Re: Billboard Hot R&B Songs (84,473) (84,508)

And it is no where to be found on the chart dated October 6. If With You doesn't chart on the Hot 100, Hot AC, and Adult AC, MC15 is DOA. It looks like deja vu all over again with these single releases. None of them seem to catch on with radio and buying public. It's almost like a conspiracy to keep MC from gerting her 19th number one.

I'm not so sure that Nick is over Mariah. I don't think he will ever be. I mean yeah he has said many times it's over and he will never go back but maybe that's because he knows Mariah would never take him back. Sure, there is plenty he could say but I'm sure there is plenty Mariah can say too. Nick just looks like a sad little puppy dog since he and Mariah broke up. I truly hope he finds happiness.

Hello Licia, yes this is the James Poyser I had on my mind. It's not like I want her to make pop and no Rnb. In my youth I only listened to Rnb and some Hip-Hop too. It was the great 90ies Rnb which I still love. But most of the Rnb today feels heart- and soulless to me. Rihanna for example is not a pleasure to listen to, but I love Whitney and Toni Braxton. It's hard to describe, maybe you know what I mean. And I'm getting older too. I love all the great soul artists. Stevie Wonder, Aretha, Bill Withers, Sam Cooke, all the legends. And some young like John Legend, Leon Bridges, Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys. But the "hot" things on the radio today and charts with EDM and modern Rnb, it all sounds the same to me. It doesn't touch my heart, nor my feet to dance. My fear is that the album will sound like everything on the radio. Of course we don't know now. If I'm wrong, perfect.

Josh Hoge's album is called Everything She Was. It slipped my mind earlier. It's really a great album.

I'd love to hear Mariah in a more mature sound. Maybe the Walter colaboration is out of the picture, but I truly believe that Marc Shaiman would be great for her.

Agreed. Besides, after producing Celine's My Heart Will Go On and winning the Grammy for non-classical producer of the year he's faded into obscurity and only makes headlines when discussing his past work with Mariah or when he attempts to shade her by saying she makes up words and fails (abandonedly and emblazone). Mariah should have her good friend Santa Claus bring Waler a thesaurus for Christmas.

What happens from her on is going to be really interesting. If MC15 doesn't drop before Thanksgiving, we will know that has been pushed back to 2019. What is the point of releasing an album without a hit single to drive sales? Look at Liam Payne and Zayn. They both failed to get a hit single for their albums. Liam released an EP to hold us over and Zayn stopped releasing singles after the Timbaland single and went back into the studio. She just needs another meeting of minds with Jay Z, Tyran Smith and Jay Brown if no album in 2018. I can wait until 2019 at this point if means she really collaborates with other people who can really give her a hot song and a new sound for the charts. Try Mike Will Made it again or T-Minus or Babyface. I would love for her to work with traditional country songwriters like Ashley Gorley and Josh Hoge. Both of them could help Mariah create a new sound that would make the masses notice. Josh Hoge released a solo album that was really a good album full of R&B and Pop influences but the masses never bought it. Check him out on YouTube with his song 360 and others. His voice is so full of textures that it would make you say - Who is that singing? I checked out his mother at Walgreens in Nashille. She was so proud of her sons Josh and Will. Will is also a singer in Nashville.
The point is she better have other great songs on MC15 or go back into studio until she gets it right. Let's see what happens after the AMAs. But I really now that no album until Spring 2019.

You sound patently uneducated. You obviously don't know how magazine companies work. How you can mold interviews and how you have a say on what can be released. Pretty amazing how out of that hour long interview, Mariah's section is the only one that's sensationalized, magically. Specifically about the start of the romance, which supposedly is irrelevant now because they're "divorced". But "somehow" he was asked about it. Again "molding" the interview. Lmao. It totally flew over your head. Nick knows about the subconscious, and you don't lol. Learn how to read before you come for me. Darling.

I was thinking, if Bryan is the source material for the song and he's been "lovin (you) since that Bone Thugs song", then he fell in love with Mariah when he was 14.

I'm one of the reasons she's become lazy? Can you and a lot of the other people on this board please grow up? As I said before, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but too many people here think their opinion is the only opinion. Insight needed. I think I'll make the wise move of abandoning this message board. It's become ridiculous.

I can appreciate (84,497)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

I can definitely appreciate that both songs released so far are with current producers but still have MC's touch because at this moment in her career she could be trying to sound like someone else just for the sake of wanting to say relevant and I also love how some of these other writers and producers are praising MC for her pen game. Personally I have to disagree with some of you who feel like she should pass the pen this is apart of who she is as an artist, even Tommy Mottola himself said that it was Mariah who made him appreciate the importance of writing and how great of a writer she is. I say that to say this, I understand that we all expect different things when it comes to MC but I feel like this album will have some treats for everybody, but time will tell.

Isn't James Poyser a part of the hip/hop and r&b music you don't want her to do? Unless we're talking about two different people.

M should work with Solange (84,495)
by Lexingz from Estonia

You know what? I think MC should look into working, writing, dueting with Solange. She is super talented and their voices and sensibilities should mesh brilliantly. Also, she is one of the most "current" and "cool" female singer/songwriters around right now. And Solange is one of the artists who has great artistic vision and clarity about what she portrays. Just check out her songs like "Cranes" or "Don't touch my hair". I don't want Mariah to work with Beyonce, I prefer Solange because I find her way more interesting artistically and even vocally than Bey (who is powerhouse performer and great singer but whose studio albums I find boring and unlistenable).

You sound paranoid and pressed. Nick has said countless times that he and Mariah are not getting back together. The end. The only people who are worried about Nick wanting to get back with Mariah are fans like you because ya'll want to feel as though he's sitting around eating his heart out when all his actions say otherwise.

If you really listen to his Vlad segments objectively he was honest while being respectful of Mariah, yes he can talk sometimes and be inappropriate, but he is not the bad guy some people make him out to be either.

But we already have Adele now. And Celine Dion. I do agree that going back to "her roots" may be the only reinvention she has left and might pleasantly surprise the charts. Let her have one more hip youth orientated album before she hits 50 though.

Ben Margulies was great. I love all the songs he wrote with Mariah. Timeless quality music. Instead of another hot DJ/rapper or famous hip-hop/rnb producer. James Poyser, Walter A., David Foster and many more are top musicians/producers who could bring back the contemporary sound. And I'm sure they would love to work with Mariah again. Or some unknown professionals or at least not so famous ones who could also bring back a more soulful vibe with real instruments. That would be a big surprise and no trend at all. I think a lot of music lovers would appreciate it, enjoy it and buy it.

All of those outlets are pulling from an hour long retrospective of his life and career, in an episode of Uncensored. They talk about his childhood, career, children, etc. The Mimi segment is one part of it and at the end of it he says that they are good just how they are now. So he's been over it and has said many times that there is no going back. Some of you fans are so insecure about anything he says, lol. Sure there is plenty that he can say, but he's been gracious enough not to.

Nick Cannon’s mind games (84,484)

So AOL, Daily Mail, Entertainment Tonight, People, Page6 are all writing about how Nick "wooed" Mariah. TVone, Splash TV also uploaded an interview of him talking about how everything started for him and MC. Even got Da Brat to talk about it on Dish Nation. Lmao we see what you're doing Nick. Too bad Mariah don't read, watch and is too in love with Tanaka. We can sense how hard you're trying to make Mariah reminisce of your "romance". But it's too late homeboy. She's in love with someone new. She's just one of your "baby mommas" as your word, now. You did your ex wife too dirty. She's looking the best she's ever looked and is in such a great place. Unbothered, successful and still sexy as hell. Eat your heart out darling.
