MSG show (101,827) by Robert-Anthony from United States
It looks like from videos on the web that the December 13th show will be the one shown on CBS on the 20th.

Toronto etc (101,824) by DK from USA
My sister (consider her general public vs. part of the lambily) was invited to attend MC's second show in Toronto (12/11). I was curious about her experience. She said MC came out 1.5 hours late, had many ensemble changes and had a glam team on stage attending to her - all of which my sister found off-putting. I asked how was the singing and she said Mariah sounded and looked great and the moment with her daughter was very sweet and caring. In comparison with other artists she has seen live, she found Mariah's show overall disappointing as it was more about "her diva persona" and less about the music or ability to genuinely connect with fans live.

In one of the online clips (from the first night in Toronto) Mariah stated that she had not rehearsed "Miss You Most..." (end of this clip), which I find quite odd for such a big venue/show with a televised CBS/Paramount deal.

I have seen her in multiple shows in the past and she has been great. I rarely comment here but I sense more personal negativity than constructive criticism. At the end of the day, Mariah is a business entity and a private human being.

Perhaps different people have different reasons for being here, but my primary reason is to learn something niche/rare about Mariah (including tips about upcoming projects) that is not already available to the general public.

White Lotus (101,823) by Todd from Sydney, Australia
I just finished season two of White Lotus. I couldn't help but think Mariah could find herself a niche similar to Jennifer Coolidge had done. They have similar vibes, and I reckon Mariah could've given the role of Tania a good go. [censored]

Everybody is aware now that her voice is pretty gone, it's not a secret. I guess people who go to her concerts have low expectations regarding her vocal abilities and that's why nobody complains. They are just happy to see her and good for them. And Mariah's wallet.

Since my post was censored, let me just rephase that. No, I don't think any of them were there (as usual). It's just another negativity group think (as usual) because Mariah is their favorite punch bag (as usual). And apparently their opinion matters more than those who were actually there and enjoyed the show because they decided to focus on that. Hopefully, this is a much nicer post.

I couldn't have said better. I've gone to the Christmas shows three times at Beacon Theater, and with the euphoria and excitement, one don't really notice the miming or even the struggle unless it is really bad. At Beacon Theater she was way better than this, but guess what? When I got home, and looked at the videos my friend and I recorded from third row, I could notice everything, the good and the not so good, but at that point, the not so good was very decent. She wasn't sing-shouting or singing as if she was in pain or constipated. It's delusional to think that cellphone recordings are altering anything to make her look bad. Video and sound from camcorders can't compete with the high quality of cellphones recordings nowadays, but if you watch that awful recording of Mariah on the Music Box Tour, you would notice that while the image was bad, Mariah sounded amazing, so there goes that theory. If anything, fan's recordings with cellphones have just come to expose her, that's all. Nobody is expecting her to sound like in the 1990's, but she should have some respect for the people who are paying their hard earned money to go see a decent show and there's nothing wrong about it. Mariah doesn't owe us anything, but we don't owe her anything either. It's only fair to demand a decent performance for a decent amount of money. Being delusional is looking at those recordings and think that the recordings are so distorted that they make her sound as if were struggling or plain flat.

About time someone gave us some first person insight into her performances instead of critiques of cell phone clips. These critics are talking about a "charade" but it would mean that the audience at the concert, her inner circle, and the media must in cahoots with her to make her look good.

The thing you're missing, is that someone has to say something, and we older fans do because we have followed her career with love and devotion since the beginning. No one in her camp is telling her to lay off the alcohol and weed, as it is crippling her voice and legacy. Not Bryan, not Trey, not Mary Ann. Why stop their paycheck? But any friend that loved and cared about her would see the self sabotage and do something about it. But, carry on shouting "yas queen" until she goes the way of Whitney. It will be on your head when that happens, for enabling and supporting and cheering on her demise. None of us are enjoying coming here to say this, but we love her too much to stand by and watch it unfold in front of our eyes.

The benefit of phone recordings is that they remove the reverb. So it becomes abundantly clear when the lip syncing and pre-records kick in. Usually though we are put on notice as Mariah will fiddle with the malfunctioning ear piece (which I think is actually her cue to the sound technician), and then waggle her head when she mimes the note. If you enjoyed the concert good for you, but any spectator can see it was one of her worst yet. Hardly phenomenal as you put it. That status is reserved for the Daydream Tour stop at London on June 23rd 1996. What an evening that was. Sorry you missed out.

Terna you're completely right. How quickly everybody forgets that it was us original fans from the beginning that got her all those number ones, alongside her "own G4 and the Benz with the doors that lift up from the floor". She wouldn't be where she is today were it not for our love and support. And yes, she does score a number one every year. With a track from 1994 with 1994 vocals. Otherwise, she hasn't had a hit since Obsessed. And don't come at me with Big Energy. That was Genius of Love, with a rap, and featured Mariah on a remix.

I agree with Terna, Bill and others who are putting forth honest assessments and critiques of Mariah's performances. It is not hateful or demeaning to point out what is objectively true: Mariah is not training/exercising her voice. She is not taking care of her physical health. She is relying heavily on pre-recorded tracks and altering those tracks from time to time to disguise the lip syncing.

We do not need to be in the audience at these shows to know what's going on. Many of us have been following her for years and know all of the tricks she has used to disguise the lip syncing since the late 1990s... back when she did it more sparingly.

Mariah needs honest people in her circle to tell her the truth. Sometimes the kindest thing someone can do is to tell the truth rather than to go along with the charade.

The [fans] which is what I am, are who made, make and continue to make her who she is - and whatever achievements she has achieved, or records broken - we her core fan base are directly responsible for that and she should never ever get that fact twisted. She is up there because of us (all caps), our money and undying love effort and support. You tell her [we] said so. For you to come here with the bullsh*t talk about her not caring is just plain dumb. Is she going to those shows to sing to herself? Fans purchased those high priced tickets. The least she can do and is obligated to do is show up on her A game, or at the very least something close to it. You must be one of those gremlins on her team only concerned about your paycheck.

Hah. It always makes me laugh when the age old excuse of her singing for 30 years is why her voice started going south (in 1997) to the point where she can no longer get through an entire song without playback, backing singer masking, breathing issues, flat and shouty notes etc. This is said even though hundreds upon hundreds of other singers that have been singing just as long sound fine, with minimal voice deterioration. Those that experienced it, shock horror, were heavy smokers, drinkers and drug users. Wake up and join the dots.

First of all Mariah Carey [does not owe you anything]. You staying a fan is up to you, that [doesn't] mean she has to cater to you lol you sound delusional. If you want to stay liking her music being a fan then that's up to you but you ain't doing her no favors, were you even at the concert physically, did you make a physical purchase of the ticket. No, so what do you know sir?

If nobody cares she wouldn't be selling out, she wouldn't be breaking CBS records and she wouldn't score a [Billboard] no. 1 every year around Christmas time, she would not be relevant, the people, the public and fans love her, trust when I say she's [doesn't] care about your 2 cents, so you can complain all you want but she's going to stay booked and busy.

Everybody that was at the show spoke so wonderfully about it and how happy and more freer she's been in years and her attempt at regaining her confidence back, I am yet to hear an audience member demand a refund. A lot of you are very delusional if you honestly think she's going to sound like 90s Mariah, she's been in this game for 30 years get over it and move on to another celebrity if she does not feed your interest anymore instead of obsessively complaining about her.

It really makes me sad that their duet was pre-recorded. "Away In a Manger" is not a difficult song to sing, and it feels so wrong to have Monroe in on the pre-recording grift.
