Great songs (48,959) by B from USA Mariah Carey needs to continue to write smart, poetic mature lyrics like she did for MIAMTEC and TEOM. I have been reading a lot of articles about MIAMTEC and the question most people ask is, is she still writing lyrics that sound like a little girls diary entry? That was my main problem with Memoirs and Love Story and the other JD ballads except For The Record and Thanx 4 Nothin' from E=MC2. All she needs is a great song and she can easily rebound from this minor misstep. She needs a manager like Benny. She needs to assemble a team like her team from the 90's or 2005. 25 y.o. (48,958) by Otti from Belgium The other night I was reading the Wiki article about the album Number Ones. And I was thinking how the music industry has changed for the worst. Back then, it was easy for an artist to connect with the fans with just an album. Now with social media and the internet everything has changed. Now for Mariah to celebrate the 25 years in the music industry with an album is not easy, since no one is buying cds. This generation is not waiting for an album, with for an example a booklet with stories behind the song or pictures like back then. How I miss that time. I got nice memories with the number ones album. You had all the number ones plus some new covers. Nowadays if people want to hear an old song, they go to YouTube, that's why Mariah videos still making more and more views. I don't have no idea if it's good or not to celebrate with an album. Back then for me, I had no internet at home, having the number ones album was a good manner to hear her other hits. If Mariah can have another number one, then releasing a new album with number ones, so that this generation can listen to the older music. That would be great. It worked for me back then. LC (48,957) by Abraham from USA You're right, I agree. Mariah is too big and legendary to do Vegas. She still has more to offer in the music business. Celine Dion fits Vegas well because let's face it, she doesn't have the star quality, succes or talent(song writing) like Mariah does. She's only really been big with the "Let's talk about love" album. I listened to her latest which is "Loved me back to life" and I think it's a great album, but it went no where. Where as an album from Mariah can, and would be a lot more successful and honored. Critics gave "MIAM" good reviews. So just think with an even better album, they would maybe praise her. Dubbing / re-singing (48,955) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada This discussion always fascinates me because it has been a part of the music industry for so long. To me, the artist is still doing the work even when there is editing involved. It is still their voice, it's still them doing the vocals. I mean, I get that some editing is smoother than other editing, but generally speaking, dubbing won't ruin a dvd or tv special for me. (Sunday 4 January 2015; 2:16)

Mariah at The Beacon (48,954) by Anthony Carey from U.K Well guys, I had the privilege to see Mariah twice at her Christmas show and it was definitely worth the flight from the UK to hear and see such beauty. I have to say she sounded amazing and I have seen some people state she wasn't completely live etc etc. You know what, who cares? I paid to see Mariah Carey end of, what she does is up to her as long as she shows up I'm happy. I wanted to ask any thoughts on a Christmas show this December as she stated on FB "I can't wait to do it again next year". So should I be getting prepared? Las Vegas show would be a dream come true for me as I love going to see shows there so to be able to fly out and see Mariah then yes I am all for it. Traveling Mariah (48,953) by nikki from usa I'm not sure if the moblie home thing is true or not. Mariah's headlining the Jazz festival and has an "annual" Christmas stunt in NY, so I don't see Mariah putting in any full residency anywhere. What if the other buzz is true? Atlanta residency and Vegas? Could she be traveling around with the kids in this big ass mobile home because she's going to be spending a few months in different "residencies" around the nation? Is this a sneaky way of getting a Chanteuse tour without actually having one? Take a road trip with the kids. Get your music heard. Do an ingenious foolproof "tour" that's a guaranteed success. That's some creative multitasking. Your label won't promote you, much less a tour. The music climate sucks right now. But, a "residency" will promote for you and have people coming from all over to see you. Mariah, you sneaky little devil you. (Sunday 4 January 2015; 2:04)

That would be a concise and relevant summary of her career to date. Not many artists can put out a #1's record and then have to update it several years later. #MC25 (48,949) by Keagon michael from USA I would love to see her use her own money to release some quality official music videos for 2 songs off Me I Am... because us fans deserve that despite sales. Sales does not define an album. Second a new "Greatest hits 2.0" featuring hits from 2001-2014. This is long over due from Island Records. Vegas / MC25 (48,948) by LC from USA I don't know about you guys, but I think Mariah is still too relevant to do Vegas. Her name still carries a lot of weight in the industry with #Beautiful becoming platinum, being the highest paid TV judge in history, selling out stadiums overseas, MIAM selling nearly 300,000 copies worldwide with no promo, in a dying industry, and AIWFCIY selling and charting every year. Also, her divorce was among the most talked about topics on the Internet in 2014, being the top trending topic on Facebook for 48 hours when the rumors first surfaced. And of course, the Rockefeller performance. Going to Vegas would be Mariah willingly falling into irrelevancy with Celine Dion and Shania Twain. Mariah is better than that. Despite what some "fans" would say, Mariah still has an incredible voice and she is still a force to be reckoned with. Something tells me that this 25th anniversary will be special. Mariah's already losing a lot of weight (something she seems to do before every era) and like the Charmbracelet tour, she used TECS and the Christmas shows to clearly strengthen her voice and create buzz. Also a third disc featuring songs that were written for all studio albums that never made the final cut. This to me would be a great way of saying thank you to her fans. The next move (48,943) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter I vote "No" for the ideas that she should go to Vegas or that she should re-release the first album or release new versions of the old song. Mariah already has two consecutive commercially flop albums under her name now (note: the albums are amazing, but they just didn't manage to sell). A third flop would ruin Mariah for good. She really needs to chalk out her A game right about now. Many will now say "oh I don't care about hits anymore blah blah" and that's your personal opinion, but to me, it's important that should Mariah retire, she should leave on a high note, with a massive hit. For that, she needs to come out of her comfort zone and work with the hottest producers now and really collaborate with some of the popular artists now. Not saying she should give up the classic Mariah touch, but it doesn't hurt to try out new things, and we know if anyone can do it, it's MC. She should shock people by collaborating with a current female artist, do amazing videos like she used to, and promote the single/album like it's no tomorrow. I would also really want Mariah to change up her style. She looks great in just about anything so why limit herself? She can pull off the "Jeans and Tee" look, do a cute skirt moment, slip into a pant suit and what not. Come on Mariah, it's time you show the people what a powerhouse you really are. I nearly changed mine to something else, but I've had ABMB for so long it would feel odd lol. As for songs I'd love Mariah to cover, there are only a couple. The main one is Reasons by Minnie Riperton, not many know it as her most famous song is Loving You, but Reasons is amazing and has the best use of her upper register. I'd love to see what Mariah would do with it. I'd also like to see her cover The Impossible Dream and Amazing Grace. (Saturday 3 January 2015; 18:59)

Dubbing (48,940) by Lee from UK Here is an example of a performance that can be called "dubbed". This hasn't been sang live twice choosing the best bits. It has been sang once and then new and better parts added in a studio at a later date after Mariah has listened to it and decided she didn't like certain notes she hit (or didn't hit) In this version you can clearly hear where parts were dubbed over with the new vocals. It is an almost isolated track but it's not which makes it great for spotting when the dubbing has occurred. (Saturday 3 January 2015; 18:05)

Mariah's fashion choices (48,939) by Mikey from USA Have you guys noticed that when she gains some weight she wears almost exclusively ball gowns and such? When she looses the weight she's definitely more daring with her fashion choices. I actually like her in jeans and pants a whole lot at any size and wish she mixed it up a little. DVD's question / to Nikki from the USA (48,938) by Angelo from Italy Ok, I see you point, and I know, Proctor's and MSG nights were totally live from her, what I'm saying is that the DVD's maybe included some resung "in studio" touches and I don't like those moves. In the DVD, Forever is the album version, maybe because that was the promo music video at the time in the USA, but hey, I can say it's different for Adventures DVD. In fact, I think that DVD is full of "studio touching" and/or lipsync from that night. I mean, "I wish you knew" is totally fake, even the last part of ABMB and WBT when she turns and turns on the finale, is impossible to reach that note and turning around like that way. C'mon, it clearly is fake, and I'm very sorry for that, because now I wan to sell that dvd, because I hate it. So, here's the thing: 1. Proctor concert DVD: nice, with intermissions, but full concert, in order setlist, and with no "post studio touching". Good. 2. MSG DVD: totally live, except "Forever", and the concert is badly cut, too many intermissions, dress changing crazy with order setlist. Not good. 3. Adventures: full of lipsync and "post studio touching", entire concert with no intermissions (perfect.), but for me it's fake so not good. (Saturday 3 January 2015; 14:52)

Reducing Mariah (48,936) by QueenLambassador from Portugal I don't understand why some suggest Mariah Carey should just bet on the Christmas shows and stop making albums because her days to produce hits are over. Don't get me wrong, she owns Christmas, it's a fact, but to reduce her to that is like mocking her legacy completly. Her Christmas music Is phenomenal but that isn't the music genre that made her great. Mariah should regroup, sort out whatever and come back with an album as good as MIAM. Mariah in Vegas (48,935) by nikki from usa I'm thinking "no" to putting MC out to pasture in Vegas. However, if this is temporary and just for a few months kind of thing than yes. It would help her voice and prompt her creativity. She's going through a breakup so the fan love would help. It would be a perfect platform to test out new material especially if it is in a new direction for her. Before MC's debut Mottola had Mariah sing her material in clubs to test it out on the public. Using a worldwide traveling destination like Vegas to test out new material would let her know what music she has the best future with. She'd make a crap load of money in the process too. Re: Angelo and the undubbed (48,934) by nikki from usa From your context I'm beginning to wonder what you mean by "dubbing". Mariah sings entirely live, but she sings the song at least twice. One is chosen for the video and has some added on notes from the other performance just sung moments ago. There is no playback or re-singing. This performance, for example, was done 3 times because the drummer screwed up. Dubbing isn't a Mariah thing, it's an industry thing and done on virtually every artist's videos to make the most "epic" performances. This is live, all takes, for Vision Of Love from MSG.
