Mimi L / new era (55,654) by Marissa from USA I loved your post. You are so right. For the next era, not only the music and songwriting, but the promotion needs to well planned also. That's always the part that falls flat, but ultimately that determines how successful the material will be. I personally have let go of my desire for Mariah to get another #1. I don't care anymore. I have been through enough eras getting hyped for songs that had mediocre chart success at best. I'm over that. Now all I want is for her to have good press, stay humble and continue to make stellar music (hopefully she's get it together with the lackluster videos too). As far as her weight, I want her to be whatever weight she is because she chose to and would prefer to look that way, not because she just gave up or got lazy. That's all I will say on that. Dear Mariah (55,651) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I've said this before but I'll just say this again in the hopes that if Mariah's team reads this board, they will take this into consideration. Please don't jump into another era until you are sure that you can give it your all and by "your all" I don't mean that just the writing and singing but what comes before and after the making of the album too. The last few eras have been really messy and we can trace it back to 2009-10 with the "will she, will she not" release the remix album for Memoirs. Two remix videos released but not pushed. Bad single/video choices. We can even go back and say that the decline started from post TMB 2008 when Mariah eloped, but I'll leave that out since she did start trying again from the initial stages of Memoirs. Things went bad after L.A quickly left behind "Obsessed" instead of pushing it more. Since then (with the exception of MCIIY) we had one bad era after another. Each era getting the fans excited with hopes of the next chart topper only to leave them frustrated with delays, absurdly bad single choices (it's like they intentionally are leaving out singles the public are demanding) and extremely bad album/single roll out and promo plans. I won't even get into the disastrous videos. With 2015 we again went crazy with hope for "Infinity" which was apparently going to be the next WBT (not musically but success wise) at least that's what everyone thought when the hint was dropped with the two song titles side by side. But then we ended up with a bad roll out and a video that came over a month after the song and a song which although is good, it was never #1 material. Anyways, I just want to say other than "infinity" Mariah's new team has proven to be very competent and great at turning her image around so I hope she takes advantage of it. I just want to say please, please, please have all your ducks in a row before you announce your next project. If you need time, take it, but continuously taking up projects and dropping them when they don't succeed is going to only cause more harm. Just to clarify, Vegas is not in my list of projects that has gone wrong. I think Vegas did her a lot of good and improved her voice and confidence. I am writing this plea as a fan who loves you and adores you and wishes to see you back on the top of the charts where you belong. I need you to shut people up one more time. Christmas shows and number ones shows and not gettig into shape and all the other recent posts queries suggests she has decided. I said Vegas would be a disaster because she would lip and YouTube would highlight, which it has. But the press is ok. However there is nothing new or exciting and there is no sense of anything new or exciting to come. I agree with another post, sort of, that the remix should be of something new. However, she beats songs to death with remixes. I refer to my post a while back that she should take a long time out of she wants to keep going. Otherwise this is Cher and Farewell. If the fans know the situation they can get on board. Setting up for disappointment (a la MIAM) is disrespecting the few people left who care. (Monday 3 August 2015; 23:19)

I am even fine if the remix turns out to be French's track on which she is featured (since we were semi ready to wait for new music). As long as it's a new song, I'm fine with it. But still no more Christmas stuff (for me). I think having 2 successful Christmas albums with possibly the most famous modern classic of a Christmas song and earning (rightfully) the title of the queen of Christmas is enough to last for a lifetime. Let it not be rushed and released just because. I need more of an Angela Bassett moment and not a Wendy Williams joke. Like she wished, I hope there are powerful players in TV movie land to make this successful. But yeah, let it be festive and maybe even become a new classic. I hope she will stand her ground and give good direction, this is going to be her baby and her name. The critics and public will be ready to pounce and pan her. I hope she doesn't star in it but a cameo would be cute, like a Salvation Army woman ringing the bell in front of Macy's or a cashier selling Christmas decorations. Yes she can provide a song for a scene or even the theme song but that should be it, she needs to remain a director first and not wear too many hats. I hope she can get some big stars to appear in it, let's see what kind of pull Mariah has haha. Music videos (55,635) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Nowadays a music video is almost as important as the song itself. I think a lot of the bad songs do good on charts because the video goes viral and the streaming counts. I hope when M makes her next video, she takes note from her iconic videos and do something either big and fun (we all know she has a great sense of humor) like "Heartbreaker", "Honey" and "Touch My Body", or have a continuing story line like ILT and WBT combo. (Honey and HB also had a good storyline.) Or go artsy and simple yet sultry like "My All" where she can be sexy but not awkward like YME. No more videos like "Infinity" where there is no proper storyline (she looks gorgeous though but that's not enough for people to stream) and a waste of a potentially hilarious segment (with the 3 suitors). I think the key to avoid the awkward glamor shots and Mariah's favorite "touching the body" moves is to keep her busy in the shots with a storyline. Because in ILT/WBT there is a great balance between the "touching" and the story/choreography. YME is so heavy on the touching, there is basically no story, which is also sad because the location of that video was hot tamale. That video could have been a "My All" 2.0 had they laid down a storyline to go with the gorgeous locations and Mariah's gorgeousness in general. Another TMB like video would go viral because it's funny and sexy. Also I demand the return of Agent M. Get her a darn new mission so that we can get another iconic moment. Not a fan of either of these girls but... (55,634) by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago I find it very wacky and cool and wish that MC would do something like this again. The closest she came was with Jimmy Fallon and the Roots on AIWFCIY. Something like that alone now would be so cool and so welcome, with a female, Gaga or Katy perhaps since they've shown support. On a side note, I didn't know Miley's tone was that rich. I kinda like it and think she actually sounds better than the other girl. (Monday 3 August 2015; 1:40)
