janet. turns 25 (82,463) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
One of the most impressive strings of albums in pop ever is Janet Jackson's Control - Rhythm Nation 1814 - janet. - The Velvet Rope in terms of quality, creativity and chart success (heck, I'd even include All For You and Damita Jo up there but that's just me). From a declaration of female independence to social awareness to celebration of the female sexuality to mature introspection - Janet's laid down the blueprint that would be emulated by almost every black female singer out there today. janet. remains her most eclectic collection of songs to date. The genre-hopping masterpiece where there are more interludes than actual songs still sounds relevant today. Nothing will ever touch the slinky bassline of That's The Way Love Goes, the sheer creativity of If, and the sensual slow burn of Any Time, Any Place. And those are just 3 of the 9 singles. I personally love those that didn't get released as well, such as The Body That Loves You and Where Are You Now. Such a great album. It's no wonder that it's her bestselling one. Happy 25, janet.

Re: JLo (82,458) (82,462) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Point taken. Sure, not all of J. Lo's endeavors post 2000 have prospered, but what I wanted to point out in my last post was that regardless of how J. Lo's ventures perform commercially, she and her team has done better at making her efforts count towards maintaining an image that's likable. Granted, Mariah has had some projects that have worked to her favor, but those are all overshadowed by those that did not - American Idol, Mariah's World, Infinity, I Don't. Both are moguls at this point, but J. Lo's stamp and brand has been more visible. Not to mention to a shade-sniffing public, Mariah just seems to give them what they want for them to twist and blow up, portraying Mariah as an insecure, catty bitch and therefore lessening her likability. Sure, visibility and likeability does not automatically translate to commercial/critical success, but in the age of social media, the more you're seen in a good light, the better your chances of being recognized and followed by the newer generation, and for aging 90s divas, that's vital. The entertainment industry relies so much on perception that very little attention ever gets paid to the actual talent and effort. That's where Mariah loses. On a brighter note, losing Stella was a huge step in the right direction, but Mariah still needs to get out of her comfort zone and high horse and put in the extra work.

I suspect some of these accounts encouraging MC to "bare it all" are the same person. [Webmaster: That's correct, they are all the same person.]

I didn't even bother to read what you had to say. I just know that you need to fade away already.

Dear Elizabeth. In order to prove the righteousness of your [censored] stupid point, please post pictures of you naked with special emphasis on your tits and vagina whilst holding up a sign saying "mcarchives.com". I assume you won't do this, so, let me me break it down for you: you're a bellend.

JLo (82,458) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Some might say she is more likable and she may have been more favorable, but post 2008 she has struggled in the form of popularity. Among other things her last album sold less than MIAM, her movies are not doing big numbers either, it’s just her team keeps her in front of the masses and her team has been well equipped, whereas MC had friends who could not handle the job and the last team was just the pits. Besides her singles with Pitbull everything else post 2008 was a commercial failure. If we are going to call a spade let’s do it on both sides, both ladies have been going through their share of challenges in their careers throughout the years.

I can't believe that anyone could be against her posing naked. People who don't want her to are either jealous because no one wants to see them naked or they are stuck in some old time Puritanical trap. Mariah has always been confident in her sexy image and I think this is going to be a huge boost to her already fantastic career.

Re: Mariah late to the party? (82,440) (82,456) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
J.Lo is probably the biggest plagiarist of all time, but I do like many her stuff as well, from the debut album to Brave. I even like a few songs on Love?. She has zero originality, but I applaud her for being the first true Latina all-rounder superstar whose charisma and popularity still baffles me to this day. She's got mad focus and has been working non-stop just like Mariah has, except that J.Lo seems to have held it better together especially post 2008. To the average person, she's still more likable than Mariah since then, too.

I don't think Twister is an interlude either. It is structured as a song. Short, but still a song. I even have my reservations about calling Languishing an interlude. Other than its transitional melody, it still sounds like a full song to me.

Dinero (82,452) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
That song is garbage just as everything JLo has released lately and honestly DJ Khaled is overrated all of his latest songs sucks. His best song in recent memory is Wild Thoughts. To be quite honest Khaled is the worst producer of the current music climate he is just all over the place because of his ties to Roc Nation and relationships with different artists other than that he would be another struggling artist/producer trying to get that big break. On another note if Dinero is MC being late to the party I would rather her not show up.

Why do ya'll think MC is releasing an album? (82,450) by Randy from USA
This board is hilarious. If MC was releasing an album this summer, the single would have been released already. If she was releasing an album this fall, she wouldn't be signing to be in Vegas or hop-scotching all around Southeast Asia. And why does anyone think MC is going to bare all? She's an icon. Even if she has fallen to the gutter, which she hasn't, she knows she will never escape nude pics or their notoriety. She also knows her kids will have to deal with an unprescedented amount of teasing or bullying during adolescence. She will probably be nude with strategically place nipple and vaginal coverings.

Mariah has never been ashamed of being hot. Why should she start being ashamed of her gorgeous body now. You go Mariah. Please do bare all finally. I personally will buy 10 copies.

I think it's a great idea. Mariah should show the world that even at 47, she is still one of the most beautiful women in the world. Mariah, your true fans are very excited about this and say "it's about time".

Re: First impressions of TEOM (82,447) by Dove from United States
I was 21 when TEOM came out. The first thing that comes to my mind is this story: I went to stay with my parents that summer of 2005. I used to bump that album super loud because my parents live in the country so nobody would call the police on us for playing the music too loud. Well I came out of what used to be my bedroom one day and my younger sister said, "You think you're hot sh*t huh? Especially when you listen to that song about the doors that lift up from the floor."

I love TTF, will always override Migrate. I recall uni days when I conveted many Mariah haters because of that track. Incredibly sexy in my opinion, even though majority dislike the track, oh well, it is what it is.

What kinda ears do you have? TTF is the weakest song of Pharrell's career, a sorry excuse for a song and a total waste of space that should have been given to "When I Feel It". Heck even "Secret Love" and " Sprung" are much stronger tracks than that senseless incomplete mess of a demo that should have been left at that. Everything about it sounds all over the place, thrown together and incomplete. I would describe it as a wrinkle on a perfectly ironed shirt and that high note run at the end didn't fool us lambs. Imagine if it had been released as first single. Disaster.

With "It's like that" I was a bit surprised, but it grew on me and finally I loved it as the opening song. After listening to "We belong together" I thought this is a typical magic Mariah song. I had it on repeat over and over. And I knew this would be another number one. Other favorites by the first time: Mine again, Stay the night, Get your number, Circles and definitely Joy Ride. I read a lot of fans don't like TTF, I liked the Neptunes and Nelly at that time, so that collabo seemed cool to me. I still enjoy it.

This article is hilarious. Mariah is going to bear all? What's with the future tense? The only part of Mariah Carey the public hasn't seen is her vagina.

I don't consider Twister an interlude. For me, it needs to be stated as such on the record.

Dinero is a no for me. I did like Cardi's part though. I thought I was going to get an If You Had My Love or I'm Real, but I ended up with a song worst than Booty. I actually like J. Lol. If that's the type of music that's being released then Mariah can be at late as she wants.

Re: First impressions of TEOM (82,397) (82,439) by B from USA
When I bought the album I was nervously optimistic. The reviews of Charmbracelet said Mariah's voice was in tatters weighed heavily on my mind. Was Mariah's voice really shot? After listening to TEOM I was relieved that Mariah was singing in her full voice again instead of cooing and whispering. Disclaimer, I've always thought Mariah singing in her highly debated whisper register was a stylistic choice and not an attempt to mask her vocal decline.
