MC x AG (105,355) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
There's rumors going on that Ariana is releasing a remix of "yes, and?" with Mariah next week. I will believe it when I see it but Ariana did tease that even though she won't release anymore singles until the album is out she has a surprise planned. Honestly I don't know what Mariah can really benefit from being on "yes, and?". The song already hit #1 and Mariah being on the remix probably won't add much to her credit. I guess we'll know next week if this is indeed true. I'm here for any new Mariah content haha but honestly I'm ready for her own releases and wish of MC did collab with Ariana it's on a song that has her on the original version.

Ahah this is actually an older response and I found it hilarious. This was when I think last year he talked about never saying never to a reconciliation with Mariah.

Article: Miley Cyrus fangirls over fellow M.C. Mariah Carey (105,353) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
2017 was a good 7 years earlier and Miley was a lot younger. She might have since then realized she misspoke and that Mariah is a songwriter and storyteller first and then everything else. I can understand that from personal experience. I didn't know Mariah's work well, infact I was a Westlife fan and one day I hear the Against All Odds collaboration (this was years later after its release, I was a going through my pre teen boy band phase) I was like who is this singer she has a beautiful voice, cut to the MTV Cribs episodes and I was annoyed how many times Mariah was changing and being over the top (I hadn't yet realized her sense of humor). I finally became a lamb during TEOM and then worked my way backwards on her previous releases including replaying the Cribs episode because it was iconic. Once I realized how much Mariah is involved in her music and how she's a songwriter and producer and how she lives and breathes music I was blown away. I was obsessed with finding her re-recorded remixes, checking out her lyrics and all that jazz. It took me more time to realize all the insane layers to her artistry. What matters to be is on stage and in front everyone Miley gave Mariah the utmost respect and the butterfly anecdote to me means she really understood the depth to Mariah's work. Also I can see where her previous comment came from. Even Mariah said she isn't taken seriously as a songwriter. And we all know casual listeners know of her personality before they know about her art. Plus her "shades" go viral everytime. Basically her personality eclipses her art until you actually take the time to see what otherworldly talent she possesses.

It is not as bad as Infinity. Save The Day takes its place. I don't want her ever to put away a JD collaboration and start working on it again 5 years later. His songs have to be completed during the recording sessions.

For me 100% is at the bottom of the barrel. I barely listened to it a couple of times. Makes Infinity sound like a #1.

Ah yes Cruise Control was way ahead of its time. The whole laid back island vibes. Rihanna later had many hits with the same vibe.

Article: Miley Cyrus fangirls over fellow M.C. Mariah Carey (105,345) by maleRN from USA
"Miley Cyrus has never been afraid of spilling some tea and speaking her mind, so it didn't reaaally surprise us when she threw some Mimi shade. Miley spoke to Elle US about 'seeing through her shtick'. 'I've never really been a fan, because it's so much about Mariah Carey,' she said. 'That's part of her shtick, I can see through that.' But she didn't stop there. 'That's part of what makes her a gay icon, like, it's about Mimi. It's about what she's wearing, and it's about her. What I make isn't about me. It's about sharing my story, it's about someone being connected to what I'm saying.' Damn." Reported in Cosmopolitan 2017.

Do you all remember Mariah's song 100%? I randomly started singing this in my head today. I was curious, what were your thoughts on this song, has it changed since you first heard it 14 years ago?

Oh no I love those songs. I think there were other possible hits too like Side Effects, IBLYLT (if promoted properly), ITC. Love Story too if she did the stripped down version that she did for was it VH1 or MTV.

I also love the Triumphant remixes. The vibe, so motivating. I used to listen to it every day while commuting in rush hour traffic. Triumphant needs to be on The Rarities part two.

E=MC2 (105,339) by Bobby A from United States
I don't know why I feel that E=MC2 was an album that was rushed and probably should have been released in 2009. Songs like Love Story, Thanx 4 Nothin, Last Kiss, Bye Bye and O.C.C. were all filler songs. There were only three potential top 5 Hot 100 songs Migrate, For The Record, and of course the #1 hit Touch My Body.

Triumphant (105,334) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I'm once again back to express my love for Triumphant. Everytime I listen to it I'm like what a wasted song, should have done better on the charts. The song is so uplifting, catchy, each artist's verses add to the message of the song. I know people didn't like it because Mariah was almost a feature on her own song which was a lead (later termed buzz) single, but overall until this date the song aged well and still gives me goosebumps.

My All live in Sydney, second night (105,332) by MC1989 from Spain
I have just listened to this gem. This is the kind of rarities and material that we die-hard fans want her to include on her reissues. The Butterrly Tour has some of her biggest live gems of her career. The little audio clip circulating on YouTube of "Vanishing", sung impromptu during the Butterfly tour is simply incredible. One of her best and most moving songs, by the way. The emotion that Mariah gives off in her phrasing, in her enunciation, in the way she sings. She was really interpreting the lyrics of the song.

During this tour his voice began to suffer noticeably, probably due to lack of technique and the bad habits often mentioned in this forum. And these live shows perfectly capture that vital moment that was so important to her. She still had a very privileged voice, a richness of textures and nuances like few mainstream singers had back then and to this day, I dare say. Agility combined with emotion. Which is what most current singers lack, emotion. I prefer a thousand times something that is not one hundred percent correct and perfect but that goes through you and makes you feel, which is what music is for, and not something millimetrically calculated and studied, neat and correct but lacking in emotion.

The Butterfly era represents a Mariah more alive than ever at a crucial point not only in her career but also at a vital moment of complete change. She was going to therapy, taking acting classes as she describes in her autobiography, renting a flat in New York where she spent time alone without a permanent glam squad. In short, gaining her independence, venturing out to meet new people, throwing herself into love affairs (Derek Jeter) and receptive to change; showing us her own change, her own emergence, after years of feeling controlled and corseted. All these changes in her personal life, in that very specific moment of life that she was going through in 96-97, decisive but ephemeral at the same time, are captured in Butterfly. It's normal that Mariah still feels that this album is her most personal and her favourite. I think at that time she was very connected to the world, to her own experience and that crucial moment of having to define a sound or a style of her own, knowing that she was going to be judged and observed more than ever after her divorce with the great music mogul at that time.

P.S. The only thing that makes me a bit angry about this wonderful "My All" - just like the one she performed in Perth, whose video has been on YouTube since last year and is another gem - is that the first chorus is a playback, because that airy, almost whispered voice of the first chorus is tremendously difficult to do live and with the acoustics of a big concert. But she could have modified it and done it differently. In any case, My All's performances during this time are magical.
