Re: A No No video (88,381) (88,387) by Matthew from USA
You know what? It's not that bad. Someone once said the difference between artists and celebrities is that the artist is never really completely comfortable with the spotlight. They just want to create, they don't know how to be famous. Mariah is a sexy lady, but her attempts to be sexy in videos don't always pan out, and can range from amusing to awkward to cringeworthy. Unlike someone like JLo, who I consider more of a professional celebrity than artist, it usually never seems completely natural. That's probably why her videos with a script work better. Despite the fact that there is no story, she's also not trying so hard like with the cringe of I Don't or the awkward shimmying of #Beautiful. And that's how I like her, not trying too hard. So this video isn't that bad for me - it's a very chill kind of sexy like in The Roof. The very last second shot of her is in a different outfit than the rest of the video, so I'm assuming there is also going to be a remix video with that outfit. Also, on just a side note, Mariah is so pretty.

It's a no no from me (88,386) by Hanno van Leeuwen from The Netherlands
On this messageboard it's just fine to burn Mariah down to everything she does but if you complain about that nasty Englishman or the webmaster, you're message is not being published, sad but true.

The witch is death (88,385) by Tijl from Belgium
Stella is now called "Stella Stolper" and will get her arse kicked in court. All claims previously directed at Mariah seem to be Stella's product of misconduct. If you treat people cheap the bill will be double.

It's so disappointing. With the exact same amount of money and hired dancers and extras they could've come up with a good video, if only they sat for one second and thought of an idea. There is no direction, no storyline, nothing. Even a simple idea like Mariah enters the train with three bodyguards (the dancers), everyone looks at her and recognizes her, because, well she's Mariah Carey, they look at the ads for Caution, start smiling, maybe someone's watching the GTFO or With You video on his/her phone (product placement for extra $). Some people take photos. There's the guy who's done Mariah wrong reading his newspaper on his way to work, when he sees her he hides behind his paper. Then the beat starts from one of the bodyguard's speaker (another extra $). Everyone on the train starts shaking their heads along, from old people to the little black girl from Fantasy and Shake it Off. Mariah starts singing. Then as the song goes everyone starts dancing while Mariah ridiculizes the guy singing the lyrics to him. The lights change from blue to red idk, some cool people enter the train, which now looks like a nightclub, (No, no, no, no, no, no, no, I said no.) You have different styles of dancing, hip hop, voguing, etc. Then at the end the guy shamefully exits the train at the next station while everyone laughs at him. Mariah has the last laugh, "I think that was it, yep." It's not great, but at least there's a progression and it costs exactly the same amount. The problem is not that Mariah's videos are cheap, it's that they're not telling anything, that's why it's so boring.

Disappointing. She looks freakin' incredible but this is the result of a four day shoot? Or should we be expecting some surprises the coming days?

I don't like it. Why are MC's videos so boring and painful to watch the last three eras? Touch My Body was her last great video. A hot video and song equals airplay and sales. A No No is dead along with a 191,000 worldwide copies sold of Caution. Epic is going to drop her this year. I am sorry for being negative but I was smh at that crappy video wasted on a great song. She should have called in Chris Tucker or Kevin Hart for a hot video.

Another wasted potential. What a terrible video. I'm so disappointed. I do enjoy the added whistle tones though. But really, that's what we came up with? People dancing in the aisle of subway train? With Mariah sitting? I can't.

So I got a chance to see the video, someone from China posted the link on Twitter. There is no remix in the video. The video is ok, but I don't get the whole concept. It seems to have no bearing on the lyrics. Roc and Roe are also in the video, cute but odd addition to the concept.

A note on Caution (88,378) by anonymous from UK
So it's now March and I still listen to the Caution album daily, and I love it more with each listen. The singles GTFO and With You are absolute perfection for Mariah Carey records in 2018 (going into 2019) and the rest of the album is just so addictive. It is not an album full of potential killer singles like E=MC2, and although that's what sells nowadays, I'm so, so happy that this album is just that - an album. A lot, if not most of my most treasured MC songs are album cuts (I'm looking at you Sent From Up Above, Subtle Invitation and For The Record in particular), however, back to the Caution adoration. Why do I love this album so much and no longer care about number one hits and public relevance? Well, the answer lies within the fact that Mariah makes music that still resonates with me, that I want to hear; sometimes I feel like Mariah makes music just for me, because she seldom dips below music I don't want in my life (Rainbow, eurgh, don't get it). She makes music that I can enjoy and brings me satisfaction as a soundtrack to my daily life. Mariah is now, whether we as fans, her team or Mariah herself accepts or likes, a legacy act. She is a legend in the music world, unsurpassed and quite unbeatable in terms of impact. Caution may be a sales flop; in fact, I'd argue that's not an argument now. 191,000 copies worldwide sucks. It's crap. But why am I not worried about it, or even care? Because the music is authentic and believable, it's music by my favourite artist, and I believe in it. I take pride in saying Mariah is my favourite artist of all time. Most, if not all, artists 30 years into their careers become legacy acts (if they can make it that long) because times change, people move on, and the taste of the general public shifts. Mariah makes music, to my ears and sensibilities, that is still the "Mariah" sound. People have moved on, and that's ok. I don't begrudge anyone loving Ariana, Ed, Adele, whoever, hey, that's life. But the fact is, at age 48, MC has finally delivered an album that even critics applaud, it feels honest and it feels, dare I say it, like Mariah not only is truly free to make the music she wants, but like music she's having so much fun making. I think this is reflected in her recent tour shows, where she has drastically revamped the set list. I didn't buy tickets because I've seen Mariah twice, I've seen the set list and I'm short on cash; I now wish to god I'd bought tickets to this concert tour, because I wish I could witness Mariah finally having fun with her own catalogue. Let us just remember, as much as we love these creations of hers, they are, and always will be, hers. They are her children, and she should damn well be proud of them, her achievements, and herself. Mariah may be incredibly flawed, and doesn't hide it well, but I'd say that actually, looking beyond the millions of dollars in the bank and the diva facade, it makes her so ridiculously relatable and human. And for that, I say out loud and for evermore; I am a Mariah fan, lamb, Stan, whatever. I just love Mariah, no Caution needed.

I'm baaaaaaaack. It's cute, simple, and at least they could afford some extras on the shoe string budget the label seems to be giving her these days.

Eternally optimistic (88,376) by Randy from USA
I'm watching the numbers you all throw up and how well MC is doing on this chart or that chart and I'm amused that you all think Caution has achieved some great feat. I like A No No a lot but it's not going to impact radio. And what is a Stefflon Don? But you guys keep scraping the bottom of the pudding cup, expecting gourmet dessert. I think MC will sell again once she ditches everything, the dresses, makeup, extensions, the boyfriend and the campiness. Once she sings unplugged songs in her register, and is as mature in her image and songs as Adele, whom is 18 years younger. She'll sell and then you guys will have more to celebrate than her hitting #173 on MySpace's bubbling under singles on the lead r&b station in Pitchfork, South Dakota.

I actually like it. Stefflon adds an extra layer to the song and with a good video this might actually take off. Not expecting a number one but I'm just glad MC is working with new talents giving them some platform. She'll get plenty of support for that alone. Besides it's a hot song.

So true. Stefflon Don is a brilliant new female rapper. I think she will add something hot to A No No.

"Jay-Z and Beyoncé's joint album has only sold 50,000 copies worldwide." Not true. "Everything Is Love" sold 500,000 copies in the USA alone, not worldwide. "Caution" sold 85,000 copies in the USA. There were albums of Mariah which sold more copies in a single day.

It’s not what we hoped for but everything featuring Stefflon Don is on constant rotation on Dutch urban radio so that’s good I guess.

Re: A No No feat. Stefflon Don (88,358) (88,368) by Eduardo from Mexico
I have the same feeling, since Cardi B released "Please me" the first though that came to my mind was that Cardi B prefered to work with Bruno Mars rather than Mariah because now he is way more popular than Mariah.

I just hope A No No could be successful to prove Cardi B wasn't needed for a hit and of course Cardi B is popular now but in the future she will be another Nikki Minaj or Iggy Azalea who are not popular anymore.

Awe you tripping. Stefflon Don is on her way to blowing up here in the US. I believe she is from the UK. It would have been cool to see Missy, Lil Kim, or Cardi B on the remix but Stefflon Don in my opinion is dope and she is starting to catch on fire.

Re: A No No feat. Stefflon Don (88,358) (88,366) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I never heard of Stefflon Don. Google says she's a British female rapper. I'm not disappointed that it's not Cardi B. I never understood why this woman is popular/in? For me it's average, nothing special about her. Anyway I remember that MC wanted to work with Justin Timberlake for the remix back then. Maybe his management was against it, I found it dumb from Mr. Timberlake. Maybe Stefflon Don will surprise us and suits well to the No No remix.

Re: The singles this era (88,353) (88,364) by B from USA
Expecting Mariah Carey to sell 28 million copies of an album in 2018/2019 is unrealistic. Caution selling almost 200,000 is impressive considering Jay-Z and Beyoncé's joint album has only sold 50,000 copies worldwide.
