Unplugged 2013 (38,146) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
I'm praying hard for another Mariah Unplugged 2013. It's been 21 years after Unplugged 1992. Just imagine how great it would be if Mariah perform songs on stage with dimmed lights and just her and another guy playing a guitar ala My All in SNL 1997. Trust me, this would attract so many new fans and would be the best platform as a promotion of her new album.

Ballads and live performance this weekend (38,145) by Blake from USA
I forgot about "And you don't remember" and "Can't take that away". Amazing songs. This just proves its too hard to pick a favorite. I agree with Brandon; "The roof" and "Breakdown" are some of my personal favs. I don't think of them as ballads though. I didn't get Mariah's picks for her ballad release track listing. "How much" (with Usher) is not a ballad. Ballads were always referred to as slow, vocal driven tunes. I think this was the better performance this far but Mariah cracked a bit and Miguel's harmony signing does't work. He comes off weird on stage. I think he should stick to singing his part in the single version of that register. His falsetto is nice, but the harmony is weak in my opinion. Nothing would make me happier than seeing Mariah perform it solo.

Merry Christmas, Daydream, and Butterfly (38,144) by Anonymous from
Those are my all time favorite albums by any artist. Mariah was on a roll.

Breakdown (38,143) by Anonymous from
I haven't read any comments about Breakdown. Personally, I consider it a ballad. And it's my favorite song ever, well I guess it's tied with The Roof.

Mariah's style (38,142) by Lyric from USA
The reactions to Mariah's latest twitter photo were ridiculous. People are dead set on criticizing Mariah's style when she has been dressing skimpy on and off since the late 90s. Fans and the general public should be used to it. She is a mother and a wife and I understand that people expect her to adapt to a classier style, but it's not gonna happen. Mariah believes that the only way to be sexy is to show skin, and so be it. She looks great regardless. But I think she could use some tips from Halle Berry, a woman who dresses her age and still maintains her sex appeal. It can be done. Mariah's style hasn't evolved too much, I kinda wish she was a fashion icon like other pop stars.

Ballads (38,141) by John from USA
My favorite released ballad is Love Takes Time. I have two all-time favorite unreleased ballads: Till The End Of Time, and When I Saw You.

Rashidi Rahim Rick / Hot97 (38,140) by Will from England
No.The performance was very good IMO. Those high notes at the end were more than just live. I thought she looked very TAOM esque with those sunglasses. Yeah, she had a couple of rough patches but overall, it was very good.

Hot97 Summer Jam (38,139) by Licia from USA
Finally a decent performance of of Beautiful. Finally. Lol. I loved it. Both Mariah and Miguel were on point. If you want to see it, the video is on YouTube.

Nikki from the USA (38,138) by Anonymous from
I love every song you listed. Another one that I would add would be Long Ago from the Daydream album.

Rashidi / album title (38,137) by Edward from USA
Rashidi. Unicorn... really? I am the only one who can use unicorn sarcastically on this board. Unless you are being serious. Another one word album title would be good to me as long as she doesn't go over the rainbow. Memoirs was a good title too. As long as the music is good, the album title isn't that importan, like Alanis "Jagged Little Pill". I just hope the album title is also a song on the album. I think Mariah is about to drop a bomb soon, a good one of course, but I can't quite figure what it is.

Lee/Mariah at Summer Jam (38,136) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I agree. I have always loved it when Mariah had been interviewed by Rosie. I find that Rosie is down to earth, and not very Hollywood. She makes Mariah very comfortable, and they interview like friends, as opposed to a professional relationship. I just saw Mariah sing live with Miguel at Summer Jam. There were a few problems with the sound quality, but it was obvious Mariah was singing live. Those high notes at the end were the nuts. I loved them. Her shorts deserve their own twitter feed. I can't believe she's 43 lol.

Unicorn should be the new album title. Peace.

Favorite ballad (38,134) by Ray from Malaysia
Like so many of you, it is almost impossible to list down just a few ballads when there are so many that I love, especially from her earlier catalog. But my all time favorite ballad that I would go back and listen to over and over again would be Love Takes Time. While Vision Of Love caught my attention, LTT sealed my fate as a fan. This song will always have a special place in my heart.

Mariah and Rosie (38,133) by Lee from UK
I have just been watching Mariah being interviewed by Rosie O'Donnel in 1997. I love the way Rosie and Mariah can just sit there and chat like they are old friends. I love the stories about Mariah before she was famous, such as the girl who stole Mariah's Smurfette doll, and the time she used Sun-In and her hair went as orange as her blow dryer. Even though Mariah wasn't too happy with her performance of My All, as she thought it was "raspy" due to all the smoke she inhaled at a benefit the night before, she still sounded amazing.

6. Close my eyes. Poetic.
7. Butterfly. Takes you to some other place.
8. Lead the way. Vocally astonishing.

Favourite ballad (38,131) by Joe from United Kingdom
Ok, how do I choose, because I have so many favourites. It varies, depending on my mood or what I feel like listening to. I love "Vanishing". Nobody has mentioned "And you don't remember", which is a song I like aswell. Just thinking about it, it's crazy how many good songs (ballads and non-ballads) she's sang and on top of that written aswell. I'm sure we can agree MC is a one of a kind artist. I cannot wait for even more amazing new songs.

Ballads (38,130) by Billy from Greece
Too many exceptional recordings in this field to even start mentioning, but I have to say that "Butterfly" is just too unique, too special.

Re: nikki (38,129) by Billy from Greece
I second that. And yes, she did sound gorgeous on the snippets of "Underneath the Stars" and "The Roof" and, generally, on any undubbed "amateur" recording.

Newbie in NYC via Barcelona (38,126) by Tarraga from New York City
Hi lambs. I have been checking this website since 2001, but I never had enough time to join this amazing messageboard. I have been living in Manhattan, NYC since 2006, but I'm originally from Barcelona, Spain. I'm an opera singer, a Bel Canto Tenor. I'm 32 years old. I have been extremely busy since I arrived in the USA, but I am finally free, on vacation until September (yay). I have never met a lamb in person other than my sister Julia. I have seen Mariah many times in NYC, but I never had a chance to go to any of her concerts. I would love to meet the NYC lambily, hang out, become friends, etc. Now that Mariah has confirmed her world tour, I'm definitely going to her concert in NYC. But I don't want to go alone, so it would be great if I had a group of lambfriends to share that experience. I have read a lot of negative post since Triumphant came out and that really made me sad. We are all here for one reason, our queen, so we should respect everybody's opinions. I have been a lamb since Vision Of Love and I must say that I love love love every single album that Mariah has done. The variety of styles and music is amazing. I love the Mariah of the 90's, of course, but if she hadn't evolved, people would have gotten tired and bored. Mariah's or no one else's voice can stay the same forever. That's impossible. Everybody seems to forget that Mariah has nodes in her vocal folds and she doesn't what to do surgery, because she is afraid of losing her voice (see Julie Andrews). I think that we all should be grateful to still have her around and make such amazing music. I love Triumphant, I love Almost Home and I love #Beautiful. She doesn't need to belt every time she sings. I didn't like Triumphant that much when I first heard it, but now I am loving it. It is an amazing single. I am still waiting for a Jazz/Blues/Soul album. Her voice with a piano or a very small ensemble would sound great. My favorite album is Charmbracelet and my favorite song is Vanishing. My favorite ballad is So Blessed. I love love love Glitter and E=MC2. I love this messageboard.

Her live vocals (38,125) by nikki from usa
I think all this can be solved with smaller venues and less hoopla. The more I'm hearing "technical problems", I go listen to the fans uploaded versions of these live events and they sound so so so much better than what I'm seeing on tv. I thought her voice sounded phenomenal on Underneath The Stars from AI and The Roof was such a nice touch. Her high notes were on point from a fan's iPad or iPod or whatever it was from GMA. It didn't sound like either tv version. I don't know why so many producers are screwing everything up by overdoing so much. It's unnecessary and drowns her out or makes the sound bad. The half time show was a miss. Then a few hours later she's at the Carlyle singing jazz like it's 1996. The tv performances sound awful, but the fans uploaded versions are a million times better. Fire the producers Mariah, go acoustic. That'll shut everyone up. For a week. Maybe.

Favourite ballad (38,124) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
I'm not gonna lie, I don't really like Mariah's ballads. My favourite song is Loverboy. That was obviously a joke lol. It's too hard to specify one, but Without You, Lead the Way, Can't Let Go, Whenever You Call, Alone In Love (I consider this a ballad), Melt Away, Butterfly, to name a few lol. Please note I wasn't throwing shade at Loverboy, which I consider to be her worst lead sine, but still a good song to me.

Best ballads: a difficult task (38,123) by RadChad from United States
Tell you what, go to YouTube and look up the "Love Takes Time "video. That song is the truth, the vocals are emotional and pure. It's the essence of what made me love MC. After that look up the "Anytime You Need A Friend" video, and just be in awe of the effortless soaring powerful vocals and uplifting message that accompanies it. Then last but not least, take a moment to listen to "Butterfly", magical is what is it. As a matter of fact, the best way describe Mariah's best ballads is magical from the vocal delivery, arrangements, and lyrics Mariah takes me on that journey with her. There truly are too many best ballad to name. I mean there's Forever, Whenever You Call, Lead The Way, Never Too Far, FLAB, I Wish You Well and more to come, but those main three named are top for me.

Ballad (38,122) by Jimbo from UK
My All is my favourite Mariah ballad. Lyrically it is poetical, and the singing is a work of art. Restrained and very longing.

Best ballad (38,121) by Musti from UK
Impossible to pick, but Fly Like A Bird would probably take my trophy. It never grows old and lifts up my mood everytime. Such a charm.
