I think an album is coming (102,523) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Yeah, MC could do everything if she really wants. A new album would be fantastic. But I have some doubts that it's coming soon, I hope I'm wrong. We will see.

I think so too. I actually think there are a few surprises this year. I want The Rarities 2 first.

The Beautiful Ones (102,520) by Bobby A from United States
Does anyone know the real story why Devante Swing of Jodeci was removed as producer on The Beautiful Ones? It was confirmed by Sisqo that he did produce it and is heard on the track doing ad libs.

I think an album is coming (102,519) by Randy from USA
I think she always goes on vacation before promotion. In addition, it's been awhile since Caution. Furthermore, it's been quiet lately. We all know MC can make an album in three months. And for the record I like Rainbow. Her voice is not in great shape but she is the queen of studio magic. Even if MC is not signed, she can easily announce a signing and an album at the same time. What do y'all think?

Just a thought (102,518) by MusicfanJ from Germany
It makes sense. Heartbreaks, traumas and dissapointments can destroy a voice, if the soul has pain, the voice gets weaker and weaker. For everyone, not just singers. I never heard about that Japanese healer, but it sounds interesting. Definitely something one could try.

Just a thought (102,516) by Bobby A from United States
Singer Melanie Fiona lost her voice some years ago. She could not sing for longer than 30 minutes without going hoarse. One particular doctor asked her if her life had been hard for the past couple of years with some heartbreak or disappointment. She told the doctor yes and he referred her to a Japanese reiki healer. Once she had three sessions with the healer, she was able to let go of all of the trauma that caused her voice problems. Maybe this is what has happened to MC's voice. She has experienced a lot of heartbreak and disappointment during her career especially during the years of 1998-2001, 2003-2005, 2008-2010, 2013-2015, and 2018-2022.

I agree with you, that's what it feels like. Some great songs, but that's it. Hopefully we get some of those unused tracks on The Rarities 2.

She should have released the album as "The Art of Letting Go" on the original release date. "Me I Am Mariah" has some good songs, but it does not work as an album. Like "Rainbow," it felt like something she released simply to fulfill contractual obligations. Collaborating with Miguel on "#Beautiful" was a smart move, but the momentum got squandered.

My All Blockbuster Awards 1998 (102,513) by Bobby A from United States
This has to be the most beautiful performance of My All during the Butterfly era. I think this is the only time that she ended My All the way she did. And she looked gorgeous accepting her award.

Article: Track list revealed for Mariah's new album (102,512) by Edward from USA
An employee at Walmart was responsible for the title leak, but I doubt it was the reason Mariah scrapped everything. At the time it was about to be released, she was still in a relationship with Nick. When their relationship started going down south is when TAOLG didn't make sense to her anymore.

We can blame Walmart for TAOLG being scrapped. Someone at the retail giant leaked the album title and July 23, 2013 release date. Mariah was pissed and released MIAM less than a year later on May 23, 2014. I believe that Thirsty, $Money, Meteorite, YDKWTD, and Heavenly were recorded after the Wal-Mart leak of TAOLG.

Article: Track list revealed for Mariah's new album (102,510) by Edward from USA
"The Art of Letting Go" was the name of the album, but then it morphed into MIAMTEC. The original concept was scrapped, she recorded new songs, discarded others and TAOLG was relegated to a bonus track. According to Nick, the original "The Art of Letting Go" was classic Mariah, with powerful ballads, he described it as Mariah going back to her roots, but that never happened.

Not sure how delaying it added to the experience of the album. In hindsight maybe a July 2013 would've been the best idea.

This is interesting and quite accurate except a few points. I wonder who got this information and do some of those songs actually exist?

Music Box (102,507) by MusicfanJ from Germany
What a beautiful and great post. "Every night I had my headphones on and fell asleep listening to that song." I did the same with Everything Fades Away, I thought I were the only one back then.

I became a fan with "Daydream", "Music Box" was my second album I bought and I loved it right away, still do. I get nostalgic while listening, because of all the reasons you mentioned. It is such a special album, it has a quality from the first seconds to the last. It's just overwhelming. When I listen to it now, it's like back then. There's the same feelings, it goes very deep. It's hard to describe in English, but I hope you understand. I knew a German Hip-Hop producer, he loved Everything Fades Away more than anything else. Every time we listened to it, he said only Mariah with a big smile. I think that says a lot. Yes, only Mariah could do an album like Music Box at a time where all things came together perfectly. It was and is a perfect album. Not just for lambs.

Music Box (102,506) by Edward from USA
Music Box is what I call a perfectly balanced album, 10 tracks, no waste. Even Everything Fades Away is brilliant. As I stated, MIAM have some great songs and vocal moments, but the sound is mostly dated and depressing. I hide all the knives and any pointy objects when I rarely listen to it. And let's not talk about how Marian perfectly captured Children of the Corn in Super Creepy and how she sung One More Try high on helium. Tracks I still listen too are: Dedicated (those whistles are some of her best), #Beautiful, Make It Look Good (best track), You Don't Know What to Do and Meteorite.

Music Box (102,505) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Everything Fades Away was the last track on the European version of Music Box, and is my favourite track from the album. I first became a fan after My All and my first CD by Mariah was Butterfly. But after that I bought Daydream and a friend of me gave me her Music Box CD, for a long time Everything Fades Away was my favourite song to listen to, every night I had my headphones on and fell asleep listening to that song.

What I think makes Music Box such a good album, is that it's the sound many people call the classic Mariah. When I listen to songs from Music Box, it makes me nostalgic, even though I didn't listen to it when it first came out. There are a few songs that bring me back to certain moments in life, and certain eras of time. The sound of Music Box makes you nostalgic about Mariah, her image and voice, but also to the 90s and maybe a time that now seems innocent and maybe less troublesome as compared to today's world.

Music Box is also what made Mariah an international act, brought her to super stardom, and the songs from that album is what non fan people remember the most.

Yes, it would have been really nice to get a Music Box'esque album, but to capture the era, moment and the phenomenon that was Music Box, will be hard to do.

Now I think I have to listen to Everything Fades Away.

I guess we never thought that MC would keep us waiting for a new album this long. I just hope that whatever she releases is real and authentic and not another Caution.

Music Box (102,502) by Randy from USA
I usually agree wit you Edward but to call MIAMTEC depressing is kinda funny. The second half of Music Box is slit your wrist fantastic. Never Forget You, Without You, Just To Hold You Once Again, All I Ever Wanted and if Sony had the balls to add Everything Fades Away it's the saddest thing since Terms of Endearment. All MC albums are sad to me. That's why I connect. I think MIAMTEC is her worst album but not because it's depressing. It's incoherent and her vocals sound like they were produced by AI.

Music Box (102,501) by Edward from USA
I can assure you we all here supported her by buying the album, but put your feet on the ground and realize that MIAM didn't connect with the general public. The constant pushbacks, the messy rollout, fans are not to blame. Yes, there were some great songs and vocal moments, but the album is depressing and overproduced. I bought one for me and gifted one, I bought the singles and remixes, but I have rarely listened to the album since its release. While Caution didn't have any vocal moments, it's far superior, in my humble opinion. If you don't grow with your fans, you lose them. Her remaining fans can make much difference at this point, don't put that on us. We've been here patiently waiting for five effing years for new music, we've been supporting any hyped-up half-cooked new songs she puts out every now and then. I know she has to breastfeed the little twins, but come on. We need another Caution but with some vocal moments and more tracks.

Great interview. I love how they talk about a potential classic Christmas song and then we get AIWFIY to become the staple it is. It doesn't sound like she even knew it would be from this interview, but for those that watched documentary on it, the composition was so intentional. And I love every time she mentions Miss You Most at Christmas Time, my personal favorite.

Miley Cyrus - fun challenge (102,499) by JC from USA
I've been listening to the new Miley album (esp. Jaded, Violet Chemistry, and Muddy Feet). Much, much better than her last IMO. For those interested, check 1:44 on Violet Chemistry. Remind you a little bit of a specific MC track as well? It's unlikely a nod to it, but it makes me smile every time I hear it.
