Article: Listen to "Infamous" by Mariah Carey, Jussie Smollett (66,836) by Ignacio Pineda from United States
I like it, not my favorite, but I love anything she does.

Infamous (66,835) by Will from England
I like it. It's a nice slow jam, Mariah isn't over the top, the lyrics (to a point) are sensual, it fits the episode (from what I've seen from trailers), the whistle notes are sublime in the background like how she used to do them, so they're not in the foreground taking over.

Infamous (66,834) by Terna from Nigeria
I like it. It's a laid back R&B jam, current sounding and a step in the right direction of how music should sound. Nice thoughtful lyrics too. The only setback was the auto tune on Jussie's vocals - a tad bit too much, but all in all it would play well with empire. B-

Agreed. She could easily replicate these vocals in a live setting. I'm hoping she sings it on a morning show (with a piano and without the unnecessary rap) and let's loose and wails at the end. The main complaint I've noticed is that it doesn't sound like a Mariah song, it isn't. Sonically it's in the Empire wheelhouse despite being produced by JD and Cox. I don't think we should judge where she's going musically on her next studio effort off of this song.

Re Miley (66,832) by Mirage_Nunez from America
Okay I just read the full portion of the interview and while she actually didn't bring MC up in the interview (as I initially thought), I stand by everything else I said about her commentary being unnecessary and not even a proper response to the question that was at hand. I.e. she still needs to go to an empty stadium, start from the very top, and work her way all the down having several seats.

Infamous (66,831) by Merr Hasenan from Malaysia
Agree with Randy, not a #1 material but not bad for a song from tv series. I didn't expect great outcomes from Jussie and the robotic sound of him is annoying. Well, it is all about Jamal after all and Kitty was there to help, right? I'm hoping for Mariah to release the song - minus the cast of Empire. Still not a #1 material but atleast it will be all about Mariah.

Miley Cyrus your seat awaits you (66,830) by Mirage_Nunez from America
I don't get how some lambs could say Miley wasn't throwing shade or being negative when she randomly brought up Mariah in her interview just to throw salt on her name. Then she proceeded to compare Mariah to herself in a "lesser than way". The audacity of it all. You guys say this a reflection of the way this generation/the general feels about her, but everytime one of these lesser girls come for Mariah they get dragged by fans and the general public alike. So I'm just saying Mariah must still have some respect. Unless you're going to acknowledge Mariah's musical genius and undeniable impact on many of today's top singers, then why even mention her out the blue. She could've kept that. People say Mariah is a shady b*tch, but atleast she never bring people up in interviews just to make snide remarks.

I like it after 2 listens there is a kind of simplicity in the song and her voice that I am really appreciating. The auto tune à la The Dream (like the song: falsetto and the album Memoirs Of The Imperfect Angel) the song is perfect for Empire. I though it would have been a song à la It's Like That. I understand people who were expecting for more because we always want the best and the most exceptional from MC but for once I am satisfied to not have all MC's assets in one song. My rate 3/5 stars.

This song is for Empire people. Not a Mariah Carey song. I for one think it works perfectly with the show. Am I the only one that is excited to have new vocals?

Infamous (66,827) by Mirage_Nunez from America
Is it Vanishing 2016 (like Terrence made it seem)? No. But I actually enjoyed the song for what it is; a simple R&B slow jam. I thought they both sound nice on the track vocally. It's definitely not terrible by any means imo. I find that word to be used rather loosely these days.

New song honest review (66,825) by Natalia from Italy
Can I have the last few minutes of my life back? That song is cheesier than a cheese stuffed crust, 3 cheese pizza, with extra cheese. I hope I never have to hear that song ever again. I'll take "Infinity" over that any day. It just sounds so soul-less and fake. Just awful. If this is the direction that all her new music will be going, I'm out.

Re: Infamous (66,821) (66,824) by B from USA
This is an Empire song and not a Mariah Carey song. The autotuned rap is distracting but it's an otherwise enjoyable R&B ballad. Mariah's vocals are the highlight.

Infamous (66,823) by Randy from USA
I like the song. It has a haunting, rhythmic pulse to it. #1 not a chance and I agree with you all who said it's great she's singing a song in her current voice without the studio tricks thus making it necessary for her to use a backing track live. Which I doubt this is part of her new album and therefore she won't ever perform this live.

Infamous (66,822) by Mara from United States
Ok so I actually like it. I wasn't really expecting anything big with this song and after listening on repeat I do feel it's a grower. I think it fits with the show after seeing the upcoming scenes with the song used. I can very much do without all the snaps in the song and the auto tune. I like the darker feel, and the way Mariah places those whistles is something I have missed. I also liked the fast piano singing moments, almost classical operatic feel that I would love her to dip into more. One thing I do wonder though, why do we have TAOLG type vocals on this when she sounded so amazing live recently? She does not sound bad on this song, But she sounds tired and her voice sounds dry. She sounded so clear on the Vegas "My All" vocals. Maybe she recorded this when she was on vacation and having all those "splashes" ala "I Will Survive" karaoke.

The production quality has improved and I love Mariah but the song is just OK for me. I feel like musically it is never quite given the moment to soar that it seems to natuarally call for. It stays in one place, also found the tuning on Jesse's vocals destracting.

Demi and Miley, sisters in arms. Wonder if they've seen much of Cinderella since the wedding?

Infamous (66,819) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
I am happy Mariah went with her current vocal state instead of using studio magic that would be questionable to duplicate live. Also after listening to the song again I have to say this song fits perfectly with the Empire brand and sound. But something in my spirit tells me that the new album is going to be slow writing and recording process simply because Mariah is at a place where the general public is questioning her abilities and talent so I think this next album will be a special as well as an important body of work. The I this.

Re: Infamous vocals (66,812) (66,818) by Malcolm from Asia
100% with you Todd. Why so many hate? For me her voice sounds good in there, it sounds natural. Yeah it's not what I expect but still, it's a better song compared to Infinity and I don't get why is it bad that "it's very Empire" when that's the goal in the first place, it fits as a soundtrack to the series. Can't blame other people/casual listeners for not supporting Mariah because in her fans alone, she can't get their 100% support.

Re: Infamous vocals (66,812) (66,817) by Bill from the UK
Earpiece dramas, haha. Infamous hasn't wowed me but it might be a grower. As much as people didn't take to Infinity, at least it had some energy, a melody, and some showmanship to it. Good that Mariah is using current vocals and it is something she can sing live without an issue, but it just made me long for the days when she'd brightly and breezily beam out "I need a lover to give me" or "when you walk by every night", but we are where we are.

Infamous (66,816) by Sheila from United States
We all know Empire does not produce hits. We all know Empire's music is so-so. Infamous does sound like a typical Rnb song. Vocals are basic, melody is typical. It will work fine with the theme and may get Mariah back on radio for a minute.

Re: Infamous vocals (66,812) (66,814) by Musti from UK
I agree. I don't really like the song and I really wish she would drop the fingersnap sound. But her voice sounds good and unfiltered. She could easily sing this live. I'm glad she's gradually leaving high chest notes behind.

Infamous (66,813) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
This song may very well live up to its title. Mariah sounds tired and disinterested. Jussie is Jussie, although he manages to be somewhat tolerable for the most part. All sounds meh until apparently some T-Pain impersonator goes all out on the bridge. The chorus wouldn't even pass as a verse for any song in any of Mariah's earlier albums. I always thought Terrence had a questionable ear for what sounds good, but boy does this validate it. This definitely does not me feel like I'm hearing Mariah for the first time. If I wanted that then I'd just listen to Butterfly over and over again. This is not horrendous, but it is just so weak. I'd be floored if this weirdly turned out to be successful.

Infamous vocals (66,812) by Todd from Melbourne, Australia
I'm gonna go against y'all and say that I don't mind it. It's leaps and bounds above Infinity. And the vocals actually sound like her current voice. She could actually sing this live without there being earpiece dramas.

I got a chance to listen to the new song Infamous and I will say while I crave new Mariah music, but this is not it. I understand it has to fit into the show but it sounds very Memiors left overs with dated production. I know for sure that this is not where she is headed if she wants any chance of redeeming what is left of her legacy or any chance of making a decent showing on the charts with her next album. On a side note Jussie Smollett's voice is terrible and very whiney in my opinion and auto tune does not help.

The meet-and-greet guy (66,810) by Andrew from UK
I'm glad he has some support from some friends on here. But let's be honest here in that he is more than likely a total whack job. I don't know him, admittedly, but following anybody that closely, when it is affecting your life that much that you are dropping (what is probably) all your money on it, spending so much time on it, making crazy-ass things like dolls that only children should be making, well, at worst, you aren't all there and at best, you have issues - you certainly are not normal and will have made people wary of you. If you then kick off or even act a little temperamental, people will x10 it, because you already had them on edge. So, I'm glad he has support, but I changed my (brief) opinion on this. Just because he's (alarmingly) throwing money at Mariah to hang out regularly for a few moments, seeming to (alarmingly) need her to qualify his existence, doesn't mean he should get special treatment. The person who pays ten times shouldn't have exceptions made for them over the person who pays one time. It sounds like anyone who knows him should have a word with him and try to help him figure out what's wrong and lead a normal, grown-up life.
