Breakdown by Mariah ft Bone Thugs n Harmony (42,190)
by andy from philippines
| |
|
|
Mariah should do a song as genius as Breakdown from Butterfly album. The lyrics of that song has too much pain and very deep that anyone can relate too. For me that was the best lyrics on Mariah's songwriting career. Also the beat and production is perfectly done. The music video of Breakdown is the prettiest Mariah I've ever seen. So sad that Beakdown didn't chart because of Mariah's conflict with her label.

You're Mine is climbing the Adult R&B Songs and Rhythmic Songs charts. You're Mine (Eternal) is an R&B song and it's a great R&B song. It's better than Drunk In Love by Bey or any other song on the radio. Kelly Price is a bitter witch with a capital B. Ms. Grande doesn't write or produce. She's not the new or next MC.

Stop torturing yourself (42,188)
by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
| |
|
|
Simple solution: unfollow her on Facebook and Twitter, stop logging on to her fansites, hell it should be easy to not listen to her new music since radio doesn't play it anymore , stop watching her interviews. Instead of crying and hoping MC retires, no one's forcing you to still be a fan. Stop torturing yourself. Sorry I had to. Oh and I appreciate that censorship webmaster, I can't imagine the level of "trollism" we'd have to endure otherwise. Thanks for using your better judgement.

Are you for real? Your message was not reasonable at all, and I do understand why the webmaster cencored it. I'm not even going to go into detail because these kind off posts is what I meant in my last message here about some being downright disrespectful about the woman we all love and call our idol. For the record, what has language got to do with anything? I'm Dutch, live in Germany and understand English like every other person here just as much as the webmaster.

No need to post this response but just for your edification, I reviewed the post which you modified "censored" and nowhere did I call her "insane". That is your word, certainly not mine. You must have very little regard for your members if you feel so compelled to mislead them like that. My post was quite reasonable and in no way offensive. Why don't you man up and post it, let your members decide. [Webmaster: Here are the parts of Blake's original messages that I've censored: "Mariah when she's sober, sane, and present can out sing anyone on the radio. If Mariah chooses to not get sober and make responsible lifestyle choices like taking care of the instrument which got her to where she is, then she should just retire and raise her children in a healthy environment. Hopefully Mariah will quietly retire and not torture us with more tasteless selfies and bad music since most of us would rather remember her for the legendary talent we enjoyed and celebrated in the 90s." If you write "Mariah when she's sober, sane", you imply that she's sometimes drunk and insane. And which fan hopes that Mariah will "quietly retire and not torture us with more tasteless selfies and bad music"?]

Lambily (42,185)

I really hope that some of the rules the webmaster made for the messageboard will get applied more strictly like he said he would. I visit this website a few times a week but the tone of the messages got so negative that I just didn't want to log in anymore. I have no problem reading different sides of the subjects that are being discussed; I do however have a problem when it's not giving a little criticism but really disrespecting the person we all love. That some say why are certain people still a fan/lamb when they are downright disrespectful in every message that's posted is to be understood, nobody needs to be delusional or talk like everything is fine and dandy. But to go and spew your negativity for the person you call your idol is far from the way to go as well. I really hope we can get back to a place where we respect each other as much as we respect our idol, where we can say we agree to disagree and move on.

Finally (42,184)

I read this page on every day basis and I write from time to time but for the past week or two I started to ask myself does this page has a webmaster or someone to make an order amongst this offensive posts that I was reading. I am happy to see that there is. As a fan from day one I totally get Mariah's essence and I get all of her actions because I believe that every Mariah fan can relate to her through her music, pain when she was younger and strength when she got older (especially in the Butterfly era) and I don't get surprised when she does or doesn't do something that others may feel awkward because I get it. And that's something that makes me happy. I have to say that I like You're Mine now, it grows slowly but I like it.

Censorship (42,183)
by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
| |
|
|
Blake seems to have forgotten that this is a Mariah Carey fansite, so when he started insulting Mariah (calling her insane etc), no wonder his message got censored. Maybe in the past I neglected some of my own rules, but from now on I will apply them strictly. The same with calling other fans names. We are all fans of Mariah and although we might disagree about certain things (songs, the way Mariah promotes her songs or the way she looks), we still all love Mariah (at least I hope you do). So when you call other fans "not real fans" or "fair-weather fans", your message will get censored too.

Promo (42,182)
by Darryle from USA
| |
|
|
Since it seems the promo for YM(E) has ended I started thinking about promo for the album and what Mariah could do. For starters she should drop a single sometime this month. The single I'm assuming is going to be Thirsty because it's all she talks about when mentioning the album. Then drop a video with an actual storyline on a music video show like 106 and Park or MTV/VH1. Then perform the single live more than once. After she's drummed up interest in the album with the single she should do something like she did with TAOLG. Live chat with fans and answer questions about the journey or give insight on some songs from the album. But this time she should do a YouTube video chat so that she can talk and say as she pleases. After the live chat she should put the album up for preorder on iTunes along with a first listen. Then from there on out just do regular promo like sit down interviews and radio with the occasional live performance.

Censorship (42,181)
by Blake from Italy

I woke up laughing when I saw my post has been censored. It was tame compared to much of what has been posted here and certainly no profanity. It was simply objective, it occurs to me that often times the title "lamb" is interchange-able with "sheep". Does it occur to you that it looks really weak to have censorship on that level here? Imagine if CNN did that (overtly). What are you afraid of? No need to post a censored version or any version of this e-mail. Have a nice day.

I used to love Nick, but overtime I've come to dislike him. He talks way too much and gives the public way too much detail about him and Mariah's personal life. He appears to make Mariah happy and is a great father to dem babies so I can respect him for that but overall I really do not care for him. He also needs to stop making music. It's embarrassing lol, just my opinion.

Let's see what happens / Maxwell duet (42,178)
by Daydream327 from USA

I think at this point all the lambs can do is hope for the best. I'll be the first to admit that I have been very disappointed with the way this era has been going. It's frustrating. But I've come to realize that complaining will do nothing. We can have opinions on the music, performances, videos, ect. all day long but does that mean Mariah will actually take what we say into consideration? No. She is a grown woman and she will do whatever she wants in the end. I mean it is her music career and ultimately, she will be the one faced with the choices she has made. All we can do now is support this album and hope it's been worth the wait. And if it's not? Mariah has still given us a flawless discography of timeless music, and I will always appreciate her for that. Also: I'm praying that Maxwell did a duet with MC for this album. It was kinda confirmed when he tweeted about it a few months back and seemed very excited about working with MC. But I've noticed MC didn't even RT/or respond to his tweet at all and also she hasn't mentioned him as one of the collaborators. Iv'e been waiting for this duet forever. If it does't happen I think I'm going to cry. I would have taken a Maxwell duet over a Miguel duet anyday. Yeah, Mariah is not trying to be "trendy" though.

Kelly Price/Stephen from the UK (42,177)
by Special K from USA
| |
|
|
Ah, I have to respectfully disagree about Kelly Price. Nowhere in that interview does she say that Mariah "freaked out" or their relationship ended on bad terms. All she said was that Mariah"wasn't happy" to her leaving, then she states to make a "long story short", she met Puffy and the next day starting writing. Big deal? Of course Mariah wouldn't be happy that one of her best back up singers is leaving. Kelly Price has said way too many positive things over the years about Mariah. I really don't believe that her comments were meant to paint Mariah in a negative way. She was just telling what happened. It's her truth. None of us were there so who are we to judge and make such negative assumptions. I think some of you peeps just want to put a negative spin on Kelly's comments. Drama queens, lol. And excuse you Stephen, Kelly Price has had a decent career in R&B music so you need to fall back sir. JK, you know I love you.

Nick Cannon stand up special (42,176)
by Manny from U.S.
| |
|
|
Last night, I came across Nick Cannon's stand up special. I was wondering if any other lambs have seen it. When he talked about Mariah and his kids it was hilarious to me because it was so shocking. In the Tommy's years, Mariah would have not been associated with any of this. I thought he would not be funny but I was laughing hard at some jokes. The humor is for adults and not your typical Nick Cannon persona (Nickelodeon, America's Got Talent). The Mariah jokes are sexual in nature. He talks about a breast feeding fetish. (Webmaster: I'm not sure how much details I can write here; not disrespect to anyone.) If you've seen it: What do you guys think about his Mariah jokes? Is it too shocking and can it damage Mariah's image?

Mus (42,174)
by Stephen from London, United Kingdom

|
Mus, I must agree with you. What a fool. Kelly's recollection of events should not be given too much weight (no pun intended), given the fact that she appeared on the TTR remix in 2002, and the fact that she has appeared in interviews beyond leaving Mariah as a back up singer, stating how supportive Mariah was. She and Mariah can't have ended on such bad terms if that was the case. Kelly is bitter because of her own failings, and clearly finds it hard to accept that her career never took off, due to poor music, bad songwriting and a total lack of charisma on her behalf. I have never liked her, and always thought Mariah had better backup singers in any event. Melonie Daniels would wipe the floor with her sorry ass.

So many MC eras through the years (42,173)
by Sunshine Divalamb from Germany
| |
|
|
I'm a lamb since the beginning, I have been through every MC era like a lot of other lambs, even before we were called lambs. There where songs I absolutely love and songs that were kind off okay but didn't really do it for me. Even though there are (only) a few that I don't really like I still appreciate them, because I know that a lot of other lambs/fans and people that appreciate Mariah love them. And the fact that because I don't really like them doesn't mean these songs aren't any good, it's a matter of taste. For me she is a genius when it comes to her writing skills as well as her singing. We should never forget 100 people have 100 opinions; she can't make us all happy with the songs she releases or the songs she writes. For me I'm just happy she still writes and releases music and appreciate every song for as long as MC decides to make music.

Kelly Price (42,172)
by Musti from UK
| |
|
|
I am appalled by that video. How ungrateful can someone get? I agree with Nikki that if Mariah freaked out at all it was probably because of a short notice issue. Although Mariah's background vocalists have to be very talented, none of them are irreplaceable other than Mariah herself. How dare she talk like that about someone who gave her a chance? Did you all notice she said "then I met Puff Daddy"? Ummm Kelly was still Mariah's background vocalist on the Butterfly album. I wonder whether she met Diddy herself or Mariah introduced her to him after they produced Honey together. Again, how ungrateful. The fact that she would bring up a sensitive issue like Mariah's voice only shows how desperate she is to draw attention to herself and her bland material. Peace.

Final thoughts (42,171)
by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia
| |
|
|
I can't speak for anyone else, I can only speak from my own perspective. So having said that, the purpose of my posts (or responses to post) are never to try to "convert" people's opinions or "to prove I'm right and they're wrong", because I'm intelligent enough to know that it's all subjective. I post just to simply share my thoughts on topics and speak from my heart; and anybody has every right to agree or disagree with whatever I post. Whenever you make public statements or open your opinion for public discussions either everyone with agree, disagree, have mix responses, agree to disagree, or have no comment. Nothing's wrong with that, it's life. It's everyone's right to share their thoughts on whatever's being discussed, because its a public forum. Sometimes you are going to ruffle feathers and sometimes yours will be ruffled, it's okay the world won't stop turning. I definitely see more negative comments on here than positive these days, so I'm not getting the impression that people are afraid to express their thought because of backlash. However sometimes backlash is well deserved. I have no further comments on the Ariana comparisons, I've express all my thoughts on that topic and I'm content with what I've expressed. (*kisses my pinky and waves goodbye to anything related to this topic*) So how about that new album hey?

Clarification / musical taste (42,170)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
I am tired of the Ariana discussions, but I just need to make one final clarification (btw I won't be responding back to any comments regarding this). What I meant was that some of Ariana's songs are more relevant to the general public (not the lambily) than MC's past singles, except #Beautiful, which saw significant success. MC's recent singles may be relevant to the lambily, but the music that the general public in the U.S. listens to seems to be music with a ratchet twist, upbeat or more loose (as in not so perfect and precise) i.e. Drunk In Love. I know those aren't every American's preference, but from my observation ratchet music has taken over. I can almost guarantee you that if MC would have released Migrate as a single in 2014, it would be number one because it goes with the music trends of today (that song was so ahead of its time). Whether the lambily likes it or not, sweet, understated ballads like TAOLG or YME don't have a strong competitive advantage over these other more upbeat and club banger type of songs. I know someone may give an argument like "MC doesn't need to follow the trends" or "she doesn't want to do music like that," and that's fine, but there's a price to pay, which is charting lower, lower sales, less YouTube views etc if your music isn't aligning with the general public's taste. As you can see from the lower YouTube counts and chart positions, the lambily can only do so much. We need non-fans to get on board and think the songs are hot too.

Terna/ JLo (42,169)

Terna, your post is my favorite among all the Ariana posts. Six words to just put an end to the whole useless argument. Moving on, did you guys check out JLo's new song/video? Terrible, terrible song. I had to stop it mid way because of the annoying chorus and the overall bad quality of the song. I don't know what they were thinking when releasing that song as a single. Mariah can write a better song even while sleeping. Makes me appreciate how lucky we are to have someone who is a musical genius.

I totally agree with you Adam. It is just unprofessional to be hiring your friends as managers. It's fun, but you work sloppily, you're flexible with and don't honor deadlines and schedules, you chill and drink champagne and ultimately not get anything done. Lastly, MC seems like a person whose creativity needs guidance. This has been the trend for years and I'm afraid it'll be the same in the coming years.

How many years being a lamb? (42,167)
by Anonymous from
| |
|
|
Just wanna talk about Mariah legacy and forget about the new singers thing. I became a Mariah's lamb back in the late 90's early 2000. I heard Emotions on the radio but I didn't even knew who was that girl singing but at that time, in my country (Peru), her Heartbreaker video was always on a tv program I used to watch and I really liked it but it wasn't like the biggest song or singer I ever heard lol so when they start playing Against All Odds from the Homecoming special I just fell in love with that beautiful voice, her raspy but sublime range, her angelical face. BTW I have to say that that song was No 1 for several times on that show and always been played at the radio. So with the internet getting power I used to go to a cyber and search for Mariah Carey so at that time I couldn't found so much things (YouTube wasn't in anybody's dreams) but when I read about her biography and all the things she achieved in some few years I was impacted. I went to the market and bouht some cassettes (I'm feeling old talking about cassettes lol) and I was more fascinated with my new girl but I didn't speak any English, so thanks to the internet I copied the lyrics and tried to translated by my own and that's how I learned English thanks to Mariah. Oh and my father had a cassette with many ballads and Love Takes Time was part of it and I thought that song was Hero. Hahaha lol.

Carla, I've was accused by someone a while back as having an in with Eric and this site. Not true. While I have tried to conduct myself appropriately on this board, I too have had many of my posts edited or simply not posted at all. It's Eric's site and he alone decides what gets posted. The rules that apply to you also apply to me and others. It's easy to see your post censored and think you are being singled out. I've felt that way too. However, after posting here for years, I've come to see we all have to play by the same rules. Anyway, just speaking my lame two cents, lol. I do enjoy your posts here.

A general message / putting it to rest / no response needed (42,165)
by Marissa from USA
| |
|
|
The entire time I've posted on this messageboard there have been many things said that I've disagreed with but I've never once challenged anyone on their beliefs because it's a waste of energy to me. If someone is calling someone out on their opinion they are either a) trying to convert that person to their beliefs or b) trying to prove that they are right and the person they are responding to is wrong. The only time I've mentioned any lambs names on here is to either point out that I agree with them or because someone has responded to me. Responding for any other reasons than those two typically ends up contributing to the division that people are noticing among the lambs. On another note, I think some people are scared to share what they think because they see the backlash people get for saying things that go against the grain. I think the vibe of welcoming different opinions has diminished on this messageboard. Unless you agree with everything Mariah sings, does and says, you're throwing yourself into the lion's den. I know everyone won't agree but I think unless you're saying something positive or responding back to someone who has addressed you just leave it alone because no breakthroughs/nothing good ever seems to come out of it. Lamb_O_Chop, yes I definitely agree that we should just put this to rest.
