Idol / jaker20 (37,855) by Stacey from USA
I agree. I was thinking if Miguel is on tour (right?), then maybe they could have a pre-recorded track of some sort. She often does that with duets at concerts, like with ODB and Fantasy. This is a great time to promote the song and give it some lift on radio.

Stephen / Chase / others (37,854) by Stacey from USA
Amen Stephen and Chase. Stephen, yeah it's been like that for a long time. But you know, I can say at the end of the day I kept it respectful. That's far more than I can say for others. Thanks for always being cool with me. People feel the need to say how long they've been a fan because they say "I didn't care for the song because (enter reason)." and all of a sudden you're under fire, having your dedication questioned because a song didn't strike an immediate chord. It's not right. Go to any artist's messageboard and you'll see fans liking and disliking new songs, videos, etc. It's reality. If you expect to write on a messageboard where all fans approve of everything an artist does like robots, you need to get a reality check. If a fan comes on and says they hate Mariah, I'll call them out. I don't recall folks who didn't like the video using such language. IMO, saying someone "sickens you" is hateful. Know what I mean? Just like Mariah, her "professional people" are human, prone to greatness and the occasional mistake. I think they made a mistake with the video. Others like it. That's ok. Just chill and don't get your panties in a wad when someone disagrees with you. Geesh. Moving on, folks.

Why in the world is MC singing a medley in AI? (37,853) by jaker20 from US
She's got a song to promote and she's promoting... her catalog? This is the perfect timing to promote the song. I hope maybe Miguel will have a special appearance and then they'll sing a song, like a surprise.

Antone (37,852) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
"It's sad when a group of fans get on a fan site and state how much they hate the artist they are commenting on." Nobody ever wrote they hate Mariah. I wouldn't allow that. Maybe they wrote they dislike something Mariah did, or somerthing she sang, or something she wore, but they never said they hated Mariah.

Stacey and others (37,851) by Antone from Us
No one said that you couldn't express yourself or have an opinion about anything. My issue is when people say well she should've done this or that. She made the wrong single choice or wore the wrong clothing. Mariah has a team of "professional people" that helps mold Mariah. People on here go on and on about how much they hate something about a artist they say they support, really. And to the person that said Stacey doesn't have to defend herself, you're exactly right because I wasn't talking to her in the first place. She commented on what I posted, so get your facts straight. People can continue to disagree all they want. It's sad when a group of fans get on a fan site and state how much they hate the artist they are commenting on. That doesn't make sense!

I'm with Antone (37,850) by jaker20 from US
Why would anyone say "I don't understand why everyone likes the song"? If you don't understand, then there is something wrong with you. Because, duh, you're in an MC fan forum. Feel free to post that on a general forum, but on an MC forum, obviously you're going to tick someone. That's like going to MCDonald's and say burgers are gross. Feel free to express you don't like a song, but free expression has a right place and time. And it goes with tact and timing. I myself express negative opinions on this board, but if I know it's strongly negative, I know for sure I'll ruffle feathers so I'll move on. So it's not for you, just keep walking and don't preach. Don't go on and on with the free expression rhetoric and how long you've been a fan. If I get a dollar every time someone here gets melodrama and defensive about how long they've been a fan... for real.

Stacey (37,848) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
You shouldn't have to defend yourself for not liking or agreeing with something Mariah has done, whether that be music or otherwise. I feel like you constantly have to defend yourself on this board and it's ridiculous. I like how you handle it though. Bravo lol. For example, we may have differing opinions on #Beautiful and the accompanying video, but that's cool. Not everyone has to agree, and nor do you have to like everything in the land of Mariah lol. This is getting tiresome. I really do question the mental age of some people on here.

The video / put the dress down (37,847) by Anonymous from
I just watched the video and was pleased and upset. I loved the quality of the video first of all. Very high quality and better than what I'm used to seeing in videos. Mariah looked great and so did dude. It actually made me like the song a lot more than what it did to be honest. My only issue is the fact that why did she have to show us her panties. I think Mariah has to remember that she does have female fans. We are not interested in seeing her junk. It's not cute to us. She can flop her dress around and show a little bit of cleavage, but we dont want to see "all" of your mess.

Stacey / Antone (37,846) by Chase from USA
Amen, Stacey. Just because we are fans and support Mariah, we do not have to love or agree with everything she does. I have been a fan since the mid-1990s and have supported Mariah throughout her career. She has done a lot that I love and some things I don't love, especially post-2006. I'm a free-thinking, individual human being, and that is something that should be celebrated on this board, not attacked. Our personal tastes are what attracted us to Mariah's music to begin with. Everyone here should be able to express how they feel without being insulted or insulting other people. Knowing the power of agreeing to disagree is a valuable skill.

Antone (37,845) by Stacey from USA
If a comment like "I don't understand why everyone likes the song" bothers you, you are going to be unnecessarily angry all the time. Fans here who didn't like the video were simply expressing why they didn't like it. No one was attacking MC's character, her family, children, etc. Just the choice of the video's direction. No fan ever has liked every little thing she's ever done. It's unrealistic. On that point, I think you need to grow up. We are fans from all around the world and will like/dislike different things. And no MC is no Mother T. Been a fan since 1993. I don't think that. But, to show a video during a family friendly show is questionable. C'mon, let's be real here. MC is human, prone to greatness and sometimes the occasional mistake. If criticism of MC is without merit, reasons don't add up, then I'm with you. It's bull. But, if someone posts good reasons why they think a song/video could be better, then I support them having their say. Let's have a discussion and learn from one another. If you feel differently, then I guess we'll just agree to disagree. I'll always defend a fan's right to share their opinion. That's the bottom line for me. Peace.

Beautiful already over? (37,844) by Chase from USA
I hope Mariah performs #Beautiful at the Idol finale. She could at least tack it onto the beginning or end of a greatest hits medley. The video premiere on Idol gave the song a shot in the arm, and it went up a few spots on iTunes. It has now begun to descend well out of the iTunes top 10. This single created more buzz than any Mariah release since Obsessed, which is an accomplishment in and of itself. However, she is so close to having a bona fide hit on her hands, that I would be very disappointed to see it disappear as quickly as it arrived. The likelihood that the single has already peaked is a depressing notion that reminds me of the frustrating E=MC2 era. I'll take good music over high chart positions, and I can't complain about the positive reception and mild commercial success #Beautiful has already seen, but it shouldn't be finished and forgotten already.

AI finale (37,843) by Ray from Malaysia
A few things I'm most excited about for the AI finale. First, Mariah's wardrobe. Since she's performing so there will definitely be a wardrobe change. Secondly, her performance. She seldom does medleys, so this will be something special. Hopefully it will consist of 3 or more of her hits. I'm wondering what the song selections would be. And then, her singing. She's gotta nail this part. Now, I just can't wait.

US airplay (37,841) by nikki from usa
I understand Monday was a promotion, and since the song was heard so much, it makes sense why so many listeners downloaded. It got just under 3000 spins in 1 day, resulting in over 32 million audiance impressions. Since Monday, the airplay has dropped dramatically, where she's averaging 5-6 million in impressions and getting under 1000 spins. Which explains why her sales are beginning to go down rather than up.The exception so far has been Friday, where it did pick up a little and it's true more and more radio stations are picking up the song each day. By the hundreds actually. So, this is going to boil down to requests, it's up to the public now. Radio spins count more toward Billboard than anything else. It wouldn't kill her to promote it either.

Re: Brad (37,840) by nikki from usa
Adding on to what Edward said, I think you're looking at the playlists and the fact it's not added on because it was released on Monday. Those may not be updated until next week. Most radio stations websites have a basic format and if you are unfamiliar with it you can go up to the search bar at the far top right on the webpages. Type in the word request. It'll take you to page where you can fill out your data and name an artist/song you want to hear or simply provide you with a drop box of available songs to choose from. This week the websites are promoting J.Lo's new track.

Brad, #Beautiful airplay (37,839) by Edward from USA
Brad, #Beautiful is picking up in audience impressions steadily at a rate of 2 millions per day approximately, which is good. If your theory is right, #Beautiful should see a drastic fall in audience impressions on the second week, but I hope that's not the case. Mariah needs to be promoting a lot, since a huge chance for this single to become a hit relies on sales. She's no.13 on iTunes now, so for such huge airplay, the sales figures don't quite match. What has prevented Rihana to reach the top spot with Stay is the fact that even though she's no. 1 on Billboard airplay, and her video streaming pattern is sick good, the single is no. 57 on iTunes as of today. I hope we all keep streaming and requesting the song. A no. 1 is a no. 1, even if it's for a day only.

Beautifully excited (37,838) by Anonymous from
I loved Almost Home and I'm loving #Beautiful. Almost Home proved she can still do pop and #Beautiful proved she can still do R&B. #Beautiful is fun and summery. It sounds amazing on the radio. I think it's her best lead single since Honey. She hasn't looked this good since the E=MC2 era and she hasn't sound this good since the Daydream album. Her voice sounds strong, healthy, and confident. Mimi has got her groove back. Waiting for the new album is toture. I can't wait to hear the raw ballads she's been talking about.

Something's not right in Dodge (37,834) by Brad from USA
Hi lambs. So after Monday's blitz of #Beautiful on all Clear Channel Stations, those stations in the Hartford, CT area (all formats) no longer seem to be playing the song at all. Perhaps they played it only because corporate required stations to play it. In fact, you can't even request the song because it's not on their playlists. Is this the case in other markets too? The airplay has been weak, at best, since about 32 million audience impressions came on that first day. I fear that Mariah's perceived reputation/focus on #1s and her appearance/divadom has really alienated the industry and radio. I think only a complete overhaul of her persona (demonstrating humility and down-to-earth substance) will bring a truly new era for her career and music. I look forward to the new album and personally enjoying her music, but seriously doubt it will be wildly successful like TEOM. I would like nothing more than to be wrong about this. Be well to yourselves and each other.

Idol finale performance (37,833) by JBfly from USA
Ok what I would really like to see/hear is for Mariah to open her medley performance with the intro from UOMF. That would be totally epic. What do you think? "It's not chipped, we're not cracked, oh we're shattered."

I totally forgot about who directed ABMB and Fantsy. Thank you for refreshing my memory. Ok I will be honest. The more I watch the video, the more I'm liking it. Btw, the story you shared was special and definitely beautiful.

#Beautiful... the remixes (37,831) by Edward from USA
I can't wait for #Beautiful, the remixes. What if Mariah came up with a cool remix like the one for Thank God I Found You (Make It Last), I would be in heaven, or maybe she could shock us with a longer version of #Beautiful. I haven't been so excited about a Mariah single since It's Like That was supposedly leaked back then. Mariah sounds so crisp and young on #Beautiful, and the video reminds me of the Butterfly era. It may or may not hit the No. 1 spot, but one thing for sure, it is the hit that she so desperately needed. I personally stopped looking for quality on her videos since Through The Rain, and when I say quality, I mean a storyline like Honey, Butterfly or Heartbreaker. I enjoy her beautiful body though and take the video for what it is, a fun noncomplicated secuence of beautiful shots.

Re: JBfly (37,830) by nikki from usa
Lol - actually, it was Mariah that directed ABMB as well as Fantasy. I think fans get too obsessive about her career and technicalities that they miss the simplicity of the message at times. Yes, Mariah was being Mariah, but it's more than that. The song was about fresh young love and what we're witnessing with the video was a couple have a private, playful, flirty moment. That's what's "beautiful". It reminded me of the week I got back from work after getting married. My husband had candles lit on the floor leading to the bedroom and he picked me up to carry me to the bed. But, he wound up tripping on the carpet and I flew face first onto the bed while he fell to the floor. Real romantic. When he fell to the floor the radio came on playing some arabian song. Luckily, he was ok and I noticed scarves covering the lights. I picked them up and did a 3 scarf bellydance while he crawled on the bed with a grin and watched. By comparison, Mariah's moment was much better, but it brings happy memories when things are new and fresh.
