Re: Aaliyah 20 - August 25th (98,528) (98,536) by Leonard from Indonesia
Aaliyah's One in a Million is now available on iTunes. It's like my teenage era all over again.

What makes it even worse is that they already shot a video for the song "More Than A Woman", which was good to go, and then for some reason they decided to film a video for "Rock The Boat" and put that out first, even though the "More Than A Woman" one was already finished and edited! And it was released after "Rock The Boat", so they did use it.

Love Aaliyah. She's going digital soon too after so long. Just been on holiday to Portugal and saw a guy wearing an Aaliyah t-shirt. I had to go over. I remember being in NYC on the day of her funeral and I saw the horse drawn carriage with her coffin.

I'm still not over her death. Such potential, she was just getting started. Smh. Worst still is there's actually video footage of her last day - the day of the plane crash on YouTube.

Remember when last she went missing in action back in 2004? And then we got "The Emancipation Of Mimi". Exactly.

Take a little trip vs. Giving me Life (98,531) by Terna from Nigeria
Did Mariah Carey and Dev Hynes [sample] Minnie Riperton on her song "Take a Little Trip" for "Giving me Life"? Sure sounds melodically very similar.

Christmas secrecy (98,530) by Bobby A from United States
I don't like the fact MC is not giving up any details about all of her recording in the studio. I miss the posting of studio pictures. I would like to know who she is working with besides Daniel Moore III. Whenever she makes the album announcement, I am pretty sure it will not be on Epic Records and the news will be bigger than last year's Magical Christmas. If I am wrong, I will leave the board on December 31st.

Aaliyah 20 - August 25th (98,528) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
20 years since BabyGirl passed. I can't even fathom the heights that beautiful soul would have reached. I've always believed MC wished she had the freedom to explore R&B the way Aaliyah did in the '90s. What albums do you think are Mariah's "most Aaliyah" albums? My vote is Butterfly and Caution. God bless Aaliyah.

I'm thinking she should release an album stuffed with the traditional river dance music with a hint of rap.

Cheers. How about "Black Irish" with a jazz album by Mariah. Lol. That would be a great combination.

Duets with two R&B or pop singers rarely are commercial or critical hits.

Black Irish (98,524) by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa
This news came at such a funny time for me. But I'm actually really excited to try all of these flavors. I didn't buy her cookies, but I feel like sipping Black Irish and listening to her catalogue could be a whole mood. Like it just feels like it would be a celebration every time. Cheers lambs, I can't wait to stock up on this.

Re: Collaborations (98,521) (98,523) by Terna from Nigeria
Honestly, I really don't care for Duets with Mariah and other artists period. I have found out that my best Mariah Carey songs are rarely the duets and more when she's alone on the track. Something about her sound, talent and gifting strikes me as larger than life and doesn't quite merge well with other artists, I guess this is what Chaka Khan meant when she said "artists are like planets and not everyone is compatible". Lol. A few times she's gotten it right - the duets that is with Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, Boyz II Men and Miguel.

I think it's more if their voices are compatible. And would sound good together.

Collaborations (98,521) by Anonymous from USA
I have always wondered what a Mariah/Janet Jackson or a Mariah/Toni Braxton song would sound like. There are so many talented R&B artists out there, I wish Mariah would collaborate with other great female voices. If done right, it could be a huge hit for all involved. I'm curious about the Justin Timberlake collaboration but at the same time I'm also glad it was never released, I don't care much for him. Do you guys think we'll ever get Mariah and Beyoncé on the same song? She's friendly with most of the women, but we don't get many collaborations, I don't think it's that simple either but c'mon, it's Mariah freaking Carey, people should be lining up to be on her records.

Re: Mariah sang on Eminem's "Superman" (98,519) (98,520) by Anonymous from UK
That's not quite true either. Mariah and Eminem were friends, and hung out. In Blender, when promoting CB, she confirmed it by saying that she went to his house and, if my memory serves me, "jumped on his trampoline", or something equally unexpected. Something then happened for them to fall out - perhaps she did reject him further, it's the most likely considering his abuse, but no one really knows what went down between them, especially not as the story has changed since, and both Mariah and him clearly embellished facts to fit lyrics in their respective songs about each other (for example, the lyrics of "Clown" suggest they did talk and spend time together, while "Obsessed" implies it's silly to think they even met or shared activities, Eminem's lyrics are obv continuously fictional so don't need to be covered/trusted). But what is definitely known is that they did hang out on a friendship level, and Mariah did record Superman. Dina Rae has no reason to lie about that.

Re: Mariah sang on Eminem's "Superman" (98,516) (98,519) by Nikki from usa
Not quite what you think. Mariah and Eminem had agreed to work on a track together. When neither of their managers could find a single day they both had off at the same time to really work on a track together, Mariah bounced. Mariah had been working on Glitter and a producer team called Klark Kent Productions. I'm not spelling it right. They worked on several Glitter tracks. They had an ongoing joke calling Mariah "super girl" because she'd get changed on flights with new makeup and look different when she emerged. Instead of phone booths it was a plane. Eminem got butt hurt when she didn't get back to him, so he re-worked the song. It was supposed to be a reference to the 80's. He kept the song, dissed her, along with the entire album. He promoted the album by claiming they were dating. Then, promoted his own soundtrack movie chism by claiming they hooked up.

Bye Bye (98,518) by Bobby A from United States
Listening to Bye Bye because of The Clark Sisters news today. Does it have elements of gospel? What other pop songs by MC have elements of gospel? When I Saw You sounds like a song out of a church hymn book.

Re: Clark Sisters (98,514) (98,517) by Bobby A from United States
According to Dorinda Clark-Cole, she and her sisters had a strenuous week recording with MC. MC wore them out in the studio with recording the song. Lol.

Listening back to it now (his parts) he definitely changed the lyrics after Mariah worked on it. He definitely threw in some jabs at her after the fact. I wonder what the original song sounded like. There's the link to the highlights of the interview. The Mariah and song Superman start at 1:30.

Mariah sang on Eminem's "Superman" (98,515) by lil star from untied states
So singer Dina Rae, who is the vocalist on Eminem's song Superman, confirmed that Mariah was the original vocalist. We all used to think that this was a Mariah diss track but it was some sort of meta moment I guess. The singer Dina says that Mariah was the reference vocal. I always liked the sound of that song and would love to hear Mariah's husky vocals and playful coos on the song. What do you guys think? Would we want to hear it?

Re: Clark Sisters (98,513) (98,514) by Bobby A from United States
This is the best news to wake up to on a Friday. I wonder if she is working on a Christmas collaboration album. Brandy, Maxwell, and now The Clark Sisters. It makes perfect sense since she did Oh Santa with JHud and Ariana. It is going to be a great Christmas.

Re: Clark Sisters (98,512) (98,513) by Bill from the UK
If Mariah is singing with the Clark Sisters that will be amazing. She mentioned them on The First Vision video along with the Edwin Hawkins Singers as the gospel singers she likes. I wonder if MC is heading down a gospel route for the next album, or whether it's going to be a gospel infused Christmas number.

Clark Sisters (98,512) by Nicky from Jasmine's Sofa
Mystery solved. I have a feeling this may be the group that Mariah was talking about in Spaces. I'm so here for it and very excited. I've always thought that Mariah should cover Optimistic by Sounds of Blackness, it would be amazing if the song with The Clark Sisters has a similar uplifting vibe.
