Not trying for charts (84,540)
by Lara from Middle East
| |
|
|
I think that the rollout for the single is deliberately done this way after GTFO didn't go viral as expected so they knew her next release won't have a big impact. Releasing it a day earlier (before charts counts) delaying radio play and the video... the stalling will be the excuse why the single didn't pick up. No idea if ageism is involved because here, JLo always gets airplay while I don't even get to hear Mariah's songs without requesting it.

Mariah will never ever see her self as anything but an R&B singer. I think she'll keep making the same slightly updated sounding music as long she keeps recording. As amazing as a Jazz album or a standards album would be, I think she would consider that not being true to her roots and who she is as an artist and she is too vain to do it sadly.

Mariah Carey flaunts... (84,536)

Everything. All the time. Endlessly. And she needs to get some class back. She used to have it. I think I speak for a vast number of people who are bored brainless of new pictures of Mariah posing looking sexy and new videos of Mariah, um, posing looking sexy. The whole thing is mindless vanity and I am not quite sure who she thinks likes this. Someone should remind her she's not a model but a singer. Sorry, "songwriter".

This is what I have been saying for a long time. Mariah needs to record a jazz album. Her current voice and her penchant for using her soft, whispery voice will fit perfectly in the genre. Besides she's been doing jazz live when she freestyles and she's amazing at it, so it makes sense. I, for one, will buy it. Hard.

I agree May. Doing something with jazz and live band arrangements would be awesome for her career and image right now. And might be that this kind of thing would even sell way more than the music she is doing right now. I am not even talking about doing covers. I wish for her own songs and then maybe a couple new songs in that vein. This would restore her credibility as a musician tenfold.

When and where was it reported that she did three songs with Mike Will Made It for MC15? That sounds like a stone cold winner.

I can't find any updates about the causes of his death. Very strange, indeed. I don't know if the rumors about him were true or not, but he was great during the SSFT and a great asset in Mariah's oeuvre. I've always felt he was her own "Jam & Lewis" if that makes sense. Just sad.

Nick is always going to be connected to Mariah because they share two kids together. Your comments are silly, considering you could have just watched the interview to see why he mentioned her and in what context. If someone is speaking on their life and career in a one hour interview they are bound to come up. Just as Mariah mentions Nick in major interviews. Only pictures were shown of all three kids. But whatever, the interview was actually great. Shrug.

I honestly was waiting for that jazz and blues mini album. She doesn't have to throw a whole album with 15 songs, but a mini of 5-6 songs in a mature lightning like Diana Krall would have been amazing. She could re arrange some of her classics and throw one new song and that would have been great. She needs to venture other scenes. At least for a while.

He asked her for the divorce. The guy had a child with someone else. He has been completely moved on since forever. It was Mariah who took time to heal and probably held the door open for the longest. People, give it up. Mariah Cannon ain't happening ever again. Cannons.

Producers for MC 15 (84,525)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
| |

|
So far these are producers M has worked with for MC 15, Mike Will Make it - they worked together on 3 songs. Poo bear has about 7-8 they did together. She has worked with Blood Orange she put in work with No ID. She has also worked with Mustard and Nineteen 85 as we know along side the usual suspects JD and B.Cox so honestly she has given her fans what they have asked for. It's just that it still has the MC touch rather than the touch of the specific producers which is ok because if she goes too far out of the box sonically or goes in the direction of a certain producers sound it will become stale as MOIA did production wise with Tricky and Dream doing most of the album. So let's be careful for what we ask for.

Mariah's releasing this track to A/C and Hot AC which is weird because this is an R&B track with cussing. I'm assuming there's a clean version. However, the impact date for radio play isn't until October 15. Mariah's AMA performance takes place on the 9th while the iHeartRadio festival performance was playing on TV today. Honestly, I'll just be happy to see her promote a real single which is something she hasn't done since #Beautiful. Live shows, TV interviews, magazine covers, and maybe some YouTuber reach outs like she did with the MAC line all sound like promising endeavors. I was really expecting something more of a "roar" for a lead single instead of this purr. Maybe she'll meow at some point. The one thing I miss about her promo is she'd do something surprising. In '99 she was the first major pop artist to stream her song on her website. She used to leave voice messages. I don't think she uses social media to her advantage as she could. A well rested voice with an acoustic set and an "isolated vocal leak" of this caliber would be a positive domino affect. She could use one of those.

I sound far from uneducated. However, my post was right on the money when I said you sound paranoid and pressed. Let's add idiotic to the list. Mariah and Nick are famous. Their marriage was high profile. One saying anything about the other still grabs headlines. That's not uncommon at all for western societies that are very celebrity driven and which celebrity romances, relationships, and marriages, past and present, play a big part in. This happens to many celebrities. Nick isn't some anomaly. Uncensored is a show where celebrities talk about their lives and experiences, so it's not as if he wasn't asked about his relationship with Mariah or how they met. There is someone in front of him asking these questions and then he answers them. The show is then edited to make it seem like he or anyone else in front of the camera is just freely talking and there's no one in front of him or her. None of the situation has nothing to do with the subconscious mind. Do take off your tin foil hat and put away your ridiculous conspiracy theories because, while I conquered reading a long time ago, you're proudly wearing your dumbass-ness. It's not cute.

And maybe she knows he would never take her back, we could go back and forth on that. But the fact remains to the original poster that he has a right to talk about it as part of his life story. And calling it mind games, just might mean these little worry warts feel threatened by his truth. And he really didn't say anything new, that any fan during 2008 hadn't already heard, but it's part of his story. He's sad, she's happy, or vice versa, we only know what they say. I wish them both well. Is Mimi over it, she still writes petty songs about it. GTFO is not about James, when he told her to GTFO his tugboat. But anyway, Mimi says nice things about their present relationship and co parenting in her interviews and he does the same. So where's the mind games in that? If other outlets picked up in the Mimi portion, it just means there is still interest in that, despite what either one is currently doing.

Question about sales (84,519)
by Atwood from NY
| |
|
|
Does she really need a single that sets off and climbs high on the charts? Or even enters Billboard Hot 100? If I'm not mistaking I recall several well many many artists that never have hit singles for any album they release. Why would they take the time and effort on releasing a buzz single, then announcing the actual official single and having these listening parties? I'm pretty sure whatever happens the album is gonna drop with or without a hit. On another note I am actually surprised the video for "With you" hasn't been released yet.

GTFO was a buzz song that was only promoted by Mariah on her social media accounts and during her iHeart performance. Other than that its recieved absolutely no support or promotion. Wasn't you praising the song just a few weeks ago?

I'd say most straight guys fell in love Mariah during that era, lol. Referencing Breakdown in With You was a stroke of genius as it's considered by most R&B fans as her best song.

It took Havana months before catching on. The streams and views of GTFO are increasing at steady pace. With You has a Clear Channel deal and outside of this board has been and is being well received.
