Because I'm an MC fan a lot of things come across my social media. She is struggling through this performance. She needs to give Vision of Love a rest.

Merry Christmas or MCIIY (101,517)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada
| |
|
|
I'm 100% with you on this Robert, I listen to MCIIY three times more then Merry Christmas during the holiday season. It's an amazing album to put on for hosting events at home, so updeat and fun. I love the lush orchestra. I remember when she first released MCIIY that she said it is Christmas in the city verses Merry Christmas is Christmas in the country.

I enjoy listening to MCIIY over Merry Christmas. I love MC's arrangements and phrasing on MCIIY far better than Merry Christmas. I am probably all alone on a side by myself.

Obsessed with gonna be classic if it isn't already. But I still hate her for not releasing Migrate. What was this woman thinking?

Migrate vs Obsessed (101,503)
by Tevin from USA

So I was listening to Migrate (aka should have been a single) and Obsessed yesterday, and I wanted to get everyone's opinion. Out of the two, which song do you prefer, had Migrate been released as a single, which one do you believe would have charted higher? Finally, which one do you think would have had better longevity?

This song goes hard in a peculiar satisfying way. It hasn't aged at all and even sounds stronger today. It came on when working out on my playlist and it was a pleasant surprise to listen to after not playing it in quite a while. Just a total bop and fun record, I can see why it went number one. . Funny enough it is one of those rare moments that in hind sight, the video is a perfect match for the song. Haha. Why was that era so short?

The ending is a part of the song and is my favorite part where MC sings in that raspy voice. One reviewer said at the time that even though Mariah's voice is not the same like it used to be, no one can sing with the highs and lows like Mariah Carey.

Hello Mariah, I have been trying to contact you after seeing you act in the movie Wise Girls. I then thought how nice it would be if you played the character role as a hardcore attorney that's feared by the system because of your outstanding wits as a no-nonsense defense attorney representing the bad guy.
I have written a powerful, dramatic book and screenplay inspired by true events. I really think that this script has the potential of becoming a major motion picture and Netflix series. I attempted to contact Denzel Washinston, but he was filming in Europe. Beyon'ce agent said they were not looking for original content at this time. Kasi Lemmons was tied up with Harriet and Jodie Foster agents said she had to get four films made before 2024. Why don't we connect so you can familiarize yourself with my story. Respectfully, Henry.

Migrate vs Obsessed (101,507)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
Neither, quite honestly. I truly don't like "Migrate" like that. But hard pressed I would pick "Obsessed" as it was a massive hit in 2009. You could hardly escape it and it was also a popular ringtone. I don't play it often because I think its production is a tad bit "noisy" so to put it, But Gen Z love it and they love Mariah as well since she's the unofficial "queen of social media" too. Haha. "Obsessed" is her main qualifier to the that title – one of the ultimate drag/diss songs ever written, point, blank period.

Oooo. That's a tough one. Gen Z loves Obsessed, so that longevity is there. But Migrate gets my blood pumping and I love it. The only issue with Migrate is that autotune hasn't aged well. Without the Eminem controversy, I've wondered if Obsessed would have done as well as it did.

I always thought that the 2.5 million budget for Heartbreaker's video is including the Heartbreaker Remix video. That’s why it was expensive because it involves two productions (original and remix). I could be wrong though.

I think because [it] was a full cinematic experience, it had a story line, an alter ego villain and vengeance against an ex who is a famous actor. Then the extremely sexy remix video with the car wash, roller skates and black and white treatment. The videos couldn't be more different which was brilliant. I'd say her only videos after that, on that level where Touch My Body and Obsessed.

True; I'd give Rainbow the prize for [lyrics], and [give] Glitter the prize for beats, flow and production. I think How Much, X-Girlfriend and Did I do That are really jarring in contrast to the beauty of songs like Bliss and After Tonight. I could never choose between Heatbreaker (including remix) and Loverboy (including remix) both songs still thrill me.

I think I prefer Rainbow because I think it's stronger melodically. So Heartbreaker and the remix are great, and I sort of directly compare them against Loverboy and the remix. I also think CTTA, Bliss, After Tonight, Petals and the Interlude are beautiful ballads. With Glitter I love Lead the Way but don't think Reflections and Twister are as strong as the Rainbow ballads. I agree Glitter is more cohesive, and as much as I adore If We and Don't Stop, I feel Mariah needed to be on those songs more than just singing the hook.
I also have to state that in respect of her albums, my top albums of all time are all hers, then the list goes into other artists. This is why she's my favourite.

Bill, I absolutely agree with your point about "I'll be Lovin' u Long Time". That song is unbelievable and I'm shocked it didn't go to the top 5 (#58 on Billboard wasn't enough appreciation for such a jam). But to say Glitter wasn't as good as Rainbow is beyond offensive. I don't like Music Box, but I can understand its mastery. Glitter was a masterpiece, a far superior album to Rainbow IMO. Rainbow was a marketing and PR success, the actual music... It's such a hard album to listen start to finish. Most of Mariah's albums I can only listen start to finish. Rainbow and MIAMTEC are the two albums I feel have no flow or smoothness. They are a mish-mash of songs that don't flow or have a vibe imo.
Emotions, Butterfly, MOAIA and Caution are the most vibe centric albums, listen start to finish albums Mimi has produced.
