Re: Mariah and JD (82,811) (82,814) by Bobby A from United States
Maybe JD and Mariah can create something like Ella Mai's Boo'd Up. This song is the surprise hit of the 2018. A top 10 Hot 100 hit and #1 on the Urban chart. And it was released in 2017. This is just the type of song Mariah needs as the first single. A song that connects with radio audience without being so much about Mariah's life.

Maybe as album cuts not as singles unless they're able to find that magic that's been missing since 2008, each ballad except For The Record sounds like a WBT knockoff by an artist emulating Mariah. They sound like they so be on an Arianna album. I'm just glad she's writing with new collaborators.

I am pretty sure it's "take me/ow" but that seems a little, er, well if you think dirty you'll understand.

Can vouch for this. I bought Jade's Christmas tickets from her and she was where she said, when she said and was very lovely and very sweet. And it's not often I pay compliments.

Do you mean that's been his best in regards to MC or in regards to his whole career?

Re: JD hate (82,786) (82,806) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I respectfully disagree. I don't think there's a very distinctive "JD sound" apart from the usual claps that he uses for percussion and him talking in the background of some of the songs he produces. His contributions in MIAMTEC were his best in a while, as most of what he did for E=MC2 were basically obvious efforts to recapture the glory of WBT and weighed the album down. You were right about the versatility part, though, although I definitely like that more than you do. This just means his sound is evolving and isn't stuck in 1995 or 2005. Even Max Martin's productions these days (No Tears Left To Cry) sound nothing like ...Baby One More Time (1998) or I Kissed A Girl (2008). So should Mariah work with him again, they better make it sound fresh and inventive just like ABMB and WBT were when the first came out. Make It Look Good was his best effort in a long time. And like Hilton said, it must fit well within the overall sound of the album.

So far (82,805) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
So we only know of three producers that have been working with Mariah. One is Poo Bear who said that they have worked on 7-8 songs. Also Jermaine and B. Cox and we do not how far they have gotten in the creative process. I am sure there are other people in the mix who we do not know about. Honestly as long as we get a great body of work that is all that matters to me. Who she works with is not my concern as long as she is happy with the results and we are happy as her consumers and supporters that should be all that we care about besides wanting everything to be done right as far as promotion, performances, and the right single choices.

Re: JD hate (82,778) (82,803) by Terna from Nigeria
I don't have a problem with Mariah working with Jermaine, I actually even think her best songs were crafted with him and his squad. If you take away all the Jermaine tracks from "The Emancipation of Mimi", it falls flat on its face so he's pivotal to the success of this new album and she knows this. However, what I don't appreciate is that hollering he has a tendency to do every eight bars or so ala "Love Story" totally ruined that song for me. Lol. But also she should work with a few younger producers for an updated sound and balance it out with the old school ones like Jermaine, The Dream, Rodney Jenkins etc.

I think it is long overdue. I have been asking for a collaboration since Mary J. Blige's Thick of It came out 2 years ago. I would be happy if DJ Camper handled the production too. I just tweeted MC, JD, and Jazmine Sullivan about doing a collaboration.

I'd actually kill for Mariah to work in some form with Jazmine Sullivan. Her vocals and writing skills are phenomenal.

I tweeted Dave Hall one time asking if he would ever work with Mariah again and he replied that he would love to. So I guess the ball is in MC's court.

Speaking of which, whatever happened to Dave Hall? He and Mariah made some major chart-topping jams together.

Never Forget You. "I should have said I loved you, why didn't I just tell you?" Words that have stuck with me since my dear sister-in-law passed away in 2001.

Walter will never be apart of MC's creative process again during the creation of Butterfly they had a fallen out and during the divorce from Tommy MC felt he sided with Tommy, because initially Tommy wanted a Daydream sequel for the Butterfly album and MC wanted to go in a more hip hop and R&B direction. I understand that Walter wanted to please his boss but as a collaborator he should have been neutral in my opinion.

Butterfly, for me. It was a theme song back then when I need to say bye bye to someone I loved. We separated because that the best for both of us. I got to let him go. I don't want to keep him under glass. Sad sad story. Now I need to listen to Through The Rain, another "that's about me" song.

On MIAM JD produced "Make it look good", "You don’t know what to do supernatural". "You’re mine (eternal)" was solely produced by DarkChild, also "Slipping away" was produced by Dave Jam Hall who also produced Dreamlover, and Fantasy respectively.

Haha yes that's the part I mean. You know I always thought she sang "take me up, woooooooooooooooo, come on babe" and not "take me down". How weird.

Re: "That's about me" song (82,779) (82,790) by Bobby A from United States
I can so clearly relate to Outside. I always felt like an outsider in my family. I just didn't know where I fitted in with family. Both of my parents rejected me because I wasn't planned. They gave all of their love to my younger sisters while subjecting me to negativity with harsh words and treatment. Music was my saving grace growing up. I guess that's why I connected to Mariah when she first came out. MC's music has always been my therapy.
