I think "The One" would've stood out more at the time because "Boy" was already huge with Cam'Ron alone. Singles should've been: 1. Through the Rain on Top 40/Pop/AC/Dance and the remix with Kelly Price and Joe on R&B and Urban 2. The One/ The One (remix) 3. Boy 4. I Know What You Want 5. Bringing on The Heartbreak 6. Miss You

I was so ticked off when they switched the single choice from The One to Boy. I like Boy, but The One is high on my list of favorites from CB. I can't say rather one would have done better than the other. The One was a better choice for me.

Oh my, be careful MC. I've lost 60 lbs in just over a year and even I have to watch the candy or work out more to even out what I've eaten. So hard. Twix and 3 Musketeers are so hard to resist, lol. Stephen, totally true. I wish more MC fans had that "maturity". Thank you.

Fashion Police (36,585)
by Stephen from London, United Kingdom

Did anyone see Fashion Police on tv this week? It was a 1992 special, and they counted down the top 5 looks of 1992, and Mariah Carey was the number 1 must see look of 1992. They crowned her best dressed of the week for her 1992 AMAs outfit. They normally shade Mariah hard on Fashion Police, but they cheered her throughout. I can only assume it was a high five being thrown at her because of the whole Minaj incident. They still shaded her a little, but they do that with everyone on Fashion Police. Mariah looked banging btw. It was a sexy little number too. Not one of her high necked Tommy M requests.

MOAIA/new album (36,581)
by Jenny from USA
| |

I thought Memoirs was a solid album, it might've not had the smash singles everyone wanted, but it was good music which lacks today in radio. I don't know why everyone is so up in arms about a picture of Mariah and the Dream. He is the VP of A&R at Def Jam, so he's obviously overseeing what Mariah has come up with at least. As far as the new album is concerned, I think Mariah knows that this album will make or break her. The stage is set for another comeback. I hope the first single is a big ballad. If the ballad becomes a smash, then we are in for another EOM era . The new single probably won't come out till around January to fall in place with AI, so for now I'm just patiently waiting; I have faith in our girl.

I loved MOAIA (36,580)

I am often surprised to hear people say they think the songs on the album all sound the same. For me, it was my favorite release since Butterfly, and that's saying a lot since there's something to love IMO about all her albums. I am still disappointed it wasn't given more promotion and backing from the label. No problem with me to colab with The Dream again.

Instead of Greatest Hits (36,578)
by Will from England

Why not create our own version of the "The Very Best Of" list, for the 2000s. Mine would be: 1) I Only Wanted 2) Never Too Far 3) Boy (I Need You) 4) Say Somethin' 5) Angels Cry 6) Sunflowers for Alfred Roy 7) Circles 8) Side Effects 9) Standing O 10) Triumphant (Vintage Throwback Mix) 11) Lead The Way 12) H.A.T.E.U 13) There Goes My Heart 14) I'm That Chick 15) Migrate 16) Reflections 17) I Wish You Well I tried to use songs that non-fans would not know, rather than go with the usual suspects.

The Nightmare (36,577)
by Zachary from Croatia
| |
|

I really don't like The Nightmare, because his sound is just not good enough for Mariah. I don't know why she is so hung up on him and his producer skills. From MOAIA, I only listen to Obsessed and Betcha Gonna Know. Other is just not good. From E=MC2, I only listen to I'll Be Loving You Long Time and that's it. I adore Glitter, it was ahead of its time.

Trends (36,575)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
Jamie, JLo never set trends IMO and Madonna hasn't set one since her heyday in the 80's. If then, Mariah does her own thing and continues to innovate and even if she replicates that's ok, because she's still one of the best. Adele isnt setting trends, she is just having her moment and that's just fine for her. Mariah has been there and done that too. I'm hoping for more Mariah timeless music, not necessarily trendy music. She is above all the simple stuff popular today. Even when she plays it down, her stuff is better than the schlock, which is one of the reasons TMB was her 18th number one, even if some think it was beneath her. Dream could sit out another CD, for my tastes, but I imagine they will have a good song.

Greatest hits 2.0 (36,574)
by M from USA
| |

I can't see Loverboy making the cut because of its response; 99 cents to get it to #2 on the Hot 100. The Virgin years are in the past. I also think the covers to make the cut would have had to be a massive hit, although IWTKWLI at least made the top 10 on the A/C chart in the US. I bet we would all have our own version of a track list. Lol.

Videos (36,573)
by M from USA

|

Yes, I have to agree that the music videos is a repeat of the same. Mariah is always laying down in her videos. Lame in my opinion. I miss the days when artists would come out with a killer first single from using directors Mark Romanek and Sophie Muller. They both have such creative minds. I do love the Barbie doll concept for Up Out My Face, even though everyone called it a target commercial. Nick did good with that one. Triumphant could have been awesome, but it lacked with its original concept; boxing match. It was more about MC in the ring and then the usual backstage walking away and turning around, strutting her stuff. More of the same.

The new album (36,572)
by Licia from USA
| |
|
|
Throughout her whole career I never paid much attention to who produced the music or who helped write the music. All I care about is that the music is good. I'm not fond of The Dream and with the exception of a few songs, Memoirs has never been a fav of mine, but The Dream has made some good songs with Mariah. I hope that they can make a good song or two. I'm not going to get upset with her working with him again until I hear what they come up with. They may surprise us and come up with something great.

Memoirs/M&M (36,570)
by Jamie from UK
| |
|
|
Memoirs flopped for the same reason E=MC2 flopped, poor single choices and poor promotion (the crappy music videos did not help either). They're not my favorite albums, but I know they had potential to be bigger than they were. But oh well, too late now. Yes M&M, it would be nice if Mariah spiced up her appearance. She's had the same blond extensions since 2002; a makeover may cause renewed interest in her. Black hair like Bianca maybe? Lol it would be interesting because it's so unexpected from her. As for JLo, she managed to get the biggest hit of career so far aged 42, because she conformed with the times and released a very current dance record. Usually the over 40s stick the formula they've been using several years. The other exception to the over 40 club is Madonna, who's managed to score some big hits even in her 40s and 50s. Those two artists have realized that they can't set trends anymore, so they follow them. David Guetta, Rihanna, Adele, etc are setting the trends now.

Memoirs/The Dream (36,568)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
To be honest, I'm not disappointed she's working with The Dream. I liked Memoirs and was surprised that one producer could put together an album with different sounds. I loved MC's time with Wally A, but weren't Just To Hold You Once Again and All I Ever Wanted and When I Saw You and Whenever You Call all the same song? Isn't My All, After Tonight, and I Only Wanted the same song with three different producers? Mariah was the common thread and she was probably repeating the Spanish guitar formula. I think MC will put together a great album; she never hasn't. She may not get a #1. The singles choices may suck, the promotion may suck, the fashion may suck and even the live performances may suck. But I will bet my entire retirement account the album won't and isn't the music what's most important?

MOAIA/ The legacy continues (36,566)
by RadChad from United States
| |
|
|
I'm agreeing with everyone that loved "Memoirs". She had so many great songs that I still listen to on the daily: "Becha Gon Know" (awesome), "Candy Bling" (stone groove), "Hate U", "Inseperable", "Its A Wrap", "Languishing" along "The Impossible", "Angels Cry". I believe many have just simply slept on this album. Grant it to do want MC to constantly branch out musically, but I actually believe one or two tracks from The Dream could be a nice touch. So far we know Rodney Jerkins and R. Kelly has also contributed to the album, so I'm not too worried about the album not sounding fresh. I believe Mariah has heard us out, so let's just see where she takes us with the new ballad before we go in.
