't the issue. What I was saying was that from a business return on investment perspective, unless promotion strategy or her genre radically changes where she has a fighting chance, it doesn't make sense to put out and promote albums to the mainstream until she turns 90 if they are selling less and less, charting less and less, getting less and less streams, the label doesn't take her seriously, and the music isn't even being sent to the right radio stations. Even my favorite (and the highest selling American) girl group of all time TLC retired from putting out more albums in 2017, which crushed me personally, but I respect it on a business level because it wasn't worth it anymore to keep putting out great content for it to be ignored. That's why I said previously I would like to know what Mariah's intention is when she puts out music: is it 100% a hobby with no care of its success or failure or is it still business? If it's business, it may be in her best interest to change direction, change strategy or cut her losses at some point in her life. If it's strictly for personal fulfillment then she can put out and promote albums at 98 with a gray wig and no teeth for all I care. I just don't believe that Mariah's at the point where she doesn't care at all about the business of "Mariah Carey" and neither are most lambs or there wouldn't be so many streaming, charting, image or views discussions when her albums come out if it was strictly about the sound of her music, and that's it.

The documentary (88,764) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
This latest documentary is same one that was shown in the UK not too long ago and a lot of it was a tall tale and exaggeration especially the part about the car. At this point anything coming from Damizza is based on him still sucking on sour grapes and honestly I think that he just like Stella, Walter, and others are just upset that Mariah has moved on with her life and she has not looked back and has been able to find happiness and sustain success without them. Obviously these people need MC’s name for people to even pay attention to them no matter who they have been afflicted with after.

Music (88,762) by enwar00 from usa
Why shan't Mariah just keep making music because she wants to? The answer is, she can. If it's something that makes her happy, and she is still capable, then why not. How stifling to stop doing what you love based on your past successes. Maybe popularity and sales and streams are not the only measurements of success anyway.

Re: Why (88,752) (88,760) by Matthew from USA
I think Mariah can continue to release music for as long as she wants to. Aretha dropped a covers album before she passed and Patti recently dropped a jazz album. So Mariah can do something like that. As of right now, she can also drop an album with current sounds. The reason for this is very superficial, but it's true. Mariah still looks good. The thing with Janet, Madonna, or Lil Kim trying to put out a current club banger is that, well, the plastic surgeries aren't able to mask their age anymore. And in this superficial world, if you don't look hot you can't try to make hot music, at least if you are a woman. Mimi seems to be in the JLo group for the genetic lottery, which means she can actually still try to do something a little current. Another thing working in her favor is that unlike JLo, Janet, Kim and Madonna, Mariah's act involves ballads and ballgowns, which translates well into old age. So even when she moves into full elder matron mode, she can still kind of do her ballgown diva thing without it being weird or desperate.

Mariah retire? (88,756) by Dove from United States
Mariah's albums have never disappointed me. I feel like being in the studio is her forte and she never goes wrong in that area. If she needs to make money she should keep touring but if she's okay with the money she's made, and what she's accomplished so far, she should just relax and travel with her kids and make straight to consumer albums. For fun. Just for herself and the lambs. A lot of us don't love R&B but we'll still support her because we love her voice. But maybe she can throw us a few bones and record an album of standards or jazz or gospel songs. (She could get someone like Walter Afanasief who can knows how to make the computer sound like real instruments.) Before she leaves the record company she should release all the B-sides and unreleased tracks and maybe a collection of her best performances and the Tokyo concert. And any other gems we don't know about. She has to make an announcement that this is what she's doing so us fans can lower our expectations and accept that she's not going to chart anymore, because she can't without the support from the machine.

Re: Why (88,740) (88,754) by jaker20 from US
B, I guess when I meant collab, I meant songs where she relegates her role to a feature. This opens her world into different artists and be inspired and reach a new audience. Sure it's a massive downgrade but she is lending her name and she is getting updated. Honestly this is her only way into current music landscape again. But if she can break through with one hit she will open her discography to generation z who don't know her songs outside of Christmas. That is how she rebooted herself with I Know What You Want. Five years is a long time to be gone in mainstream, but 10 years since Obsessed, well that is basically retirement to some people. Many generation z don't even know her songs at all.

It's actually a little more interesting to watch than the original. It's hard to understand what Stefflon Don is saying though. Oh well, she just got two YouTube streams from me. I'm liking the new Missie track with Lizzo. I wonder if it will get airplay. I suspect, yes.
