Same song, different notes (84,314) by Andrew from UK I stand by what I said from the snippets. As an album track I would say it may be "reasonably good" depending on where it is placed and in what context. As a single, especially a lead single, it's shite. It is now four years since Mariah released MIAM and, if this is the best she could come up with, I am worried for the album. This song is just another same old, same old Mariah track: layered vocals, restricted melody, soft whisper, references to alcohol and stories of people she knows. It is, basically, a bit dull and uninspired. I was expecting something along the lines of YDKWTD. Where has the musical confidence gone? I would even have taken "aggressive" over this. I'm telling you, if this album is another walk through musical obscurity the sycophants here will not need to beg the "naysayers" to give up - many lambs will just give up on Mariah anyway. Sigh. I can not fathom why, after all this time, she has written the same song she always does, albeit with different notes. (Thursday 4 October 2018; 17:07)

I thought after a long time away from recording new music she would have come back inspired to change her sound and work with new producers - With You is a massive fail. I am not excited for this album. This may be my last time I follow her. The realization I've accepted now is that the Mariah I loved in my youth is gone. A different artist that is now gone. Not just the tone of her voice and her ability to belt but the quality of her music and passion that supported it. She has peaked many years ago. What is even sadder is to watch her "sing" her catalog time and time again in Vegas collecting a fat check, while not having her heart in it. The deception is what kills me the most. Every Christmas she milk AIWFC for the millions she's earned and tours all over the world pretending to "sing". She should not charge full price tickets to watch her lip sync when she can't sing anymore. Either sing in real time with your current limited voice or not at all. It's disingenuous take advantage of the same people who supported you when you put out a quality product and use the same people to fund your extravagant lifestyle and you are giving them a hologram. It's difficult to watch someone you loved and admired become someone you do not recognize. She is most concerned about her money and image than she is about her voice or music. Initial impression - With You (84,309) by Lainsky from Philippines As I listened to it for the first time, the first song the came into my mind was "For The Record". It has the same vibe and sound. Then after listening to it after several times, I realized this is no different from "We Belong Together" or "Don't Forget About Us" and also the weaker "Angel's Cry" and "You're Mine (Eternal)". This song falls somewhere in between these two groups of her previous ballads. WBT and DFAU of course were the strong and intense singles while AC and YME were have to be album cuts made for die hard lambs. So, this could be a hit or not a hit in terms of charts and airplay. But who knows, radio DJs now could be no longer Mariah haters and they could possibly love playing this song. It could also has an appeal to younger music enthusiasts and possibly gain new fans for Mariah. But for not so young fans like me, I do not hate it, I do not love it. I simply like it like GTFO and not digging it a lot. Don't get me wrong please, WY could be a hit. It leans toward WBT vibe but not as strong so, let's see. Being personal in songs (84,308) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City) First things first I hope that everyone is doing well. I personally do not mind Mariah sharing real life experiences in her songs. With you is definitely that, and I actually love that she is being more open so we don't have to play who is this specific song or certain lyric is about. Some people say she leaves songs too open and they would like if she got more personal. Also I don't mind if she references song titles or other song lyrics either. Uhm (84,307) by 90sMariah from SG Mariah sure is all about the expletives in this era, isn't she? I heard the song just now and it's, uhm... meh. It sounded monotonous, repetitive, bland and uninspiring. Her impressive vocal runs that made her famous are gone and it got replaced by those vocal squeaks when she attempts to belt. I also wanted to move on so many times, I can't listen to her live videos anymore, sincerely I want to cry sometimes when I see her struggle because her runs aren't there, her belting is limited and I sweat when she has to do a head note and squint my eyes thinking "here it comes", all she can do is that whistle register that doesn't do much for me unless It's a song like Bliss or HateU. I still want to go see her Christmas concert because is classic. But her music seems stagnant, I did like MIAM and think is a good body of work but is not an album that I bothered listening full more than 3 times, I only listened to a selected amount of tracks and now at days I haven't listened to it in a long time, I feel that Memoirs had more memorable songs. GTFO was a promise for change, something a bit out of her mold but not far away. With You is beautiful but bland, all of us who follow her since day 1 know that this song in the past could have been a nice filler. Not vocally interesting like My All, not powerful like Without You, not lyrically meaningful like Anytime You Need A Friend, even tracks that weren't big had something in it that made them so special, like Reflections or Outside. I was hoping we would get freshness, new sound, new Mariah as a whole. I love her voice and she continues to write good material but With You, in all It's niceness feels more of the same. I won't move on yet until I listen to the whole album. GTFO opened the door to more for me. But I'll admit it out loud, I had not bought her music in a long time, not too worry as she doesn't need my stinky miserable dollar haha, she should invest in videos if she wants me to pay, I'll pay her for videos. If I'm still here is only because she has done a lot for me in the past with her music and I feel I owe her, so I stick around even in the lows. It doesn't mean I won't speak my mind if it's negative. With You (84,302) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I really liked the song. It's the first Mariah song since YME that I liked on first listen. All the others she released in between, I had to kind of put them on repeat for me to get into them, but I was hooked from the start. It probably won't be a hit, but that's okay, I want her to nevertheless promote it properly because all her last few efforts, I feel like only the lambs knew about it. Like a few people have said I don't think the song is single worthy, but I want it to do well. The one thing I don't like is it seems as though it just cuts off abruptly at the end. I can't relate to some of the lyrics she has been writing since The Emancipation, at least in WET we all know the Nutcracker-like talk of Barbara Walter and such, a big example of the bubble is Betcha Gonna Know where she mentions all this people I care zero about and all this brand name products that most can't afford, It's all Mariah's World. I loved that song and could have sang to the top of my lungs if she suddenly didn't mention her circle of temporal friends. I don't mind the netspeak and street talk, I think it's ok. A well written, well produced, beautifully sung ballad about true love - classic Mariah Carey. Nick was talking about the bubble she lives in - this is the bubble in which she assumes when she references the "Bone Thugs" song that every human on the planet knows she means Breakdown. It's the bubble in which she believes the "whole damn nation" knows that she was engaged to James Packer and is now with Bryan. She always says she doesn't listen to "pop music" so it's within this bubble that she believes this is a radio friendly jam. I'll save it on my Spotify and give it some love, but... sigh. I'm with you Mimi (84,294) by May from Denmark I really enjoyed the song. Lead single material? No. It seems like a leftover from MIAM though it is very Charmbracelet sounding. I do recall that right after MIAM she was working on some music and she announced a couple of times, when Stella was still in the picture, that she was working on an album. Considering the direction GTFO seemed to point to, I find it strange she would come with this new single as the main opener for her upcoming album. Maybe she was trying to give the fans what they always ask for, more mushy emotional music. I think With You is a beautiful song, there is a catchy thing about, it's not monotonous or boring, it's solid and quality material but not fresh enough, I like the lyrics. Anyone else having problems understanding some of the things she is singing lately? I had this same problem with GTFO and previous singles, it's like she is pronouncing some stuff like between her teeth or in a weird way, also a bit more nasal, it's like she is dragging some of the words. Can't explain. I had to listen to With You a couple of times before getting the whole lyrics and yet there are words I'm still like "huh?" I'm thinking that the reality is that she wanted GTFO to be the main single but it didn't receive the expected attention. It was good enough. But her YT had in days up to 4 million views while Gaga first day had 10 million. And both videos were equally boring to me though but Gaga's video had a story going on. Mariah misses opportunities, we all want another WBT video for love songs. Hopefully With You won't dissapoint. But I don't expect much. The photoshoots are gorgeous, love them, very glamorous. (84,293) by Lee from UK Melodically and vocally I love this song. It suits Mariah's current voice and shouldn't be too taxing to sing live without lip syncing. It sounds like I Stay in Love and Love Story in parts. As much I like Brian Tenaka, I think the lyrical content could have been less specific to him. With You reaction (84,290) by Liz Archer from Sweden Ok, this is my initial opinion. After a few listen I have to say I'm disappointed and underwhelmed. It's ok song but it's not something I would listen to many times. Also I don't love that whispery voice, idk why. The text is also not that great in my opinion. Compared to "Its like that" and "We belong together" (i.e. her recent songs) it's such an disappointment. Those were good singles. I don't know why they start with a "weak" song.
