Re: Detroit and surrounding areas (85,614) (85,620) by Victoria from USA
I'm in. I'm going to her Detroit concert next year. I probably come off as a psycho on this fan page. It's just that the see you next Tuesday Brit makes me lose my mind. I think he's getting paid to do what he does. There's no other reason for him to slither in everyday.

New interview: Anthony Burrell on Mariah (85,619) by Mercury from United States
Anthony finally goes in-depth about working with Mariah. He claims that Mariah's bipolar disorder is the cause of her vocal issues and the New Year's Eve debacle. Start at minute 31.

Re: Mariah's voice returning (85,615) (85,618) by Bill from the UK
Those vocal stylings were all part of MJ's brilliant and iconic delivery of his songs though. He also pretty much managed to sound great live right up until the end. Yelling "eh" and not stepping out of the speaking voice octave was not part of Mariah's brilliant and iconic delivery of her songs. This is why it gets criticised as much as it does. Her ticket prices are astronomical when you consider she neither moves nor sings during the 90 minutes she's on stage. All these great vocals from Asia are pre records. This time though Mariah's got a new trick. Rather than the classic and timeless hand out at arms length, head bowed gesture she did when lipping a climatic note, it's now stick a finger in the ear and waggle your head slightly. That's worth $100 surely.

Michael Jackson will always be remembered as an artist, not only as a great singer. Mariah was "the voice". If the voice is not there, there's no Mariah.

Re: Mariah's voice returning (85,613) (85,615) by Bobby A from United States
I don't know of any other singer whose voice gets analyzed and critiqued as much as Mariah Carey. MJ could sound hoarse, grunt, hee hee, and sha mone during his concerts and nobody ever analyzed and critiqued his voice like we do MC. She can't win for even sounding good on during the Asia tour. What gives.

Detroit and surrounding areas (85,614) by Chris from United States
I don't post here that often, but have introduced myself as a Chicago based fan. Recently, I have moved to Michigan. I was wondering if there were any fans in the Detroit, or surrounding areas that would like to meet for laughs and shenanigans. Maybe meet up after the concert. Idk. Let me know if interested.

Re: Mariah's voice returning (85,594) (85,613) by Edouard from France
Excuse me but if you believe that you simply loose your voice, you're just wrong. Mariah can be vocally tired but her voice is still there. Try to do half of what she does at 48 and then we'll see. There is a big difference between being vocally tired and overworked and having no voice whatsoever.

Re: Mariah vs. Michael (85,601) (85,611) by Hector from Mexico
Michael Buble's sales are stronger than Mariah's. I won't expect a number 1 for Caution.

I'm shocked. I can't believe JD produced A No No. It's the freshest beat he's provided Mariah with in years.

I think Michael Buble's album may chart higher than Mariah's here in the U.S. Not trying to be negative, just my honest hunch from what I've seen so far, and I'll be happy to be wrong on this. I really liked his new song although I only listened to it once.

Re: Mariah vs. Michael (85,601) (85,606) by Bobby A from United States
Mariah is going to be number #1 easily because her team has really been promoting Caution with 4 tracks, videos, and social media fan promos. It is going to be awesome to see her at Number 1 on the 23rd on Billboard. If you all plan on purchasing a physical copy from retailers like Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart and FYE, you may want call them early on the 16th to reserve one for you before you make the trip there. I am predicting physical copies are going to go really fast on 16th because of lack of huge quantities available at these retailers on the 16th. The big push has been pre-orders and the day of digital sales on the 16th.

Re: Mariah vs. Michael (85,601) (85,605) by Shezz from Pk
Damn. Buble might have a stronger first week no matter how much promo she does when she gets back to the US, which I don't think will be extensive. It will be interesting to see if the sales are better than MIAMTEC. General industry sales have gone down since then as well. Fingers crossed for a #1 debut. Looks tough.

I think MC's decision to use Crush On You sample is so brilliant of her. Twelve more days until Caution drops. It hard to believe that the 16th is almost here.

Re: Mariah's voice returning (85,594) (85,603) by Andrew from UK
My Swedish friend your annoyance is well founded. Things like "With each date her confidence grows and her vocals improve" is just absurdity beyond belief. Mariah does nothing but perform live on stage these days. Do you imagine that by the end of the Vegas residency she was singing like an uncaged bird, full of confidence and a master of her craft to having all of that reset - again - a couple of weeks later when a new tour starts? This is just utter nonsense. Truth be told, Mariah is seriously struggling now and there's no hiding from it. The only respite will be if the prerecord volume levels match the mic levels. And that doesn't appear to be the case - and if you can't hear it just wait for Mariah's usual "Is the prerecord gonna work?" look-to-the-sky panicked face and the post-lipped climax look-to-the-ground, heavy breathing "wait until I know they're not booing, please don't boo me" demure, vulnerable look. She needs to get herself to a doctor and stop knackering out what little range she has left for the sake of a money, alcohol and (possibly) drugs. What if it goes altogether? Then the party really is over.

Re: Abandon? (85,598) (85,602) by RibbonB from USA
JD probably just sits back watching those other producers try, knowing he should have the lead single. He and Mariah definitely work well together. I like the mashup video he tweeted today of Mimi and Lil Kim. Mimi can't dance, but a video paying hommage to the Crush on You video would be cute, especially with Kim on the remix.

Mariah vs. Michael (85,601) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
So Mariah and Michael Bublé are going head to head on November 16. Nothing from both Caution and (apparently pronounced Love) have really taken off, although both artists have loyal core fanbases that have dwindled through the years, albeit maybe more so for Mariah. The jazz-pop community tends to support anything Michael releases. We can't say the same for Mariah's wider yet more fickle R&B-pop fans. Both their sales have declined with their last 2 releases, so they're pretty much even at this point. I'm gonna get both albums, although I'mma get Caution on its tracking week and get Love a week later. Mariah hasn't had a #1 album in 10 years, so it would be really nice for her to have one by the end of the year. I'm just a bit worried about the purchases Michael might get from former fans who might have been misled by the untrue rumor of his retirement and that Love would be his last album. But Mariah has the stronger, catchier, all-original material and is supported by better promo so far, so I hope it works out for her this time. It would be a great Christmas gift to the woman whom we owe much of the festive holiday joy every year.

Damn I love her and the subtle shade to American idol. And maybe we are finally one step closer to a mentor gig one day. Mariah did amazing on that show, I wonder who they get next year.
