New album (40,787)
by George Golden from UK
| |
|
|
What is going on with Mariah? Where is the music and where is the album? I am really frustrated with this era. Everything regarding her nowadays is so out of place. Why can't she reinvent herself and come up with an album with groovy tunes and social awareness? She needs to get her act together. She needs to get herself some respect in the industry. I am happy that she is now married with kids but it just seems after marrying that guy she just went downhill and everything is like one big comedy. I love Mariah, that is why I am venting. I hope her new collaboration is with Pharell, Jay-Z or even Justin Timberlake, because she needs a killer uptempo groovy track that needs to be too good to be ignored. All that ghetto wanna be should end now please.

Vocal duet (40,785)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
|
|
The best duet for Mariah at this point would be with Celine Dion. Both are the true divas from the 90's that still making albums. I still remember watching VH1 Divas Live 1998 where Mariah and Celine sang their biggest hits and 1998 was the best year for both of them, plus Shania Twain. I really wish the era of the big powerful voice of divas would return in 2014 just like the 90's. It all could start with Mariah. I really want her to be on top of the charts once more. I know she can do it.

Hair / duets (40,782)
by CMC from NY,NY
| |
|
|
As a hairstylist and colorist in NYC I've thought Mariah's color had been very off and tired looking. It's too blonde and looks cheap and tone is aging her. She needs to go back to more of a dark honey base with subtle highlights. I'm dying for her to go back to the butterfly album cover hair. She'd look more fresh and youthful. I have to say the Usher rumor gives me no excitement at all. A Bruno Mars duet would give me everything and be more current. All these male duets seem a bit much. I'd like more and Mariah.

The hair (40,780)
by Lamb_O_Chop from Australia

I agree with Issac. People should really get off the hair thing. Mariah's hair is her signature and it's always on point. I wouldn't even want to see her with short hair anyway. It'll end up coming off as contrived and she'll probably end up putting in extensions like Beyonce did anyway. If she wore a different wig in a video or two, I wouldn't mind, but changing her look like Madonna and Rihanna has never been her thing and would look desperate and gimmicky at this point.

Get outta here dude. "The art of letting go" title and song are both great. "Almost home" not so much. "Triumphant" and "Beautiful" both beat it. "Almost home" was not right for Mariah's voice. Also, Mariah knows what she's doing. People are constantly suggesting what she should name the album. Or do with it. Let Mariah do Mariah. All everyone needs to know is that the album is going to be good. And whatever she did or decides to do, I'm going to support and back her up 100%.

Almost Home / new album (40,778)
by Danny Cedar from uk
| |
|
|
I think Mariah should really at this point in her career (at her most experienced) come up with a killer one word album title. Yeah TEOM did well and had a longer more complicated one but times have moved on it needs to be catchy, relevant and snappy. I don't like TAOLG as a title or song tbh, they are the worst in her career. Almost Home was a brilliant song, catchy and well sang with some nice "nuances". It would be nice to see this as a bonus track. The album has to be flawless to give her a well needed boost as recent appearances and interviews suggest although getting more of the "real" Mariah is not translating well to the general public. If this is no longer as important to her then she should scrap albums and do more shows and continue with her works such as the publications and theatre, which I think she would be excellent at, and some minor lip synching would not go out of place there.

Dear fans, supporters and artists. I'm asking you all to donate to my dear friend Gavin Christopher who need help financially and recovering from congestive heart failure operation. Anything you can donate will be appreciated, click on the link below. Gavin Christopher has been writing, producing and singing songs that soul music fans worldwide have come to know and love for almost 40 years. The man has worked with the likes of Chaka Khan, Curtis Mayfield, Herbie Hancock, Jeff Lorber, Sheila E. and even a young Mariah Carey in the beginning of her career. In 2013, he was featured on one of Fullasoul Radio's biggest hits of the year. James Day's "Considered Delivered" (which also featured vocalist Audrey Wheeler). But the high of having another hit song out was shortly-lived, as Gavin was forced into the hospital this past September with congestive heart failure.

Who cares how Mariah styles her hair? She's always looked great. And she's worn her hair many different ways throughout the years. You make it seem like she's had the same hair style for a long time. How she has it now looks nice. It's already short enough. So get off her hair. But the album tilte you suggested, I agree. It's a great title. And the best I've heard here on the messageboard.

Album name (40,774)
by Edward from USA

|
The weird thing about "The Art of Letting Go" is that Mariah has never referred to the album with that name nor did she ever give out any explanation. Nick did refer to the album with that name though before her performance at Macy's. New Year, new album title, and new songs. What happened in 2013, and anything associated with it, should stay in 2013.

Thoughts on the new era (40,773)
by B from USA
| |
|
|
The title The Art Of Letting Go is associated with delays and bad press. She needs a new name for the album. I like Mariah and no I don't think people will think she's copying Bey. She needs to leave TAOLG and Triumphant off the album. She has me excited. I hope the duet is with Justin or Usher. If she does cover a Whitney song I'm hoping for Why Does It Hurt So Bad or one of the many gospel songs Whitney recorded/sang. Besides she never confirmed the album was titled The Art Of Letting Go. I'm excited for the Nas and Stevie Wonder collaborations.

I'll take it. Lol. As for the album title, I think she is going to change it because I got the impression she was a little pissed when the title got leaked. She wanted to be the one to announce it and somebody beat her to it. I have never even heard Mariah call the album by name. I actually think it's going to be called My New Album because that's all she has ever referred to it as. Lol. If she changes it, cool. If she doesn't, it's still cool by me. I just want music.

New hairstyle, maybe (40,771)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
| |
|
|
I guess after 23 years and counting in the music industry maybe all she needs is a new hairstyle. Maybe. Imagine, how vast the coverage she will gets for the new hair and the new album. I'm not saying short hair like Miley, just neck-length short. For the title, she should named the album "Songbird" because that's who she is.

Tarraga, Edward / album cuts (40,768)
by CMC from NY,NY

Yes, I want new lamb friends. Sent you an email Tarraga. Edward, are you in NYC too? I just want to add about everyone wanting certain songs on the album. I don't want any previously released tracks on the album. I don't understand why people would. That's just taking away from new tracks we will get. We all own them and have heard them at this point anyway. Beautiful was practically a year ago at this point. I want new tracks! Let the old ones go. They can stand alone, keep them in 2013. Just my thoughts.

Haha. Karaoke is a must. Some Mariah themed games/drinking games? Ha. Oh that reminded me, G.A.Y in Manchester has a Mariah themed cocktail called "Dreamlover". Made me smile when I saw it. Yeah can we tie it in with the album release maybe? Or plan something around her doing some promo in the UK? I'd be totally up for helping organise something. Add me on FB or drop me a message.

Jeeze remix video (40,764)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Well, I hope you all know Mariah is superstitious, and since the filming of the video remix with Jeezy almost cost her an arm, a leg and a couple of eyelashes, I don't think that video will ever see the light of day. At this point I am happy with being able to listen to the remix. That video wasn't anything special anyway. She'll pretend that the video, just like Glitter, never happened.

Hi Joe, you're not late at all. I am in the process of trying to arrange this, together with Colin and one or two others. We are in the process of sorting out a venue and possible dates/themes. As you can probably imagine, this is not something that can be done in a week. At the moment we are thinking that we may do it so that it coincides with Mariah's new music. We will update you and others on this board when we have something more concrete arranged. If you have any suggestions, we are more than receptive to receiving them. It would be great if you and all the other UK lambs could make it. Did someone say karaoke? Jokes lol.

Should Mariah "let go" of the original album title? (40,760)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
That's an interesting question that's being raised about changing the album's title. To me, it feels like "Angel's Advocate", the doomed remix album which never saw the light of day. I wouldn't be that upset if Mariah didn't include Beautiful and TAOLG on the album if she wanted to start fresh. I highly doubt Triumphant will make the cut as that was probably her worst-received single in history, by critics and fans alike. Because the album's title has been bandied about for so long, it's lost its edge now unfortunately. My concern now is that if the V-Day single tanks, that she'll push back again. It's like she's tried to launch the album since Triumphant but is waiting to do so off the back of a smash hit. She'll be in for a long wait if that's the strategy.
