Re: New Rolling Stone article (86,409) (86,411) by Bobby A from United States
Webmaster, I am so sorry. I am really good at reading the news section before I post. It dawned on me after I posted that I didn't check the news section first. Can you forgive me? I didn't mean to make you mad at me. I will be more diligent in checking before I post. Again I am sorry for my stupid mistake. Thank you for MCArchives.

Look to the left, to the left. It's in the news section to the left. To add a link right click copy then right click paste where you want to put it.

New Rolling Stone article (86,408) by Bobby A from United States
Rolling Stone has a new article on the web about Mariah taking back control for Caution. This article really explains how Caution came to be in our hands today. Checkout it out. I wish I knew how to link it to my post. Somebody tell me please.

Body of work (86,407) by Robby from Chicago USA
I have said this before and im saying this again, do not read his post at all, you never should. He is here to inflict negativity, much more, to ruin your day (and Mariah will say moment). I get that we have to stand up against bullies, yes he is a bully and anyone who doesn't know that is stupid, but his bullying shouldn't matter at all. Because it is whatever, lol. I wanted to say something derogatory but I know it won't be posted and Christmas is around the corner so yeah, let us just be festive. I just don't understand his negativity towards Mariah at all. But hey, let's just pray for him that soon he will get better hahaha. Meds please.

Anyway, I love the album, Caution is on my repeat. I love all the tracks except OMG and SLLY. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. God bless.

Oh the excitement (86,406) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I know this has been mentioned many times before, but it really is worth repeating and appreciating how excellently this era has been handled promotion-wise. Not just with the strategic song releases, but with the cohesiveness of the theme of the entire thing. The pink theme on the cover art and promotional caution tape and merch have been carried over to The Mariah Experience and her live appearances at the AMAs, the Jimmy Fallon show, and GMA. Even the rollout for E=MC2 has not been this detail-oriented. I know it's a small thing, but it's the small details that matter and make the difference at times.

And on top of this we have the rumored A No No remix. If it does materialize, it would be hell for Nicki Minaj. Three people she had famous beef with collaborating on a defiant track is a huge blow in itself, and possible success will just be salt in the wound. But I'd prefer they deviate from the obvious public expectation of making this a petty Nicki diss track and instead make it more of an empowerment anthem with a kickass pink video. I hope it sustains the interest in Caution like Cardi B's appearance on Girls Like You renewed interest in Maroon 5 and Red Pill Blues.

Thanks for sharing your experience. You're lucky to have met her. I know how beautiful she really is, I could see it in concert where I had a good view. "We have an MC album for every mood" that's, true. Another thing I really love and appreciate.

Re: Giving Me Life (still) (86,388) (86,404) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yes, Giving me life is very special (in a positive way), loved it from the beginning. It has the vibe of "The Roof" but the mood is even darker. I can't get this song out of my head. And a mini movie would be great. It is my favorite at the moment from the album. Followed by "Caution", "8th Grade", and "Portait". It's nice to see that "Giving Me Life" gets so much love from most of you.

Re: Body of work (86,371) (86,402) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
First of all, it is a good body of work. Second, please do try to wipe out the internet - God knows we all need a break from it. Three, the entire internet cannot be wrong. A consensus always counts for something, especially on a subject as polarizing as music, it is a rarity and all the more significant.

This solid body of work will sneak up on you. I'm telling you it will, just like GTFO and With You eventually did. You're right about With You, though. It is beautiful. Derivative, but beautiful and an excellent example of contrasting melodies that when taken individually should not work together, but weirdly do as a whole. #JusticeForWithYou

I'm pretty much bang on with you on this Andrew. After trying unsuccessfully to pre order the physical CD I trotted down to JBhiFi on Friday and bought one off the shelf. The cover art for this one is good, it stood out. The security guy who stamped my receipt actually had a good look. Popped it in the player for my 45 minute drive home and thought:
1. OK so she made a making out album.
2. I wish it were not so specific as Tanaka may well be a grand bloke but it's just way too much information.
3. There is no radio single here. The Distance and A No No are possible.
4. Caution (song) does get better on subsequent listens.
5. GTFO and With You are really enjoyable without the videos and the self stroking and stumble stomp walking.
6. Giving Me Life has a great hook, I suspect it will grow on you
7. The second half of the album is weaker and Portrait is Petals with more adolescent lyrics/rhyming for the sake of rhyming.
8. She should have held over Make it Look Good for this album.

Re: A lengthy meditation on the album (86,391) (86,400) by RibbonB from USA
Aww, don't be mad at Golden. If you are implying that Mimi asked Nickey for one more try after James, of course he would say no to a rebound after a rebound. But your baby is happy to be her dependent though, so there is that.

Different opinions / Caution (86,399) by Malcolm from Asia
Respect that everyone has opinions different from the other and not pushing your taste and views to everyone as if you are the right one. I can't really understand why does someone will stay in a place where they're not happy and contented. I guess it's not about Mariah anymore, it's about proving their point every time so that they feel superior.

Anyway, I love Caution and 8th Grade so much. Everything about this era is good, though it doesn't seem that it will have a commercial success, the album being called as "universal acclaim" alone is wonderful, so happy for her. But what irks me a little is their release date same with 4 new albums, wish they released it earlier or after that week.

Glitter on iTunes (86,398) by Liz Archer from Sweden
So I tried to listen to the album Glitter on iTunes in Sweden. Can't find it, have they removed it? The mystery continues, can't find it on Spotify either. I'm in Sweden. I know I've seen them there before but now it's not listed. Nor are the songs like Loverboy.

Justice for Glitter? How about justice for 90s MC (86,397) by J from USA
I think the lambs should start a new hashtag calling it #JusticeFor90sMariah. I honestly dislike how she tends to talk or downplay her first 4 albums and even when she he does talk about them, she'll only mention certain songs like we get it, it wasn't the best time for you MC, but legit some of your best songs are in the debut, Emotions, Music Box and Daydream album. Her tour setlist are always the same, she'll sing a random song here and there but then she won't do it again. The only reason she sang [...] is because it was the #1s tour so she had to do them. Look at how dirty she did Someday by putting the live version on the Infinity album, like why? Lol. Not but really guys.

TRL Elevator moment (86,394) by Taylor from USA
I was the blonde girl in the TRL elevator video. This was my 4th time meeting Mariah, and the absolute best. Mariah was so sweet, personable and chatty with us. She answered all of our questions, gave us hugs/kisses and sang. I even touched her hair and she didn't care. I was able to have two moments with Mariah where she gave me full one on one attention. I asked her if I could have a second to tell her how much she means to me, and she said "of course", and hugged me. When we left the elevator she hugged me again and said "Thank you for telling me your story." I can't say enough good things about that entire experience, it was truly a dream come true. Oh also, she was stunning. Her skin is perfection, not a single pore and her eyes are huge doe eyes.

Also, for people saying Mariah wasn't gracious enough about Glitter going number one? She totally was, she tweeted about it, dedicated an insta to it and directly thanked the fans on every interview.

As for Caution. I am obsessed. I think it's one of Mariah's best albums. The productions, set list, lyrics everything is perfection. Mariah is a musical genius. I love that ever album of hers is different, we have an MC album for every mood. Mariah is queen, and if you are here to talk sh*t about her then "be nice or leave".

Re: A lengthy meditation on the album (86,391) (86,393) by Licia from USA
A FLAB like song is exactly what was missing. Portrait is nice, but it's no FLAB. Special K no one needs the thoughts of her being intimate with Banaka Tanaka. That's so gross. Lol.

"With You is beautiful and memorable." Really Andrew? That song blah, blah, blah. Mariah got about twenty With You's in her catalog.

Re: A lengthy meditation on the album (86,356) (86,391) by Special K from USA
I 100% agree with you Bill. After listening to this album for the second time today, I feel like Mariah was very purposeful in writing songs that were fun and bit raunchy. Why? Because MC Wilhelmina Holla is having alot of fun and probably sex with my baby right now as we speak. Anyways, the MIAM album Mimi was crying, camouflaging her tears, her man was fading and his sorry ass didn't know what to do. Sorry sucka didn't know if he wanted to stay or leave but in the end he made like meterorite and bounced. Mariah asked for one more try but he was too busy making babies with other woman. Haha. Honestly, the jury is still out for me regarding the Caution album as a whole. I get Mariah wanted to put out a fun record but damn she could have had at least two more powerful ballads on that joint. I need a Joyride or a FLAB. Anyone notice there is no gospel track? No remake? Mariah really went left on this project but I ain't mad her.

Wendy oh Wendy - don't look like an idiot again (86,390) by Critter from USA
"I was watching Wendy Williams a couple weeks ago, and she made a comment about how Mariah just walks into a studio and songs are made for her and she just sings them," he says. "I want to let her know: No. Mariah writes all her records. She's very involved in every step of the way. She knows her stuff."

Proceed with caution (2): people are forgetful (86,389) by Ethan from United States
Aging has caught up to me because I've left out some points.

1. Not just to shade JLo and others, but people are indeed forgetful. Mariah was nominated twice as a songwriter for the Grammy's Song of the Year for VOL and WBT (to me, she was robbed). The year after her self-titled album, she was nominated for Producer of the Year for her efforts of Emotions. Look it up (as I hope the younger generation would do since they're so consumed in social media). I don't know why some people are still talking about her as a songwriter in 2018.

2. Yes, With You is memorable because it's the formulaic, melodic song that we've grown up listening to and used to. From LTT and CLG to WBT and ISIL, it makes sense that it's easier to remember on the first listen. Of course, it will take several times to get into newer sounds and vibes of songs on Caution.

3. The Distance: It'd be great if Mariah/Tyga Dolla $ign change the word from "Silent" to "Resilient", then it'd be part of the Mariahcabulary as in "We're too strong, we're too resilient." Just a thought.

4. A No No. I was hesitant about the idea of having Cardi B on the remix (because of her erratic personality), but I guess it's a go as long as there's no dissing of Nicki Minaj on the remix. No more drama please.

5. Body of work. It's going to piss someone's name starting with A and ending with W on here but I'm going to say again Caution is about a body work. Let me remind people that Mariah and her team (except for one person, aka LA Reid) was going to release TEOM without ILT, WBT, SIO, DFAU (later re-release) because the rest of the songs are made up as a body of work. Do you think Say Somethin would hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100? No. Mine Again? No. Stay The Night? No. Get Your Number? No. Fly Like a Bird? No. A no no. It's a great record without a commercial, massive hit, but thanks to her work with JD, it generated 3-4 more songs that were released simultaneously one after the other.

6. Again, there's a disconnect with critics and some fans. Billboard, Rolling Stone, and other publications have been covering Mariah on a daily basis since the release of Caution. RS just released another article titled, "Mariah Carey Made Her Best Album of the Decade by Taking Back Control." Go read it.

7. Some fans are asking too much. Non-beat songs. Live-band songs. 90s Mariah. No features. No rappers. And so on. Mariah has been giving a bit of everything since 1990. Last year's live-band with full orchestra song was The Star. Did y'all support it? It even got nominated for the Golden Globes. FYI.

8. The Grammys. I've been boycotting the show since 2006. If Mariah indeed wins something for Caution next year, it better be televised. I do believe her that sometimes the media has soiled, especially the Grammys. I wrote a long post about it a few years ago if people want to read it.

9. Interestingly, the album was originally named Portrait (according to Mariah). I'd support that as well. But overall, we all know the 90s Mariah is gone and she's adapting to what she's got left now.

10. To quote Todd's words, let's get a Coke or Sprite, whichever you prefer but don't yuck my yum (exclamation mark). Cue AIWFCIY. Happy holidays y'all.

Giving Me Life (still) (86,388) by Will from Australia
Can't move on from this song. Just obsessed with it and have it on repeat driving everyone crazy. It has that vibe that The Roof has but I was totally not ready for The Roof when I first heard it as it so so departed from that other Mariah pre-Buttefly and it took a while for me to appreciate it. But GML is at a moment in her career where i'm totally ready for that Roof 2.0.

Funny how we accept when our artist develops into something we might not have been ready for back in the 90s to something we now long for. GML is one of her best songs ever. I played it from the start of the outro with the electric guitar as if it were an intro to the song (songs on repeat) and it really changes the tone. Try it.
