#Beautiful needs some promotion (38,218) by Edward from USA I am starting to get frustrated. #Beautiful is not only great but it is also the lead single. I don't understand why it has been basically left on its own since it has great potential to be around for a while. There are many key tv shows she could be using at least to talk about the single, but all we have is a perfomance taking place 20 days from now. I know some of us think that #Beautiful is maybe the It's Like That from this album, and that everything is going to play out as TEOM, but what if it doesn't play out that way? What if #Beautiful is the best single material from this album, just like Obsessed was from Memoirs? Obsessed had a rap and non rap versions, and it had six remixes. Dressing Mariah's children (38,216) by Lee from UK Now, I'm not a parent so I don't have children of my own. However, I do believe that Monroe is the worst dressed child I have ever seen. Roc is always pretty well styled by Mariah and Nick, but when it comes to Roe, they need to sort that out. You would never find Suri Cruise or the Jolie-Pitt children looking like that. The voice (38,214) by Hana from UK People are speculating that Mariah has some sort of anxiety disorder. This may explain why we catch her on occasions with a wine glass in her hand. Either that or she is really addicted to alcohol to help her get through being in the public eye. It really ruins her performances, and while I'm all for banter, I feel she shouldn't speak all over a song as it makes her performance look messy and all over the place. People have already taken digs at the lack of stage presence, I just wish she'd incorporate some degree of professionalism on stage. Mariah, or Mariah's team, if you are reading any of this, please sort it out. I wish somebody would tell Mariah about herself as it's clear she probably has a say in everything. Don't ruin jeopardise your career like this, most importantly don't lose your biggest asset - the voice. (Tuesday 11 June 2013; 13:25)

Re your post, whilst I agree that some people will click over and look back on Mariah's legacy out of curiosity, and thus admire her at her peak, I'm not certain that people will do that 9 times out of 10. I suspect the figure may be lower. However, it makes sense that in the modern age, people will be inclined to do that. Nevertheless, this only relates to people who actively look at Mariah on YouTube, and not the general public as a whole. In any event, I'm just glad we have the recordings from the early to late 90s. Mariah was a bawse back then, and her comfortableness on stage showed that she knew it. (Tuesday 11 June 2013; 13:23)

Mariah was the first artist to receive the Diamond Award because she was the first with factual stats to pass the 100 million mark in sales. Madonna's stats are based solely on shipments/certificates and not actual sales. To this day, Madonna hasn't sold that much. The RIAA gets its shipment numbers from the music labels and there was never a way to verify the honesty of those numbers. Record labels were known for inflating the number of sales for PR reasons which is why Soundscan was invented and other services like it. In the case of Madonna, she supposedly sold loads of albums until Soundscan started scanning than her sales dropped like a rock and stayed that way. The most obvious example would be her Immaculate Collection which was released in November of 1990. The label claimed it sold over 5 million before Soundscan which began March 1, 1991. In less than 4 months it supposedly sold 5 million. Soon after, her label claims it went diamond selling 10 million copies. But, Soundscan shows it took her nearly 20 years to sell those additional 5 million. Mariah's stats are verifiable where Madonna's simply aren't. #Beautiful and Rihanna (38,210) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway I really like the new song, and I don't know why it doesn't chart that well in Europe, but I'm glad it's a decent hit in the States. But I am afraid of Rihanna and all her records lately, I hope she doesn't snatch the most number ones for a solo artist titel. But can anyone answer me this, why is Mariah always introduced as the best selling female artist of all time when Madonna has sold more. Just check Wikipedia. She is the second best selling female artist of all time, it's not bad that either. I'm really looking forward to the new album, I think I will really like this new album. I can't wait for the title. Album leaks (nikki and Edward) (38,209) by Stacey from USA Edward is right. I had a 8:00 minute song full of 30 second clips of all the songs about a month before TEOM was released. I had the full album about two weeks before. I had E=MC2 two weeks before its release too. Heck, with TEOM, I had Say Somethin' a few months before the album dropped (when that song was being considered for the lead single). The song was laced with "for sample blah blah blah only". It happens. I think in the case of MOAIA, the album just wasn't up to the calibar of TEOM and E=MC2. Plus, I still think IDJ was a bit miffed she dropped promotional efforts on E=MC2. (That's not a criticism. I'd put my personal life first at that time too. Good things were happening.) It's just that from a business standpoint, IDJ was not happy. With MOAIA, besides Obsessed and a few other songs, the album was all whisper which while you as fans may like those vocals, the general public usually does not (remember Charmbracelet). Mass audiences like the voice, hence why #Beautiful is doing well. MC sings in that song and sounds great. With the digital world we live in, leaks are going to happen. (Monday 10 June 2013; 17:46)

"#Beautiful" remix Is needed and Mariah's voice (38,208) by Bobby A from United States I think Mariah should record a remix with Miguel and Kendrick Lamar or Future produced by Mike Will Made It. I feel "#Beautiful" just needs that extra boost for more radio spins. There is not anything wrong with Mariah's voice. She stills has a great instrument. Her performances are spectacular when she is comfortable with her environment. Hint: Remember when she performed on George Lopez in 2010. That performance was her best since the 2006 Grammy Awards. Mariah will have the album of the summer. I can't wait for the haters and naysayers to wake up and say Mimi is back. (Monday 10 June 2013; 17:41)

It's one of her many magic moments (looks wise) IMO. Stephane: Thanks for your feedback as well, I appreciate what you said about my posts. You raise a valid point that many people won't give MC the time or day and will write her off due to her current vocal condition. But by the same token there will also be many individuals who may like a current song by MC or better yet wonder "why people think she's so great" and will take that time to watch, let's say, a current video of her's on YouTube and by chance just so happen to see "Without You", "Vision of Love", or "Make It Happen" in that browser right next to whatever current song they're loving by her. I think it's safe to say that 9 times out of 10 they will slide that mouse over and click out of curiosity. I know I've done it before with artists I've just liked in passing or just wanted to see what was the big deal about them. That's one great thing about modern technology, it makes memory lane that much more easy and accessible. Or/also it could be a regional thing as well. Im not sure how prominent MC is in the UK, but in the USA Mariah's name is still generally still synonymous with being a top notch singer. Not to say that she won't be judge or criticized by what she does today, but I will say I've noticed that generally speaking she has managed to maintaine her legacy as one of the greats. The voice debate (38,206) by Stephen from London, United Kingdom By now, you all probably know my views on Mariah's voice, so I'm not going to continue drum on about it. Whilst I am critical of Mariah's voice in its current state, and how she's been treating it (see the glass of wine whilst walking on stage for Summer Jam), she does seem to display excellent vocal skills when singing acapella, or for concerts/shows where she is not being televised (see Sydney and Melbourne in January). Perhaps, she should then think about arranging the live versions of her song to accommodate her voice in its current state. If she sings better acapella, then maybe an acoustic version of certain songs would be better. If she can't handle the nerves on the big stage, then maybe change the song so she is comfortable singing it. I'd rather see that than another AI performance. (Monday 10 June 2013; 12:30)

Nikki / why music albums leak (38,205) by Edward from USA It is almost impossible for an album not to leak at least one or two weeks before its release date. By the time an album is available to the general public, it has already been physically produced and distributed at least a week before. In the middle of all the distribution process, thousands of people other than the record label executives get to lay their hands on the album, even if it is only to package them for distribution. I personally got my physical copy of TEOM two weeks before. This is going to keep happening as long as we have the internet and physical CDs. Once CDs completely disappear, then it would be a different story. That's why Mariah had complete control over when #Beautiful was released. (Monday 10 June 2013; 3:45)

Memoirs tricks (38,204) by nikki from usa I had forgotten how Memoirs was leaked 2 weeks before its release date. That seriously impacted how her sales did, since people were downloading it for free and they were never able to plug up the leak. It was one of her most critically acclaimed albums and I think it would have done far better otherwise. Because of what happened with Memoirs, I think that's why Mariah is being so secretive about this album. She's been far more open in the past, but far more hush-hush this time around. Voice and age (38,199) by TJ (38,202) by Giselle #1 Mariah Critic from USA I agree. I've noticed on a lot of pics Mariah has posted on Instagram that she drinks a lot. That easter pic of her with the kids, a glass is right in front of her lol. The limo ride to Hot 97? A glass in her hand lol. I kinda think Eminem was on to something when he said she drinks a lot. All that alcohol isn't good for your voice. Notice when she was pregnant her voice was the strongest it's been in years. Mariah needs to hire a vocal coach and take better care of her voice. She doesn't get much sleep either, her crazy hours she works. Oh and the way she was laughing I'm pretty sure a splash was in that sippy cup be hide the scenes of #Beautiful. Will.i.am / Mariah and the artist within (38,201) by Edward from USA Wil.i.am made a very unnecessary comment. He doesn't even deserve the attention. People need to be careful about comparing singers to Mariah. Mariah is not only about the voice, but about the way she uses it. Some may know how to paint, but artistry comes from within not from techniques. Mariah just happens to have them both plus a not-less-important ingredient called charisma. Leona Lewis was hailed the next Mariah according to Simon, but a great voice and hitting notes haven't quite done it for her. Mariah may not have the voice she had, but she's still a true artist in so many other ways. If she were to completely lose her voice and the money she has, she would be just fine by producing and writing. My ears haven't experienced vocal layering like Mariah does. If we pay close attention to the vocals in the background on any of her songs, we would realize how great of an artist she is. (Sunday 9 June 2013; 18:54)

Will.I.am / Mariah's voice (38,200) by Joe from United Kingdom Yes, Mariah's voice is not the same, but when people make statements like her voice is gone/shot, it's abit ridiculous. Mariah's voice then and even now is still unmatched because of her tone alone. Nobody can touch that. If you give a 20 year old a basic note or phrase to sing, Mariah will sound a lot better singing it, because her dynamics and tone are just one of a kind. I have to agree that maybe she should stop making her songs so hard to sing live. I actually like it when notes on the studio track are left more raw and raspy. It adds more feeling to the song for me. Will. Why is Mariah ever gonna wish she sounded like anyone else when she herself practically set the standard of what is a great female vocalist. Voice and age (38,199) by TJ from Norway How on earth do some people think that the age of 43 is old when talking about the female voice? People on this board have said things like that since the beginning (when Mariah was only in her 20's, early 30's). Let's call a spade, a spade. Her voice has changed, and it's not only because she sings a lot. George Michael has not lost his voice, Freddy Mercury had his voice untill the end, Aretha still has a strong voice (and she is at that age, where her voice has been touched by the ageing). Celine Dion has a stronger voice, and she perform a lot more than Mariah. I think Mariah should make songs that fits her current voice. Not try to recapture old moments. I totally agree with what you've said, with the exception of your point on her legacy. For us lambs, we can always look at her old performances, and you're right, we know that nobody can touch that voice when it was at its best, but for casual fans/listeners, they don't think so much of yesterday, but in the here and now, and quite easily slag her off. I've heard my friends, who as casual fans, have been out off by her voice in recent years. Nevertheless, you are totally spot on, just because the chick he referred to has a voice in better condition, it doesn't mean she's a better singer. She's not. Not even close. She'll be nobody in 2 months. Stacey hit the nail on the head, and she's right, I'm just gonna ignore such a comment. At the end of the day the show is flopping in the UK, so it's not hard to figure out why he's trying to draw attention to himself and his act. On a side note, I don't rate him as a producer. Will.I.Am slams MC (38,197) by Stacey from USA When a person slams someone with MC's resume (18 #1 hits, #1 albums, countless top 10 hits, over 200 million records sold, etc), it's simply jealousy. Pure jealousy. While artists may come close to tying MC's 18 #1 hits, no one will ever come close to selling as many records as Mariah. Chalk it up to jealousy and move on. Implants make your boobs bigger, but not the rest of you. Renee Zelewegger gained the same amount of weight to play Bridget Jones and her boobs, along with the rest of her, were huge. After Renee lost the weight, she went back to her stick figure boobless self. Mariah was a stick figure when she came out, she gained a healthier weight which enhanced her assets, but because she kept covered, no one paid any mind. Mariah Carey is a C cup. For those of us who have her 2003 calendar or are familiar with the pics taken in the Philipinnes and especially those of her topless with her dog on the beach from 2008 would notice Mariah isn't all that busty. She has natural tear drop shaped breasts. She discovered push up bras and gel fillers while photographers discovered photoshop. As someone who spent years in the cleavage department, let me tell you. There are pushups you can wear with gel fillers that take up the majority of the cup. Only a quarter of the boob will actually fit in there, so the rest of your breasts are smashed to the chest creating huge swells. It looks like your cup size has doubled.
