Re: Infamous/Dangerous sneak peak (66,982) (66,987) by RibbonB from USA
I think she will have a good amount of time. They seem to actually perform it on stage as well as the studio time. It looks really good.

Re: Infamous (66,976) (66,986) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
She said "a little more touch my body". As in "a little less conversation and a little more touch my body". Which is not incorrect. We don't even know if she referenced Mariah. We were just joking about it. It could just have been a coincidence.

Mariah's Empire outfit is outrageous (66,985) by Sheila from United States

Re: Infamous (66,979) (66,984) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Haha true. Now that Ariana has stopped blatantly copying Mariah, I wouldn't mind them singing on stage or whatever. They can easily squash this "feud". Ariana has been a Mariah fan always and Mariah has apparently praised Ariana to Nick.

Extended sneak peak (66,983) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
This is an extended version of the sneak peak Mariah tweeted. Explains why they decided to auto tune the rap verse. Love the little flirtation between Andre and Mariah. Andre is one good looking dude.

Re: Infamous/Dangerous sneak peak (66,981) (66,982) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Saw the clip, I was worried about the acting before but she did fine. So I'm relieved. I like that they included a "coaching moment" and didn't just dive straight into them singing the song. I hope they give her a good amount of screen time since they have been using her name to promote the show since even before the season aired.

Infamous/Dangerous sneak peak (66,981) by RibbonB from USA
Mariah tweeted a wonderful sneak peak of her performance on Empire and she is great. It explains a lot and of course they focus on "It's dangerous". Sounds really good and she is coaching Jamal back to singing confidence.

Infamous would have made more sense (66,980) by Shezz from Pk
Ok I'm not going down the whole "Glitter was a soundtrack not a Mariah album" route or defending Infamous - it's an average song nothing great - but if it were to be released after the Empire episode it would have been received a little better within the context. Yes it should have been good enough to stand on its own for sure but seeing the episode and understanding how its written to help Jussie's slump - hence Mariah doesn't stand out much and the whole Empire context it would have made a little more sense. Though this song wasn't nearly as hyped up as Infinity. The only person I can remember who hyped it was Terrance Howard.

Re: Infamous (66,970) (66,979) by Malcolm from Asia
Don't forget the "dangerous" reference of Mariah from Ariana's latest album Mimi L. Lol. I see nothing bad when these 2 ladies got to do a duet. With VH1 Divas coming back, hoping to see Mariah in there having a duet with one of these reigning pop stars, Maybe a "Emotions" performance together with Ariana?

Re: Infamous vocals (66,966) (66,978) by darrian liu from taiwan
I agree. Mariah put a bit too much restraint in Infamous but it's better than making a song with tons of high notes she can't consistently hit live. Plus, Infamous has that minimal sound that I've been wanting her to lean more on and although the results isn't very good for Mariah's standards, it's decent. And the more I listen to it, it actually grows on me pretty quickly. Mariah's harmonies are also more subdued and sounded so pretty.

Re: Infamous vocals (66,973) (66,977) by Edouard from France
Hi don't worry it doesn't. I think it's not necessarly preservation. [...] gave a lot live so in the studip it can't be a problem for an amazing singer like Mariah. I think she wants to present herself less like a vocal powerhouse and appeal to a younger generation that is not familiar with amazingly gifted vocalist. They really aren't. And no, [...] is not an amazing singer [...] good. [...] Mariah is just exeptionnal. Christina Aguilera is a great singer. I don't like her voice and what she does with it but it's undeniable. Mariah's just more of an artist with her instrument I believe.

Re: Infamous (66,970) (66,976) by Edouard from France
The only difference is that Mariah used the English vocabulary. Ariana used Mariah's vocabulary. When she sings "a little touch my body" it should be spelled as "a little: 'touch my body'". She even sings it the way MC does. Total plagia.

Re: Daydream (66,965) (66,975) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Daydream was the reason I became a fan of Mariah. I will never forget the day I first heard "Fantasy". What a voice, what a sound what a beautiful singer. Then "Open Arms", "One Sweet Day" and "Always be my baby" were on heavy rotations on the radio. Mariah was really every day on the radio. And "One Sweet Day" was out of this world. I still love Daydream so much. Although she has so many great albums. I will always be thankful how Mariah helped me with her music. For every mood there's a song from her that will fit to it. And makes you feel better and understood.

So delusional (66,974) by Giovanni from USA
How can anyone think Mariah sounds even remotely good in "Infamous"? She sounds hella hoarse and tired. Like she's had way too many splashes. She's struggling to sing a song that isn't vocally challenging what so ever. Sometimes I worry about her state of voice. At the Beacon she sounded spectacular (ala "Joy to the world") and in Vegas there were times she sounded great. But I noticed she tends to sound very hoarse and dry. If she's not getting rest, still drinking or not working out her voice, how does she expect to make a comeback or give a live television performance?

Re: Infamous vocals (66,967) (66,973) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Hi. I hope this doesn't come off as defensive. Yes, I actually grew up singing in choirs so I do know what vocal control sounds like. And while I do agree that maybe part of the reason is to not overpower Jussie, it sounds more to me like vocal preservation, which is a good thing. Her performance on this song reminds me of what she did in the verses of Crybaby, although the latter was far more challenging in terms of breath control. Infamous is easier to sing, which will bode well for possible live performances, should there be any.

Infamous reviews (66,972) by Sheila from United States
Here is an online review: So pretty, Mariah and Jussie's voices sound so good together, I'm loving the intimate production, and I'm just super thrilled to be hearing a new Mariah Carey song. Can't believe how much I have missed her. Can she please release a new album soon? "Infamous" is everything, she shines and excels in it, and this has made me have a vast hunger for new Mimi music.

Re: Infamous (66,964) (66,970) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
With Ariana referencing TMB in her song "Into You" and Mariah referencing "I'm so into you" in "Infamous", you better be prepared to get your scalp snatched by a duet between these two. I'm telling you, these are hints, breadcrumbs being dropped. Haha I'm kidding by the way. By the way we might be getting another single. "Might be" is the key word here, because Mariah said she is working to get a few things out before she embarks on her Latin leg of the SSFT shows.

Re: Infamous vocals (66,966) (66,967) by Edouard from France
Hi. I must say that I really don't know what you (and others) are talking about. I don't know if you are a singer, but a singer knows that the way Mariah sings in Infamous requires a lot of control in order to keep this "haunted and deep tone" throughout the song. It's an Empire track. The star is Jussie. Mariah is humble in that way. She has never overpowered any of her peers on a duet/featuring. When you think about it she has never competed with anyone on a track. In Infamous she gave us tone, control, emotions and whistles (so well incorporated in the song that everyone seems to overlook them). This song is "weird" but so interesting in my opinion. It reminds me of One & Only which is one of my favs on TEOM. I actually like the autotuned part in Infamous, though I'm usually not a big fan of autotune. Especially when it's meant to compensate a lack of artistry and vocal technique, which is really not the case here. I think it allows the song to have a rap verse without having another one collaborating on the song. It gives it a cool edge IMHO.

Re: Infamous vocals (66,961) (66,966) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
I must admit I have been a bit rash in describing Mariah's vocals on Infamous. Don't get me wrong, I still think her delivery comes across as listless or even bored, but the richness and tone of it is still quite impeccable. I agree that her Vegas residency and the SSF tour has taught her a lot of things about the current state of her voice, especially live. Infamous finally seems like the product of her realizing that her once limitless instrument is not like it used to be. It's a more minimalist approach. I appreciate it now because I momentarily forgot that that was what we have been asking her all along - to make music that suits her current voice (something she wasn't ready to do with MIAMTEC). Infamous may not have been the best material for her to showcase that approach, but ultimately it could be a small (mis)step in the right direction. It may take some time for the public to get used to a more subdued Mariah, but a song can still be a Mariah track even without the money notes and whistles embellished everywhere.

Daydream (66,965) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Happy 21st birthday to this timeless body of work. This album has the right ingredients of a classic pop, R&B, A/C, with hip hop undertones and a perfect blend of Mariah Carey.

Article: Mariah Carey requested Alan Carr's set be rotated (66,963) by RibbonB from USA
Mariah interviews well with Alan Carr. Not sure if he was shading her, but I love their old interviews especially the one from the Friday Night Project. Mariah looked and seemed at her very best. She was bright, animated and seemed very happy and was oh, so thin. I hope we get some good interviews when she promotes her newest project perhaps in 2017.

Re: Mandy (66,945) (66,962) by Musti from UK
Miley's comments might not have come completely out of the blue. I wouldn't be surprised if those who attended the WMAs in 2014 (including Miley) were frustrated with Mariah for being notoriously late. It's one of the reasons for the taping not being submitted in time and ultimately not airing in the US. I can't imagine something like that leaving a good impression on anyone. I don't think Miley's words about Mariah are justified though. I especially don't get how she thinks she can compare her music to Mariah's in any shape or form. Words aren't enough.

Infamous (66,961) by B from USA
Does anyone else think Mariah's vocal styling or performance on Infamous was inspired by her Vegas performances of TGIFY? (Not sure I used the right technical terms to describe her vocals.)
