Mariah & Keith (37,166) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
I think they both look good together on Idol. I'm watching Idol this year definitely because of both of them. Mariah is getting huge exposure right now. Looking forward to hear studio version of Bring It On Home, and Hope Street (rumoured to be her new comeback single).

Being on time for auditions / out and about in NYC (37,165) by Licia from USA
This might be weird, but I'm really proud of Mariah for being on time for the auditions. With the exception of the last episode, she's been there. You all know she has problems with being fashionably late. Lol. As for what she had on recently in NYC, you can't make everyone happy so you might as well do what makes you happy. She could have covered everything up and people would have still found something wrong. No win situation.

Greatest hits (37,164) by M from USA
Mariah on Idol has caused her Greatest Hits to reappear on Billboard 200 abum chart. I'm excited for the new single announcement.

"If you want a diva, sometimes you've gotta pay the price" (37,162) by Lee from UK
Another classic Mariah quote. This one is up there with "If she called me something that begins with a 'B' and ends in an 'itch', I rebuke it." Seriously though, as much as Nicki's talking voice annoys me, she is certainly trying to be a good judge and putting in the effort. It wouldn't surprise me if she was the only one kept on for next year. I hope Mariah puts on a good show for the live rounds. On another note, as much as I love Mariah's curly hair, I think she always looks stunning with straight hair.

We should all know (37,161) by Lee from USA
Mimi doesn't give a crap about the fashionistas of the world. Life's too short to lose sleep on what some [...] or [...] thinks about your outfit. I enjoyed the warm weather, too.

Fashion (37,160) by Stacey from USA
Sometimes MC gets it so right and somedays she gets it oh so wrong. Oy, the outfit out and about in NYC is one of those misses. Yet, she hits the mark pretty good on AI so far. I just can't wait for warmer weather myself. The sun came out today for the first time in weeks and it felt so good.

Outfit in NYC (37,159) by Leito from USA
I love you MC, but the outfit is not cute. It shows the stomach you have and it makes it look like you have no butt. I expect so much more from you. P.S. I saw the top of your Spandex showing between your breast, last night on AI.

Fashion (37,158) by Ray from Malaysia
I love to see Mariah appearing on AI with all those colorful dresses, especially green, because she rarely wears green. I can't wait for the live shows. I can't wait for the new music.

Nicki (37,156) by Ryan from the Philippines
I like how Nicki comments, but I'm just disgusted with the type of personality she has. Sometimes I feel like she is a stage-hugger and bossy and irritating. So, when the time the table flared up and she felt like Randy also took sides with Mimi, she just couldn't take it because it striked her ego. I hope what Mariah told her of helping the contestants instead of talking about outfits was enough to shut her up. And Mimi, I love you for throwing shades at her, whether intensionally or subconsciously lol (e.g. "we're (Mariah and contestant) both Cinderella and she (Nicki) is the evil sister" and "his hat is like from a cartoon character", then looks at Nicki and realizes the rapper is wearing a weird hat too). That I-don't-really-mean facial expression of hers. So hilarious. Lol.

Edward from USA (37,155) by CDC from CA
I've noticed that Nicki has appointed herself as the unofficial "head judge" as well. Maybe it's in her nature to take command over others, or maybe it's rooted from an insecurity based on the number of contestants in awe of Mariah's presence. Either way, I find her irritating. I probably wouldn't be half as annoyed if her voice wasn't so loud and strident. I can see how people find her cute, but I just don't buy into it. So, if Nicki was the problem to begin with, then Mariah should've quit, returned the $18 million and began production on that stage adaptation of her Christmas album, or written those children's books, or released that charity single, or even acted in another movie. Does anyone actually believe that scouring talent is her objective with this Idol stint? (Especially after saying for years that she could/would never judge others in this type of format?) There is success and relevancy outside the pop charts, and I'm sure there are thousands of other projects that would be more beneficial than Idol.

Deedre / Nicki vs. Mariah (37,154) by Stacey from USA
Awww, you beat me to the "Nick" joke, lol. It's easier to type Nikki vs. Nicki with the "c". I totaly get your last post. I'm glad they blew up during the audition process and not during the lives shows. Who knows, it may happen there too, lol. Heaven knows I've got my fair share of situations I wish I could have handled differently. Randy Jackson and MC are long time friends. There is that established relationship there. RJ is an experienced judge on AI. Keith Urban is a legend amongst country loyalists. Then there is Minaj. What does she add to the group? And in that question lies why she does what she does. She feels inferior, jealous. Ever been around that person in your own personal lives that has to fight for attention? Doesn't that get annoying? When you're talking, they talk louder to be heard. Minaj is doing this job as a career advancement while MC/Randy/Urban have earned their stripes already and have nothing to prove. They genuinely care about the contestants and their futures. So Minaj constantly feels the need to put herself in the spotlight no matter the consequences.

Nicki (37,153) by George Golden from UK
Nicki on Ai is just a joke. She acts likes she's the boss of everyone else. She is blatantly jealous of Mariah, because she knows she's not on Mariah's level. She is very disrespectfull to Mariah. I don't see why folks on this page should support Nicky at all.

Mariah as a judge on AI, X-Factor case, Nicki stealing spotlight (37,151) by Edward from USA
I have to agree with some of you that Nicki's comments on the contestants are more assertive and interesting than Mariah's, and that makes me mad. Nicki always comes across as the one in charge stealing the spotlight. I hope for some balance when it comes to that in the following shows. On the X Factor, they thought Britney Spears would bring it, but instead the judge (Demi Lovato) who was practically there as a filler delivered better than her, I'm praying this is not the case here. I know the auditions are a means to decide who makes it to Hollywood or not, but at the same time we need to hear a little bit more about Mariah's expertise, and less from Nicki. I know she just want to be sweet and all, but the naive princess persona she's portraying just reminds me of her acting in Glitter. A friend called me yesterday to tell me that he won't be watching the show anymore, because he thinks that Nicki should have some respect for Mariah, that her eyes rolling thing every time Mariah talks is very disrespectful given the Mariah's legend status, and I do agree with that. I hope Mariah jumps out of that sinking ship before it brings her down with it next year.

Stacey/the fued (37,150) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I agree on the diva thing, but I am not too worried. She left it at the door last time she mentored. Most of the time when she gets dramatic, I really just think she's being silly and it's her way of goofing off and making a situation lighter and less about making something about her. There's the odd time she takes it a bit far lol, but I really feel she wants this to be about the singers not her. The "fued" could have been handled better on all sides. 1) The press blew it way out of proportion and did what they normally do when two famous women are involved, made it about the women. Randy was very much in there too, but no one is chewing him out. It's the Nick and Mariah feud lol. 2) Mariah is not perfect and yes she was defensive, after several days of obvious digs from Nick, I think she just got to the point where she'd had enough. I've had moments in my life where I wish I'd handled something better. We're all human and sometimes when someone is taking obvious shots at you, you can only hold in your feelings for so long. It's probably a good thing the little incident happened early. I hope that everyone can start to let it go.

Nicki Minaj (37,149) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
Is it so hard to write Nicki's name right? I've seen Niki and Nikki, next someone writes her name as Nick.

AI (37,148) by JBfly from USA
Are we all watching the same show? As far as I'm concerned, I don't see any difference with Mariah and Nikki's critique or evaluation on most contestant. The only difference I notice is that Nikki is trying to hog the attention all to herself. Most of the time when Mariah is giving constructed criticism, the show always has to go to Nikki and see her rolling her eyes (not that Mariah hasn't done it but Nikki has done it the most). And I totally agree with Lee from the USA. When Mariah gets aggressive, she becomes a diva beotch, and when she becomes passive, she comes out as boring. And as for the fight. We all know that they edited the whole thing. They didn't show what transpired after Nikki left the panel. And for Nikki to single out Mariah and Randy was plain stupid on her part. How come she didn't get pissed off at Keith when he was the one ticked off at what the girl said? I'm sure something else happened that made crazy Nikki to blow up from the leaked video they released awhile back. I really do think that Nikki is just jealous of Mariah. Nikki might be owning the show according to some, but Mariah is getting most of the praises from most contestants who come to audition. Let's all wait for the live shows and see what happens. For now, let's all "spread our wings" and enjoy the show.

Not fooled by Nicki (37,147) by RadChad from United States
During the altercation Nicki first tried the call Mariah and Randy out by saying "All you do is make comments about people in pop culture all day non stop." Now why was it necessary for her to say that? Then she said that "I feel that you all are forcing them to lie about the type of music they want to do." How is that when the girl already said she considers herself "country soul". Everybody agreed the girl had a great voice and said "yes" before Nicki when on her tangent. All she had to do is voice her opinion without attacking and others. Also I don't think Nicki gives better critique than Mariah. I think Nicki is just being "extra" and trying to prove herself. So that's why she hogs the spotlight, always trying to speak first, and purposely tries to one up Mariah during judging. I'm not impressed with her because it comes across as pretentious. Mariah comes across poised and confident and if I were a contestant, I would value Mariah's opinion more. It's the opposite for me, I loved Nicki before Idol, I always liked her personality and thought she was smart. Now, I see through her, she doesn't have me fooled.

It's funny (37,146) by Lee from USA
I don't see how anybody could take Nicki's side over Mimi's when the majority of people who regularly watch AI and the press says Nicki is being a clown. Do anybody read the messageboards at other websites? Nicki may be entertaining, but she is saying nothing. Mimi is being something that is lost on people like Wendy Williams and her critics, and it is called being professional. Do people forget that when our girl is assertive, she gets slammed as a "diva-beast"? If she doesn't assert herself, she gets slammed as boring. I wish people would make up their minds.

MC on Idol (37,145) by Randy from USA
I have to agree with Lee and CDC. Nikki's critique right now is way better and far more interesting than MC's. I thought Mariah was going to be more technical and give useful feedback. Considering she has a vocal doctor, has had vocal coaches as background singers and her mom is an opera singer, MC knows everything about the human voice. To me she is just giving commentary and not critique and Nikki is coming off more useful than MC. I will say this though: part of the reason for the fued is Nikki is grabbing and hogging the spot light on this panel and I think this is why MC doesn't want her there. I think MC should become more assertive and less passive aggressive and then Nikki might quiet down. I'm starting to like Nikki now and that surprises me.

Idol (37,144) by Licia from USA
Nicki actually did have a good point, but so did Randy and Mariah. My problem with Nicki is that she threw a tantrum over nothing and she walked away. I can understand her being offended, but I would have never let Mariah or Randy see me sweat.

Mariah on Idol / Deedre (37,143) by Stacey from USA
Normally I've always skipped the audtion shows. I never cared about the show untill the finalists were chosen. This time around I tuned in to see MC as a judge and of course to check out the drama between Nicki and Mariah. I thought MC did great. However, the audition shows are so scripted, it's hard to read each judge. Know what I mean? I think we'll get a good sense of how the panel works as a whole when it's live. You can't hide much then. Deedre, I totally agree with all your posts about MC's judging style. I can't wait for the live shows. I think that's when she'll really shine. Though, I hope she controlls the "diva" stuff, lol. You all know what I mean? That's said with love.

Defending Niki (37,142) by Nattalie from USA
Are you guys for real? How could you side with Mariah completely on this? Like I said, Mariah was right, but she was killing that girl with her words. I watched it twice and it was crazy both times. First Keith Urban made that aweful face after the girl said she likes country, then Mariah added fuel to the flame saying, he didn't like what you said and then laughed. Then Mariah tried to explain but failed. Then Randy made it even worse with his statements. They were picking that girl appart like a frog. I would have hated to have sounded that great but still got picked at at the audition. Do I get to go to Hollywood or not? On top of that, Randy had that questionable hmmm I don't know about you, but I guess I'll give it a try. The issue was, it wasn't that big of a deal, but it was blown up. Niki was right when she said watch the tape. And Mariah added on and said, "So that's what you do? You watch the tape every night?" They were treating that girl as if she had missed a note or cracked.

Idol (37,141) by RibbonB from USA
Nicki on Idol is a waste of time and energy. If producers think she is an asset, well it's really time to end this show on TV. I hope they actually get a decent singer out of this whole process, but Nicki Minaj and her drama was old before the show even started. I look forward to the live shows, but the audition part was always a bore IMO and nothing new this time.
