Your comments make no sense in reference to a world famous and iconic artist over 30 years in the pop culture business. This whiney exercise in gratuitous negativity is beyond tiresome at this point.

The other version of the story (non-dramatised for TV) is that the duet was After Tonight, but it was simply not in the right key for Luis to sing, and they realised their voices were not compatible, so Mariah recorded it solo.

The Whitney/Enrique duet was really good. Such a romantic song. It fit both of their voices. From Luis Miguel's TV series on his life, he was having vocal issues when recording the duet. The song didn't really seem suitable for his voice (per the show he was also drinking during the session which is death to the chords). Mariah told him he sounded flat, which sent him into a tailspin. Mariah and David Foster were talking in the booth, it's assumed they discussed using auto tune to "fix" the flaws. When Luis heard the final product he noticed and laid into David Foster (who is a very arrogant producer). Years later Luis released the duet and replaced Mariah with Celine. The shade. Here is a clip from the show.

Very tacky but unsurprising that she's doing this. Like others have already said, she is looking for non-music revenue streams because her voice is shot and any new music she records will be virtually unlistenable or heavily reliant on pro-tools. It fits into the pattern of endorsement/business deals like "Mariah's Cookies" (if you look this up, the reviews for it are absolutely terrible), the "Mariah Menu" at McDonalds, the perfume, Hostel World, et cetera. There was a glimmer of hope for her music career in 2013 when "#Beautiful" came out and maybe again with "Caution" in 2018, but these just seem to be minor successes in a pattern of steady decline that really started with "E=MC2". The Vegas residencies were an opportunity for her to develop some needed discipline around performing, but that obviously came to an abrupt end.

Mine too. The look on Enrique's face when Whitney belts that note is priceless. He even laughs a little, like saying to himself: Oh no, she didn't. It was just an epic moment.

I am afraid that you are right. I have been thinking about what new female artists can I count on to release new albums. I will always be a Lamb. But, I am already building up my collection with Dua Lipa and Ella Mai. By the way Dua Lipa's new album is going to be a hot seller in November.

Technically she already owns that title (just check social media during that season) and it's clear to see exactly why, AIWFC does what no other Christmas song does, every year and that is being the most downloaded, streamed and played song, all season, every year without fail. Give her the title already, who better to carry it than Mariah Carey? Moments like this just further solidify that argument.

Mariah and Luis duet (101,010)

I really would like to know how this hidden duet with Luis Miguel sounds. Didn't she say that their voices didn't match well together? I remember the Whitney and Enrique Iglesias duet which I liked. At least we have The Rarities.

Her voice is shot. Her brand is over. She made bad decisions both health wise and career wise. Usually based on on money. She always said she learned from the Virgin deal and would never base her choices off money again but of course that didn't last. And neither did her career. What she has left is Christmas and that's what we're gonna get. It's too bad that after her second album she didn't continue in the musicianship she was displaying instead of going the super popular pop route. I know we all love Music Box, Daydream and Butterfly but then it kept going into Rainbow and Glitter and the pop indulgence was to great for her artistry. She should've left that kind of music to the Spice Girls and Britney Spears. Even if she would've completely left after #1's and came back with TEOM in 2005 it would've been better. Roc Nation did their best with little Mariah effort to restore her back a little but what does she do? Fire them after Caution under performs. At least with them we got new music, good music.

Her voice is shot for good that's why she doesn't record anything new and I highly doubt she would ever release anything else and I'm fine with it and so are my ears. If she wasn't so egotic she could have leave her singing career to rest few years ago and start write and produce others artists. This could have bring her career to another level.

No money in jazz. And if she's not creative anymore than there is literally zero chance in forming a band and making an album. Sounded like the Butterfly Lounge was the beginning of getting back to the music but obviously they realized it wasn't going to sell so it will never see the light of day.

Well, that's something I would like to know too. Hard to believe it's the same woman. Fame and money is one thing, but I prefer the Mariah who's love for music and artistry is stronger than for money. To "milk the cow called Christmas" gets boring. Why not make new music with real musicians and a band? If even Lady Gaga could do a Jazz album why not MC? Or something new, but please no more Christmas albums. 5 albums/editions with Christmas (The Star soundtrack and animated movie included) are enough.

She's someone who doesn't make or sell records like she used to, has a certain lifestyle, and thus needs to find other revenue streams to guarantee her income. Whilst it is unsavoury at times, we should probably cut her some slack. We all need to make some money, so there's no point in pretending it doesn't matter.

I do wonder if it is the same girl that used to write brilliant songs in the woodshop with Ben Margulies, that signed the contract to promote and endorse McDonalds.

When Mariah started she had a love for music but she also knew she had the talent to become rich. Now it feels like the love for music has taken the back seat to her love of money. There's been a few examples along the way. The signing the Virgin record deal which ended in disaster. Then the $18 million American Idol disaster. Now it looks like she will only do Christmas because it's the only place she can make money now. What happened to that 17 year old with the passion to make music? I don't think LA Reid will be back but it seems like she has some kind of deal with RCA as the last two collaborations were through the label.

It just we all have years of experience knowing what works best for MC. True Lambs know when something isn't in MC's best interest. We want the old MC back who made sound logical business decisions.

It really could be an idea of Stella back then. That were dark times for fans/lambs. I hope I never hear something from those people again.

I read that it's only for merchandise and not for any other reason. So Ms. Love could still call herself that, just not on official merch. It's a distinction, but it could have been avoided all together.

I am really feeling that MC has really given up on ever having a pop hit again. She is more focused on Christmas music and merchandise during the Christmas season. This is when she makes most of her money nowadays. I just wish L.A. Reid would come back in the picture and give her some direction.
I just put the puzzle pieces together about the reason why MC wants to trademark the Queen of Christmas. She needs this trademark distinction to promote the release of The Christmas Princess hitting bookshelves on November 1st and other Christmas merchandise dropping this year.
