#Beautiful video (37,777) by jaker20 from US
So sexy and MC is so cute and gorgeous. Seriously, she looks glowing and she's even more beautiful than she was 20 years ago. I can't put into words how amazed I am that she's 40 years old. Sure, it takes a lot to maintain such beauty, skin and figure. But the huge part of it is her genetics (she's always looked young for her age and always had great skin), also her positive outlook in life. Such a proud moment to be an MC fan. I thought the video managed to be sexy and classy at the same time, and have that very summery vibe.

Well done, #Beautiful is just so beautiful! (37,776) by MaxLew from Malaysia
If you are Mariah's fan since her debut, you know this is what we want. This song is totally and completely veered from her previous effort and I've to say is so Grammy style. Somebody That I Used To Know, Lonely Boy and We Are Young. If the upcoming album has more variety of bold music like this winner, we can be sure that this is another TEOM year when she scored a total of 10 whopping nominations.

#Beautiful video is not that #beautiful (37,775) by Badr from USA
One word to describe Mariah's new video: "Yikes". I wonder if this trashy video could become detrimental to the song's performance. I hope not.

You are making an assumption that either Randy or Nick talked MC into taking the Idol job. If anyone, it was Randy, her then manager, old time friend, etc. In fact Nick was pretty much against the Idol job. Mariah knows what she is doing and she holds herself accountable for her decisions, whether she partners with others or not. All that numerology stuff is hocus pocus anyway.

I think what you just said is weird and not correct. American Idol has brought much good to Mariah. She is promoting her possibly 19th number 1 on American Idol and it will be well received. All she needs is a little push.

Mariah in the UK (37,772) by Bill from the UK
Hi Billy (good name by the way), you are right, the UK never really took to Mariah the way her home country did. She was popular and respected during the early 90s, but really since Butterfly her popularity nosedived. The only songs of hers I ever hear on the radio are Without You, Hero, I'll Be There, Endless Love and We Belong Together. And even then, they're played on adult contemporary stations. I can't fathom why she lost what was once a very large following, because although she did evolve both her image and sound, it wasn't that drastic a move away from what she was doing before, more a natural progression to keep her sound current. As for her image change, she was young and attractive (still is of course) and was not dressed that much different from her peers. I think because she was once categorised with Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand, people wanted her to stay that way.

Mariahology (37,770) by nikki from usa
It's interesting to note that in numerology, Mariah's number warns of "partnership". No matter how well intended the advice, Mariah is imbued with keen insight and logic, trusting someone else's "advice" is supposed to be the kiss of death to her. MC's natural ability will reap great rewards 9x's out of 10. The 1/10 being overly optimistic and not rooting fantasies in reality. Looking at her life this seems to hold water. Getting her career against the odds, creating hip-pop against Sony's wishes which resulted in success for her, etc. When Mariah wanted to do movies ,she wanted smaller gritty roles, but her camp convinced her to do a big release like Whitney and Barbra. She "partnered" this up with Virgin Records for the album. Alas, the movie isn't what she wanted, it bombed taking the album with it. Due to the help of a previous "partner" she'd divorced 3 years earlier. It was like the trifecta of bad partnerships. Yet, Wisegirls got rave reviews, standing ovations, and an award. Same with Precious. Mariah was pretty vocal about not wanting to do shows like AI, but then Randy and Nick talk her into it. Look how this turned out. Mariah, stick to your gut, because past experience proves it's on point.

Billy (37,769) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
The UK has never really "got" Mariah. This is true. There was a period in the 90s where she was massive. Probably the biggest female star. She was everywhere, but since then she's never been fully embraced. With that being said, when her music has been on point commercially, she has been successful. TEOM did very well in the UK for example. The bottom line is, when she gets her game into good shape, she stands some kind of chance here.

I think the music video will be similar like "Sweetheart". I guess. Sexy though.

Mariah - UK (37,767) by Billy from Greece
Why have I always had the feeling that the UK just doesn't "get" Mariah? Like, at all? I was going through some UK reviews regarding "#Beautiful" and one of them characterized the song as a "sensual ballad". Uhm... right, whatever. Not that this is the most representative example, but through the years, the UK press, UK fans or non-fans that I have discussed with, have made - in my opinion - remarks that show how misconceived Mariah is there, both as an artist and personality.

I totally get where you are coming from, in terms of AI. Whilst it's helped keep her name out there, she definitely needs to leave before they fire her for publicity and/or to blame her for the shows poor rating, rather than highlight their mismanagement. I've been critical of Mariah in the past too, and always will be if she puts out rubbish like Triumphant. Like you, it's because I know she is capable of so much more. #Beautiful is a great song and exactly what Mariah should be making. It's fresh. Even my mother was like, "it's different, I like it". It has TEOM vibes all over. I also think the reason why the album has taken so long is because after Triumphant, Mariah went back to scratch. She's probably not going to admit it, but I think she realised she had to take a different direction. All of a sudden Hit Boy and Darkchild came into the mix.

#Beautiful added by Z100, this stuff is starting now! (37,765) by John from USA
I'm still not a huge fan of the song. It's just ok for me. But I am positively stoked that Z100 (an incredibly important station) has added the song. #19, here we come.

The Butler movie (37,764) by John john from UK
I just saw the trailer, is Mariah not in this now? No mention of her at the end when showing the whole cast names. I'm gutted if she's been edited out. PS I love the new track.

Deedre / Stephen (37,763) by Stacey from USA
I love the hashtag too, lol. It's so Mariah. Stephen, I couldn't agree more with your last post. This new era reminds me so much of TEOM when promotion and the music were on point. ILT set the stage to get MC back on radio, then WBT blew radio away, lol. I see Beautiful doing the same thing. I agree, Idol has done some good in the sense it's kept MC's name in the news. But, she needs to resign the show before they throw her under the bus and fire her for the show's low ratings. Idol producers will do anything to save face. Anyway, I know I've been most critical of Mariah. It's not that I love her music less, aren't dedicated to her, etc. It's because I know she is capable of putting out great music (ala #Beautiful). This song just proves she knows how to stay relevant without looking desperate. Younger fans who love Miguel will check this song out along with us oldie-moldies who've been around for years. That kind of cross-generational reach can only lead to success. She did it with TEOM and I think she's about to do it again. Well done, Mariah. Well done.

#Beautiful (37,762) by Brad from USA
Hi lambs. I love it when MC serves us up an unexpected style on a song and keeps it fresh, like Subtle Invitation did. So is the case with #Beautiful. It sounds good on radio and works well for the pop format. It's not one that's gonna make me wanna give a mock performance from my bedroom on a rainy day, but hey, if I can hear my MC on radio again, I will take it. Speaking of radio, please keep in mind that the first day spins was a radio/corporate supported blitz and is not representative of how often the song is actually being played on a regular daily basis. The campaign to have the song heard begins now. It is a good sign that radio stations have added the song, but if you want it heard in your market, you will have to request it. Let's hope this blossoms and becomes a platform for additional songs from the upcoming album to be played on radio and enjoyed by all. Be well to yourself and others.

Ok guys listen up (37,760) by jaker20 from US
We need to support #Beautiful big time. Request on radio, stream stream stream. Buy on iTunes, gift it, send to friends, tweets, facebook, etc, etc. MC has a legit chance of hitting no.1 with #Beautiful and when was the last time we felt this? Long time coming guys. So we need to rally for the song. I want to see that 19th no. in my lifetime. Lol.

For the attention of all UK lambs! (37,759) by Hana from UK
Capital FM, Kiss 100, Radio 1 and Choice FM are major stations in London. We need more of Mariah's presence on radio out here. People are unaware of the fact that she has anything out because we are not requesting for her tune to be played. #Beautiful has great potential of being a success like "We Belong Together", it had a mass appeal. Seriously, UK lambs get requesting.

Beautiful (37,758) by Kayla Jade from United States
Well hello guys, long time no see. We are on the cusp of a new Mariah era and I am incredibly excited. I see that most of you guys love the new single, but I am a little disappointed. My main gripe is really not enough Mariah, which was a problem that I had with Triumphant. Miguel's song are notorious for being short in length and I respect that, but this song is a duet and I wanted more. They could have included a b-section or something. There is not enough "oomph" to Beautiful, which is a shame because it has so much potential to be this crazy successful pop summer anthem, and they watered it down. On the upside, how many of you guys are lusting over Mariah's vocals? My goodness, she sounds so good on this track. The blended background vocals in the middle of the song are so Emotions era and '90's. She hasn't sounded this good in years. So, all in all I'm eager to hear new singles and the new album. I'm very excited for this era.

That is hilarious. I love that line too and the way she sings it all high I feel makes it even funnier. I didn't even know that's what she was saying until I read the lyrics in the booklet and I busted out laughing.

Fresh (37,756) by Lee from UK
I have had this song on repeat ever since I downloaded it; in the kitchen, on the laptop, in the car, in the gym. It's beautiful to listen to with the top down in the sun. I really do enjoy this tune and it is definitely fresh. There is nothing like this on the radio in the UK at the moment. It's a shame the UK just don't seem to take very well to Mariah's music. Geronimo, I must conceed that I am not musical at all. I do not have a musical bone in my body, but I do know what I like to hear. As a receiver of music, I instantly get a good feeling about the things I like. If I like a song, I like to pick them apart and listen to the complexities of them, which is an enjoyable thing to do with a lot of Mariah's songs, because of her vocal layering and harmonies.

#Beautiful (37,755) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom
#Beautiful has been trending on twitter on and off for a few days now. I genuinely think the public at large are happy to hear this from Mariah, as it's refreshing, a slightly different, more adult orientated direction from her. I think the public wanted this and are excited by it. Also, perhaps her stint on AI has made her a bit more relevant within social media. Combine that with the lambs rejoicing at this song, which has restored our faith in Mariah. I love it and hearing it reminds me of how TEOM took off. I remember ILT opening the door for Mariah to be played on radio again and then WBT smashing through to push the album. The reaction to #Beautiful reminds me of how people reacted to WBT, as in people want to hear this type of stuff from Mariah. Not music where she's trying to be trendy. The whole throwback vibe has always worked for Mariah, whether that be on an uptempo track like Fantasy or most of TEOM.

I highly agree with you. I feel like that a lot when I go on message boards. I guess we are just in the wrong place. It is amazing how different a person within the industry see's things. I guess the more you know, the more different you take it. I started off only focusing on writing music arrangements, and engineering for music, but now I have also branched off into also doing sound for tv and film and theatre. It's eye opening. And people don't understand the difficulties of how everything is done. That is more exciting to me than talking about her hair. But sometimes her boobs did get in the way during the beginning of American Idol though lol.
