Frances O'Connor (101,352) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Every time I watch a movie with young Frances O'Connor I think she looks a bit like Mariah. Especially the scene on the beach with Brendan Fraser on "Bedazzeled". Just something funny I wanted to share.

Re: Variety article - L.A Reid (101,337) (101,351) by Bill from the UK
I've never understood why everybody seems to fall at LA Reid's feet and act like he's the second coming of Christ. He treated Toni Braxton appallingly and had one decent record with Mariah (Emancipation). Mariah has managed many hit albums without his input or management.

With Emancipation, Mariah herself was hungry to be back at the top of the charts, and without her drive and passion for the project, it would not have been the success it was. Also, the public I think wanted to see her return to where she belonged, as she was due it after the unfair treatment she got for her mental well-being and the lackluster response to CB.

E=MC2 was Emancipation's second verse. Cruise Control indeed. "The Voice" that was all over the previous album was scaled back in exchange for rapid staccato singing and party songs, and Mariah herself lost interest after Touch My Body following her marriage to Nick.

As for Memoirs, handing the production of the entire album to The Dream was an error as the album sounded like one, long, continuous song. By track 11 it's like, enough with the finger snaps already.

I'd rather Mariah work with somebody totally new and different and interesting. But what do I know? As always, I wish her every success and happiness with her new projects and if LA Reid pulls it out the bag, then great.

So funny though. Everyone was baying for his blood when he started working with J.Lo. How quickly the tide turns.

Yes, MC probably knows this is her last chance at crafting an album that is a platinum selling album.

Re: Mariah's certifications (101,342) (101,349) by Edward from USA
"Mariah Carey" hasn't reached diamond status yet. As for Mariah's performance at Global Citizen, it is evident her fluidity and buttery tone that would make her sound like an angel are gone. I really think she shouldn't go on tour anymore as she had stated. Touring would definitely obliterate what's left of her voice. I love me some Mariah and I'll support her efforts on any studio recordings she releases from here on. Randy, I think you should just make peace with the fact that the voice as we knew it is gone, I would say about 60% of her voice is gone. She can still piece together some great music in the studio. Vocally, I think she still has two decent albums left. Let's celebrate her legacy and don't torture yourself comparing her recent performances with those of her prime, you'll always be disappointed. At this point I'm more than happy with her being a studio artist, exclusively.

MC LA JLo (101,348) by T from USA
Didn't JLo follow LA Reid after he was fired from Sony to his own label creation? And nothing happened with her singing career, only a few flop singles and no album to speak of. I hope Mariah doesn't get the same old lady diva treatment. The last thing they worked on together was "I Don't" but also Stella was in the picture. I just hope LA Reid understands that this is probably his last shot at such a big time artist working with him as well so he should throw everything he's got towards it.

Butterfly 25th anniversary vinyl (101,346) by Bill from the UK
For anybody keen on obtaining this, Vinyl Me Please are taking pre-orders for the second edition of the vinyl, following the first edition selling out immediately. Mariah's official store has sold out of both editions, but the second edition is still available on VMP at the time of writing. Different coloured vinyl this time round (beige instead of honey, looks better in my mind).

Mariah Carey UK merch (101,345) by Zachariah from Croatia
Guys, did anyone ordered something from Mariah Carey store through Mariah Carey UK store? I ordered Agent M handcuffs 11 days ago - no news from them still. Tried through support mail, nothing. Any help?

Why Mariah's performance is the only one not uploaded on Global Citizen's YouTube Channel? There is only the actual live transmission but not the separated performances.

I'm going to try and be as positive as possible about the performance. The dress looked nice. The Metallica joke was funny. Her pre-recorded tracks sounded good.

Mariah's certifications (101,342) by Randy from USA
I'm gonna ignore Terna. All I really want to know is where is her Diamond award for Mariah Carey so she can have three Diamond albums?

You know what Matty, L.A. Reid is the reason why MC moved back to New York. She had to be close to his New York offices for L.A. Reid to work his magic. We are in for some collaborations that L.A. Reid has always wanted for MC. I will just name my top 10: Saleem Remi, Rex Rideout, Kem, Donald Lawrence, Deitrick Haddon, Ryan Tedder. J Moss, Missy Ellliot, Harmony Samuels, and of course another Babyface collaboration.

I would be okay if MC just became a studio artist. I get so excited when she releases a new album. I know that she is going to add all the vocal layering and background vocals to the highest power. I am excited about 2023 with MC, Rihanna, Dua Lipa, and Toni Braxton.

Here we go again, with this Negative Nancy, spreading his gloom and doom, depression and confusion all around this message board. Sit down sometimes Randy and go through your own message archive and you will perceive how you come across – a broken "Right To Dream", "What happened to her voice in 1997" record.

Global Citizen (101,338) by Lee from UK
I was not prepared for the Honey/Heartbreaker mash-up. I would love for Mariah to release this as a remix. The whole set was everything I expected from a Mariah Carey performance in 2022. Lots of poorly executed lip syncing because Mariah can never remember which version she is miming along too. Strained vocals with lots of staccato in place of smooth runs and transitions. Some rambling soliloquy made up of half-completed sentences and under formulated thoughts. Mariah used to be so eloquent and now it's like she second guesses every other sentence she utters. My hope for Mariah is that she continues to make music for the studio but then creates alternative versions of those songs that she can comfortably perform live. She has said before that she makes her songs too high in the studio as she thinks they sound better. If she did some stripped back versions in a lower key, the world get to see that, actually, her vocals are great when she is comfortable and not reaching for notes she can only hit in the studio.

Variety article - L.A Reid (101,337) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
What is this mention in the Variety article about L.A Reid currently working with Mimi on her new album? That’s damn exciting.

Such an amazing performance. The crowd was on fire, and her voice sounded strong and beautiful. She was also so passionate and really present in the moment. I also loved the ballet dancers, during [Hero] and her speech about women's rights and "butterflies who are thriving in the margins".

[censored] Mariah Carey has reached a place in her career where she can create and do as she pleases as she's already solidified her success, something you've seem to forget over and over again just based on your comments lol. [censored] [Webmaster: How dare you insult other fans the way you do, just because they were critical of her performance?]

I loved the performance. It was nice seeing her back home in the city she loves, the crowd seemed really enthused and she seemed to draw off of them with fresh takes on some of her hits. Bravo!

Randy, I know what you mean. I think the ones who grew up with her music or "know" Mariah for so long have another view on certain things. But we always want her to "win" and that she gives the best she can. I haven't watched the performance yet, I hope I can find it online today. I'm glad that most of you liked her gig.

Re: Global Citizen (101,324) (101,332) by Randy from USA
Thanks for not beating me up. What no one ever understands about me, I want Mariah to win. She looked so good. She hasn't aged over the last ten years. I would love for her to just sing where she is and do lyrically driven music. Right To Dream etc. I played the out of GTFO in my classroom the other day during my planning period. She's a genius. That's why the bar is set so high. Wait. What was the subject again?

LA Reid executive producer on new album (101,329) by "MariahHater" from Hell
I read some news that LA is going to executive produce MC's new album. I'm not gonna expect much but just hoping for new music before she reaches 60 and chant her songs.

Also, I'm wishing for a toned down performance even once in my lifetime this era, non glammed. Just pure acoustic. Mariah in her dusters and the [piano].

Re: Global Citizen (101,323) (101,328) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I agree with you a bit, Randy, I have watched WBT a few times now, and have become uncertain about the last chorus. Maybe Mariah just [has] gotten much better to hide that she lip synchs. But she makes a movement at the very end when she hit that long high note where it looks very natural, it actually looks like she has to make an effort to hit it. Well, I won't let this ruin the performance for me, it was nice to [see] her back on stage again.
