Re: Time to migrate (58,908) (58,937)

I remember in highschool when E=MC2 came out and we had the school mall day for students and the community for our economics class. I had Migrate on my playlist and out of all the popular songs I had on my playlist Migrate was the only people were jamming too and asking for me to put it on repeat. That song turned my classroom restaurant into a club lol, school appropriate of course.

Nobody is knocking down Adele because she has current success. I was just pointing out that lambs need not be concerned about her current success as it is no threat to Mariah. Where is the logic in your statement implying that I feel threatened by Adele? I clearly pointed out that she is no match for Mariah. If you are realistic and look at recent artist trends, you will see that they are hot for a short period of time, they peak and then decline. Some even exit the industry. I did not say that Adele will not last but based on statistics and looking at recent trends, you will see the cycle repeat itself. Katy Perry, Leona Lewis, Ashanti, etc are all examples of this. Katy Perry and Leona are also great songwriters and they have written hit songs during their prime era but they fail to have the longevity and staying power that Mariah has. Based on this trend, it is probable that Adele may experience a similar fate. I am not saying that it will happen for certain, but it is probable. For the record, Rihanna having 13 number 1 hits is no threat to Mariah's 18. I have nothing against Adele and truly respect her catalogue of songs but in my opinion (and this is my opinion as everyone is entitled to) she is a one dimensional singer who the general public will get bored with in time. She lacks the versatility that Mariah has and that is why I am saying that Mariah has set the standard very high with her overall talent.

Rihanna is four phone in hook's away from matching Mariah's record. She is about to drop a new album too. Remember that saying never count your enemies out, because they might surprise you.

Good God. Mariah isn't aging at all, she looks straight out of the Honey video shoot if not better, I feel like she's coming for blood this time. New album things, a hybrid of Mariah Carey, Daydream and The Emancipation Of Mimi.

Does anybody know for a fact that Mariah was going to be working with Diane? Something tells me she's planning on making a masterpiece. Another "TEOM" perhaps? We shall see.

Obviously you're threatened by Adele. Because you wouldn't be ranting on with "Mariah did this", "Mariah did that". Just leave her alone already. You would never have half her talent or success if you were an artist in the business. Adele is making a name for herself. Also, how do you she won't last and be around in the near future? As long as you bring great songs and sell albums, you will last. And you obviously don't know how many hits Rihanna has lol. Mariah is the queen, but don't knock any other artist down just because they're having success.

I understood your post and wasn't attempting to correct anything you were saying. In fact, I agree with you that there is nothing to worry about (which was the intention behind my adding to the discussion about Adele on the board at the moment). I meant for my comments to be general on the topic, in addition to what you already mentioned.

That's not really true and you don't know how Adele's career will pan out. The difference between Adele and a few of the other artists you mentioned is the fact that she writes her own songs and sings them very well. Of course she's different to Mariah but they come from different worlds and backgrounds. Mariah was practically driven like a workhorse for nearly a whole decade, working like that is going to achieve you great success and records. Adele has worked slower and has built a family inbetween it all. Adele is a wonderful person, a great artist and has achieved success without special effects/twerking/getting naked. Mariah's approach to music and how involved she gets is what makes her amazing, and I'm sure she does more than she is credited for. But I think that comes from music being the only thing she had for a long period of time. Adele hasn't been in that situation but that doesn't make her less of an artist. I'd rather someone like her hit Mariah's records compared to people like Beyonce, Rihanna or Nicki etc.

Dear MiTodoChop. If you read my post and understood it clearly, then you would have understood that I was not implying that Adele was trying to be "the next Mariah Carey". I was merely explaining to the lambs that there is no need for anyone to be concerned about her breaking Mariah's record because Mariah has set a high standard that is difficult to reach. I am well aware of 25 and the success that Adele is currently experiencing and that is good for her. My point is that just like the other singers mentioned in my previous post, she too will be "flavour of the year". It is difficult to have longevity and staying power in the industry and Mariah proved that she has both qualities. In all probability, Adele just like other people who were considered "hot" in the past will also fade away. Look at the record that Leona Lewis broke for the fastest download of her song. People thought that she will be the next best thing but now you hear nothing of her. There is no need to tell me about Adele's current success as we are all well aware of it. In my opinion, she is hot now and gaining great publicity but she won't have the longevity that Mariah has. Even a legend like Celine who was very popular in the 90s was not able to dethrone Mariah. Yes, records are to be broken but nobody is close to 18 number 1 hits.

I honestly don't think Adele is trying to be anything other than an artist who makes something meaningful. She (in my humble opinion, anyway) is not trying to be "the next Mariah Carey". I adore music of all kinds. It's a big part of my life, and as such have watched some of her recent concerts and interviews. I like Adele, but I don't go out of my way to follow her or anything. You'd have to be living under a rock, however not to take note of what has occurred with 25. No one is more shocked and surprised than she is. Watch any of her promotional interviews for 25 and you'll hear her admit how blown away she is by the whole massive response to her right now. (In fact, following her taped concert special, she burst into tears because she was so nervous about her first performance in 4 years going well.) I don't think people grasp the tremendous pressure it can be for artists to be public figures. One day someone will probably "break the record" previously held by OSD. Just as Mariah did. I don't think it will be "Hello" but, if/when it does happen, it won't change or diminish any of Mariah's incredible accomplishments. She's already done so much in music in terms of legacy, and another artists success doesn't change anything.

New photos (58,921)

How many times can anyone claim their vacation photos looks like it is a flawless photo shoot worthy enough to be a magazine spread? Look at this woman. How does she look so beautiful? The hair flying, I mean come on, only Mariah. I also love this photo. These are better than some of her recent photo shoot. We need her to wear a monokini and get on that beach and post a couple of pictures on instagram. She'll look straight out of the MIAM/TAOLG cover minus the photoshop. I am happy to see the vacation photos. I think Stella should stop posting the low quality old pictures so much for no good reason. I mean yes I am all for a "Hero" anniversary post or whatever, but no need to put a random picture from the SIO shoot and label it "fringe game strong" like what is that even? Anyways I saw someone mention on another board that Mariah should use a "team account" like the Mariah Alerts account to post these if she absolutely has to and use her main account for more exclusive pictures like the vacation ones and behind the scenes stuff or just day to day updates instead of the old pictures. It doesn't even have to be her picture if she isn't in the mood, she can just post pictures of her surroundings. By the way, her instagram following has increased to 3 million. It's good to see an increase but she can do much better considering the fact that she is such a major star.

Oh please, Adele? (58,920)
by Seth M from South Africa

I don't think that we should be concerned about Adele and her 10 weeks reign. She is not on the same level as Mariah and is light years away. Right now, the attention is on her and Hello but I can assure you that it will soon fade away. There were many artists who have come and gone and when they started their careers, they all thought that they were the next Mariah Carey. Remember Ashanti and Tamia? Ashanti even claimed that she will be writing for Mariah in 2001 lol. Now you don't hear anything about them. There was also big hype when Leona Lewis and Alicia Keys came out. People said that they will be the next Mariah, but it is yet to be proven. Leona Lewis emulates Mariah until this day with her butterfly signature on her latest cd cover inlay and working with Walter A. The point I'm trying to make is that there are lot of singers who tried to contend with Mariah but failed to do so. Mariah had longevity and staying power in the industry and others including Adele will not be able to keep up to that. Rihanna also failed to garner a number 1 hit from her last album because the popularity decreases with time. The same for Lady Gaga who has to rely on image rather than vocals to gain publicity. I remember when Katy Perry was peaking in her career, many lambs were worried but I assured them that she too will fizzle out when the hype is over. As much as I respect Adele for getting a number 1 hit with a ballad, I don't think that she will break Mariah's record that is timeless. I do think however that Mariah must realize that she can still hit Number 1 with a big ballad in this day and age that is relatable to the general public and not only to the R&B market. To me, songs like "The Impossible", " Love Story" and " Candy Bling" are not ballads. Having said that, Mariah is still the queen and she has earned the ability to do or sing what she wants to in whatever way she wants to. She has inspired so many singers today and set a high standard in the music industry that not many will be be able to keep up with. So basically, I don't think that we need to worry about Adele.

I'm just speculating. Perhaps Bye Bye was chosen because the subject matter is the death of a loved one. Maybe they thought that it would have the same success as One Sweet Day, which is also dealing with death.

Is it my imagination? Didn't Mariah said Nick asked for her old school music to be performed. She started performing "Emotions" again when she was with him. I'm pretty sure she did say that. Who knows what really happened with them? I'm just grateful she started singing one of my favorite Mariah songs.

She miscarried during this period, remember? People here were mad at her for "going on vacation when she should be promoting" and all that. I don't think it's fair to blame it on Nick. Sidenote: I've spoken out here before about the Nick-bashing. Have you guys seen the comments on his instagram? Overwhelming love and respect for him andMariah. Maybe we can learn from that.
