Rare gem: Mariah - Underneath the Stars (Drifti (71,312)
by B from USA
| |
|
|
It's great to see this song getting some love outside of the Lambily. Mariah's singles also included several remixes. Everytime I hear someone say the only reason TGIFY reached #1 was because Lambs purchased multiple copies I'm shocked. That single reached #1 because of the remix featuring Joe and Nas. That remix is still played on the radio. Yes, the original is forgettable and bland but the remix is fire.

Yeah those were not so great vocal moments. Wish this social media break entailed her taking a vocal break too, but I understand that these were things that were already booked before the hiatus. I'm not going to beat her down too much. I'm just going to hope she sounds better for the Dubai jazz fest in February.

Article: Russian billionaire spends £2.5million hiring Mariah Carey (71,309)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
This was not money well spent. In the videos I've seen, she sounds absolutely terrible. Seriously, if no one knew her back catalogue and that she was once "Mariah Carey" people would think she was that tone-deaf aunt who got up on stage, always thought she could sing and never could. I can understand having an off moment but she didn't even sound like a professional singer on that stage. That looked like a slightly upscale talent show. I just don't get it. Are her vocals irreparably ruined or has she just been putting no effort into cutting out drinking and getting vocal rest? Listening to that wedding performance was tragic and humiliating. I truly don't believe that Mariah loves herself. She might be full of herself, but that doesn't mean that she actually loves herself. When you love yourself, you hold yourself to the standards of excellence and you take care of your God-given gifts. A person who loves themselves would never constantly subject themselves to so many cringeworthy and humiliating vocal disasters and then frolic off into the sunset bullshitting themselves into believing that it's okay. They always say that one of the signs of depression is giving up on self-care. Just because Mariah always steps out in full hair and makeup doesn't mean that she's taking care of herself. Self-care is about a lot more than making sure you look cute. The fact that she even does performances as bad as this wedding performance and can still look herself in the mirror (and probably won't do anything to improve for her next performance) is proof that she's given up. I never thought I'd see the day where Mariah, the "perfectionist" would be so comfortable having a track record of vocal f*** ups.

Now it would be hilarious if Stellar takes lead from "Single White Female" and sneaks into Boynaka's room at the Dorcester, dressed as Mimi and well you know the rest if you've seen the movie. Of course this should all be captured for the MW cameras. Then Stellar can skip the killing him with her high heel shoe part, but they can just wander off into the sunset confessing their true love for each other.

What do you mean? The fact that she's performing at a wedding? I don't think that's necessarily bad, a lot of A-list celebs do that, plus this girl is Antonio Banderas's daughter. Or do you mean she should actually be on rest instead of over working herself? In that case I agree, she really needs to take some time off to rest. Or are you talking about her voice here? Those were definitely some bad vocal moments, especially "My All". I hope she is not ignoring her instrument. Her voice is a gift and she seems to have forgotten how she once talked about losing it because of smoking and how she prayed and prayed to get it back promising she'll give up smoking and then she got it back.

That song is still a favorite from the production to the lyrics and vocals. Another example of Mariah's genius as an artist when she puts her focus and dedication into her craft. I will never doubt this woman's greatness no matter the missteps or scratching my head moments because through her art she has proven herself. Here is to the greatness to come I feel she has something in the works that is going to prove once again why she is one of the best to ever do it.

Social Media break (71,300)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|

I wonder why they still call the paps and sent out calls for fans to meet Mariah at her hotel, if taking a social media break? She does have the capability to be as private as she wants to be, but the call was made and the Daily Mail is there to plant yet another story about M. and her assistants. But I am glad that her SM shut down includes no posts by the 13 year old or 13 year old's momma. If that was Mariah's call to do that, then it was a good one. I hope Mariah changes the passwords. Big wish I know. Lol.

I never thought this day would ever come. Mariah needs to be in bed, on vocal rest, and under a doctor's care, not in the hands of that evil witch who is trying to suck every last drop of blood out of her. This is so very sad.

Yes he has moved on and being hurt, is usually not a draw to go back to what may be causing the hurt, if that was her intention, then poorly done. I do feel they both are hurt in the divorce, that is usually how it goes, but neither did the work together to heal and stay, or heal and move on. Hopefully time sorts it all out, but I hate to see the people she is paying to spend time with her this era and the results of that time don't impress me, it is a very cringe worthy watch.

I think many of her peers care about her and her well being, but they are probably as confused as many of her fans. Mariah seems to have intentionally jumped off into the Kardashian style rabbit hole for the flimsiest/fakest of reasons. Right now, I am just hoping something of value will be revealed by seasons end of this "docu-debacle". I found it interesting that one of M's extended team, who used to work on MDJ made a subtweet saying: people are not helping Mariah by attacking her manager. I hope that is not as ominous as it sounded to me. Hopefully it is cut and dry and not an implication that it is hurting M in some way for people to attack Stellar. I am not one to attack Stella or anyone on twitter or social media, but I will post my feelings here on MCA out of care and concern for Mariah. I do wonder what Mariah really wants from her fans, what she wants not what Stella and the team of circus freaks and thirst bots want.

Some usual suspects (71,293)
by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)

Some of you usual suspects come here every chance you get to spew negativity and hate. How many times, and how many ways can one express the same sentiments she needs to dress more appropriately, I don't like the reality show or her relationships with this and that one, her voice is the not same, she's a diva so on and so forth. Obviously it must be something you still care about because you keep checking a Mariah Carey message board. Believe me something's with MC make me shake my head but if I feel the need to say nothing but negative things about her and everything she does I think it's time for me to me to turn in my fan card and move on. Don't you think it's time some of you usual suspects do the same?

Re: Real or fake? (71,285) (71,291)

That's exactly how I feel for long time. I wonder all the time what was the reason Mariah started to do such a fake tv-format? One thing I always admirered about her beside the best voice on earth and fantastic music, was her style and the way she presented herself in interviews, on stage on tour and so on. Always classy, mysterious and a bit of diva-style but never fake. A real smile with sparkling eyes. Something changed around the TEOM era. But it was never so heavenly since Stella stepped into her life. I think the the latest actions are because of her insecurity and a broken heart. I hope her heartache is soon gone. Mariah you are the best, you don't need yes-people and false friends. Just be true to yourself and take your time to recover. We love you (until the end of time).

Mariah's World (71,290)
by Malcolm from Asia
| |
|
|
James Corden have this "TV Roundup" segment on his show and the latest feature of it is Mariah's World. They had some skit for it and all that but based on their reactions when the show was brought up, they clearly think that Mariah is a joke right now and not in a good way. I honestly feel that the majority of her peers in the industry are giving her the respect because of her contributions in music and her as a "legend", but Mariah as a person? I don't think I can say the same (just look at her latest Ellen interview). It's just sad that she allows the "diva persona" to overpower her authentic self in the eye of the public. "She's in on the joke", but how long it will be? Or maybe she's just really become a joke? It's sad that these days, no one really gives a shit about her except the people on her payroll. I just hope that all of this tacky relevancy will reflect on her next album and shock us that the "joke era" is finally gone and the real Mariah is back when the promotion starts.

In the videos of Mariah singing at that wedding, she sounds bad. She needs to start coming correct or not come at all. I don't know what some fans are looking at when they see those few pictures of Mariah and Bryan walking "next" to each other but they look nothing like a real couple to me. Tanaka looked liked a thirst bucket cheesing and salivating at the cameras and people. Mariah's face looked like she was trying to mask the realization that even she can't believe that she's fallen so low to have her back up dancer, who's now just an annoyance, as a "love" interest in any capacity.

Who is judging, though? From what I've read, Mariah's World is hardly focused on the music, but rather her growing relationship with Bryan T. The show seems to be the only project she's promoting right now, so I think it was a fair question to ask. Stop thinking that people are being judgmental or unsupportive just because a question is asked or a person has an opinion on something. No one on this board is out to get Mariah. We love her and we're all just trying to understand what the hell is going on in "her" world. Isn't that the purpose of having a message board in the first place? To discuss different topics? Geez.
