Re: Endless Love (101,121) (101,128)

This is why I literally burst into tears, when she announced she was about to sing it on the first night of her Caution Tour at the London Royal Albert Hall. No one in the hall that night had any idea she was going to sing this, and it was everything! Not a dry eye in sight and everyone was astounded by the vocals. Her live performance with Luther at RAH back then, is and will remain as one of the best duet performances in history IMO.

Never in a million years did I think we would be calculating Mariah Carey's current weight to the obesity charts but yet here we are.

I'm pretty sure you would agree that watching Marian and Luther singing "Endless Love" live is like having a perfectly balanced, nourishing and non-fattening meal with no room for donuts. Not even the fat affirming obesity police could dispute that.

I actually did some calculations on what Mariah's weight would have to be to be obese and she is no where near it. Even Stevie Wonder can tell. I did my research fully before responding to your post.
It's not appropriate to call people obese especially when they are anything but obese.

I had the same reaction to Endless Love. Such an iconic pairing much like MC and Whitney.

It's amazing that when she's not releasing, she is tired. So it's probably something happening around her, that is not related to her music. She seems happy when she is making music. But when she is not making music, she's tired. I honestly think lambs are Mariah's happy place. And the people around her are too much to handle.

Endless Love is divine. For me, it beats out the original by miles. Lionel and Diana's version is nice, but both Luther and Mariah are superior singers and their voices are so rich and soulful and gel together so perfectly. Like a full bodied wine.
The live version in London is one of Mariah's best ever performances. I'm lucky to have the promo CD with that version on it. They also sang it live on Top of the Pops as well together. They sang a shorter version but it was still great.
The video is also one of my faves. The warm hues, Mariah looks so great, and I love her "studio" videos (except Infamous of course).
Just a beautiful song, sang wonderfully by both of them.

I always said this as well, that live performance of "Endless Love" is so much better than the actual recording, I'm guessing because there's also engagement between the two and the crowd. And let's not forget that intro by Luther, makes me smile every time. Mariah's vocal prime was very short - where I don't sense any issues with her voice and it is operating at its full potential and that's from 1990 to 1994. By "Daydream" you can already tell there was a problem in her mid–register with the sudden loss of the "heft" in her voice.

It's not just awesome, it's simple impeccable, epic, unrepeatable! A moment in time. When I discovered it, I watched it thousands of times, and I still watch it. Mariah was simply beautiful, her demeanor was lovely, and Luther, well, Luther was just perfect. Luther had that distinctive buttery voice that's rarely ever heard anymore. May he rest in peace. I do miss him.

First of all, how do you know my experience/knowledge? Your opinion, just as mine, is an opinion. For your information, and this is not an opinion, you don't have to be 300lbs to be obese, your BMI only has to be 30 or above for that to happen. Most people we consider overweight are actually obese, but that wasn't the point of my post. Mariah herself had a very difficult pregnancy with the twins when she was in her very early 40's, so I doubt she would just decide to get pregnant out of the blue just for the fun of it. I also stated that her weight gain is most likely due to other factors.

Exhausted and angry (101,116)

I got myself a bit worried after listening to the Meghan podcast. When she asked Mariah to describe herself in three words she said exhausted, angry yet hopeful or something. I hope Mariah is ok. She really sounded very tired.

Sorry Edward but you shouldn't comment on people's bodies especially with such lack of knowledge/experience. Mariah is not obese. Mariah would have to be approximately 87 kg or nearly 200 lb to be classed as obese for her height and gender. Anyone with eyes can see she's not.
Menopause starts between your mid 40s and mid 50s. Mariah is in the age range for menopause which would make pregnancy difficult. Any pregnancy over the age of 37 is high risk and classed as a geriatric pregnancy. Mariah also had a pregnancy that has incurred pre eclampsia and gestational diabetes which is likely to reoccur.
There's many medical reasons Mariah would struggle to have a baby (see above) but weight isn't an issue and is highly ignorant to think it is.

The live concert version of this song is truly awesome. MC was truly at her best during her vocal prime years of 1993-1998. You knew when she used her hand she was about to give us some gorgeous live vocals.

I doubt Marian would decide to get pregnant at 53. If she wanted more babies, she probably would've used a surrogate. Her obesity might be a result of other factors. She will definitely be in shape for Christmas.

I agree that we would normally know because she would be in her best shape. But maybe it's time to be confident of her new shape as well. And also right now, she would miss a great opportunity. The points are so low for songs in the top 10. That is how Beyonce got a number 1, not because it's a good song, but because there's not a lot of competition. I love her but I'm sorry, that song is just awful. Taylor is also releasing because she know this, so it's going to be all about her. I think Mariah is badly managed, and her releases during the past 10 years are badly timed.

Let me say this. I have been very hard on MC. I want her to make a lyrically driven album that is a la Close My Eyes, Languishing, Right To Dream and Looking In for the entire album. No songs about romantic love. Just songs about life. Her voice. A piano. A guitar. But to speak on what makes her happy? She's given us more than enough, if she never ever makes another album. We destroyed Britney Spears. We killed Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and Prince. When I criticize MC it's because she created a titanium standard. But I'd rather her be happy than cater to her fans. Eat. Drink. Be merry and hibernate until Christmas if that's what keeps you alive.

What do you think makes Mariah happy these days? For me, in no particular order, I think it's spending time with her twins, engaging with her fans, business endeavors, music (but not in the "make an album every 2 years" way, a "I love music, and will engage it how I please, when I please" way) and having fun.

I think she's pregnant. Maybe I'm wrong. In the last pics I saw of her, every single one she is using something to cover her stomach. In one pic you can see Tanaka hand her a fan. It would make sense since everything stopped all of a sudden. All these hints to something coming in late March/April and then radio silence. If she is, congrats to her, if not, hopefully we will get some new music next year, because it doesn't seem like anything other than Christmas merch is coming our way this year.

That's always been my take on her actually having something new out - she'd get in shape. It's been her tell. I'm not here to judge her on her figure, I'm just stating an observation.
I don't think she's releasing anything anytime soon. She could be changing her formula, but I'm skeptical. So long as she's happy, it's all good. I simply don't want to hear about projects that won't come to fruition.

New music (101,106)

I don't think Mariah is about to release any new music anytime soon. When she's about to release a new project, she usually works on getting fit for video shoots and interiews, but judging by her outing the other day, she's not in the best of shapes to shoot video with Ariana or anyone,
Mariah said she used everything she had for Butterfly, so I doubt there's anything left from that era. As for the demos for "All Cried Out" and the other two songs, unless they had been left overs from her previous work, I doubt she recorded them. I'm hoping to be proven wrong though.

Predictably, we learned absolutely nothing new from that podcast, and Mariah continued to art of answering, but not answering some questions. However, it was so nice to hear Mariah handle the conversation, and speak to MM as a regular person. It was also good to hear Mariah almost control the conversation, despite being interviewed.

Delusionals hate when I come with analysis and facts lol I am very very calm. And I still love MC but wrong is wrong and Ima call it when I see it. I hope you guys are right about a Butterfly 25th although the fact that it's two and a half weeks away with no official press release makes me think it's not happening. Butterfly is my favorite album of all time by any artist and it was the moment I switched from Whitney being my number one to MC being my number one.
