#1 To Infinity is doing well (53,465) by Travon..SweetSweetFantasy from USA
Her album is exceeding my expectataions on both Amazon and iTunes. Since 1am #1 To Infinity has risen further. As of 8:35am Eastern, she currently sits at 29 (+21) on Amazon USA and 45 (+61) on iTunes USA. She is still doing extremely well in the UK since Saturday and has rosen to #13 (+35). Her performance, hate it or love, did wonders for her in mainstream. We still have Ellen and a performance on Jimmy Kimmel, so I expect it to rise even further.

I agree, as usual lol I enjoy reading your posts. We seem to think along the same lines. Without denying the obvious limitations in Mariah's voice, I think her biggest impediment nowadays is her confidence. Having been ripped to pieces after the AIWFCIY performance, it's no surprise she is hesitant. But I do believe she will get there eventually, slowly but surely. She seems to be in a very good place emotionally. I was surprised too that there were people in the audience singing along. I was also surprised by Jennifer Lopez, who seemed respectful and almost nostalgic to see Mariah up there. I'm still not very fond of her, but I'm beginning to respect her for the way she's handling her "relationship" with Mariah.

Even Mariah breathed a sigh of relief after that high note. Just look at her face post-high note, she's clearly thinking "nailed it, now I can relax". But I think it was a lovely performance, and an touching tribute to her 25 years of being in the business, and nicely encapsulated what her Vegas show is all about: from VOL to Infinity. That's it. As for some comments about her standing still. What's new? She's never been a great mover on stage. She leaves all the movement to her hand and vocal chords. Plus, she was on a high platform, and given what happened last time she was on a high platform, I doubt she would want to take the risk of losing her footing on live TV. Overall thoughts: a solid performance, a couple of shaky moments (the second "is more than just a made up dream" at the end, her breath control was out at that point, but a quick recovery), but a nice re-introduction to all the young people watching the show as to who Mariah Carey is, and why she should be respected.

"I know she's in thickums territory now." That is completely disrespectful, you should be ashamed that you speak about Mariah in such a manner, what type of person are you? Please send us over a picture of your rippling six pack when you're 46.

Mariah did good at the awards. As many have said it wasn't her best, but it wasn't her worst. I appreciate her singing VOL live. I was hoping that the Infinity performance would kind of help me like the song, but that didn't happen. I've never had to work so hard to like a Mariah song in 25 years. I don't even think the video will help this time around. Lol.

It wasn't Mariah's best performance. She seemed nervous and at times you couldn't hear her. But it did what it was supposed to. Infinity jumped up 800 spots on iTunes and Mariah had to trending tags on twitter. Hopefully it'll shoot up on the Billboard chart now.

Performance (53,458) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I will focus on the positives. First things first, her performance did what it was meant to do. It pulled "Infinity" from being at somewhere around 1100 on iTunes USA and place it into the top 200 in 40 minutes of her performance, it shot "#1 to Infinity" into the top 200 too. Not only that, it gave a huge boost upwards to WBT and "Greatest Hits" (WBT was used in the montage and was labelled song of the decade), so the main point of MC standing there was accomplished. Mariah was on worldwide twitter trends at number 2 (only "#BBMAs" was at number 1), for a long time whereas the much talked about "Bad Blood Video" wasn't even in the top ten. I thought the second ensemble was cute and in some of the shots she looks like 2009 Mariah. I will credit her for going live and so I will excuse the slight shakiness, she could have lipped it with a pre-recorded track completely. But she struggled and made an overall good impact. To my surprise a lot of people actually seemed to know the lyrics to "Infinity". I'll support Mariah, she has not performed on such a big event in a long time. She tried two hard songs and she nailed it. I think the shakiness came more from her being super nervous and scared rather than her inability to sing. She could have hit some notes higher than she did, but you can see in her face that she got nervous and decided not to. She looked terrified and I felt like giving her a hug, it must be difficult to go in front of such a huge audience knowing full well that all eyes were on her to tear her apart because the last performance of hers that anyone heard about was the Rockefeller one. I think as she starts doing more of these shows again, she'll regain her confidence and we might see a Grammy's 2006 moment again. Now let me give some bad moments: I wish MC would do a power walk across the stage (and that runway like thing between the audience) with a dress train flowing behind her while she sang "Infinity", so MC take note for next time. The black dress was not a good choice MC, I'm sorry but the Rita Ora picture dress was so sexy and even edgy. Fire the stylist. Next time, once you finish, give one of thoe Boss-woman expressions you used to give when you killed a performance. If you show you are confident (even though you are not), people will buy it. Overall, I am happy, we can't expect her to fix the damage done to her reputation in 1 performance, but she is getting there. She is rising. She is back.

Infinity video (53,457) by Lee TS from USA
From the sneak peek and knowing what she has filmed so far. I can already kinda guess how the video is going to go. From the closet, to the vanity, then onto the stage in front of a crowd. It's basically her getting ready for a show, look at the difference between the hair and eye makeup. Probably something like the show must go on even though you're gone. Beauty shots upon beauty shots in beauty lighting and loving herself more and more. I just hope it's a good video.

Billboard (53,456) by Lee TS from USA
I don't know how to feel about it, I wasn't in awe. It was just ok to me. I thought she started off well until she started belting in VOL but at least the last and big "all" sounded decent. And when Infinity came in it got a little messy I couldn't even hear her singing corny like fritos, kind of like when she sings TMB and the verses are lipped until she sings Caribbean sea. I thought the two gowns she wore were very pretty but it wasn't pretty on her. I'm sorry but they didn't flatter her body and it made her look even bigger. I know she's in thickums territory now but I know she's most confident when she's in great shape. I want her to look like the Infinity cover. Her stage presence was weak too, she wasn't commanding it and I felt like she kept looking down. I think JLo's face kinda expressed how I felt, very mixed. I wasn't even too bother when they pan the camera to JLo, at least she clapped unlike that fake lip Kylie Jenner. She looked so uninterested and was straight up rude not to applaud. That girl irks me and I hope her boyfriend goes to jail. Anyway, I knew M wouldn't sit in the audience but if she did, she would have been next to JLo and Britney. That would have definitely been a moment. Ummm, I thought it was cute when the background singers were punching in Infinity. That's all.

Although it was not her most impressive performance, I'm satisfied and relieved. Nice to see that Billboard puts Mariah at #6 in their list of 10 Best Performances. Press reviews are mixed but there's by far not as much negativity as there was not so long ago. I can't wait for the rest of this week.

BBMA's / Whitney vs. Mariah (53,451) by NYHotShotta from USA
I don't understand why people are comparing and contrasting Whitney and Mariah. They were power vocalists who sound better than most people on any given day. I think Mariah did fine on the BBMA's. I'm glad she didn't completely lip synch. The best part was the end of Infinity when she hit the high note and got a large cheer from the crowd. It's funny how they cut to that clip of J.Lo clapping. Her facial expression confused me.

BBMA performance (53,450) by Jono from USA
I'm proud of Mariah. All eyes were on her for her first televised performance since Rockefeller last year, and she was solid. Sure there were some shaky parts, but I think the positives far outweighed them. She sang it mostly live, something Generation Z has a hard time comprehending (you mean artists who are actually performing live won't sound like their record?) and was quick to point out the small flaws. Meanwhile you had Britney and Iggy lipsyncing to a "song" that literally has half an octave and spoken words in a rhythm. Anyway. Mariah is looking great, and she sounds leaps and bounds better compared to last Christmas. I love the artistic direction her performances have been taking lately, it really emphasizes how legendary she is. Sure it may "date" her or whatever, but someone of Mariah's caliber deserves to be treated like royalty. I wouldn't pay attention to the Twitter reactions, as it was surprisingly mixed, but keep in mind the younger generation dominates Twitter and they grew up with Taylor's and Katy's while we had Mariah, Whitney, and Celine. So I would take their "criticisms" with a grain of salt. It was so refreshing to see both her and Kelly Clarkson just simply stand there and sing. After all if you have that kind of talent, your voice does the talking. You don't need spectacle. Couldn't say that for many of the pop acts.

"The Oscars. Are you crazy? Whitney tried to oversing Mariah, did you see Mariah's face at the bridge? It was of total horror." I have watched the performance yet again, specifically the bridge, and still think this is complete nonsense. Mariah's role in the bridge both on the studio version and this performance was to harmonise whilst Whitney carried the melody. I see Mariah looking across at Whitney, but that seemed more to gauge her approach so Mariah knew how to sing her harmony. I also see MC smile when Whitney sings the "resilient voice" line. Hardly a look of "total horror". Sorry but Mariah was not outdone here. Their voices are totally different. Whitney's was very powerful and strong, whereas Mariah's is lighter but with a better range. That's why Whitney sings the lead melody and Mariah embellishes and adds flourishes around it. It's a perfect combination of their styles.

B on a Janet and Mariah collaboration (53,383) (53,448) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
"I would love a duet between Mariah and Janet. I'm not sure it will happen since Mariah is a very loyal person and her loyalties are to JD." Well, what if they were "forced" to? Didn't Jussie Smollet say he wanted both of them to guest star on Empire next season? Lee Daniels could totally "make them" work together. It could even work as a readymade storyline: art imitating life or life imitating art. Ironically, I can never know the difference of that saying. Also, Mariah and Janet have plenty of good will between them on their own, it would be a shameful waste. We love JD but if he's the only reason two living legends can't potentially break our TVs, radios, charts and the Internet? Just imagine: The Slayage Of LambNation 1814. Okay, let me stop before my feelings get hurt. B, why you put this in my heart? The devil's own.

BBMA performance (53,447) by Elena from The Netherlands
She did well, considering she suffers from bronchitis. Yet still, I don't think that she would've done more without it. I hoped she then would belt the "and it was all" part to really kick some butt there. My other criticism is that the performance is less energetic when she just stands there. She should hold the mic in her hand. At least with Infinity since that's more up-tempo. Overall, she's doing well and I'm glad that the world gets to see it and getting better reviews this time.

Tonight's BBMA (53,446) by JJ from Good Times from USA
Like most Mariah performances it started off not so good with her looking and sounding insecure (despite over 20 years of experience), but ended on a better note. Over all, I was actually liking on "that song" tonight. I still don't think it was a good single to put out, but Mimi sings it live very well. I always get nervous for her when she is about to perform on a national stage. Vision Of Love was choppy but my nerves cleared when I heard her more confidence when she started singing that "other song". I'm still going to go see her in Vegas, all them numbers ones still my favs.

Blame it on the... (53,443) by Matthew from USA
Well. That performance isn't going to silence the haters. She was sounding so great in the snippets of the Vegas shows I heard, so I wonder what happened at the BBA. It wasn't a disaster, but there were obvious lipped parts, and VOL wasn't as great as I know she can do it. But she had bronchitis, so I'll give her a pass. And she broke her hand, and she is going through a divorce, and the sound guy didn't get it right, and the label was giving her problems, and the weather was overcast and she was depressed and on and on. Anyway, I just need one stellar performance broadcast live to thousands just once this decade. If she can give me something stellar once per decade I'll be happy.

BBMA performance (53,442) by juan from Dubai
I am hurt. I believe in Mimi's voice but sick or not rested, she should have shown the world who she really is when she needs to. She needs to listen to people, not just lambs' opinions. Otherwise, she should stop. She needs to train with Celine (who has a personal vocal coach on all of her shows), and learn some legit dance moves with legit choreographers. BBMA performance was hideous. I am disappointed.

I gotta give it to MC. That's how you perform when you've lost your voice. No one knows whether you were singing or not because there are so many voices in the background between your singers and you and your prerecorded track lol. I think she sang 75% of it live. Notice there was a break between the full voice belt and the false note but her mouth was still open, yet only I would nitpick. To the general public she sounded aamzing and I guess that's all that mattered.
