Re: Hello (57,513) (57,519) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
It's a nice song. To me it sounds like it could have been included on her last album. All I mean by that is that it's not a huge departure. She's given her audience what they enjoy of her music and vocal style.

Someone like Mariah (57,517) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
I can't believe that many people who stan for Adele are wasting their juice on a Mariah Carey board (in fact I doubt they really care about Adele). I personally think Adele's great, ever since Chasing Pavements way back when I've been a fan. But she's also no Mariah. Who do people think inspired Adele in the first place? And why does Mariah's voice get berated and her body shamed constantly by the same posters who "adore" Adele? The same Adele who is a beautiful plus size woman. The Adele whose voice is wonderful, though limited in range compared to MC, and who also has had serious careerending troubles with her whole voicebox starting from her last album era many years ago. We still don't know the extent of her recovery. But if anyone is calling for advise about music and vocal health/conditioning it's obviously Adele calling Mariah, if she's lucky. M is a PhD vocalist, it's only a matter of which university worthy of it's reputation will be the first to acknowledge that fact. It's a real pity people are just here heaping hyperbolic praise on Adele just to stick it to Mariah. Adele deserves better than to be treated as a blunt object against her own idol by posters like TJ. It's obvious the influence Mariah had had on Adele. From VOL/Vanishing to Cry/Camouflage, one of MC's album staples has always been vocally driven piano ballads with minimal production. Not to mention Mariah's songwriting and production skills that she fought very hard to gain that now Adele and other female singers take for granted, even if in name only.

Article: So, will Mariah Carey guest-star on Empire? (57,516) by Lee TS from USA
I don't mean to be rude but is Empire still a thing? Don't get me wrong I've seen the first season and thought it was cool. But at times it can get very cheesy and overly dramatic. Like, the ratings are declining and it seems the fans are a bit overwhelmed with the many guest stars. I don't know, I'm thinking by the time Mariah does her appearance it wouldn't be as hot anymore. But yeah, I hope they write her a good role that makes sense and Lee can bring the actress out in her.

I don't understand why people keep calling "Oz the Great and Powerful" a flop. The box office was $493.3 million. (The box office for "The Butler" was $176.6 million and for "Precious" it was $63.6 million.)

China (57,514) by Lee TS from USA
I hope Mariah is in a good place vocally and delivers a beautiful performance for the Chinese people. Don't lose face M. I hope she also gets to enjoy the trip and not let it just be a tour stop type of thing. You know, you always hear those musicians saying they travel far and wide but only sees the airport and hotels. Good luck M.

Re: Hello (57,504) (57,513) by darrian liu from taiwan
Cry is an amazing song. I love how the vocals are so raw yet restrained, but it's not single-ready. The Art Of Letting Go also had the same problem. The only thing that both songs need to be single-ready is a catchier, rousing chorus. Hello had a chorus that sticks to your head after a listen. Mariah hit the home run with Almost Home but it was stuck with a flop movie. I know Mariah has at least 3 more #1s in her, she just needs to continue to strive to be in tip-top condition. Another "The Art of Letting Go" is what she needs, just with a catchier chorus. She could get at least a top 40 hit with it, I'm sure with that.

Random thing (57,510) by Lee TS from USA
So I saw Bill Murray's new film Rock The Kasbah, I think that's the title, but his latest flick. Anyway, there's a tiny Mimi moment when Kate Hudson's character sported the same bikini M wore for MIAMTEC. And she looked good too.

That would have been me. That was amazing. He really took that song and did his own thing with it, and it is an incredibly hard song to sing. Wow. Thank you for posting it Luke.

Re: Adele (57,505) (57,508) by Mike from FL, USA
I totally agree in that most of Adele's songs all sound similar to me. Her voice and tone dont change much imo. Apparently I'm in the minority, as Adele just doesn't do much for me. She does have a beautiful voice, however I just never really feel a connection to her music/performances. Certainly not the same emotions I feel when listening to say Mariah or Whitney. I just think Adele is way overrated.

Never Forget You cover (57,507) by Luke from United Kingdom
People were talking about this song a few weeks ago (sorry I can't remember who) and it got me listening to it. While I was looking around I found this and it's amazing, kind of hard to believe he can sing a song this hard and sound good haha.

Re: Adele (57,505) (57,506) by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA
When I look at trends, I look at analytics of sales and how that translates into publicity and/or respect. Adele is doing what Mariah did in the 90s by letting her voice do the talking. Adele is unique in the aspect that her competition in the music industry doesn't have a unique voice or sound when they sing. Mariah could do the same but has made it clear she hates singing ballads all the time. That separates Adele from the rest because she reaches a broader audience of all ages. Mariah has taken alot of flack these last few years professionally. I just have this feeling that Epic Records, Sony, and Mariah Carey are on the same page and are super quiet. They know something we don't. Mariah is still the only contemporary music artist that can dominate contemporary music when she feels the need to do so. Her issue is she never sings ballads anymore, but what happens if she does? Game over. Poor promo and marketing has always been the issue with Mariah. Record execs know that now. Mariah is the only legendary artist, to me, that still can compete with her voice. Record execs polled for her recently and agreed she is the one they would help for a comeback. Enough said.

Re: Adele (57,497) (57,505) by May from Denmark
I'm with you on that. I do still hold my lit candle that Mariah could be successful again with a hit song but there's no doubt that Adele is still at her peak and that's the plus that helps her out for now, she is still "fresh". Like you said, I also like some of her music but at the end of the day, most sounds repetitive, her voice stays the same throughout, so I feel that apart from emotional lyrics and some sparingly vocal "momentum", I'm not being offered much else.

Hello (57,504) by May from Denmark
Everyone praises how simple is "Hello" by Adele, the piano and her voice, slowly building. It's almost as if those who do know Mariah's last album forgot "Cry.". Just a piano, just her voice without overproduction and some light chorus. Maybe "Meteorite" and YDKWTD should have waited until "Cry." and "Faded" saw the light first. I believe these are things Mariah will take into consideration for her next album. It's not like she isn't trying new things, "Meteorite" is clearly a sign of that. That's also a reason why I wasn't impressed to the core with "Infinity", after some amazing music she delivered in her last album, listening to that last single felt like it wasn't match to the big things she gave us.

Re: Adele (57,492) (57,503) by May from Denmark
I think Adele and Mariah promo cases are different though. Adele had a truly successful album with 21, her song "Rolling in the deep" was still being played a lot last year, it almost felt like Adele hasn't been absent these 4 years. Mariah's "Memoirs", while it did fine in the charts, wasn't a big hit, it didn't sell big, it wasn't really a hype and though I love some of the songs in it, I feel there was no truly strong song for everlasting (maybe BGK had some chance with a video). Mariah's choice (or team choice) of singles to promote for MIAM were the wrong order in my opinion, from YAM and YDKWTD (a really great tune fit for a summer jam). But after #Beautiful, the choice should have been "Faded". Mariah had the potential with her last album, without heavy promo, without the hype, it debuted third on Billboard. It's keeping it up which makes the difference but hers fell apart sadly, people didn't have the chance to hear gems like "Faded" or "Make it look good". For the Billboard 2015 live, and obviously this is just my opinion, instead of a medley of VOL/Infinity she should have chosen LTT from her first album, do a medley with Faded and finish it with a little part of Infinity. It would have sounded like the ultimate failed relationship song lol. While I understand the medley of VOL/Infinity, a bit of a surprise act in the day all eyes were in would have been amazing.

Adele (57,502) by Billy from England, UK
I was watching the video for Hello and thought it reminded me of Mariah's Almost Home. Well anyway I decided to comment of what I thought and got hate about Mariah saying she was a drinking old has been and I shall not leave Mariah comments on Adeles video. How cheeky are some people? No one will ever be as amazing as Mariah.

The vynil and Adele (57,499) by David F from Mexico
My sister who lives in LA, told me the Merry Christmas vynil is sold out at Amazon, where she usually buys and sends me the special MC cd's so I am gonna wait they can reload, I understand it is a limited edition, and it is still October, wow, good for Mariah but I wonder how many they made, and for Adele I think she stole a lot from Amy, only fact that [censored] but went [censored] since on Hello looks a [censored], Ariana career should be over after the donutgate, but whatever, looks like little Christina Aguilera, she is so funny so small but she tries to copy Mariah's formula.

I love Adele though she seems to sound the same in all her songs. But hers is a different case. It's only her third album. She's still at her peak. Even if Mariah follows Adele's footsteps, I doubt Mariah would be as successful. I do agree though that Mariah needs to do more ballads and make simple videos with a good storyline.

Re: Adele (57,492) (57,496) by darrian liu from taiwan
Hello is a wonderful song. And Adele is a gamechanger. If Mariah is not the one to bring back emotions and talent back to the top of the charts, Adele will be the one to do it. Hello's intro alone deserves a Grammy. Really clever to open the new era with "Hello, it's me" lyrics. Btw I heard that when there were rumors that Adele's 25 is gonna be released in September, almost every label changed their big albums' release dates.

Mariah, please take a seat while Adele takes your throne. This is how you do it. Though you do not have to prove yourself anymore, Adele gives us humbleness and vulnerability at the same time, and it seems like everyone can relate and is in love with her music.

Adele (57,492) by Will from England
I know this is an MC board but this can't be ignored lol. Adele released her new single with minimal fuss and bother and everyone is excited about it. The best part? It's a heartfelt ballad of MC proportions with huge belting vocals and memorable lyrics that got me crying/lip syncing along after the third listen. Nothing clever or fancy, no huge productions, no fuss, no drama or overconceptuatlised video. And everyone is talking about her after one day, and the album has not even been released. I know Mariah doesn't pay attention to current trends, but I hope she takes notes for her next album.
