Re: She should've paid attention to us (83,577) (83,584)
by Randy from USA

But what's ironic in this moment Edward is how nasty everyone became when I argued about the voice changes and deterioration 19 years ago. I never wanted to be right. I wanted an explanation. I was a fan to the highest degree but I was a realist. I knew what I heard and I knew that the constant talking about being a songwriter, a beauty school dropout, ensembles, lighting, Jack her dog has a website, being in the studio, was a cover for the fact that she couldn't sing anymore. And not being able to sing didn't mean sounding like her old self. We're talking about not sounding good live. The funny thing is that so many people on here think Andrew, I and others get a kick out of being right. I don't. No pun intended. I always wanted MC to win. At her height as a singer/songwriter, there will never be anyone who could match those two abilities at the same time. I want her to win but she won't listen to us. That's evidenced by Stella. But for real for real, address the vocal decline publically, write and sing songs on your new album you can sing live without issue and lose the diva image. I swear she will catch the public with the new Mariah moreso than with the iconic legend diva personified. Because the general public loves authenticity, the new Mariah will have been who she was all along. But as fans we will keep that our little secret.

Queen of shade (83,583)

Was truly Aretha Franklin. This article from Vulture highlights her most iconic moments. I love the Liz Smith story and her Mariah moment is more cute and funny than shade. Of course we know Aretha covered Touch My Body in her concerts when the hit was new. She faux coyly shys away from certain lyrics nothingness church roots. Gotta love her self assured attitude and her sense of humor. I wish Mariah would share a warm or humorous story of herself and the queen. Aretha seemed very pleased when Mimi was awarded the BET Honors award in 2012, I believe it was. Time flies and surely changes things.

He has a great YouTube interview video about how he got his start as a songwriter. His mentor was RedOne (Lady Gaga). They wrote Usher's More together. His songwriting style is very aggressive and hard hitting including his own solo work. He sort of reminds me of Jermaine Stewart and his flamboyant personality. He fits the profile in how MC chooses collaborators. He is young, fresh, unique and a catchy songwriter. Reminds you of JD, right. I guess Rihanna's Needed You made her want to collaborate with him. Check out his song Bitty. Hilarious song title but catchy lyrics and melody. He dances really good in the video. If you want to hear him sing a ballad he wrote, check out Mary J. Blige's Smile. He can really sing. We may just get another Butterfly album really soon.

Spot on. Tommy's controlling ways weren't exclusive to her dress. He also set rules, whatever you want to call it to keep her voice in top form. Once she left the marriage all of a sudden her voice takes a hit.

Why should Stella be mad when that was revealed four years ago? If nobody dwelt on Morgan's tabloid revelations it was not because no one wanted to believe him. That diagnosis is for Mimi to discuss, if it's to be discussed anyway. Stella is mostly hot air anyway. This is all some dumb plan, ill conceived and destined to flop like her other attempts to use Mimi.

Anything that is said about Mariah from Stella is basically considered nonsense. I don’t really think any non-lambs care about Mariah and a yo-yo diet, her love life or if she has abused alcohol or prescription pills. It is gossip, drama and word of mouth. Most of the world has other issues to deal with and has already seen Mariah at her worst. Lol and to top the whole thing off Stella is a no name nobody, honestly I wouldn’t be worried.

She should've paid attention to us (83,577)
by Edward from USA

It's so sad that Mariah couldn't see the type of person she was surrounding herself with. The thing is that on a deposition, which would become public record when attached as an exhibit on any court proceeding, Stella will be airing Mariah's dirty laundry. We already knew about the alcohol issue, and even though we didn't want to believe Morgan, about her being bipolar. The weed was kind of evident, but the prescription medication situation really scares the crap out of me. Stella is mad because Mariah revealed her being bipolar before she could use it as a weapon to push her to settle, but she's still coming for her throat. As much as I hate Caricaturella, I think all this mess and lawsuit has worked in Mariah's favor by pushing her to stay on track with treatment not only for her mental disorder, but also for alcohol abuse and prescription medications. I would die if she were to end up like Michael Jackson. The proof was always in the pudding, but many "real" fans refused to see it. It's obvious now that the deterioration of her voice isn't directly proportional to her polyps and nodules, but the lifestyle she chose post Tommy. When Mariah turned into a free beautiful butterfly, she must've have soaked her wings in alcohol before she prepared to fly. What happened to Mariah's voice? Well, I guess we all know for sure by now. Three people who don't know one another, and who have been closed to her, have stated the same thing, not matter the context, there must be some truth to it.

Stella is a true nightmare/black widow. That she was "connected" with Mariah, still unbelievable. Even if I would be drunk as hell, I would run away from this witch. Lol. Seriously I hope that this chapter get closed for all time.

Stella is the ultimate black widow. A psychopath without limits or remorse. But she can create bad press that will affect Mariah's future endeavours and Stella knows it.

Stellazilla must be broke now. She really has nerve to openly blackmail Mariah. She really was a dark time in Mariah's life professionally and personally. She is like an itch that won't go away. I know MC should stay quiet but I hope she has shade track on the new album about Stella.

Make It Happen also didn't give any credit for sampling "I Want To Thank You" by Alicia Myers either. Make It Happen uses the exact same backing track, only in a different key.

I had no idea that "I've been thinking about you" samples Melvin Bliss' "Synthetic Substitution" and Slave's "Just a Touch of Love". Weird that it is not indicated in the credits. I think the same thing happened with the sample used for the "Make It Happen" club remix in the single's credits.

Aggressive may also be describing a lot of the other aspects like lyrics, vocals, the use of profanity, she may spit a rhyme or two "f**k the Grammies you know they foiled me in '96" (haha) don't be surprised, Look no further than the song "Prisoner" from her debut, she's done it before - the rapping part that is. I feel like Mariah is going to be "unapologetic" in this era in the sense of owning her legendary status and not being coy or watering it down to seem humble as she's done in the past and she's gonna be her own mouth piece.

Agreed it is a brilliant song. I'm impressed the article picked up it was sung in the "legato" style. This is singing hushed and softly but with force and power behind it and is one of the most difficult techniques to perfect. I think MC even said at some point that it was the hardest song she ever had to sing. I'm glad AYNAF came out as top though. That is my fave from the album too. I went nuts when the completed, non-fade out version surfaced and we had all those beautiful extra vocals towards the end. Then of course there's the mellow Soul Convention Remix and the astounding C&C Club Mix that is up there with Dreamlover Morales Mix, I Still Believe/Pure Imagination and Fantasy ODB as one of her finest ever remixes. That scatting at the end she does makes me feel so good in (high note) siiiiiiide.

I totally agree. I feel that MC15 is going to be Music Box and Butterfly rolled up into one. I sure hope MC worked with Jazmine Sullivan on a couple of songs for MC15. I am predicting the first single in a couple of weeks right before iHeart.

To me the best song on Music Box the album is the song Music Box. Mariah's vocals are so powerful and sometimes subdued when appropriate. What an outstanding vocal track. I swear when I hear that song it takes me to whole other place. Mariah makes you feel that sh$t. I can literally take every word of that song and tell my husband this is exactly how I feel about you. Mariah girl you need to give Music Box the single some love.

Hmm, you think Daydream is R&B? Not me. Yeah it's got some R&B influence but its not a straight up R&B album. TEOM and MOAIA are what I consider to be R&B albums but at the end of the day it's all about what someone's perception of R&B music truly is. Me personally I would love to see Mariah return to a Music Box type of vibe that is contemporary, fresh, and inspiring.

Billboard thinks Daydream continued in the same vein as Music Box, and that Mariah returned to R&B with Butterfly. I'm sorry Billboard, but are we listening to the same Daydream album? Daydream is R&B at its finest.
