Re: Underrated songs with chart potentials (58,906) (58,911) by Giovanni from USA
Didn't it make it to number 2? The song is just too good.

Re: Bye, Bye (58,903) (58,909) by Lee TS from USA
I don't agree about the formula, because if she really wanted to release a ballad after TMB it would have been I Stay In Love. It's a much stronger song for radio airplay. If anything, maybe LA thought they could replicate One Sweet Day's success - sorry but not even Mariah can do that.

Re: Time to migrate (58,904) (58,908) by Lee TS from USA
I totally remember that, it being Perez not liking Migrate and Seacrest popping him onto her during a radio call. Migrate should have been a single, everything about it screamed banger. Maybe not a #1 but a top 10 for sure. I do believe Mariah and LA were not agreeing on a lot during the promo roll out. Remember it was rumored that I'm That Chick was going to be the lead single? And there was this whole mess about the title being sexist or whatever. And I remember LA saying he was "surprised" by TMB being a #1 like he didn't believe in it. Even though the label were making these bad decisions, I hate to say this, but it was Nick who bombed E=MC2. Mariah couldn't juggle both and sadly abandoned the project. She was so in love with her new man and probably felt invincible because of Emancipation and TMB's success. Think about it, "Oh wow, you past Elvis. You're the #1 view for sure." I remember riding with a friend and she was singing along to Side Effects, asking me how come it wasn't a big song and this was during the Memoirs era. I just sat in silence because if I started crying, I'll be crying for the rest of the ride, no I'm just playing. Anyway, you know what they say about sequels.

I'm so surprised (58,907) by Giovanni from USA
Of how many of you think "E=MC2" was filled with potential hits? Aside from "I stay in love" and "I'll be lovin you long time", I can't say the same. The whole album is silly to be quite honest. I didn't like it all at. I thought Mariah could have done much better. "Migrate" is a [censored], sorry.

Can't Let Go, the label should have let that one ride to #1 but they pulled promotion.

Ah ok, fair enough. Maybe I'm thinking of another interview.

Time to migrate (58,904) by Edward from USA
While being interviewed by Perez Hilton, one of her biggest critics back then, and in response to negative allegations he had made about that Migrate would follow Touch My Body as the second single, Mariah stated that Migrate wouldn't be the second single, that she knew what she was doing. That she had been doing it for a long time. Mariah and her team had decided to stick with the formula of an uptempo and then a ballad, I don't think it was a decision that was pushed onto her, and she hasn't ever stated so. She definitely wanted Migrate to be a single, but not the second single. With E=MC2, Mariah was riding high on the success of The Emancipation Of Mimi, and she had the full support of her label, but bad single choices and the abandonment of the project by Mariah for whatever reason, they let die what could've been an album with four of five #1 hits. I think they went with "Bye Bye" as the second single because some of the critics who had heard the album at various listening parties stated that if nothing else could be a hit, "Bye Bye" would be a sure hit. I don't think there's anybody to blame in particular, but all of them, including Mariah. [Webmaster: See Carey hits back at internet criticism.]

Bye, Bye (58,903) by B from USA
Why Bye, Bye was chosen as the second single is mind boggling. A poor decision. Had any of the midtempo/uptempo songs been chosen as the second single Mariah would have scored another #1. The ballads on E=MC2 were weak with the exception of Thanx 4 Nothin, For The Record, and I Wish You Well. I'm thrilled Mariah is working with Warren. She needs a ballad that isn't another We Belong Together retread.

Thanks Norman. I absolutely love the song. Plus I think it has such a nice narrative that the video would have been quite easy to make. As much as I love "Bye Bye", releasing that song after TMB was one of the stupidest mistakes of Mariah's team if not the whole music industry haha. I mean come on, who does that?

Re: Vegas run (58,895) (58,901) by B from USA
I always viewed her residency as temporary. If she decides to extend the residency or not really doesn't matter. She succeed and proved she still had it. I don't think she intended to do a residency like Celine's or Britney's. If she had she would have went with a venue that doesn't already have a rooster of rotating talent.

Hey there. So I am pretty sure she said "I wouldn't" because I read the transcript of the interview. I either read transcript or it was a print interview I can't recall, I just know that I didn't get to see the interview or hear the audio. I think I might have come across the interview in MCA. But I can't remember the name sorry. She says so after the interviewer says that he did not like "Migrate".

New album, new look (58,899) by Malcolm from Asia
I wish Mariah would try some new hairstyle/haircut for the next era. I always imagine her in a short hair and I think it suits her and bring some youthfulness on her look. And when I saw this, it's definitely good, but this look is what I most looking forward for her. It will be surely a surprise for all the people, it will be talked about and I guess will introduce her to younger generation, all they (Team Mariah) need is right outfits and on-point style at any moment. I will say this, JLo has fabulous amount of followers on Instagram because of her on-point looks and selfies, if Mariah will do the same thing it will bring her some huge following most especially having that unparalleled artistry, we will definitely see her back at number one.

Side Effects is my favorite song for E=MC2. I think it's one of her best songs. I rank it with Butterfly, The Roof and Breakdown.

Vegas run (58,895) by Lee TS from USA
Do you guys think that perhaps February would be her last run for the Vegas gig? She has yet to announce any future dates and it has always felt very temporary to me. Like, right after Vegas she's jetting off for European domination. And say if she releases a really good comeback single in late spring or early summer, she'll be busy prepping for a new album. And there's all these other projects she's busy working on. Plus, I think Caesar's happy that Celine is back.

Re: Hello warning 10 weeks (58,891) (58,893) by TJ from Norway
I love the fact that Mariah has the record for most weeks at number one, but I don't see any problem if a good song dethrones her. That means she has to work hard for her career, as she did back in the 90's.

Mimi L, you're so spot on about "Side Effects". I can't say enough about that song. Actually, I think I talk about it a little too much, but it really is exceptional. So many great cuts on that album and, of course, they chose the wrong second single. Plus, all those promo spots she did on MTV for the album were amazing. Not to mention hilarious. Comedy is definitely her thing when she has good material. I still watch her and Snoop as Jack.

I think Justin's "Love Yourself" has already taken over Adele's "Hello" on the iTunes chart. So maybe it might dethrone Adele.

Re: Underrated songs with chart potentials (58,887) (58,890) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Mariah has given contradictory statements about Migrate though. In some interviews she has mentioned how she wanted it to be a single but the label wouldn't. But then in another interview she said something along the lines of "of course I wouldn't release Migrate as a single" when the interviewer said something about not liking the song so much. So it's not clear what happened with the single.

Re: Underrated songs with chart potentials (58,882) (58,888) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I will pick "Side Effects" that song is fire. Of course "Migrate" would probably shoot to #1, "I'm that Chick" would too. Lord knows I have written many posts blabbering over how those were huge missed opportunities, including most of E=MC2. But around that time a lot of songs were in the club banger genre but no one had a song like "Side Effects". It's such a personal song, and also it is like an anthem. I love it.

Re: Underrated songs with chart potentials (58,882) (58,887) by Tevin from USA
Mariah did talk about it twice, she said she wanted it to be (she even performed it quite a few times), but LA Reid and the record company said no and wanted to follow the uptempo then ballad formats that made TEOM a success. Only problem was Bye Bye was no We Belong Together, and stuff started tanking after that. Then Mariah got hitched and went MIA. As much as I love E=MC2 I hate it because that CD would have done better than TEOM if all the cards would have been done right. But hey if the CD was a huge success Mariah might not be doing Vegas residency now and I might not have heard her sing Someday live again.

Her songs don't make me cry (58,886) by Terna from Nigeria
What's with the emotional wreck of lambs in here bawling to just a few opening notes of her music? Mariah's songs don't make me cry, they uplift me even those which are seemingly sad songs so to speak. Whenever I'm in a bad mood or going through stuff I play her music. Something about her that helps you escape pain and takes you to a calm place. Not bawling and crying river.
