Ah ye olde running through the apartment videos. Amongst the most awkward of her products I've witnessed. Up there with the R18+ (that's NC-17 to you Americans) Christmas videos she did in 2016.

I think Mariah's mental health has been deteriorating for a long time. Take her frolicking on the beach with Tanaka, wearing that ring, the I Don't soft core porn, the flashing in her dressing gown, the Honey frozen performance, the bizarre film of her running and ranting through her apartment, and so on and so on. It is clear that she lost the plot quite some time ago. Calling her misunderstood is one eay of dealing with it but it doesn't really address what most people I think are thinking: she is completely detached from reality (to put it mildly). Anyway, a shout out to your Old Vic Anglo-reference and use of the word "bloody" haha. Bloody brilliant, mate.

Well I'd have 3 different actresses play Mariah. 1990-1997 Mariah would be Anne Hathaway. She then all of a sudden transforms into Jennifer Hudson in 1997. Then, something happens in 2010, and she transforms into Jennifer Coolidge. Tommy Motolla could be played by Harvey Weinstein. In the role of Nick Cannon would be the guy that played Steve Urkel in Family Matters. James Packer would have to be a semi animation, and the perfect casting would be Shrek. Stella could be Lindsay Lohan in a skanky black wig.

Golden Cannon and Roc & Roe (81,179)

The pics and little video of the kids at Golden's birthday party are the cutest. He's like a darker version of Roc. I'm so happy that Roc & Roe will have a relationship with their sibling. Nothing like finding out you have a sibling years later because your parents couldn't act right. I'll always respect them both when it comes the children. Anyway, here are the pics if anyone is interested.

Let's say you had the power to create the Mariah biopic, who would you cast to play her and all the other people in her life (family, friends, lovers and associated acts)?

Honestly Andrew, I am not convinced that Mariah fancies herself that much. Above all she is very insecure hence the need to hide behind an over-the-top version of "the diva", extensively airbrushed images and overtly sexy attire. I think she is still looking for acceptance and has choosen the wrong path in doing so. I can only imagine how lonely and isolated her life really is. I completely agree with you that she has become an exaggerated cardboard cut-out of her previous self but I really feel for anybody who goes through life unable to accept their flaws and understand their worth. Aren't we the lucky ones after all ?

Hah. O William. I admit that Mariah's lyrics have become more vapid as her sound has become equally as vapid. But I am not sure Madonna can be beaten on the shit lyrics stake. Listen to Die Another Day, and you'll wish for that day to arrive pretty quickly. However, I remember TEOM was out the same time as Confessions on a Dancefloor. And thinking Mariah could have done Confessions. It would have been a bold move to start doing something else. But alas, if she had we would never have had Triumphant, Infinity, I Don't, and other priceless gems.

The tea I heard was that he was inviting young female fans to his hotel room in exchange for backstage passes. If true, with the whole #Metoo movement, I think this is smart for MC dropping him. Mimi's name being mixed in with this dirt would be a PR nightmare. With that being said, I am completely devastated that we may never get another FLAB, Circles, I Wish You Well or Cry.

Buddy, I understand your point but you could also appreciate that if Mariah did not carry herself the way she did, people would not be so eager to tear her down. The public turned away from somebody who themselves turned to extreme vanity, somebody for whom global attention for their talent is not enough unless her tits were also being looked at, somebody who essentially turned herself into a characature. Of course the public like to tear her down moreso than other artists for she made herself into the butt of a joke. If you saw somebody in the street who clearly loved themselves, acted aloof and thought themselves special, you'd piss yourself laughing if they fell into a puddle of dirty water. Mariah having to heavily rely on lip-sync and dubbing after the way she carried, and still carries herself, is her puddle of dirty water.

I really wonder what the deal is with Big Jim and why exactly he was kicked out of the team (if that's the case). Every now and then he posts on social media some not that enigmatic statements, which I assume refer to the Mariah situation, though even after they "broke up" he still praised her. Hm.

Hello Andrew, I get your point and I do understand and respect it. However I compared television and cinema with the music industry and not the theatre. Every actor who played at the Old Vic or any other stage for that matter will confirm how very different such a performance is compared with acting on a set were one is able to pause, erase and rewind. Mariah is a popstar, and although a rather legendary one who might have set the bar for others, she is part of a system that supports heavily on smoke and mirrors. What irritates me is that she is always getting the slack for miming or dubbing performances when every other big name in the business does it just as well.

Both of Celine's album (Falling Into You and Let's Talk About Love) seem tailor made to guarantee dominance of Adult Contemporary radio. Yes, she gives impassioned chest thumping vocal performances but her albums have always seemed to lack soul to me.

I will come to Atlanta just to correct your list of best 90's albums. Ray of Light is superior to all other 90's female artists records in terms of concept and execution. Plus it's not half as depressing as some of the other ones. It even escapes Madonna's oft excruciating lyrics. For shits and giggles, some examples: "We can drink some wine, burgundy is fine, let's drink the bottle every drop" and the ever impressive "I drive my Mini Cooper and I'm feelin' super duper, you can tell me I'm a trooper." For lyrical artistry Mariah doesn't really have competition. However, there's something to be said for Madonna's ability to turn a phrase.

Your argument is almost completely baseless. To justify one wrong by pointing out another wrong happening in some other realm is quite silly. Dubbing is lip syncing in reverse - you are not moving your mouth to the words, you are moving the words to your mouth. It is, inarguably, a lie. Were I to go to the theatre tonight to see a play, I could expect live acting with live words coming out of the players' mouths. I would have experienced genuine artistry and talent designed to move me in some way. You ought to be able to expect that from a musical performance. Equally when you purchase a recording of said performance, you really ought to be able to expect that what was performed is exactly what you purchased. I know that things are not this way, and so be it. But, Lordy me, don't justify it as being okay. It is a lie. Just an industry wide one. When I first realised that Mariah has dubbed performances I was pretty thrown, rather heartbroken. And, again, so be it. But let us be honest about the untruths here. For example, putting a "live" performance on MCIIY which is not actually a live performance is offends anyone with an intellect. The problem with Mariah's career in the face of internet downloading and the boom of social media is that she is being examined intensely. And, frankly, being caught out. A lot.

I have to listen to Django Jane. I only know some songs from her debut and was surprised of the sound, very unique, almost like music for the cinema. It's true the current music scene seems dead. I bought three "best of" cd's because of the boring charts. (Whitney, Tina Turner and Janis Joplin.) I know it's a weird combination, but they are all great. I'm not into Rock music, but I like "Maybe" from Janis, more blues-like. So please Mariah, give us new music.

Smoke and mirrors (81,159)
by Tijl from Belgium

The debate regarding dubbed or edited performances is in full swing, once again. Have you ever considered to which degree the performances of actors are manipulated into perfection with the help of a lot a rehearsels, several takes and hours of processing in the cutting room? However, nobody ever doubted the talent of Meryl Streep or Cate Blanchett nor questioned the manner in which these final perfect performances came into fruition. We'll even applaud them for receiving an Academy Award. Everything is relative and every performance by an artist can be dissected into bleakness. Let us acknowledge the genuine talent and artistry of all these amazing people that maintain relevant and respected for decades in a business that is bloody demanding.
