With You (84,295) by Todd from Sydney, Australia It's okay. Would I like it if it wasn't Mariah? Probably not. It's just kind of beige. Not bad. Not great. Nick was talking about the bubble she lives in - this is the bubble in which she assumes when she references the "Bone Thugs" song that every human on the planet knows she means Breakdown. It's the bubble in which she believes the "whole damn nation" knows that she was engaged to James Packer and is now with Bryan. She always says she doesn't listen to "pop music" so it's within this bubble that she believes this is a radio friendly jam. I'll save it on my Spotify and give it some love, but... sigh. I'm with you Mimi (84,294) by May from Denmark I really enjoyed the song. Lead single material? No. It seems like a leftover from MIAM though it is very Charmbracelet sounding. I do recall that right after MIAM she was working on some music and she announced a couple of times, when Stella was still in the picture, that she was working on an album. Considering the direction GTFO seemed to point to, I find it strange she would come with this new single as the main opener for her upcoming album. Maybe she was trying to give the fans what they always ask for, more mushy emotional music. I think With You is a beautiful song, there is a catchy thing about, it's not monotonous or boring, it's solid and quality material but not fresh enough, I like the lyrics. Anyone else having problems understanding some of the things she is singing lately? I had this same problem with GTFO and previous singles, it's like she is pronouncing some stuff like between her teeth or in a weird way, also a bit more nasal, it's like she is dragging some of the words. Can't explain. I had to listen to With You a couple of times before getting the whole lyrics and yet there are words I'm still like "huh?" I'm thinking that the reality is that she wanted GTFO to be the main single but it didn't receive the expected attention. It was good enough. But her YT had in days up to 4 million views while Gaga first day had 10 million. And both videos were equally boring to me though but Gaga's video had a story going on. Mariah misses opportunities, we all want another WBT video for love songs. Hopefully With You won't dissapoint. But I don't expect much. The photoshoots are gorgeous, love them, very glamorous. (84,293) by Lee from UK Melodically and vocally I love this song. It suits Mariah's current voice and shouldn't be too taxing to sing live without lip syncing. It sounds like I Stay in Love and Love Story in parts. As much I like Brian Tenaka, I think the lyrical content could have been less specific to him. With You reaction (84,290) by Liz Archer from Sweden Ok, this is my initial opinion. After a few listen I have to say I'm disappointed and underwhelmed. It's ok song but it's not something I would listen to many times. Also I don't love that whispery voice, idk why. The text is also not that great in my opinion. Compared to "Its like that" and "We belong together" (i.e. her recent songs) it's such an disappointment. Those were good singles. I don't know why they start with a "weak" song. The song doesn't really go anywhere, it's the same mid-tempo love song she's been doing for the last fifteen years. Nothing new. The song's pleasant enough, but not something to launch an album on in my view. Considering the hype and how well the promotion has been, it's a shame that the song is somewhat mediocre. With You - Andrew - nostalgia (84,287) by Citizen of the World from UK I've been a fan of Mariah''s since day one. I had Vision of Love on tape, I'm old school (and considered old by some). I grew up listening to Mariah, her music saved my life on many occasions. When I was down her sweeping, soaring vocals lifted me up, I have great musical memories. I have to say that I'm not feeling the music lately and in my experience that's a natural progression in life. We have friends that made huge impacts on our lives, but we lose contact, or grow apart as our tastes and lives change. We might reconnect years later or slowly drift apart forever. We will always have great memories and the experiences that shaped us as people to look back on. I feel that it's time for me to move on. Andrew - I don't know you, but I've been using MCArchives as my go to place for MC news for years. I hear you brother. You say what some of us feel. I share your frustration, your disappointment, your sense of loss for something that once brought you so much joy. I love your passion, but maybe like me our tastes and lives have changed. I'm not gonna get angry on here and say negative things, because if that's how I feel it's time to move on. Maybe I'll be back one day, who knows, but for now it's a fond farewell. With You (84,284) by darrian liu from taiwan It started off completely gorgeous, with loads of textures, an understated beat, and her signature airy vocals. It does drag quite a bit in the middle though. However, towards the end, she unleashed her whistles and belts, which picks the song back up into a stunning finish. It's what I would call a classic Mariah song. For some reason, it reminds me a lot of her songs in MOAIA, combined with a little of DFAU. Overall, again, not her best, but nonetheless a respectable addition to her repertoire. I could already feel the song growing quickly on me even on my second listen. It's not necessarily something new or experimental from Mariah, but this time, her formula doesn't feel tired. (Thursday 4 October 2018; 06:26)

It's hard, but... (84,275) by Edward from USA I know we all have this expectation that Mariah would pull a monster hit out of her weave just like that, but that's not the case without the fan-base she used to have to support her. It's not impossible, just very unlikely. We all know "Loverboy" was just a rushed mess that didn't deserve to even be played, yet it made it to #2, that was the power of the lambs buying multiple singles, calling to request, it was actually the most requested song that year. We're just three cats now, we alone don't have that power anymore. Unless she releases a song that the GP likes, we won't have a hit. But, do we so desperately want a hit or a great song? We used to have both, but I would be happy with the latter. That feeling of having Mariah hitting #1 left and right was a high we got so used to that we can't seem to let it go. It's time to just enjoy the music as-is, if you so like, or just stop listening. I don't care much about the charts anymore, I just hope Mariah doesn't recycle the same sound again. If the music is good, that's what matters at this point. "Almost Home" was a flop commercially, but it was a great song, it didn't sound rushed or half-cooked, that's what I'm expecting from her, quality more than anything. So far I like the snippet.
