I like the song and it's growing on me more and more. Expectations were high, especially after all the buzz about the single. I think it's cute. I don't know whether cute will cut it though. I guess I was hoping for more of a classic, old-school feel with real instrumentation (not just the violins) and a more straightforward structual approach. I'm afraid this song is going to sound outdated in a few years. I think it's better to focus on making classic stuff, something that will stand the test of time, not try to be overly trendy and write such kitchy lyrics. Mariah has shown us that she can have that old-school vibe and still have hits, like on TEOM. But I guess it's good that this song sounds current because a younger crowd will like it more. Structually it's somewhat all over the place, kinda like TAOLG. I like the verses but I'm not crazy about the chorus, especially if you compare it to her recent work that is similar to Infinity, like Make It Look Good that had a killer chorus. Actually, if TAOLG and MILG had a baby, it would be Infinity. I think the songs on MIAMTEC were stronger melodically, lyrically and vocally compared to Infinity. Now I'm even more bummed that the album didn't get a chance. If it was coming out now on Epic, it could have been just that. Remains to be seen whether the single will blow up. I hope so. The video is still coming, looking forward to it. I don't think this is number 1 material but for what it is I'm happy with it. (Monday 27 April 2015; 18:28)
Infinity (52,389)
by Lee from UK
Perhaps it's because I'm English but I really dislike the way Mariah never pronounces the "t" in the word infinity. As a result the whole song is ruined for me and should have been called "Infinidy". More than that though, there is no hook to the song. Mariah will never pull this off live as the verses are too quick and we all know she struggles with that live. This song has album filler written all over it. (Monday 27 April 2015; 18:26)
Infinity (52,388)

I'm scared that I will be disappointed after reading some of your reactions to the song, but surprisingly, the song is a grower and I really like it now. Someone said that the intro sounded like "Honeymoon avenue" by Ariana Grande so I was a bit. There's a resemblance in the few seconds of the intro. (Monday 27 April 2015; 18:24)
Infinity and beyond (52,387)
by Manny from U.S.
When I first heard the title of infinity, I loved it. I am a math teacher and that abstract concept has always made me ponder. When I actually heard the song, the strings part totally caught my attention. It has an element of dreamlike or trance. Mariah uses different connotations of that infinity. When she says "there's an end to infinity", that's the mathematical meaning of infinity, the one that theoretically we can count up to. When Mariah sings "infinity lovin' more and more", to me, I see her equating infinity to the universe, the ether of what has been, is and will be. It is the chi that flows through all of us. When you break up with someone, we forget how many paths our lives can take us. I'm thinking back of past breakups where I felt stagnant. I realize where infinity or the universe has taken me after. The heartbreak made me stronger and I grew as a person. I see "Infinity" as a song of empowerment, faith, and resilience. To me it's genius what she did. Mariah used different metaphors and she is basically saying FY to Nick. My favorite lyrics are "Everything you own boy you still owe." (Monday 27 April 2015; 18:24)

Mariah's voice doesn't sound processed or auto tuned. Her voice sounds clear. Her voice is on point. She's obviously been seeing a vocal coach and is or has retrained her instrument. Mariah Carey is a genius lyricist. Roger was right, the lyric is clever and catchy. I don't understand why some of you don't like this song, I love it. I don't usually rush to judge a song after only listening to it once or twice and suggest those of you who hate it or don't like it take another listen to this lyrical and vocal masterpiece. I could understand these complaints if this song was as bad as Triumphant or any of the songs on MOAIA but it's not. It trumps Love Story, that song was a poor attempt to recreate WBT and it was an epic fail. (Monday 27 April 2015; 18:21)
Previous message (52,385)

Oops. The random "me" that appeared in that message was from the remains of what I was going to say about the phone, but I prefer to read short messages so cut it down, obviously not enough lol. (Monday 27 April 2015; 18:16)
Nick Cannon (52,384)
by Dove from USA
I doubt this song would upset him. It's free promo and he loves attention. It's like when Gwen Stefani wrote those songs about the bass player from No Doubt. MC is not really saying anything terrible about him that he hasn't already said about himself in his comedy. (Monday 27 April 2015; 18:12)
New song and Migrate (52,383)
by Ryan from USA
I really enjoy the new song. It is reminiscent of a Mariah song from the 90's which basically all of the songs on the #1's are from the 90's so it makes sense. Also, just to play Devil's Advocate but I am not a fan of Migrate. Everyone says it was a missed opportunity but I really think it was a smart move not to release it based on the other songs that were released from that album. It is one of the songs that I usually skip over. From what I remember she sang it live on SNL and it was far from great so a good move to have her not perform that horribly each time. It's not really a song that is meant to be sung live though. See you in Vegas Mariah on 05/23/15. (Monday 27 April 2015; 18:08)

Since they were using clips from Honey, would it be a stretch to think this would be the part 2 to that video? (Monday 27 April 2015; 17:51)
Infinity (52,381)
by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I'm not feeling the song at all. I think it's noisy and it has no melody. If this song charts, it's because of the lyrics. But is Mariah that popular these days that she can have a hit based on her rant about her last relationship? Well, I guess we have to wait another week to know. (Monday 27 April 2015; 17:47)

Video idea (52,379)

The video would shoot Mariah Carey throwing her ex's stuff, somehow like Beyonce Irreplacable. But the love interest would be no one else but Nick Canon himself. Lol. (Monday 27 April 2015; 17:37)
Infinity (52,378)
by Jono from USA
I have to be completely honest here, it's not my favorite. To be clear, this would sound great on a new album, but certainly not as a single next to her #1s. I love that Mariah has such amazing musicality, it's not easy to write the melodies that she does. However this song was just too much, and I think if they stripped it back it would have made it better. There is just so much going on in this song. What it has going on right now are the lyrical disses, but they're fresh so of course it's exciting. What makes a song last is how good it is musically, and to me the production doesn't have the same impact. It's disappointing to be honest. I like to think I have a good sense of what will be a hit on the charts, and this song hasn't given me that feeling even on the 10th listen. Migrate and YDKWTD most definitely did, and were big opportunities missed. This doesn't fit on to radio because it's way too complicated. Of course who knows, Mariah could drop some killer remixes to Infinity and I'll be eating my words lol. (Monday 27 April 2015; 17:34)

Infinity (52,376)
by Dove from USA
I love the part where she sings "to infinity" because it's full of hope. Sometimes at the end of a relationship, we think our life is over, but in reality it's a new beginning full of infinite possibilities. After the grief there's nowhere else to go but up. To infinity. This is so much better than I could have ever hoped. (Monday 27 April 2015; 17:25)
Infinity cover (52,375)
by Kate from UK
I like the chorus, but I don't think the verses matched it. Not a fan of the lyric video at all. I really hope the music video has no awful animations like it, looks very rushed. Look at the phone in the video, the phone owner is called "ex" yet the person they're sending the message to is called "ex" "me". The whole thing is the wrong way around too. (Monday 27 April 2015; 17:25)
Love Infinity (52,374)
by Malcolm from Asia
I understand those who don't like that much the Infinity because even myself is expecting like a WBT-ish or DFAU-ish style of music. But I realize that it doesn't matter anyway because the song is really good, we are acting like this because we are not used to Mariah releasing that kind of music and she is in her 40s so she will not sound like she used to before but she can still really sing, it is just the tone of her voice is not like in the past years. We must face the fact that this is the reality right now, people wants older artist to have a younger-friendly and catchy sound to relate it to them. And as what I have seen today, MC really charting again and I'm so thrilled by that and I think Epic has more plans for Mariah's next full length album. I believe this song is just a warm-up for all of us and we can expect more from MC as long as she is in the right team. (Monday 27 April 2015; 17:08)
Clearer thoughts on Infinity (52,373)
by Marissa from USA
The release of Infinity is really making me mourn for all of the genius songs on MIAMTEC. Imagine if Meteorite or #Beautiful would have been released today. I would have had way more faith in her snagging another #1. I would have even had more faith in "Money" being a #1 before this song. Overall I would say right promotion, wrong material. (Monday 27 April 2015; 17:01)
Thoughts on Infinity (52,372)
by Dove from USA
I do try to find the silver lining, even when things look bleak, but this song is actually amazing. I didn't like TMB or YM(E) for a single. I don't like everything MC does. I absolutely love this song. It speaks to people who are heartbroken and can't get out of it. It's empowering and telling these people to get the f*ck up and take their power back. A lot of times we give our partner all this power over us and usually we're the one-up anyway. They act like they're the one doing us the favor by being with us. We try to be friendly and give second chances but we shouldn't. Close the door, bolt it, turn around, and don't look back. I love the authority in her tone and the tiny violin at the end. So many people stuck in heartbreak will relate to this. I feel empowered already. I can feel it in my being, this song is going to be huge. If you can't spend $1.29 to support your favorite artist, even if you don't love the song, you're no fan. And the lyrics are funny. We need to stop being funny when we get older now? (Monday 27 April 2015; 17:00)
Guys it's a grower (52,371)
by Lee TS from USA
But for me it was a show-er from the start. Upon first listen I just got this "epic" feeling with the music, it was so hard and packed with the punches. Although it's a fun song with some silly lyrics I heard the heartbreak in her voice. She's just going off in the chorus and in the end, it gave me a very "I Will Survive" type of feels that the outlook is not so bleak. I do agree I couldn't understand the first verse but the girl is rapping haha. I love when the French line starts too, I seriously thought she was singing about CoCo Puffs. My favorites are the chorus and the bells/chimes it's quintessential Mariah. (Monday 27 April 2015; 16:56)

Uggh after removing the accompanying link from my post, it seems weird because it seems vague as to what I was meaning. Basically I meant that even TMZ is now coming around for Mariah. I love it. I was so nervous before the first listen as I usually am when when she brings out new music. I always check people's reactions before listening so in case my standards are too high I'm not gonna be really dissapointed. I was thinking please let me like it so I listened and as soon as the beat dropped with the "ooh aah's" I was happy. I don't think it's gonna be number one and I don't really care, all I care is that I like it. Lets chill with the chasing the charts and the 19th number one. It's like we got 18 legendary singles plus another hundred amazing songs from her over the years. I'm just happy that I still enjoy her music like I did with the last album. I can remember feeling underwhelmed by "You're Mine" and "TOALG" so I know that feeling some may feel. I'd like a number one as much as the next person but at this point I don't feel like its a big deal. "MIAMTEC" flopped so bad but I could barely care because I was to busy enjoying the amazing songs it gave me. (Monday 27 April 2015; 16:47)

I like the new track (don't love it). There's no way will this be her 19th no 1. I can't even see UK radio playing it. I could be wrong and I hope I am but I doubt it. (Monday 27 April 2015; 16:34)

by Giselle #1 Mariah Critic from USA
I like it, my only problem with it, it doesn't sound finished. Like a rough cut. The song reminds me of TMB and Obsessed where first two listenings I didn't really get into. But I like it, I bought the single. The one thing, I'm very sick and tired of is the media and its obsession with the name "Mariah Carey". I really hope Mariah and her new team and label try and change people's perceptions of her. I would never want to be her, it must be nerve wrecking with every single and album release because if it's not a success it's a global economic crisis lol literally. Celine Dion could release a brand new album tomorrow worldwide and if it flops nobody would care. But Mariah would be put through the burning fire for it. Mary J. Bilge album flopped and the soundtrack not one word. JLo all that promo she didn't make even not one word. Infinity is already top 30 on iTunes US. I hope so does atleast well on the Hot 100.
