Gow (56,739) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
New picture for the ad. I love it. I like that they kept her body fairly close to her current body so we won't get the photoshop backlash and they kept her face the way it was during the time the photo was taken. It has become smaller now but heck she looks great in any shape. Warrior-Riah is coming for you.

Thanks for sharing. I never noticed that part. That was one of my fav shows growing up and Mariah being my fav artist I can't believe that I didn't put that together.

Re: Petals (56,727) (56,737) by Philipp from Switzerland
Nicely written Andrew. I think you are right with every you said. IMO the part where she's singing "So many I considered closest to me, turned on a dime and sold me out dutifully" could be about Walter Afanasieff and his falling out with Mariah, when he chose to be on "Tommy Mottolas side" instead of hers. He said something like that once in an interview.

Random: the album Butterfly (56,735) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
So this past Monday I was rushing through a mall and suddenly I hear Ouside playing inside an Oasis store. That meant someone had probably played the whole album because it's such an obscure fan favorite. I didn't even have time to really take it in since I was in a hurry and kinda forgot all about it until just now. I need to track down the Lamb who is responsible for playing Butterfly in its anniversary week and seduce him/her into being my friend. I guess this is me manifesting my master plan. Yeah, Lamb-dencity is low in Sweden at least in my experience and to be fair I have fairly high personal standards for who passes. But I have faith in this Oasis person. Pretty random, ey?

Five questions for Mariah (56,734) by Manny from U.S.
1. Will you ever release audio of you singing as a little girl? (I think, she mentioned she only has audio, no videos.)
2. What do you look for when you are hiring a backup singer?
3. Would you rather write a book of your life or star in your own movie?
4. Now, that you're a mom, can you still get as much vocal rest as before?
5. Will you perform songs in Spanish, or other languages again?

You're Mine Eternal (56,733) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I was out shopping today, and was in a store playing a radio station. I had to smile when YME came on. This station was current, not one of those clear soft pop music stations. Nice to hear since the single and album get labelled a "flop" so much. I guess I'm an odd fan, I don't consider something a "flop" if it doesn't perform like MB or TEOM. I'm enjoying reading everyone's questions for Mariah.

Re: Mariah in Jimmy Fallon (56,721) (56,730) by Manny from U.S.
Thank you for posting this. I have never seen this interview. At the end, when Prince leaves the stage and the feedback is crazy, I thought Mariah was going to match the frequency and hit a high note.

5 Questions (56,729) by Will from England
1) You have achieved so much over the last "12" years, from making music history to acting to products to being a fantastic mother, what else is on the horizon for you?
2) When writing deep songs such as "Petals", "Looking In" and more recently "Camouflage", do you find yourself just stopping and saying "This is too deep, am I comfortable releasing such a personal song?" And has this stopped other songs from being put onto past albums?
3) Referring back to "Camouflage", with such a complex song vocally, how do you decide where to place an ad lib? Because when listening to the song through earphones, you can hear small whispers of ad libs in one or the other ear that are placed perfectly, and I'm intrigued to find out how this process occurs, and when you feel that the song is complete, in terms of these ad libs.
4) With a career that has experienced such great triumphs, naturally there will be some disappointments along the way. Aside from your soundtrack album, what would you say is the one disappointment that stands out. It could be from a single not doing as well as you had hoped to an album being mishandled.
5) The music industry is changing so rapidly in order to keep up with the internet (with streaming services from outside companies etc.), and the shift in interest from album sales to single-song digital sales and online views (YouTube/Vevo), what would you say is more important to highlight, in terms of judging the success of a "modern day music artist": the album sales or the single sales/online views (YouTube/Vevo)?
Bonus Question 1: And with that in mind, do you feel it is more difficult for both legendary artists, such as yourself, and newcomers to the industry to get their music heard, appreciated for what it is, and bought?
Bonus Question 2: Does music have less substance to it? As in, it's no longer about what the artist is saying, but more about the BPM and the addictiveness of the music?

Beverly Hills 90210 (56,728) by Billy from Greece
I was taking a walk back down memory lane watching some clips from "Beverly Hills 90210" (remember, 1990s kids?) and in the school's radio station (where David broadcasts from) there is a poster of the back cover of Mariah's debut album. Aw, sweet. Didn't even remember that.

Petals (56,727) by Andrew from UK
Randy, good honest questions. I like your question about Petals. I think about that song as a Mariah staple and think of it often. It's brilliantly understated and dangerously ignored in her catalogue as it reveals so much and suggested a deep desire for closure that obviously didn't transpire. "Dandelion" is the sister MC looked up to as a child only, in adulthood, to learn of her serious failings. "Lil sis and lil brother" are Mottola's children with whom she was close and understood the life they were living. Yet, she had to say goodbye to them when she left Mottola and, most heartbreaking about the song, felt guilty, and powerless to help them, had to leave. "Valentine" is surely about Mottola himself as it flows onto him after his children. "Missed a lot of life" can only be about the many years she spent in their house. "I know you really like to see me suffer, still I wish that you and I'd forgive each other" is quite heartbreakingly honest for Mariah to say that it was a two way street in that they weren't what either person wanted. And finally, "I really loved you" must surely be a plea to remember that they did once love each other and to let bygones be bygones. The whole song is emotionally open and I think the most honest lyric, metaphorical as it is, that she has ever written, with the melody and arrangement like a stream-of-consciousness written as a deeply sad, yet understated, apology. As if asking for an absolution as she had to leave all of them to live her own life. It's almost as if Mariah is singing to herself and not to the audience. I guess most people know all this, but, jokes and criticism aside, genius needs to be labelled as such. "Thunder precedes the sunlight."

Thank you Mandy. I've seriously been looking for that everywhere. That whole interview/segment was so great and so funny. Mariah looked gorgeous and was so fun. I forgot how much I loved that interview. And thank you Webmaster for the link to the champagne pong video. I'd seen that one, but I was also looking for the interview, which seems to have been taken down for some reason. Thanks lambs.

Haha Lee you might also want to add: "And also no 'I don't know her' because I have her CD right here and I will play it for you." Lol because you know if you tell her not to say "we love everybody" she will go for the legendary "I don't know her".

Out and about (56,718) by Lee TS from USA
Love seeing her out and about attending all these fun events. But this latest Bazaar ensemble is a no for me. Don't get me wrong it's a very pretty dress and beautiful necklace. I'm not asking for the moon and stars here but Wilfredo what are you doing? Mariah literally looks like a PTA mom and housewife attending some local charity ball. This whole look from the hair to the necklace even to the shoes either ages her or shows her age. Can't help it but looking at all the other girls at the event, they were sleek and fashion forward. Oh well, Mariah's still pretty though. I hope one day she finally decides to wear something that isn't black.

Mimi, a crude and tactless person is best ignored. When one tries hard to be cool and funny, most of the time he or she fails.

Harper's Bazaar (56,716) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So Mariah went to the HB event and she looked so good. I can't decide on whether I like the dress or not, but I have to say that she looks flawless in the pictures. Them boobies are out but it does not look bad here and look at that million dollar face. Mariah shining brighter than the diamonds around her neck. She looks so beautiful, I can't even.

Re: If you could interview MC and only ask 5 questions (56,697) (56,715) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Andrew, you get the chance of a lifetime to interview an artist you admire (or used to) and you will ask her questions that insult her or make fun of her? That's a little sad. I'd think that even if Mariah currently is not making the type of music you want, I would like to believe there was a time when she did, and given the chance to interview this person, is insulting her really the way to go?
