Mariah: The Diva, The Demons, The Drama (87,153)
by Lee from UK

I'm watching the new documentary on Channel 5 in the UK. It has her brother, her sister, Walter, Ben Margulies and every other Tom, Dick and Harry from her past. That famous Mariah look-a-like keeps popping up in dramatised re-enactments. It is making me so mad. I can't stop watching though.

Mariah is the best thing that ever happened to him and if you wrote a biopic today of him, the highlight would be Mariah. Mariah went on the get countless of other legendary achievements without him. This is why Mariah stayed away from him all these years, you can't trust a opportunist, he never really cared for her but at least he saw how talented Mariah was and how far she could take him. He may have worked with all of those artists afterwards, but he hasn't even achieved a quarter of the success he had with Mariah. Which truly means there was no magic with him and now he taking credit for lyrics we all know he never wrote. Can't wait for Mariah's memoir so we can set things straight. I hope since he is talking so much, Mariah doesn't really hold back and goes after him hard. It's a no no for me.

Why should Mariah acknowledge Ariana? MC did acknowledge real artists so many times since day one. And she's still praising other musicians. But should a singer praise every other singer just because they are in the same business? I don't think so. I would never praise a person if I don't like him/her. That's normal. It has nothing to do with insecurity. It's better to say nothing sometimes than saying something positive when it's not true and not heartfelt. Mariah doesn't need to play up to Ariana. Fun fact: I love Julia Roberts. I love her look and her acting. But I can't stand J.Lo for many reasons. Of course everyone has another taste, luckily.

He makes some valid points and certainly has a right to express his opinions. Mariah also has a right to tell her story the way she remembers it. As long as he gets paid for his share, then he really shouldn't complain. Mimi likes to focus on what she iikes at any given time. He is not a singer or performer so he will never get her shine, not does he have her responsibiities.

"Walter A is full of shit. He is angry that since the Butterfly era MC has paid him dust."
See this is what I'm taking about. She's also paying Ariana dust because according to you guys she doesn't have to acknowledge her. How is that even a good thing? That's just how someone is projecting their insecurities, which in Mariah's case considering her legend status is just sad. Whether an artist is competition or is "just copying" Mariah should be above it all, because as someone who achieved enormous success and miles away in terms of talent, she is in fact above it all. But insecurity is never a good character, people see through it. Why not produce some of Ariana's songs or new talents like her, or write with young new talents? That's how you embrace competition. Gracefully. It helps you if you're genuinely not bothered by it. Look at how Madonna's fans trolled Lady Gaga and how the tables have turned since. Now look at how Julia Roberts produced JLo's romantic comedies at time when Roberts owned that genre. Apart from the fact that it made Julia very rich, she is rewarded for it. You all need to tone down your insecurities before it bites you back. Its not even good for Mariah's career anyway.

But she won 3 Grammys without him. If he is so successful, why is he bitching and moaning? Why was he on "Nail Files"? Where is his half-billion fortune? He should be worth billions.

"Walter is trying to get attention more than anything because no one is knocking on his door to work with him."
Really? After he and Mariah split, he worked with Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Luciano Pavarotti, Kenny G, Ricky Martin, Daryl Hall, Lara Fabian, Tina Arena, Josh Groban, Lionel Richie, Jessica Simpson, Destiny's Child, Michael Bolton, Babyface, Santana, Earth Wind & Fire, Gladys Knight, Leona Lewis, Brian McKnight, Jordin Sparks, Idina Menzel, and many, many others. I would say he is extremely successful.

She is famous here in the Netherlands for her Whitney cover act but the ordinary people here doesn't like her because she's got attitude and difficult to work with. Her voice is good but I don't like her and I don't like her screaming at the end of almost every song she sings.

Jaker20 (87,136)

Walter A is full of shit. He is angry that since the Butterfly era MC has paid him dust. Yes they made some great memories and music together. But he is trying to get attention more than anything because no one is knocking on his door to work with him. He went from being associate/assistant and musician to MC's right hand man and how did that come into play because MC put the word in Tommy's ear about how they clicked and how she liked working with him. So Walter needs to stop with the dramatics and move on. It's been two decades since they have worked on anything else and he is just mad that he just like some others that he is no longer part of MC's success. After many of the fans read this interview I hope that they now understand that MC and Walter will never work together again, and respect MC's wishes for not wanting to work with him. He only reason to do this interview is get attention and press and make MC look bad because she is still the press conference while he's just a mere conversation.

Mariah should do this (87,135)
by ksquarred from paris
| |
|

And perform Loving You by Minnie Riperton for example, and then finish a song from the new album. Everyone is always accusing her of always lip-synching (which is partly true), doing something like this would shut down people who say she can't sing anymore.

That is a beautiful cover. I like it because she doesn't sound like Mariah but it still sounds good and she isn't straining to hit the notes. Jojo's cover is good too. I just watched a bunch of live performances by Glennis and you're right, she's amazing. I can't believe I've never heard of her before. I could hear hints of lots of icons in her voice: Whitney, Tina Turner, Selena. Color me impressed. How is she not super famous?

I was thinking about what I wrote and it's kinda mean. I'm not that person. If Ariana inspires young people like Mariah inspired me then good for her and her fans. She's not my cup of tea but people obviously love her so I take back my negativity and wish her prosperity and success.
