Mariah crying while singing (76,665)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
So I'm not completely sure about the details but I'm hearing several rumors about Mariah crying either during the F1 concert or after and it has been all over instagram. Lambs have been saying that their comments of support and comments talking about how she was crying are being actively deleted by her team, which is Stella and Mishka. Again, disclaimer. I'm not sure about this so I can't provide receipts. RibbonB did you hear anything?

Mariah is nothing with a good team. Yes, Mariah has the talent but talent isn't enough. She knows nothing about the business, no taste and doesn't know anything about quality and how to present herself. In her career she had 2 important people, Tommy and Benny. Compare the years with and without them. No discipline and no respect for the people who come to see her live. I saw a sad, mopey, no energy in a clown costume singing very bad and the audience was not feeling her. Her reputation is destroyed and she has done it all by herself. Hiring a clown manager who knows nothing about the business and is only interested in making money and getting famous. If she thinks Stella gives a rat ass about her she in for a big shock. And a guest on someone else tour? How low can you go? If Austria and Baku is what people are getting she'll get booed of stage by Lionel Richie's fans. Good riddance. I said it before Mariah's attitude towards artists is very bad. Yesterday, she took a shot at Taylor Swift's Shake It Off. Saying mine was first in her big ego voice. Christina Aguilera and Eminem Beautiful was first too. Beyonce and Justin Bieber had the same title Sorry in the same year. Grow the hell up, big baby.

Stella's empowering talk on Instagram is just to make herself feel better about her bad parenting. She wants to be the next Kris Jenner and her daughters. Not going to happen though.

Yes, I would assume so. I mean why in all pictures in recent months is every pose with a jacket being held that way, or an object or person conveniently hiding that region. Perhaps she doesn't want body shamers, if it is not pregnancy. It's like when they film a part in a movie or tv show where the character isn't supposed to be pregnant they do the very same thing. I guess empowering your girls at 13-14 brings this? For her and the potential child's sake, I hope not.

I've said it before and I will say it again: this person is the best person to interpret all of Mariah's songs. Others try, but they can't touch this lamb's dedication and natural singing prowess. Lamb is sounding more and more like Mariah as time passes. I it.

The difference is that back in 1997 Mariah morphed from her "Little Goody Two-Shoes" image into a sexy, never trashy, and talented sexy butterfly. She changed her looks, but her music was still strong and spoke to people. She alienated some fans, but gained others. What really kept her afloat was her music because the woman poured her soul into it, vocally and lyrically. Now, Mariah "ain't no" spring chicken anymore. Her looks are mostly awful, the music is not priority anymore, her voice is still declining, and no, a 3-year vocal rest won't get it back to where it was, and I'm not expecting that either. This new generation won't keep Mariah, as talented singer/songwriter afloat if Mariah is not delivering a product worth buying/consuming. Mariah's name is being kept afloat, but based on what? Based on obviously scripted reality TV, planting stories, lies, endorsement deals, questionable behavior, and awful performances. I wouldn't mind the diva behavior as long as she could stand in front of a mike and sing for her life at least one song every once in a blue moon, but that's rarely the case. Attitude really matters, Christina attitude killed her career. Adele could be overweight, underweight or whatever, but the woman delivers when she has to, and her attitude? Well, being humble and not believing your own hype works. The woman thinks Mariah should be in the Bible, yet Mariah said she never heard "Hello".

Throwing in the towel (76,659)
by 90sMariah from SG

I think it's time for her to retire herself from major/huge public performance and just record albums for now. The energetic, fun, vocally agile Mariah that I enjoyed watching back in the day is gone. All that's left is a shell of her unrecognisable self. What do you think early 90s Mariah would say if she saw her future self performing as sadly as she does now? I think she'd be broken. If a public performance is unavoidable, I suggest she should do a Celine and pre-record her vocals, practice lip-synching the songs down to the very last phrasing until her lips are believably synced with the tracks. It's the only way. That way she could salvage whatever is left of her voice and heal. It may not be back to 100%, but at least it could be 10x better than what she has been showing lately. I cringed watching her Baku performance. She was constantly straining to reach the notes and her tone is completely effed up. For someone who is a self-confessed perfectionist she sure doesn't show it in her performances. Heal, Mariah, heal.

I have nothing against a metamorphosis. It is natural and everyone is changing now and then but to change so extremely is strange. A "beautiful butterfly" should never turn into something trashy. But I know what you mean. In 97 a lot of fans didn't like the more urban-style Mariah. But I think compared to now it really was "harmless". It was more because of the music not only because of her new sexy looking. Maybe she choose Stella and her daughters to impress some younger people but for what was it really good? A lot of fans are disappointed and as you said don't recognize her anymore. Mariah Carey doesn't need the yellow press like a new teen star. They won't buy music, they won't go to her concerts. They will just watch YouTube, instagram and co. for some free "entertainment". I just wish Mariah would reinvent to someone without the current image. It must be very hard to be a living legend since the millennium but Mariah can do so much better than lately. Maybe it's all fun for her, or a strategy but I don't get it. Anyway I wish her the best, I love MC.

Could we all be part of another metamorphosis? (76,657)
by T from USA

Metamorphosis (noun): a change of the form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one, by natural or supernatural means. I've lately been reading a lot of comments on various boards about how Mariah has changed so much and many are loosing favor with her. Her own fans don't recognize her anymore. I myself have considered if I even like the artist in front of me anymore. Then it hit me. Maybe we are right in the middle of what the fan base went through in 1997. At that time fans were freaking out because Mariah had changed seemingly right before their eyes. She lost so many fans at that time. Sure it is twenty years later but in 2017 she could be consciously doing that again to get a new younger generation. She may have even hired Stella and daughters to help her do it. Which means many of us won't last going forward. Some will stick around, some won't. But like a butterfly that keeps reinventing herself, Mariah will survive and this new youth culture might keep her afloat for another twenty.

Did you watch any of the other performances? There's no way her vocals could have gone from how she sounded in the other performances (which was really rough) to having crystal clear, cd like vocals on this particular song. It was a treat to hear her "perform" the song because it's a favorite, but it wasn't live at all. She even sounded a bit rough on ABMB and she normally is able to kill that song.

If the F1 concert in Baku and other recent performances are anything to go by, Mariah Carey just can't sing anymore. She doesn't just sound bad, she sounds exceedingly strained, clearly suffers to achieve even the lowest of high notes and is, in fact, constantly out tune. Unquestionably dreadful.

I've noticed that on YouTube there are a lot a MC new fans. They're quite young, like 15-20, and there are many. Also it's interesting to me to see that within 12 hours any of Mariah's performances in Baku gathered about 5.000 viewers when Christina Aguilera's vocal technique advice (filmed in a studio) only have managed to be seen by a few hundred of people in 2 months.

I don't really care much about how Mariah dresses, but the woman really needs a reality check, and quick. she should at least be mindful of her weight and dress appropriately. I don't care if she wants to be as big as Gabourey Sidibe, but please dress accordingly. She definitely looks like bootleg Precious in that bodysuit.

Stella does it because Mariah allows it. Mariah is not deaf, she clearly heard the guy. She's given autographs to some fans before when her bodyguards had told them it wasn't going to happen. Remember what Nick said, Mariah manages Mariah. Had Mariah had a problem with it, Stella wouldn't be doing it. As much as I can't stand Stella, Mariah is responsible for it, as simple as that. One day there won't be any more scapegoats to shield Mariah from her responsibility and diva behavior. I'm just wondering when she'll put out some decent music, a real collaboration with a known artist would do her well. She really needs it. I feel sad she didn't utilize Justin Bieber by producing a great track with him in it. The guy seems to have the Midas touch Mariah used to have in her prime.

Now that you mention it, I'm surprised we haven't gotten that type of interview by now. With Mariah holding the Guiness Book of World Records record for "most stories denied by a rep that the general public hadn't even heard of before it was denied", you'd think they want to commemorate the achievement in a really big way.

That was really crappy. The sad part is that it will blown up and said that Mariah refused. She was probably in the Mariah's World bubble and didn't even notice, but I want to believe she would have stopped if she had been told. He sounded really disappointed. He just really wanted to meet her.
