Signature song (75,300) by T from USA Mariah has had so many hits that picking a signature song is almost impossible for her. I wonder what she would consider her signature song? Or at least want everyone to acknowledge as her signature? I think you have to break it down into three categories: 1. Commercial success, 2. Artistic expression, 3. Legacy. It can be argued that either Hero or WBT are her signature song because of their chart success. But at the same time Butterfly is her bold artistic expression that has symbolized her life and career to this day. Then there's always the legacy song's Vision of Love and AIWFCIY that could take the spot as her one signature song. For me it's one of those five songs. Don't ask me to pick. And that's not even talking about Fantasy and ABMB which could have a solid case made for then as well. (Wednesday 17 May 2017; 22:05)

Hero (75,294) by Edouard from France I believe Mariah made it an iconic song by singing it over and over over the years, by rearranging it and by making it truly her own. had not she chosen to do that, the song would have been a number 1 song and that's it. It is what she is known for. It is the song to which everyone at the table knows the words and melody without mistake. It is the song to which everyone will join in. It is a song that people identify with. It's also my karaoke song. Well, that and the Bear Necessities. Which I think Mariah should cover. The ultimate Mariah Carey song poll (75,286) by Edward from USA Well, in terms of depth, lyrics, imagery, delivery, I would have to go with Butterfly. Butterfly is definitely no Vision of Love when it comes to vocal acrobatics, but it is way better when it comes to passion, lyrics, and soul. Butterfly is an epic song with an equally great video. I believe it to be lyrically comparable only to "Close My Eyes", "Petals" and "Outside". Mariah poured her soul into that song and successfully replicated the same sentiment in its accompanying video. There was not tits-touching, no vanity shots, not middle finger given, just pure soul pushed into the universe with an incomparable delivery. Yes, Butterfly even though it was sung in a semi whisper register is extremely difficult to sing, just like My All. Jessica Sanchez from American Idol matched Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" note by note, and she was praised by critics the day after left and right, but when Jennifer Lopez chose "My All" for her to sing, she struggled, had she had a synthetic wig that day, it would've fried on her head. Jennifer even said: "I didn't know it was that difficult/hard." I love me some Daydream, but Mariah really came alive on Butterfly. Oh how I miss those times when Mariah's lyrics were simple, yet poetic and deep. (Tuesday 16 May 2017; 19:07)

Obviously the other two are masterpieces which held great significance in her career, but Butterfly was just her heart poured out into a beautiful melody.
