Mariah 2014 (41,685)
by Mark Gurney from England
| |
|
|
I have really enjoyed Mariah's last few single releases. I love the ballads "Almost Home" and "You're Mine", strong, powerful vocals. Whilst I am a lamb that would celebrate even more number 1s with Mariah, I would choose the quality of the tracks mentioned above rather than another number 1 single. An artist of Mariah's calibre should produce better videos than her latest efforts. I like Mariah being girly and flirty (that's her), but we need videos again like Heartbreaker and Honey. My biggest criticism of Mariah is that she is so lazy with her world tours. She's not toured in UK since 2002. I think her new album will be emancipating, rumours of duets with Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder and Celine Dion. Tour Mariah.

New album (41,684)
by Isaac Ortiz from USA

|
So Mariah is still working and adjusting the new album, which is nice to know. I'm excited and want the best for her. I feel that it will top or be as good as TEOM. Many people say that she still hasn't had an album that has topped it, but I disagree. I personally think that E=MC2 is just as good. Songs like "Touch my body" (even though it mainly goes for a female), "I stay in love", "I'll be lovin' you long time", and "I wish you well" all made me love Mariah even more. Memoirs was alright. I think "Candy bling" and "It's a wrap" are great. And "Up out my face" is hilarious and even better. Not to mention "Angels cry". I'm just so curious what she will name the new album. "Triumphant", "Beautiful" and "TAOLG" all are great. I'm not crazy for "You're mine", but it somewhat grew on me. As for the next single? I would go with "Hurricane" or one of the new songs she added.

I see you both are utilizing your degrees from the Mariah School of Shade. You know if Mariah was here right now she would would glitter bomb you both, right? Licia: Not you'll be happy if its at least 80% live? I can't. Edward: When it gets to the point where we can sit here debate over whether Mimi should cut her hair or not for a month straight chile that mood needed to be lighten, unloaded, lifted, trimmed shifted. I'm surprised we didn't need Oprah and Iyanla, and Dr. Phil for an intervention.

I am wondering why Achy Break's Heart 2 is higher on the charts that You're Mine. I also see that there are quite a few people of Mariah's age that are charting. Every time I think about that I just want Mariah's album to come out and destroy everybody else. I can't help but think that Mariah because she is a living legend is just less flexible these days and considered hard to work with.

Apologizing for liking a song? No one ever should indeed. What I wrote and what you say are oranges and apples. I agree with every word you wrote down.

Thank you G.G. for posting the video of Sam Moore "It's only Make Believe" (feat. Mariah & Vince Gill). I hadn't heard it a long time and I love this version. It made my day.

Your tracklist was amazing lol. The track "They Cry" (Dem babies interlude) made me laugh for 5 minutes straight. You should tweet it to MC. You are right about the thumbs down though, I sometimes read posts which are actually good things about MC and bam bam bam there are people who thought it deserves a thumbs down.

GG, thanks for posting that video. I've never heard that song before. Edward, thanks to you as well for the laugh. I agree sometimes we need some funny moments on this board. I'm not nervous about the BET thing. I hope for the best. If she sings at least 80% of the song I'll be happy.

Lamb_O_Chop, Will, David, I'm glad my post put a smile on your faces, I'm still surprised nobody has thumbed me down to hell. If they thumbed down Stacey's cute story about her daughter good taste in music, I was expecting to be crucified. I think we need to laugh a little on this messageboard from time to time. I can't wait to see Mariah perform tonight, but I have to admit I'm a little bit nervous.

Mariah/Monroe nailpolish article (41,670)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
That article is so wrong and should be corrected before people scream "child labor" and "diva making kid work". (I say child labor, because recently a famous Indian actress was attacked for posting a picture of her nieces tying her shoe laces and everyone went over dramatic and accused her of child labor, come on.) Monroe is clearly not holding a heat lamp, it's a normal stand lamp or floor lamp, which does not need to be held. What Monroe is actually holding is a purple nail polish bottle. I don't know who was stupid enough to think such a tiny kid will be holding that lamp. Secondly, Mariah isn't the one in specs and that head/hair isn't hers, it's obviously her manicurist or friend or whatever who is painting M's nails. It can easily be seen from the picture, and also come on, who can sit at that impossible angle. Unless you have some crazy spine surgery.

You thinking it is a mediocre song is up to you and nobody should have to apologize for thinking it actually is a nice song. Once again, someone who confuses quality (up to the listener) and chart trajectory. I personally won't say sorry for saying I liked the song 2 weeks ago and still liking it even if it should fall out the Billboard charts.

I so love you for that post. The sad part is I would still buy that album. You know she would sing "Overhead Lighting" with too much conviction. She'd never have to lip that one.

Edward from USA, you are hilarious. Whilst I don't mind Mariah's constant use of "dahling" and her obsession with lighting, your post gave me a good laugh. Although I do think she could focus on the question she's asked a little more rather than going off on a tangent so often. It makes for great entertainment though. She has such a fun personality.

Being fair (41,664)
by Orkun from The Netherlands
| |
|

When some of us wrote here that You're Mine wouldn't do well and it's a mediocre song and radio wouldn't support it, me being one of them, many lambs said we were kind of haters and bashing the song. If I was proven wrong, I'd happily apologize and write on here I was wrong and I'm very happy the song did have chart succes dispite my opinion about the song. I truly am a fan. It would be fair to expect the same from some of those who claimed otherwise. I'm just saying. Fair play.

Do you mean something like my avatar hair wise? If so I think Mariah would look amazing in something like that. It suits her but it's different. Unfortunately I think she would be to afraid to do something so out of her comfort zone like that.

Next single (41,662)
by Eternal from Italy
| |
|

I believe since Mariah herself leaked the title of the song "Thirsty", she might already be thinking of it as her next single. She might have leaked the title to generate anticipation and interest among the lambily, knowing that not all of us would be satisfied with You're Mine as a single. I hope it'll be a smashing uptempo like It's Like That or Migrate, two of her hardest-hitting songs ever. I'm still dreaming of a potential song written with the likes of Pharrell though. His song Happy is classy, sassy, fun and energizing all at the same time. A throwback fresh sound. Exactly what Mariah needs. Vintage without being outdated. Fresh without necessarily throwing herself into techno, EDM music to rule the charts.

Mariah's sound (41,661)
by Eternal from Italy
| |
|

Some of us may bemoan the sweet girl-next-door, safe pop music that Mariah used to make in her early career, but she actually did good by breaking away from that boring goody two shoes music/style. If she had just blindly followed what Mottola's team wanted, she would have continued making just pop music all her career. Nice, but rather insignificant. Instead she chose to blaze her own trail, incorporating rap, hip hop, motown, r&b, and dance elements in her later albums, hence developing her own identity in music. I don't think Daydream, Butterfly and TEOM would have happened if Mariah continued being Mottola's puppet. The comparisons with Whitney also stopped after these albums, and they became known in the 90s as equal competitors rather than her just playing second fiddle to Whitney. I listen regularly to Mariah's albums, and it struck me after awhile that Music Box, while full of gems like AYNAF and EFA, lacks the kind of musical depth that her later albums had. I think Ariana needs to contribute her own musical input into her albums and songs, put her own style on things rather than trying to emulate Mariah's unique whistle register and whispers. She's such a lovely girl and deserves the success she's had for her first album, but you can't have a career based on Mariah's Daydream style all your life. If you want to be known as more than just a one hit wonder, you have to evolve as an artist.
