Missy Elliot (104,900) by Zachariah from Croatia
Dated production? I think production was the best on that song.

Hmmm. Babydoll was a bit of snoozefest to be honest, with Mariah mumbling all the way through and the dated production. I'd rather she ditch the collabs and focus on constructing melodic, captivating songs like she did in the glory days.

JLo Hummingbird = Butterfly (104,898) by Bobby A from United States
Just creepy. Did you know that she performed "Do You Know Where You Are Going To" on her 2003 Let's Get Loud concert DVD release? I wonder if Tommy gave her some Mariah notes in 2001 to refer to.

[Webmaster: It was a bonustrack on her album On the 6 from 1999.]

Lopez is as mundane as they come. But Mariah risks retaking the mundane crown should she listen to the lambs who are in favour of her working with The Dreary once more and releasing soporific songs like Ribbon. You have to worry about some people for they know not what they do. Or they simply haven't got a clue.

JLo Hummingbird = Butterfly (104,896) by "MariahHater" from Hell
I know that Mariah is working every year. Her presence is always felt all throughout the months but if she will release 1 more album, I hope that she ups the standard to the legend she is. Not some mediocre rollout - release then let it be flushed down the toilet. I think it's not criminally wrong to hope for your favorite artist to have a well prepared art delivered and celebrated. I miss the time where I don't need to explain why I am a fan. Her persona is bigger than the art lately.

In response to JLo. Not ever a fan but at least she has the guts to extend her creative prowess on this venture. Pop or flop, still looks promising despite her sounding hyper autotuned and dated on the new release.

That would be great. Missy is such an amazing producer and it will be very cool if they collaborate again.

I would like if Mariah could have Britney as a guest on one song. Like a fun clubbing song.

Her album roll out is such a carbon copy of Butterfly it's uncanny. Now she's adopting a hummingbird motif on her album and in her vinyl and album covers posing the same way MC did with hair and lighting like the epic Butterfly cover. She definitely has been studying MC and is doing the most. Unfortunately all she could hope for is emulating the looks because her music is grating.

Yup. The remix that was supposed to be on Angels Advocate. Featuring The Dream and Ludacris. Which reminds me I would love for Mariah to work with The Dream again.

Do you think we may get another Missy Elliot collaboration on the new album? I would love to hear want these two brillant songwriters come up with in 2024.

You are henceforth to be known as Miss Stacey. And I shall put a dollar in the swear jar every time I write it. However, I don't have any American dollars. Send me some? Couple of thousand should cover it.

Whaddya want? Comments about rainbows, butterflies and unicorns? Though it would be far easier for me to capitulate and do that, I insist on you taking the road less travelled (certainly for a member of this board) and get a sense of humour. And can't nobody tell me that Americans don't have senses of humour (see: Stacey and Eddie). But daydream is all that I can do.

They Call the Wind Mariah (104,887) by Bill from the UK
A jazz album has long been on my wants list. It should be a mixture of the old classic torch songs, plus some Mariah-penned originals. I'd also include studio versions of Don't Explain, Lullaby of Birdland, Nevertheless, and the original The Wind from Emotions.

And on that note, I'd propose the title to be "They Call the Wind Mariah".

Okay, I was hoping it was live. From the video on YouTube I couldn't tell. Anyway I still think it's time for jazz. We have three Christmas albums plus the animated movie CD, why not a jazz album?

I swear, I would be a billionaire if I were paid a dollar for how many times people have bought up my profession, as if because I teach school that determines everything in my life. Dude, it's my job. That's it.

Great post Mimi. I love Memoirs too. Memoirs might have performed better if it was released in October or November with H.A.T.E.U. released on the same day. IWTKWLI was the wrong second single for the U.S. The whole album rollout was rushed after the original release date was pushed back to Srptember 29th.

Mariah does put things in the "I don't know her category" when it doesn't perform well but it remains one of my favorite albums had a lot of hit worthy songs of the roll out was good.

Right. She is testing our reaction for an original jazz composition. I hope MC16 is her most surprising and critically acclaimed album ever. I know she is listening to the Lambs this time around. It has been 5 years too long since Caution dropped.

Memoirs is gonna have its 15th anniversary this year and wow time flies. Might be an unpopular opinion but I love Memoirs through and through. It's a shame the album wasn't a huge success. It had so many amazing songs. Some of which were so different from Mariah's usual sound. UOOMF with Nicki should have been a hit, they both killed it on the song. Obsessed was so fun and fresh. I love the ballads. "More than just friends" should have been released as a single and same for BGK. I love "Ribbon" too and its unreleased remix. "Inseparable" was a cute moment too. Basically I think it's one of those albums where I would have the least of any skips. I also wish the "H.A.T.E.U" remix was released properly and the general public knew about it. Anyways wanted to show my love for Memoirs a great album which unfortunately fell through the cracks.
