Re: Butterfly 25 (101,205) (101,206) by Edward from USA
Writing a song for someone doesn't necessarily mean you have to make a demo of it. Just like there's not a demo for "Where Are You Christmas", I don't think there are demos for those songs either.

Mariah stated, back when she released "The Rarities", that she had used everything from the "Butterfly Sessions" that's why anything from that era was absent on it.

Since she said she got her voice back during the pandemic, I hope to hear some awesome studio vocals on some of these new tracks. According to what you see on the promo, it's a 2-CD set, probably one with the original album and the second with the bonus material. At this point, I'm happy we're getting some new music building up to Christmas.

Re: Butterfly 25 (101,200) (101,205) by BFF from United States
What's interesting is that Billboard is reporting it as "eight new tracks from the Butterfly sessions", which makes it sound like we are getting songs from the vault.

Re: Butterfly 25 (101,200) (101,204) by BFF from United States
I was hoping for "vault" recordings rather than re-recordings of songs from the 1997 track listing with other artists. Surely, she has "demo" versions of songs like "Make You Happy", "Last Chance", "Head Over Heels", et cetera. But, hey, I guess we should be grateful for whatever we receive

Sounds promising. Will there be an official CD release or just streaming? Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

Re: The Butterfly Lounge (101,197) (101,201) by CMC from NY,NY
I started to feel like the Butterfly Lounge was not getting backing from a record label or streaming service. Mariah was so excited and giddy, the most she's been about a project in years. In several of those Twitter Lives she stated something like, what I'm working on is unlike anything anyone's ever done and she didn't want to give anything away in case someone stole her ideas. Now there's not a peep about it. It feels like ageism from the corporate morgue that in their minds Mariah won't have new studio album success again. In the Megan Markle podcast Mariah used 3 words to describe how she was feeling and one word was "angry". Felt like that's stemming from the project maybe being squashed. Feels like any new non Christmas music she wants to put out might not be backed by the label. Everything is legacy. I'm also confused and thought months ago if the Butterfly Lounge was just the tracks she's been reworking for Butterfly 25 and there aren't even two separate projects? That would be a total bummer. It's all been so jumbled and vague. I'm happy about the bonus tracks we're getting for Butterfly 25, but I can't help think if the label ageism is all true it's so upsetting and depressing for Mariah. It's sexist too.

Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, or Bruce Springsteen don't have pushback about their age. They see her as a cash cow at Christmas and that's it. It's stifling the massive creativity that she still has to offer and wants to put out. Mariah needs to flip the script and work a contract where she agrees to annual (but minimal ) Christmas appearances , a special here and there and live concerts in NYC. Use the annual gift of her Christmas legacy to her benefit that she will make the money during Christmas but give them an ultimatum she needs to have full support/label backing and promo when she wants to do non Christmas music projects through the other 11 months of the year. The Queen of Christmas is so much more and there's no one that knows that more than Mariah. They're making her into a caricature surround Christmas and it's trapping and pigeon holing one of the most diverse artist/singer/songwriter in history. There's been a shift since she's stopped talking about "The Butterfly Lounge". Maybe 2023 for a proper full new studio album.

Message from Liron from her team. So they will not be recordings from the vault, those don't exist. I think they will be reimagined versions with the other artists that she was working with like the Clark Sisters.

I hope Last Chance is one of the eight bonus track (101,199) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
I really really hope Last Chance would be one of the eight bonus tracks. Imagine Mariah singing the song with Whenever You Call or My All voice. Wow.

The Butterfly Lounge (101,197) by Edward from USA
As I said, "The Butterfly Lounge" project should've been cooked and ready so be served by now. The following is an excerpt of an interview she had back in December 2021

Expanding on the other projects she's cooking, she more excitedly added: "I'm working on this thing called the 'Butterfly Lounge,' and it's basically me creating music. So you're watching me talk to the guitar player, talk to the bass player and tell them, like, 'Here are the notes I want to hear, blah blah blah.' We're writing, and you're watching the process of me writing. So I think we'll find whatever streaming service is the best for this. We've been doing this for the whole year because I got my voice back. And we were at home and we didn't have to run around and do all this nonsense, y'know? We're also working on the adaptation of the memoir. But that's something else."

Re: Atlanta home (101,191) (101,196) by Edward from USA
Mariah had been working on the Butterfly Lounge for a long long time without distractions. She wasn't touring, she had plenty of time to put it together. I think she'll drop whatever she cooked pretty soon.

Mariah also said her boobs augmentation was due to push-up bras. She couldn't keep on denying it when her boobs came out of the closet. At this point in her career/life, 52 or 53 is all the same. Lol.

Re: Blood Orange (101,186) (101,187) by Edward from USA
I've seen Mariah at the Beacon Theater 3 times, but since they kind of discovered she could do a venue 20 bigger than that, I don't think we'll see her at the Beacon Theater doing the Christmas show ever again. Mariah is big on Christmas hence her Christmas shows do so well. I think she'll try to capitalize on them as much as she can.

Blood Orange (101,186) by Mara from United States
So I took my daughter and some friends to see Harry Styles at Madison Square Garden last night and to my surprise, Blood Orange was the opening act. They were amazing and it was a great treat to see Dev do his thing live on the big stage. My daughter became a fan last night and is downloading music as we speak. The last time I was at MSG was pre Covid for the 25th Anniversary show for AIWFCIY and Dev Hynes was sitting 6 seats away from me in the center floor section with Tessa Thompson. It just made me miss seeing Mariah live and especially seeing her in New York at Christmas. It's too bad she wouldn't consider doing a night or two at The Beacon again in December. Those shows were so nice and there was something so magical about them, esp the pre Nightmare era ones. The first two years at the Beacon were the best. If Mariah ever were to go back on live stages, I think that would be a nice step for her as they are more intimate and a smaller scale and in NY. Going from seeing MC to Harry Styles is a complete different experience and just made me miss being in a sea surrounded by MC fans/lambs over the sea of boas and tube tops and bell bottoms and teenage girls. He was great, don't get me wrong. Great show and lots of energy. I just miss knowing I'm going to see MC. I do understand she has done it for many years and deserves the time off too. Maybe if she misses it, she will return.

Re: I wish for Butterfly: unplugged for Butterfly 25 (101,178) (101,185) by JC from USA
The Roof is my fav Mariah song. I loved [Brandy] on the track but vocally they sound similar it's hard to even distinguish them at times. But, nonetheless, beautiful voices on a stunning track. And personally endearing to Mariah herself.

Re: I wish for Butterfly: unplugged for Butterfly 25 (101,179) (101,182) by Bill from the UK
The fact Caution was so well received should have made Mariah realise people don't always need to vocal acrobatics with her, especially as she can no longer replicate them live. I was listening to some old Julie London tracks (a jazz singer from years back), and her slow, smooth, sultry delivery would suit Mariah's current voice perfectly. An album sung like that would be a great addition to her catalogue. Rather than the same old tired formulaic R&B she's been doing since Bfly.
