I actually bought a Butterfly cover themed Covid mask at an Amazon discount store for one buck. Weeks later I saw a butterfly themed blanket set. I didn't get the blanket though. Just a side random thought. Lol.

Article: The number ones: Mariah Carey's "Hero" (99,839)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
It really annoys me how many people trash talk Hero these days. I know it's "cool" to not like it, especially ever since Mariah shocked us all by proclaiming that she never liked the song. Of course, whatever Mariah says, the lambs do.
What irks me, is before Mariah made that announcement during her concert, Hero was always well received by the fans. There was no reference to it being "too schmaltzy" or "too middle of the road" like everyone always says these days. Until AIWFCIY stole its crown, Hero was Mariah's signature tune. It was her "I Will Always Live You" and her "My Heart Will Go On", and everyone seemed fine with that. It was always receiving airplay on the radio, it was from her best-selling album (and probably significantly helped those album sales), it had a positive, universal message, and Mariah said no other song of hers ever got such a response from her fans in respect of the letters she used to get about it.
Mariah even said the song is for her fans, and yet here we all are throwing it back in her face, because it's the in-thing to not like it anymore? I reckon everybody here is a closet Hero fan, and it introduced many people to Mariah's music.
The song is expertly crafted, wonderfully written, and beautifully sung. I for one will always stand by the song, even when no one else will.

Edward, you jumped into my post, not vice versa. Which is something you have a habit of doing because your [sic] desperate for attention and love to spread negativity. There is a difference between calling you out on your bs and attacking you. I never attacked you or called you names yet you are accusing me of smoking crack. Since you want to accuse me of attacking you, how about this. Come for me again and I have more for you. Giving one's opinion and being intentionally shady or two different things. Oh and that's just my opinion, so you shouldn't get your little feelings hurt. Boop. Lol.

I am with you. But it does go with what she said on Twitter Spaces - "It's more than just The Roof." I guess the move to Atlanta was to secure some Atlanta producers like London On Da Track, Mike Will Made It, D'Mile, Polow Da Don, and The Stereotypes to give Butterfly the Atlanta sound vs. the New York sound from 1997. I just want to finally have a Timbaland production on Babydoll. Only time will tell what happens on September 16, 2022.

The new Mariah Carey album is a remake of the Butterfly album with re-recorded vocals and guest artists to celebrate its 25th anniversary on September 16, which happens to be a Friday this year.

I hope most of you guys realize that the Mariah we know and love today is a product of a symbiotic relationship with Tommy. Without a crystal ball, we just don't know who Mariah would be without having worked so closely with him. When you work/live with the boss, there are things learned about "the business" that give you an incredible edge. Obviously this knowledge was beneficial in creating longevity in the industry. Boo-hoo, it was a tough marriage. Mariah was an adult walking into the relationship and has her reservations and regrets. Frankly, I wouldn't change history between them one bit. Mariah love all day.

Haha, no there is some truth to what you say, albeit not necessarily in Europe. In Japan the album releases for most artists always had a bonus track. This was because, due to their economy, it was cheaper to import a CD from the US/elsewhere than it was to buy locally, so bonus tracks were added to encourage local purchases. In Europe, it was expensive to import from the US. I curse that I had to build my collection in the 90s as the US single imports were a lot of money. I remember the 2 track Dreamlover CD was almost £10. Back then, that was a lot of money for two tracks. But luckily the UK in particular was blessed with gorgeous picture discs, exclusive remixes, unique picture sleeves etc. We were treated very well indeed.

Robert-Anthony, we all post here and we know people could comment on those posts, that's a fact. Somebody got their feelings hurt because a fellow board member disagreed with them and they decided to throw a few ridiculous tantrums as if they were 5. Whitney Houston once said: crack is wack, and I agree.

Well, given the fact I never addressed you or made any comment on any of your recent posts, and that you've come here attacking me, I have come to the conclusion that you're on crack or something, there's no other explanation. And that wasn't shade, that was a statement. If you don't want people's opinion on your posts, simply don't post. If you're afraid of getting your feelings hurt because someone here disagrees with you, then you shouldn't be posting, you should be in therapy.

True the cover is just horrible. The shape of face is wrong and the eyes are way too close. Search Yam Karkai and you will see that the illustrator is just illustrating herself. That is a typical sign of self-important artists. Indeed all of her portraits look the same, just digitally duplicated.

And here comes Edward wanting to get into a conversation that has nothing to do with him to foster more back and forth between Ribbon and I. Push on Edward, find some attention elsewhere. I know you love to throw shade and it looks like your attempt to recruit the final foursome for your Mean Girls Clique is complete. Why don't you, the Nutty Professor, the English Ragamuffin, and your new recruit make your own fan hate site. I don't need you trying to come braid my hair, respect social distance guidelines and keep your Omarion to yourself please.
